Ed001, I posted on Monday about my hopes for the summer transfer window in regards to incomings, what would you do regarding outgoings?

Personally, I’d offload Keita at the earliest opportunity regardless of what is offered, one of the worst signings I can remember for a long time. Injuries and just a real lack of effort have driven me crazy for the past 3 years!

If a good offer came in for mane, I’d consider it, not that he’s done anything wrong, he’s just not hitting the same heights as a couple of years ago and given his age, his value will only decrease over time.

I’d also allow origi and minamino to leave as their game time is going to be severely restricted with the Diaz signing and Elliot being able to cover the front 3 should there be injuries. I wouldn’t extend milners contact either, he’s been and excellent signing and player since he joined but he just hasn’t got the legs any more, he’s become a liability in the middle of the park.

And lastly, I’d probably consider offers for matip, I am constantly nervous when he’s in team and with VVD, Konate and Gomez, we should be ok in the CB position next season.

{Ed001's Note - I would get rid of Keita, just release him whatever, just get rid. Matip and, sadly as I like him, Ox would be sell for me. I really don't like Matip in the team, he has lost his way as a defender and reverted to the player we first signed. He has no reading of the game and never spots when a player is in space on the ball and so never drops at the right times. I am in agreement on Milner's time being up, but it will be a shame to lose his attitude and mentality from the squad. Maybe ask him to do a similar role to the one a lot of teams are now doing with having a veteran in the U23s to guide the kids? Not sure if he would want to do that though.

Mane and Bobby would be the two I would be willing to lose, one or the other I think this summer, with the other the following - unless Salah is not going to sign a new deal, in which case he will be the one who will have to go. I hope not, but that is my fear as I would hate losing Salah.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I’d keep Minimino to be honest, just what you need in a squad player, and you still have to consider injuries, loss of form etc. Both Jones and Elliot are still young so will have spells out of form.

I look at the U23 teams we put out and find some of our results puzzling, especially the recent 3-0 defeat. I wonder if Milner would be a good replacement for Gary O'Neil (who I assume we didn't replace) with a view to him stepping up to full time U23 manager later?

Have to agree with Keita, Ox, Matip and one of Mane or Bobby. The more I see of Bowen, the more I feel he could be trained into a false 9 like Bobby was. He's got an intelligence as well as a strong work ethic that makes me think under Klopp he'd pick up the mantle from Bobby with aplomb. What do you reckon Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - I like Bowen, but we already have plenty of options for that position, such as Jones and Elliott who show similar traits but with the added bonus of being Liverpool fans that have desire to play for us.}

That's half of the team gone then.

Wouldnt surprise me to see Tsimikas go if someone offered big money for him. Good player but if he wants to go and his sale helps us towards a signing Jurgen wants i could see the club letting him go. Also Klopp seems to rate Beck too and doesn't really worry too much about back ups in the fullback position.

09 Feb 2022 14:36:23
Players can leave if we replace them with better ones.
I don't know how we'd realistically replace Salah though.

09 Feb 2022 14:52:44
@Jadon
What is the benefit of selling Tsmiskas? And who is replacing him dude? Mr Milner?

09 Feb 2022 16:15:53
I don't think we need to sell Matip per se, as3 senior CB's could leave us light. I just think Klopp needs to make a decision and stick with it on who is the preferred CB partnership.

{Ed0666's Note - I really hope klopp doesent overlook Joe

09 Feb 2022 17:10:59
I really feel that Matip gets a bad wrap for being gangly AF! 😂.

{Ed0666's Note - I wish he’d just shoot when he goes on them lazy runs. Strikers should from tighter angles than him

09 Feb 2022 17:57:46
Didnt say its what i'd do transition but look at Klopps time here he has never put much weight in the backup fullback position and seems to be happy to let a kid or other squad members cover there. And i could see a lot of teams being interested in Kostas this summer.

For me out of the forwards its Bobby. We say Mane isn’t reaching his usual heights but his output has been better than Bobbys the last few seasons including this one. Plus he is on almost half his wage.

Mane will fetch more in the transfer market but with them both having 12 months left on their contracts in the summer it wouldn’t be much more. Plus it would surely be cheaper to extend Manes contract than Bobby who is our 4th highest paid player.

Look we need to sell to buy so am we have to move keita, nat, milner and one of ox/ thiago in the summer. Ox and thiago are available for at max 50 percent games in a season and that's just not good enough whatever talent they have. And with hendo also spending time on bench a lot as he is in 30’s we need a midfielder that's a solid 8/ 10 every game and can play 50 games a season.
Also ox thiago and milner free up atleast 400k of weekly wages which can help sort out salah situation

I would not lose mane or bobby or salah this summer. They are the reason for our success. Prime prime ballers.

Gomez should be kept at all costs. With konate coming in it gives us 4 solid options at Centre half. Plenty of games for all who stay fit.

Kostas is a lot more happy with his role now and his importance to the squad. Keeper at all costs. The best back up we could have for robbo.

Gomez and konate can cover rb all be it at dimished attacking capacity.

I see summer of 23 being a bigger overhaul in midfield but with jones and elliot have another full season next year maybe not so much.

Some decent youth players could hopefully break through such as gordon and the polish messi.

Just what i would like to see this summer. don't know if bellingham and schick would be possible deals all factors considered.

Outs
Ox 30 million
Keita 25 million
Firmino 20-25 million
Nat phillips 10 million
Neco williams 10 million
Origi free
Adrian free
Karius free
Milner free

A hell of a lot of wages freed up with outs.

Ins
Promote from within
Bellingham 90 million
Patrick schick 30 to 40 million
4 year deal for salah.

09 Feb 2022 20:27:09
Wolverine, I'd lay off the wacky baccy if I were you, 30m for Ox?!

09 Feb 2022 21:55:21
Stuie

30 million is a decent price for ox. he's still under 30.

Iwobie went for that. Dele ali just went for 40.

Wood was just bought for 20.

Unless you were saying 30 was too cheap wink wink.

We would get 25 to 30 easy for ox if we put him up for sale.

09 Feb 2022 22:46:07
Why is everyone so obsessed with buying and selling players? That’s the club’s concern.

It’s like Championship Manager on here today. Or a bring and buy sale.

10 Feb 2022 07:43:05
You’ll probably find everything discussed on here is the clubs concern.

Not unless fans are now involved in picking the team, formations or contract negotiations etc.

10 Feb 2022 08:29:05
Got to laugh at folks wanting 9 or 10 players sold per window just to raise cash to sign players to replace them.
Transfers for transfers sake.
