Has there ever been a player with absolutely exceptional talent who has looked a class apart when training but due to pressure never transferred that ability onto the pitch?

It must happen a lot but we don't here about. How players who are balls in matches constantly get played, some of them must look class in training. maybe ballotelli in 5 asides;

Not that he never made it, but Veron really struggled at United and Chelsea on the field, and people kept questioning his starts, but united and Chelsea players from the time (talking retrospectively), said they couldn't hold it against sir Alex and (I think) Ranieri becuase in training he was exceptional and really just made himself undropable, but for some reason it didn't show on the field. There was a particular interview with Neville and Scholes I think where they pour adulation over him, but regret it never transferred.

put me in front of goal in a game, knees buckled, ass cheeks tightened and ball either smashed into keeper or went into someone's back garden.

Vladimir Smicer was meant to be class in training and was not so bad a player either I guess though a little light weight.

Ryan Babel? not sure how hard he trained but he was meant to have tons of speed and ability, just rarely saw it on the pitch.

Apparently Dickson Etuhu suffered from this. He used to be immense in training then remarkably average during games.

Higgins, i was going to say smicer as well, all the players at liverpool said he was brilliant in traing one of the best skillfull players if not the best skilfull one in the team.

Henderson apparently is brilliant in training and makes himself look like messi with the amount of goals he scores.
But for some reason never scores that many of even looks that skillful on the pitch.
