A question for the eds. how did Mignolet come through the ranks and have the feet of a circus clown.He is truly woeful when kicking the ball off the ground, how was this not coached out of him at a very young age.I cringe every time he has to kick and I just know its going to skew off the outside of his foot and go out or head straight to an opposition player.It drives me crazy!

{Ed001's Note - it is not just kicking the ball, it is also stopping the ball he is hopeless with his feet. He will do everything he can to get his feet out of the way and try and get his hand down to the ball, rather than just stick his foot out. It is bizarre.}

Also as GK we are taught to catch the ball and for that you need to use feet . its all about timing and the starting positioning.
However Mignolet punches the ball which means rather than using his feet he is throwing his body at the ball. his feet remain rooted and he throws his body to punch the ball . that is the only reason he is a bit good on one on ones because he throws his body and pathetic at almost everything else. his feet don't move. also his first movement no matter what is forward rather than sideways which means he has no line . as goalkeeper when trained with defence we are told to maintain a line which basically means anything inside the line is my responsibility . anything beyond that line i can either take charge or let the defense deal with it. but mignolet charges at everything which means, if he misses its and empty goal, if he mispunches its an empty goal and as any goal keeping expert would tell you only god knows where your punch will land. you can hit is the hardest and it still could land to a charlie Adam waiting to smash it from the half line. you are supposed to catch the ball , it kills the opposition attack, it is the first most duty of GK. All good keepers you will see catch the ball clean . and deploy the punch as a last resort

even the sunderland fans told us he couldn't kick a ball,come for crosses or demand his area,so who went and watched him numerous times and said that is what we need at 11 mill

I agree , he's a number two at best , he flaps at crosses and his punches always put us in more trouble , I hope I am not picking on him but he is what I would change first.

I guess we can blame the TC for his arrival then.
