I don't think it's that simple - horses for courses (ie some games where we need more physicality may mean both play together) and rotation should mean Can and Hendo both get plenty of games.
I suspect what Can may be worried about is if we bring in Keita. then he'd need to be worried as extremely difficult to keep them all happy (and Gini, Lallana etc. )

Can's contract stalled way before we had any interest in Keita. Can wants to play as a defensive midfielder while Keita plays elsewhere.

Klopp rates him and so does Allegri. I am sure both fantastic coaches know more about a Can's qualities as a player than any random fan. Just give Can what he wants. If he has asked for a regular first team berth, then give it to him.

So Supermane thinks it will be good business to replace Can (our only real option at the base of midfield apart from an injury prone Hendo) with a bang average journeyman in OX who doe snot even know what his bets position is in his mid twenties.
