Antony Taylor ref v city, and paul Tierney on var. Unbelievable.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2022 13:49:18
Ah sure it'll make it all the sweeter when we beat their 13 men.

05 Apr 2022 13:53:06
I don’t know why they have a referee who is from Manchester refereeing a game with a Manchester-based team involved. It’s ludicrous.

05 Apr 2022 13:57:24
Both from Greater Manchester, right?

05 Apr 2022 14:52:01
I didn't think this was allowed eds?

{Ed001's Note - shouldn't be.}

05 Apr 2022 15:45:23
Reckon they will change it, don't get me wrong I don't think they will be biased but if there is a dodgy decision the headlines write themselves and the spotlight would be on the decision makers who put two Manc's as ref's for what is arguably the biggest game of the season.

05 Apr 2022 16:15:04
Noel and Liam linesmen go the full hog.

05 Apr 2022 16:18:08
This is unbelievable. Tierney not only cost us two points he did City a similar favour so he's responsible for us being a point behind and not three ahead. If there's controversy on Sunday we'll know why. As D15 said let's not leave any doubt. Michael Oliver is the stand out candidate to ref this game and I'd have Craig Pawson on VAR who I think has come a long way as a ref.

05 Apr 2022 16:24:17
We may as well not turn up heh…and the Americans didn’t land on the moon in ‘69!

05 Apr 2022 16:18:46
You reckon they will change it?

{Ed001's Note - no.}

05 Apr 2022 16:39:54
I don't see Taylor as biased but he doesn't let the game flow. Whistle happy. A good ref should be transparent in a game of this magnitude.

05 Apr 2022 17:34:34
I thought it was based on who the ref supported. Taylor, supposedly, supports Altrincham and Tierney, supposedly, supports Wigan.

I agree it does stink, though.

05 Apr 2022 18:01:37
None of them support a PL team funnily enough.

05 Apr 2022 18:17:26
Could it be that being from Greater Manchester they are more likely Man Ure fans and so dislike Liverpool FC and Citeh equally?

05 Apr 2022 18:50:34
Noel and Liam linesmen 😂.

05 Apr 2022 19:02:44
Didn't the authorities pull Mike Dean off several high-profile Liverpool games cos he lives on the Wirral (although he has reffed is in 'ordinary' fixtures), even though he doesn't support us?

Kinda not sure why the same doesn't apply here.

05 Apr 2022 19:39:54
Well the comedy duo of Kavanagh and Tierney both mancs and VAR/ Ref for city's handball at bitters and us at spurts. So yeah no consistency. Not shocking unfortunately.

05 Apr 2022 20:47:14
Is the d15 blanchardstown?

05 Apr 2022 21:57:52
Someone pulled Mike Dean off in several Liverpool games? I think I'd remember that.

05 Apr 2022 22:52:59
Walkon79, yep blanch.

05 Apr 2022 22:55:02
BBB, if that happened I think I'd rather not remember it 😂.

06 Apr 2022 12:08:09
I'm not suggesting this at all, but you can certainly understand why conspiracy theorists would think there could be something nefarious here.

06 Apr 2022 19:00:21
The issue we seem to be missing here is not so much who they support or whether they have anti LFC bias. The prob here is that you have to avoid any appearance of perceived bias towards/ against either team which is not happening here.

Tierney screwed is at Spurs and one can say on City’s behalf cams Everton in the Rodri handball. Then, Taylor lacked the bottle to send off Kompany in that 18/ 19 game at the Emptyhad for his wreckless and dangerous lunge on Salah as the last defender and had Sakai not jumped to protect himself, look out. If they continue to appoint refs from the Manchester area to ref LFC games then, they should expect blowback if they make blatant errors that penalise LFC. It’s that simple.
