Ed002 I see SG is indeed training with the first team. What do you make of that? I find it strange LFC would do that given the likely ramifications aside from possible disruptive nature of him training with the first team? Bad move by Klopp? Or does he know better?

{Ed002's Note - I think it is a major mistake by the club - he will be a distraction and disruptive to any tactical training.}

Agree4 Disagree4

I tend to agree with you Ed002. I just hope that Klopp knows something we don't. I find it more perplexing that they are risking the sanctions you previously referred to for what seems like nothing positive for the club?

{Ed002's Note - They would only come if he registered as a player - otherwise the FA have no authority over him.}

Maybe Klopp has drafted Gerrard in to teach these lot how to take a corner? Because since he left we haven't kicked the ball from out of the little semi circle at the bottom of the flag.

30 Nov 2015 20:40:26
Never saw Gerrard take a good corner tbh.
Always hit the first defender without fail.

30 Nov 2015 20:51:15
How long will he be here?

30 Nov 2015 20:56:08
Really can't understand why Gerrard is allowed to train with our first team.
What happens when his stint in the MLS is over. Will he be hanging around our team constantly.
I agree with Ed002.major mistake!

I don't think it's that big a deal. Surely it's more of a fitness thing for him and he'd like to see how Klopp works. I doubt Klopp would allow it to become a distraction and I'd imagine he wouldn't be an issue tactically as it's not as if suddenly he'd be the focus of what they're doing training wise?
Let's not forget his stature in the club over the past decade or more, however some may view him on here.

30 Nov 2015 20:46:48
I actually don't think Gerrard training is all that big of a deal, so long as there is no inkling he's being considered for playing time.

30 Nov 2015 22:10:53
During the training sessions those players need 100% focus and concentration on trying to better learn the tactics klopp needs, and to push their fitness harder.
Any distractions whatsoever will reduce their learning from the sessions, and reduce their effectiveness and their fitness levels when they go up against saints.
Everyone respects stevie's great dedication and his contribution to this club over his career, but no-one should other than players should join those sessions. No good can come of it.
We all know what its like when an old workmate comes back after months of absence. Its impossible not to want to talk about things that have happened to both of you, and on the morning they return you don't get your normal amount or quality of work done. Its just human nature.
The man is a legend and always will be in my eyes, but the squad are fighting desperately for a CL place against highly motivated, top quality opponents who are well led and well organised by great professionals, and if they give less than 100% we will not win.
He has no place on that training pitch during a working season, unless it is specifically to watch and learn coaching methods.
I just think that no good will come of it, and I hope its not a regular thing.

Bloody hell he's only keeping fit get a grip.

30 Nov 2015 22:40:20
After 3, let's all cry together?

Grow up man, bunch of babies in here. Good to see him back.

30 Nov 2015 23:06:42
This is 100% not an issue at all. In Klopp we trust!

30 Nov 2015 23:13:03
He will be doing the fitness sessions and probably some of the ball work. He won't be doing the natch prep.

30 Nov 2015 22:36:02
Having a guy like stevie around is only good for the club, amazing that some start banging on about his corner taking when the guy adores the club maybe take a minute to look through vidoes, bought me some amazing times as a liverpool supporter, never have a bad word to say about him.

30 Nov 2015 23:42:27
Pretty sure the pics released were only warm up drills, maybe once the proper tactical stuff comes in they will separate.

01 Dec 2015 00:11:30
I don't likeSG coming in at all but Klopp knows best and this would never have happened if Klopp did not sign off on it so, I'll trust his judgement. As for those saying that people or players never had a bad word to say about him, they need to do a bit more research or listen to Ed01 when he talks about SG.

Cannot believe the stick SG gets on here. Contrary to other opinions on here we are in transition, we have employed a good manager but we are far away from being a team capable of challenging for the top 4. Steven Gerrard has given us some of the best memories over the last 20-30 years, if he wants to train and learn from our manager why is that so bad. First time post, after reading for nearly 5 years. Shame on you reds fans, how quickly you all forget.

01 Dec 2015 00:47:26
If its just keeping fit why can't he train with the under21s?

01 Dec 2015 01:23:46
The manager decided he could train at Melwood. You either trust the manager or you don't - end of story really.

30 Nov 2015 23:17:41
Ed001 what's your take on this if you have a moment please? i'm hoping he is just there to get fit and will keep his head down but is that his character to do that?

{Ed001's Note - that is all it is, he is just keeping in shape over the MLS close season.}

01 Dec 2015 04:58:10
Can't have him dishing out the game plan every match day. He basically has to act like a Liverpool player while training and keep everything bar his experience in-house.

01 Dec 2015 06:25:19
I feel it should not be a big deal. Gerrard and Klopp both want what is good for the club. Klopp will accommodate Gerrard as long as he feels that there is no negative impact.
P. S Gerrard wants to return to the club at some point so why will he do anything to jeopardize it.

Iam with Klopp on this one. You are always welcome Stevie!

01 Dec 2015 07:27:36
He is already distracting the fans, what's to say the players are not asking the same questions we are? Seeking mentorship and leadership from him as opposed to the captain and his vice?

01 Dec 2015 13:19:00
Long time reader first time poster. I have to say some of you need to get some perspective. SG being back at the club can ONLY be positive for Liverpool. I can hardly believe I’m having to explain this. Disruptive? Maybe for an hour or two while people say hello, but these are professionals, they know what needs to be done. Can you imagine the youngsters at the club, seeing their idol everyday? Getting to talk to him, SG giving out advice and building confidence of these players. Did any of you read his first book? How much help he needed from the likes of Mcmanaman, Redknapp and Fowler? Knowing know to respect the club and other players? You don’t think he can help anyone at the academy with these things and how to become as good as he was? Melwood is his 2nd home, it’s where he’s always belonged. This might come across as fanciful, but these players are human beings, with issues, confidence problems and private issues like the rest of us. Of course SG being at Liverpool is a good thing. He’s is one of our greatest players. Get a grip.

01 Dec 2015 17:18:01
And yet Ed002 blasts us for keeping Shankly away from the team after he'd left the club. Let's just leave Gerrard in the dumpster out back, what a great way to treat a legend. Hypocrisy at it's finest right there.
