Following the Pool since 77. Grew up with their dominance and grown older watching false dawns and near misses with some great moments thrown in for good measure. What I would hope for under JK would be steady improvement, complete commitment and realistic expectations. We are playing on an uneven pitch and will need to be patient regarding consistent title challenges. After the wait we've had a few more seasons won't kill us. Constant change won't get us there. BR and his squad came close with the title in our own hands with 3 games to go. But alas it was not to be. If JK can get his team to perform as entertainingly as he does himself whilst bringing us forward I'll be happy! YNWA.

So what are your realistic expctations? challanging for the title in two years? three years? I love Klopp but I don't see us challanging to the title in the forseen future without signing one or two top class players and it will be hard to bring those unls syou are lucky enough to bring someone who is not established yet but is a Suarez in waiting.

I think the "realism" of expectations for Klopp will depend on the kind of backing he gets in the next few transfer windows.

After backing Rodgers with tens of millions of GBP for the last few years, FSG may be fairly cautious in spending a lot for acquisitions in the next while.

If we are conservative in our player acquisitions, due to limited funds, then I think we need to adjust our expectations accordingly.

I think it's realistic, at the very least, to expect improvements in playing and standing in the next two seasons. That may mean at least challenging for top 4. I think challenging for title is a longer term goal, and will depend on smart personnel moves and player acquisitions, including some financial backing from FSG.

Surely the answer is to even out the pitch. A new groundsman could be our best signing this season.

This is pretty much where I am. Klopp needs this season to establish the mentality and structure of the team. When the foundations are laid we can then look to add to the ranks with a couple of key first team signings and move forward.
The last couple of windows were scattergun with too many pieces not fitting the overall identity.

Don't want to see another 4 attacking mids without wingers etc.

When does klopp need $ to to achieve anything? All his past achievements are done with little or no budget, y else u think fsg will want klopp so desperately?

I think we have a really strong squad already, with the potential to be truly great in 2yrs with Klopp's training methods taking hold, one or two key additions (eg GK), Coutinho/Firmino/Moreno having matured, and the patience to allow the likes of Ibe, Ojo, Rossiter, Markovic, Illori, Kent, Chirivella to come through.

Hold the line would be my approach, let's give a couple of seasons.

In Germany Klopp had to beat only Bayern for the title. England is a different ball game. we have nearly 5 teams competing on a regular basis.

He was bought to utilize the current squad which is worth over 300 mill on paper.

NOPE, in Germany when klopp took over Dortmund they were a level or two below the likes of Hamburg, Schalke, Leverkusen and Werder Bremen who all were bigger clubs at the time. The reason Dortmund are what they are today is because of Klopp.

Agree with much of what's in the replies. I think top 4 should be achievable in the immediate future. I see a lack of quality with the top teams (look at Chelsea this year) . I think we were unlucky that our good season with Suarez didn't come the year after city's first title as I think Utd fell in for a softish one there. Consolidate as a top 4 team for a couple of years then kick on. I think JK has every chance. Hopefully we'll entertain along the way and maybe get lucky here and there with the cups.

I think we have a good squad atm, not the best but pretty strong. I think Top 4 is achievable with the current squad however not an easy task we would need to play very good football and maybe get a few lucky things happen like a shock loss for a team, few decisions etc just how footy is!

to challenge for the title i think would take a while to get Klopps methods drilled into the players. A few of the more avg players released and a few top players coming in! Not to say the top players have to be really expensive Klopp and his team have a knack of finding gems, but i look at certain players in the squad and think we need an upgrade in that position to really compete with the likes of city and chelski when they are at very top form!
