As much as it’s great to see Manchester City (in particular Bernardo Silvia) rattled. We can’t rely on them to drop more points this season.

We have to focus on our own game and make sure we take the pressure of ourselves and put the pressure all onto city.

Go about our business like we have been doing and then at the end of the season what will be will be.

The crunch game is the the game between us and city and I have no doubt we can and will beat them.
But like I say we just have to go about our business keep winning games even if it’s an ugly 1-0 or 2-1 just keep the momentum going and see where we are come the end of the season.

Itd be fantastic to win the quadruple but I don’t want myself or others to get carried away just take it one game at a time!

YNWA.

Tomorrow night is more important than the City game.

Call me insane but i don’t get this whole ‘we can’t rely on them to drop more points this season’ thing. I think people have been conned into thinking this seasons City side are better than they are.

They had a bit of a shaky start to the season, then they had a decent run for 6 games or so. Then the Omicron wave hit, which didn’t affect their squad at all but did affect everyone else’s. They were playing against seriously weakened teams every game for a good month, while everyone else was toiling with availability issues and inconsistencies in the rulebook.

Then they’ve had at least 4 games off the top of my head since then where they have been handed wins by some of the most shocking refereeing decisions that i’ve ever seen. The penalty reversal against Southampton, the penalty they were gifted against Wolves, the Arsenal sending off and penalty, the Everton handball. All decisions were very late in the game, against opposition that were besting them, and none of them were even close to being debatable. Big teams often get controversial or debate worthy decisions but there is often at least a conversation to be had, yet all of these decisions were universally accepted as some of the worst we’ve ever seen.

Bearing all that in mind, maybe it’s the case that City have been saved from dropping points earlier in the season through good fortune alone. Obviously we have to keep up our level and the Arsenal game will be extremely difficult, as well almost every game in the run in, but are we sure City are as scary and intimidating as they are being made out to be? Has to be acknowledged that they are creating lots of chances still, but whereas they should have a Kane or a Ronaldo to be finishing them off, they opted for Grealish instead. Therein lies a large part of their problem.

Maybe them dropping points every 3/ 4 games really is an accurate reflection of their current level?

Dont see why fans should not dream of a quadruple. As of now its possible so why not. We need to hope our players stay fit and its on. Fans would be better putting positive energy into dreaming of 4 trophies instead of contract situations. Always looking into the future instead of living in present.

OP, pretty sure nobody is relying on City to drop any points so not sure where you are getting that from. We have to win ALL our games to win the title and City dropping 7 points in the last 7 games does not change any of that.

Robbo said in an interview during the 19/ 20 season that the mindset of the team was, "Assume City will win all their games". I believe that is the mindset of team now so if City drop points? Yay BUT we got to take care of business regardless of that. If you want something done right, you got to do it yourself and that is the position we are in right now and that is all you want in the end: Control your own destiny.
