Remember when Rodgers signed Assaidi and everyone was buzzing? or when we beat Chelsea (supposedly) to lago Aspas? Or when Mignolet saved the PK his first game and he was the saviour? Just shows how risky transfers really are and how much you can't know until they actually start playing games in the premier league. Here's to hoping that our transfers become a little more sensible under Klopp.

I know that managers have a greater insight on how players preform during trainging but a lot of the players talkt about above are not bad signings in my opinion if used in a different way then in Liverpool. Look at Aspas still scoring in Spain.

So I agree with you! Buy players that we know how to use correkt!

Go ask Barcelona if Aspas is a good player or not judging by the way he single-handedly destroyed them or the way he and Nolito tormented Real madrid this season. Aspas was always a good player but never got a chance under BR even in games we were winning.

28 Jan 2016 19:38:35
He is a good player but he does not suit the physical fast paced premier league IMO.

Aspas was crap.

{Ed001's Note - he was not crap, he was lightweight but clearly had ability and workrate.}

28 Jan 2016 19:52:01
I'm going to disagree with you on Aspas. I don't think he was ever suited to play in the prem. Too small, too lightweight. BR gave him chances as a striker and never impressed.

A player like Markovic on the other hand never was played properly by BR, and now looks to have been a waste of a lot of money.

Was lago not always fatigued due to being in the gym trying to bulk up?

28 Jan 2016 20:15:51
Pleas explain how and when Aspas was used properly by BR?

He was hard working and he still shows good ability!

Please explain how he wasn't used properly? He was played in his favored position and didn't show any signs of being able to keep up in this league. Same thing as Soldado. Unstoppable in Spain, couldn't stay in the Spurs team in England.

Maybe Rodgers could have given him more time to adapt rather than shipping him out on loan, but he was too busy trying to find spots for all the other players he bought that didn't fit in the team.

28 Jan 2016 21:03:27
In my opinion its al about balance in the team wich i don't think BR managed during his time with Aspan.

Aspas in a different team with a different modell scores goals. just se him now in Spain.

Same with Soldado hench buy players who fit the modell of your team!
BR lost his modell and couldn't find a proper place for Aspas.

Thats my opinion.

YNWA mate.

Who was buzzing when we signed Assaidi? I'd never heard of the fella! 😂.

28 Jan 2016 21:23:15
1301 fair obvious point right? Buy players that fit the system, can't disagree.

Pipss I just remember this site blowing up when assaidi signed how Brendan had found this hidden gem on the cheap. In hindsight it was just the beginning of Brendan's transfer debacles.

28 Jan 2016 23:09:05
Buzzing when we signed assaidi!? Maybe after I typed his name into YouTube. But that makes Charlie Adam look like a world beater.

29 Jan 2016 00:37:40
Therefore, BR is the reason Aspas failed because he signed a good player who did fit our way or our league. It his fault as usual. There, fixed it for you.
