All I ever read on here is how We have no money to spend? We’ve now spent the most on any player in the window in England - what am I missing?

Agree0 Disagree0

That we're going to sell players to balance it out.

If a player becomes available that represents value for money and who the management team believe will be a fit for the team, the way it plays and the attitude required to fit into the environment at the club then the money tends to be available - from the 9 million for Robbo to the @ 80 million for VVD.

Of course being a business the club has, is and will try to ensure that the value of the club is maximised and profit - if possible - achieved and there will likely be sales but they will be sales (barring specific players being determined to leave) that do not weaken the overall squad.

Fingers crossed Salah is deemed as one of those specific players 🤞.

Getting his contract signed would finish off an amazing month.

On a more selfish note I really hope Mane is also one of them players as I’m a massive fan of his.

I doubt we will be recouping £40m in sales today but you could be right Faithinworks. And WDW you are basically saying there is money to spend if we think player is worth it (value, attitude etc) that I hoped would be a minimum for deciding to but a player. But that’s for your replies hopefully all the ‘we have no money’ people on here will relax in the future.

Because nobody else bought anyone expensive?

Spot on, West Derby Wanderer. Many of the people who keep crowing that LFC not having have money, are prolly saying that cos FSG will not sign who they want, IMO. When Pep sends 165m on CB's, it's cos he made mistakes signing Stones and Laporte for 100m so he has to spend 65m on Dias to fix his failures. If LFC LFC get VVD wrong, we are well and truly screwed for the next 4 yrs just like Utd have been with Maguire.

That's the margin of error we are dealing with in comparison to City, Utd and Chelsea who had to spend 100m on the donkey to fix the 53m mistake of Timo Werner. We cannot afford such monumental mistakes, end of. We all know how our finances work as ED02 has informed us on it for the past 18 months (just as you have elaborated on in your post) BUT it is never seems to be enuff. Sad.

Let’s not go overboard as always the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The owners should have bought a player in the summer it was obvious we were one short. Now they have made the signing it’s of course better late than never. We would be closer to City if the owners had done their job properly in the summer.

In addition we don’t know if the signings are because Salah is going to be sold.

Our way is more Rewarding for fans than the city way. i mean which team even though they have spent loads more have their stadium filled to capacity each week?

31 Jan 2022 14:04:42
Newcastle have spent more than twice of what we spent so how can we have spent more than anyone in English football?

31 Jan 2022 15:51:01
Agree Mark not everything is black and white. The owners don't have to be one or the other.

For me they've done plenty well and they've made plenty of mistakes, i think every fan would like their club to spend more but that's the nature of the beast.

The pro FSG brigade will happily bask in this but on the other hand they've spent the last 6 months telling anyone who would listen we don't need to sign anyone. Well obviously Klopp didn't get that memo and must agree with the fans who insisted we did and FSG needed to spend.
