Have to say I'm with Ed1 on Gerrard returning. I wouldn't be as harsh but it does concern me.

We have a proven 'A Class' manager who is loyal and has stayed at his previous clubs for 7 years. I want Klopp at ours for that long but if Gerrard is any part of the coaching staff I fear for the clamour of fans and media saying give Gerrard a chance as manager every time our performances dip. Personally I don't want Klopp to have that over his head.

Also, is Gerrard coming back for the good of the club and team or for his own personal benefit? I think the latter but am sure he has no malice intended. It's time to move on methinx. Great manager, fresh ideas, fresh future. I still remember Souness being a fantastic player for us but i also remember what he did to our club as manager.
Meet on earth would we line up and train someone as Klopp's replacement when we could put effort into keeping Klopp here for the next 20 years.

Just a thought.

I don't think Gerrard would ever think of himself when it comes to Liverpool FC. Having him around would be great ecspecially what he does behind closed doors for the youngsters etc. I do get what you mean if our form dips people could start shouting for Gerrards name as people did for Dalglish and that didn't turn out well in FSG eyes. Is gerrard ready for management no way and i think he knows that. Can i see him trying to go over Klopp no not really in all honesty and what i have seen of Klopp so far i don't think he would stand for it. Would it be a bad idea on Klopp showing Gerrard what he knows about management and his philosophy in football? I personally think so.

{Ed001's Note - you mean like he didn't think of himself when he put out his book which showed Liverpool in a terrible light and opened them up to charges?}

I totally agree. We do not need gerrard back at all. Fine if he wants to work with the academy etc but should be nowhere near the first team at all. We need 2 stop looking back and look forward. Klopp in the present and the future, so let's forget gerrard. He was a great servant to the club and loved but we have moved on now. We defo do not want him playing. as eds said, he's been poor for a while now and what would he possibly offer to our team. Onwards and upwards YNWA.

What are these charges Ed? I seen Ed002 allude to them earlier on another post?

{Ed001's Note - he claimed the club was engaged in the tapping up of players, which has led to questions being raised. Questions which would lead to an investigation where he to return to the club.}

The club might feel they handled Gerrard badly, but klopp has nothing to do with him, and won't feel any pressure to give him anything hopefully.

Guys lots of people putting forward their views passionately which is great. Why don't we do a quick poll. If you feel SG should come back train and potentially play in cup game click Agree, if you feel he's left let's move on and not revisit click disagree. cheers.

ive not read his book Ed001 so didn't know any of that. i retract my comment them :) why did he do that? was that a way of getting back at the club for treating him badly in his eyes?

{Ed001's Note - because sensationalism sells and he was doing it to make money. I have not read his book either, nor do I have any intention of doing so. These kind of books are not really my thing. Especially as it is so carefully edited to give only his side and omit anything felt to be damaging to his image, but then it would not be possible to fit all that in one book.}

I mentioned below I'd read some it on a bus journey to London, I'm about 60% of the way through it's a tough going autobiogrphy. Nothing grasps you.
I got the feeling that
-He picked the team almost at LFC in the later years
-He love himself (A LOT) the superlatives he uses for himself are very self indulgent.
-He can't stake a step back and assess if he's done something wrong.
-He clearly was responsible for some divides.
-Accuses referees of bias (Mike dean if I remember)
-If Gerrard has a knife for some one's back, he'll use it, and it's better to keep on his good side.

{Ed001's Note - Atkinson wasn't it? And yes, he is very full of himself, caused a lot of trouble and is not a nice guy at all, contrary to his public image. But, on the other side, he was great for us, at times, on the pitch, and that was what he was there for. It is the club that failed him, by letting him have so much power, if anything.}

It might have been atkinson, the name escaped me when trying to recall, which is why i put the brackets around remembering.
I'll finish the book off, but it's really something I have a burning desire to do, found it just a bit dull really.

I didn't realise he was that much of an idiot! Was he generally liked by team mates eds or is that just an illusion? Are there some people that are glad he's gone and will be dreading it if he comes back? Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - he was liked by some and not by others.}

Out of interest, I know Alonso probably loved him, but who didn't get on with him? Balotelli?

{Ed001's Note - Torres was the main one, as Torres wanted to spend time with his family and Gerrard felt he should be going out on nights out with the team. Carra and Gerrard are the main reason Torres got a sulk on.}

04 Nov 2015 19:37:58
Funnily enough he says he loved Suarez for his devotion to his family.

04 Nov 2015 19:58:26
Atkinson is from my part of the world and a well known fan of Man Utd. Not that I believe it justifies any comments that would harm the club.

04 Nov 2015 21:21:38
If what Ed is saying is true about SG, then i want nothing to do with him returning to the club. Only bad things can happen.
