Kelleher, Trent, Gomez, Konate, Tsimikas, Elliott, Jones, Diaz, Jota. all 25 or under with the likes of Van Den Berg and Gordon also coming through. Sure, we've some players who are probably passed their best who will gradually need to move on but all this talk about an ageing squad is overhyped. The squad is evolving before our eyes.

JH great to see so many young eaters named and every team goes through evolution. It’s just how it differs in quality. Look over the years and it wasn’t long ago Utd and Arsenal were topping the league and then the likes of Newcastle and Villa were finishing 2nd.

Even we had a 30 year wait after a spell of dominance.

Looking at our ageing players we’ve had some world class performances and seasons out of them. And throw into the hat a world class leader in the captains role.

The youngsters named have potential but by heck do they have big boots to fill. Because the likes of City, Chelsea and now Newcastle (moving forward) won’t have to worry about evolution too much as they’ll just go and continue to buy the best out there.

I get the post but. Tsimikas is blocked for a few years yet. Trent and konate are blocking Joe. Jones, and elliot are likely to want the am position. They won't stay not playing for ages. Our issue is the hg players are about the same age in the same position.

Yeh but the other way of looking at it is add a midfielder and a right sided forward to that (bowen and Bissouma) for example and you have a team of players no older than 25 who could already win games in the premier league. And don't forget some of our first 11 are still only in or coming to their prime like Fab, Salah and Virg. Suppose im just saying the rebuild doesn't have to be as big as some are panicking about. One or two top class signings every year and some kids coming through the academy and we'll be grand.

Why do people say players are ‘blocked’ from getting into the team? It’s called competition for places. If you want to get in the team you have to work your socks off to oust the player that’s already there. This has been the same for decades and it’s good for the team overall because the subs have to up their level to get into the side and the first team have to up their level to keep their place.
Why we talk about this as a negative is completely beyond me.
