Gonna put my bock on the clock here but i genuinely think Harvey Elliott will be as good as Modric/ Iniesta.

(Don't let me down Harvey, i'm quite fond of my bock) .

{Ed0666's Note - wow that’s high praise my friend

Agree0 Disagree0

Iniesta is one of the greatest ever players. It’s highly unlikely he will be that good but let’s keep our fingers crossed that he’s even half as good as that’s better than most!

07 Feb 2022 20:13:17
You know what, I’ll also put my bock on the clock. If he knuckles down, stays injury free and listens to those around him he can reach the levels mentioned by MK. It’s all up to the lad where he wants to take his career and how he wants to be remembered when it’s said and done.

07 Feb 2022 20:20:59
Respect your opinion mk.

07 Feb 2022 20:23:06
Steady on. Iniesta maybe gets in an all time world 11. Modric was the best player in the world for a while. It’s very very optimistic. If he gets to Bernardo Silva’s level I will be more than happy.

07 Feb 2022 20:24:15
Sorry didn’t finish last post modric yes Salah yes inesta probably not.

07 Feb 2022 20:31:11
Don’t know about that mk, but I think he’ll reach the heights of Gerrard for sure.

07 Feb 2022 19:51:59
Well without it 666, i'm not sure the missus would stick ar- ohhhhh you meant the bit about Harvey 😳

In all seriousness he looks special. I cannot wait to see him reach his potential in the coming years. If he's this good at 18, and even after 6 months out, imagine how good he'll be in 3 years with 100+ games under his belt. It's frightening. Great person as well by all accounts. Between Trent and Elliott the right side of our team will be lethal with or without Salah. Hendo's going to have a job keeping his place in the team in the 2nd half of this season.

{Ed0666's Note - I just wish he’d shave off that bum fluff it’s annoying. If he’s trying to emulate Gomez he’s not doing a very good job. On the football side of life I honestly think the kid is burnt out by 25. Who can keep up that industry and work rate for 10-15 years. He really is a unique talent and he’s a Liverpool fan as well which makes it even more warm and fuzzy. I just hope he doesn't discover sex, drugs/rock & roll/grime drugs and sticks to video games and a Keto diet and we’ll be golden.

07 Feb 2022 20:41:40
My gut says MK is right. When he came on against Cardiff i definitely saw shades of Iniesta. I’m not right about anything but when my gut tells me something it’s almost never wrong! I’ve seen virtually nobody play with that level of composure and maturity at that age aside from Rooney and Messi. If he can just get a run in the team i’m sure the doubters will see that is the level he should be aspiring for.

07 Feb 2022 20:44:51
Big pressure on a young lad we’d all hope for good things but one step at a time.

07 Feb 2022 20:51:00
I know it's a mental prediction but I'm sticking to my guns! Special player. Thank Fowler he's a Liverpool fan 🙏🏻.

07 Feb 2022 21:00:51
If he works as hard as those two and stays relatively injury free I'm going to agree with you MK, there's a hell of a long way to go but he might just be the best thing since sliced bread ( never understood that saying, I mean its not hard to cut bread unless your using a hammer or a potato or a fridge) .

07 Feb 2022 21:15:45
Let’s be realistic, he’s not as good as Foden yet let alone modric/ iniesta. He has got massive potential but whether or not it’s as high as becoming one of the best in the world is a different matter. Let him develop and see where he ends up. Could be a dele Ali type player and peak early and fade away as with a lot of young English talents when the fame and money gets to his head.

Of course if he turns out to be even close to world class I will be over the moon just think it’s a massive statement based on very little evidence.

07 Feb 2022 21:34:57
Ace red I know it’s about opinions but Modric better than Iniesta you are having a laugh - iniesta is streets ahead - one of the greatest mids to ever play the game.

07 Feb 2022 21:50:15
I do love the optimism… but I do think it’s getting carried away a bit! Iniesta and Modric are two of the best midfielders of the past 15 years.

I really hope you guys are right but there’s a very very long way to go before he can even be compared to them.

Personally I hate labelling someone the “new …” or comparing them to greats as it generally never ends well. Best to let the kid play and make his own mark on the game.

07 Feb 2022 22:23:37
AW I don’t understand your point at all. Elliot doesn’t have any doubters and nobody said he shouldn’t aspire to that level, of course he should. Literally everyone thinks he is a special talent.

07 Feb 2022 23:56:45
Not doubters as such Mark but more boo boys of other clubs, and even some of our fans being negative nancy's. I remember in the summer I was convinced he was ready and would have a huge part to play in our season, even if all the evidence I had amounted to a few cameo appearances and a loan spell at Blackburn.

I had seen all I needed to see and was convinced he was more than ready, but was tempered by a lot of people saying he was overrated, not quick enough, needed another loan or that at the very least I should temper my expectations, that he was just another young prospect who needed time. I was convinced that what I felt at the time was right and I hold my conviction steady now.

I do believe we are talking about a player who should end up as one of the best in the world. The talent is obvious but he seems to have the elite mentality to match as well. Everyone who has ever trained with him speaks of him in the same way people talked about the greats when they were that age, and if you believe what they say, he seems to get better every week he trains. This isn't just another young player we're talking about here and I don't think anybody needs to temper their appraisals one bit.

Also Josh, Elliott seems to already have an elite mentality and consummate professionalism, unlike Foden who I think is a smidge overrated. That could change, but I don't think it will. It's something you either have or you haven't, and I think Elliott does. The only thing holding him back from being perceived as superior to Foden is that he hasn't managed to imprint himself on the wider public consciousness because of his injury, whereas I have seen all I need to see. Horses for courses obviously but by and large I'd rather have him in my team than Foden.

Slight aside, you can cut bread using the ice maker in a fridge.

And yeah, Harv's different gravy.

07 Feb 2022 23:12:51
I still remember Bruno Cheyrou being "the next Zidane".

It's going to be great watching him develop, he can't have many better coaches or squads to help him achieve that huge potential. He'll still be feeling his way back after that layoff, so we shouldn't be expecting world class performances every time he sets foot on the pitch. He's a youngster, he's liable to have ups and downs in form too.
Fingers crossed he stays injury free. His maturity, talent and hard work will take care of the rest.

08 Feb 2022 01:27:15
We could always just let him be the first Harvey Elliot and see how far that takes us. Just saying.

08 Feb 2022 02:32:41
Like Falanagan the next Cafu @FlashRed 😀😀😀. This forum is funny. So much overhyping.

08 Feb 2022 09:31:20
WDW, in my defence i never said "the next Modric/ Iniesta". Only that i think he'll reach their levels. I know there's so many variables at play, but it's just a prediction 🤷🏻‍♂️ not saying he will or presenting it as fact, it's purely my opinion. I cannot recall seeing another young player with this much ability and humility combined. That's a great mix to have!

08 Feb 2022 11:35:53
Nobody said Flanagan was the next Cafu, everyone called him ‘Scouse Cafu’ as a joke. That is not something I would expect you to understand in fairness because, if it is indeed you Harry, scouse humour might be lost on City fans such as yourself.

08 Feb 2022 12:22:45
MKS, Modric is approaching 40 and is till one of the top mid's on the planet. The guy literally gets better with age. The most complete CM for the past 5 years in Europe, IMO.

Iniesta? IMO, he is actually better than Messi and if there was no Iniesta, there is no Messi or rather, he would not have had the success he had early on in his first 5 years or so.

Now saying Elliott will be just as good as both monuments of the game is high praise BUT let's pump the grapes and let the kid progress and actually finish a full season before we lay such aspiration on the kid, shall we?

08 Feb 2022 14:34:29
I think Elliott can surpass Iniesta and Modric because I don't remember them having beards.
I bet Elliott's beard is warm and fuzzy, too.

08 Feb 2022 18:16:00
He'll be the greatest player we've ever had by the time he's 21. Unless he misses an open goal or a penalty in which case he'll be worse than Keita and need to be shipped out pronto, and replaced by £100 million Carlos Kickaballski.

09 Feb 2022 00:24:02
For me Foden isn't in he same league as Harvey, a year or two further along maybe, but already worrying signs about his lifestyle choices.
