Hey ed001, just curious what your thoughts were on Steve Nicol as a player. Never got to see him play and he's clearly Liverpool through and through. Seems to be one of the legends less talked about.
Just asking because the espnfc team always ask him things Liverpool related. They asked him about the team of the week and why lukaku was in ahead of Firmino.
They chattered on about statistics and what not. And he responded, quite hilariously, if Lukaku is that good, why is he playing for Everton?
Got a good laugh out of that.
{Ed001's Note - I loved Nicol as a player, he could play almost everywhere and look like it was his natural position. He may not have got the glory, but he was one of the most vital players at Liverpool. Couldn't half neck a pint down as well! Very underrated player, would walk into almost any team in the world on his day.}

Was a good solid gutsy player. Could play anywhere across the back line and also lend a hand in midfield. He was Mr Reliable.

Loved Nicol as you say could make any position look like he played there all his career. A player that versatile and good who playing in today's game would be worth a huge amount of money.

I remember that Newcastle game very well. I think he was playing RM that day but he could play anywhere you put him. What price would you put on him in today's market.

Anyone remember his header against arsenal at Highbury? Think it might have been the first game of the season. We were wearing the grey candy strip that year.

I f***ing love Stevie Nicol on ESPNFC, his Liverpool bias shows and he has no shame. His bias manifestation seems to have intensified in the last couple of years.

for me stevie nicol was one of those players who never got the credit he deserved, he was a great defender plus he scored a lot of goals, plus i think he had big feet lol :) )
