Alison and Ederson both Brazilians tied on 16 clean sheets for the Golden Glove.

Ali's played less games i reckon.

That is the only place where they are on par with each other.

Ederson is a good keeper in fairness. He’s a weaker shot stopper and not as commanding as Ali but i’d rather have him than a goalie like Mendy or de Gea. They are fraudulent goalies that look far better than they really are by playing in such negative teams. They’d get absolutely mauled if asked to play in a team with a high line, yet so many people cream their kecks at the sight of a goalie flying across the goal to make an easy save. Does my head in.

{Ed077's Note - are you saying DDG isn't a very good shot stopper? Really?

Aw as LFC fans we’re not allowed to compliment players from other teams.

@JK 😁😁 It’s a shame really because I think both Emerson and Mandy are pretty good. It helps that they are playing in good teams of course but both of them are useful at stopping the ball from going into the net which is what they are supposed to do. I was saying the other day that I thought DDG wasn’t at the standard he was a few years back but with Wan Bissaka, Varanne, Maguire and Shaw in front of him you have to cut him a bit of slack.

It made me laugh reading the BBC site about the England squad and the bit that said Shaw is ‘the only recognised left back in the squad’. It’s funny that he is described as a left back and it shows how lucky we are with Robbo and that mad Greek lad.

I think fraudulent is a unfair on de Gea and Mendy. They're good 'keepers (well de Gea is when in the right mindset, let's not forget what his last couple of seasons before this one were like), just some way short of the level of Alisson who is an excellent keeper.

The closest thing to a 'fraudlent' goalie in the PL, in the sense that he's massively over-rated and makes unnecessary 'camera saves', is Ramsdale. Chucks himself at shots that are close enough that he could get to them far more comfortably if he just shifted his feet.

{Ed001's Note - so does Mendy. He is exactly the same as Ramsdale.}

I do not understand the hype around Ederson. He is excellent with his feet but I can think of at least 3 errors off the top of my head (Salah in 2018, Son in 2019 and Mctominay in 2020) that's without even really looking.

He constantly makes errors but never ever seems to get the treatment Alisson gets for making the odd 1. He is a poor shot stopper. Cannot command his area at all.

People comparing him to Alisson are delusional. He rarely faces any shots which is why he is always in the run in for Golden Gloves.

Ramsdale is a joke, Ali catches half the shots he fingertips over the bar for dramatic effect.
Crazy how the press seem to love his Oscar winning performances?

On Alison one thing does concern me. He does control the ball well but waits until the very last second to release the ball when pressed by an opponent. I just feel he risks a bad injury if the striker lunges at him.

The thing about Alisson is apart from the risks he takes at times with his passing, he’s actually boring to watch. He just saves with no frills that it makes it look like the shots he faced aren’t that good anyway.

But that’s where hai greatness lies. His anticipation; positioning, reaction is so great that he hardly has to make that full body stretch and flying in the sky dives. And I think at this point I’m expecting, rather than hoping, he saves in 1 to 1s. He’s that good. And will be shocked when he gets beaten as his near post.

I’ve never seen Ray Clemence play but I guess we finally have a keeper at this level? That he shocks you most of the time not by what he saves but by what he did not save, because they are that good that when beaten, you wonder, how could it have been? It should have been too easy for them.

Sgynwa, and that is the greatest compliment you could pay to Ali. He is boring and that is exactly the way I like my GK to be.
