Just wanted to say that I have been an outspoken critic of Bobby in recent seasons. Love him to death for his prior form but the last few years it is been waning and the link up play that made him so invaluable was running dry.
When he came in v Arsenal he was back to his old self and it was great to watch. I’m not talking about his goal either as I don’t judge him by that. He just played great and I loved it. Long nay it continue as if he gets back to his old form he could stay with us for a while yet, likely far longer than both Mane and Salah who’s pace will both wane eventually.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Bobby started of the season quite well. He was unfortunate to get injured and has struggled to get a look in since. We will need all our players between now and the end of the season. Its hard not to admire Firmino. He plays football the right way and with the right attitude.

I also don’t really get the shouts about Bobby’s demise, based on form at least.

In 2019/ 20, where some people claim his decline started, i distinctly remember his first half of the season was some of the best form he’d ever showed. Second half of the season was mixed but most of the criticism came down to the not scoring at home thing, even though his away record was really good. Sure he scuffed a lot of shots, but his all round play was great.

2020/ 21, he was rubbish and suffered in the same conditions many great players did; Alisson, Trent, Robbo, Mane, and that’s just if you’re talking about Liverpool players. In my mind i don’t count it as a real season of football tbh.

This season he’s looked pretty good in spurts, but then gets injured immediately after. That’s where the concern lies for me, not in his form, but as to whether a previously ever-available player is suffering from their body breaking down.

Bobby is still very capable of doing Bobby things, it’s just about whether he can stay fit enough to be able to contribute consistently. I’m sure we’ll see him lots in the run in if he does.

18 Mar 2022 21:11:13
Westwood, don’t no what your seeing. Bobby pivotal to the team even when his flicks and tricks don’t come off. If he’s fit he starts v city and all the big games ahead. It will be like when Hansen retired when Bobby stops playing for us.

18 Mar 2022 21:50:40
I'll be fair to bobby he's done half decent when he's been called upon this season. He's had games where he has been unnoticeable too though.
He should of gone 2 years ago atleast though. 100% has to go this summer.
Not knocking him but to suggest he'll be going longer than mane and salah is ridiculous.
Been alegend for this club and always will be. however he ain't no fowler.

18 Mar 2022 22:12:21
Magico sorry mate can you name many other attacking midfielders that score as many as Bobby in a season buddy? He's not an our and out goalscorer but mane and salah score more when he's in the team. There's allot of very good reasons for that.

18 Mar 2022 22:33:29
Bobby was fantastic on wed. But it was 35 minutes against an Arsenal Defence that has already played 55 mins.

For the good of the club I’d love to see all of our 5 forwards hitting form right now but Bobby has to do a little bit more yet before he starts getting put forward for player of the season or talks of him being a better long term player for us over Mane and Salah.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m Bobby’s biggest fan I think the man needs a statue at Anfield when he leaves that’s how highly I rate him. I think he’s in the winter of his career at Liverpool as he just doesent do the Bobby stuff consistently like he used to and we can’t be sentimental and give him a new contract. Maybe he has a renaissance and he proves me wrong (I truly hope so) but if it was me I’d be moving Bobby & Sadio in the summer.

18 Mar 2022 22:55:11
Ed, that may be true BUT you are missing one major thing and that is Klopp. You may say sentiments have no place here BUT Klopp is not someone to run players esp those he likes and that have produced for him over time outta town. I mean. Divvy had chances to leave us and had Klopp really tried, he would be gone yet he’s still here.

All I’m saying is that don’t expect Bobbie to be sold if Klopp is not arsed if he is willing to stay on say, reduced terms. Klopp did this at Dortmund where he kept Sebastian Kehl as club captain even tho the guy rarely played so don’t be surprised if Bobbie is still here next season.

{Ed0666's Note - it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he stays but I think it’s time he moves. Wether the club thinks it’s best to keep him for another year and let him leave on a free I don’t know. Maybe they think his vast experience is worth savouring rather than the 15-20 million we could possibly get in a transfer fee I don’t know. As I said I’d let mane and Bobby leave get hopefully 40-50 million and put it in the transfer kitty.

Ed066 can’t really argue with that mate. But would be a huge gamble to lose 2 of the 5 forwards in the summer. Plus it appears a lot of fans want Salah out as he’s apparently on the decline. That would go from 5 class forwards to Diaz, Jota and Mino left as Origi is potentially off as well.

Redjoe I agree mate. Bobbys been injured quite a lot this season and it’s been horrible watching Salah and Mane struggle to find the back of the net in all those nil nil draws we had.

{Ed0666's Note - Diaz has shown players who are scouted correctly can hit the ground running mate. Yes it’s a gamble getting rid of mane & Bobby bit say we get two players to replace them and they are better?

18 Mar 2022 23:17:46
As long as Bobby as doing the job on the pitch Klopp wants him to do, there's no reason to get rid of him.
He's still one helluva player, and if he's not quite hitting previous heights he's definitely not ready to be put out to pasture.
It'll come down to whether he's happy with the amount of minutes he gets on the pitch.

18 Mar 2022 23:22:31
I will not entertain ideas of Bobby being sold. It’s Friday night I’m going to assume your all p. ed ( I know the odds of that are slim, so for those of you who are not p. ed your daft! ) as for sadio he may not be the goal machine of 2 years ago but he still has 2 defenders and a midfielder kicking sh*te out of him every game which allows space for mo. OliRed as for div he has earned his right to loyalty he repays it every season wolves a few weeks ago Say no more!

18 Mar 2022 23:25:24
This club is currently hitting the heights that we haven’t for years and years. Yes we won a League and CL but that was over 2 separate seasons. We are currently competing for 4 trophies and whilst Diaz has been a revelation Mane, Salah, Jota and Bobby have contributed individually and as a team a hell of a lot to that over the season.

For me it would be madness to be on this cusp of greatness to then rip up the framework in the summer by selling 1, 2 or 3 of them in the hope that we can find other players that can be just as good. Yes teams have to evolve and players move on but to me it looks like this squad is in its prime and hitting its peak. Either that or we’re just lucky to be where we are then.

If it was that easy then everyone would be competing for 4 trophies.

18 Mar 2022 23:13:21
Ed066 Diaz has been fantastic mate and the 3 of Salah, Bobby and Mane have been sensational for the club in their time and all 3 will go down in history with the club.
Replacing those 3 is a massive ask. Trying to replace the 3 in one window for me would be a huge gamble.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not of the opinion Salah leaving is so cut and dried. We have Jota that is effectively replacing Bobby and Diaz has replaced Mane. I suppose we’ll find out in the summer mate what the club and players have in mind.

18 Mar 2022 23:36:37
Ed066 agree mate. It’s just all opinion at the mo mate and always good to debate on here.

If Salah does sign a new contract then there’s going to be quite a few upset posters on here as they were happy to stick him out with the recycling this time last week.

{Ed0666's Note - I truly hope he signs. Every day you hear gossip, whispers etc about the situation but very very very few people know the real scoop. I heard something credible the other day but I have no way of knowing it’s credible apart from that the guy that told me told me to keep it quiet so I will. But I stress it could be absolute bollox or could be true. The point is no one knows. It’s all pie in the sky at the moment. Would love Mo to sign as I can’t see our team without the guy for the next couple of seasons but if he is to go I’ll understand why FSG chose to let him go. I have absolutely no doubts they have/will do everything to keep him.

19 Mar 2022 08:04:41
I said a couple of months back that I thought Bobby’s legs have gone. I’ll stick by that but I’d say he still merits his place for his football brain, if nothing else. Like Thiago, he makes players playing around / off him much better players.

19 Mar 2022 09:05:12
I think Bobby has scored 9 goals this season in all comps from 25 games, a lot of sub appearances in those 25 games. It's not a bad return to be fair.

19 Mar 2022 09:25:00
Reduce sorry mate. you say he's an attacking midfielder? He plays centre on a front 3 making him a striker. Now his return over last few years as a STRIKER is poor. Put kane or lewandowski there for instance.
As the eds says. its time to move him and mane on. Maybe sign Bowen and nunez.

19 Mar 2022 09:49:53
Our forwards are currently 1st Salah, 2nd Jota and Joint 3rd Mane in the Premier League goal scoring charts. Throw into that Bobby has scored 5 also.

We are definitely spoilt as LFC fans when not just on this post but others there is talk of selling all 4 of them in the summer 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣.

19 Mar 2022 09:15:49
Fair enuff, Ed. I also disagree that Mane should also be sold along with Bobbie. We cannot start ripping up our attack and the depth it took literally years to build in window just cos we think they are past their best whereas their current best still gets it done, just to get some cash.

Remember that Divvy is prolly off this summer and prolly Salah and prolly Mino so if that happens then that’s 4 guys gone in one summer if Mane is sold? Sorry bro, that ain’t happening. If Salah does not sign then I don’t see where Bobbie nor Mane get sold esp if we have to replace Salah as well. Experience in the squad is imperative, IMO. All I’m saying is that if the club dies not need to sell a player then, we roll with it.

{Ed0666's Note - personally mate I don’t think Mane is a weapon anymore, certainly not what he was and I think the difference between primo Sadio and Hulu man Sadio is stark. This may sound really illiterate of me but that’s my opinion. Would he get into City or Chelsea’s starting 11 that’s debatable? Where’s the first touch gone? Where’s the standing still explosion gone when taking on a man? Where’s the clinical finishing gone? He’s not great through the middle and we have Diaz and Jota for the role on the left. I love the guy and will continue to love the guy after he’s gone but the team comes before any player.

19 Mar 2022 22:59:13
Firmino just looks better. Since his injury he seems sharper and lighter on his feet. I’ve been of the opinion he’s looked slightly overweight past 18 months (for him)
He looks normal again now and I think it’ll benefit Bobby and Liverpool.

20 Mar 2022 13:52:23
The point of my original post was over the last few years Bobby’s goals have dried up. It’s not as if he was never a goalscorer either that one season he got 27 in all comps balms usually is around the 15 mark. That’s fine but he was never in the team to score so I judged him on his ability to bring others into the game, the little flicks and passes etc. in the last 18 months he has looked like Lukaku up top with the ball just bouncing off him. I watch every LFC game so I know what i see. He has been poor. The other day after s rest etc he looked like the bobby of old and I hope he continues like it cus if so he will become vital for us again.
