Even if we do win on Sunday, I think we'll still need City to drop more points before the end of the season (which I think they will), because I can't see us winning another seven league matches on the bounce on top of the 10 consecutive wins we already have, which would become 11 if we win on Sunday. That would be a truly incredible run, especially with hopefully at least three more Champions League matches to come plus at least a semi-final in the FA Cup.

We've got some tough fixtures in the run-in. Understandably it's all eyes on Sunday at the moment but, whichever way it goes, I think there are more twists and turns to come and I don't think it's as simple as saying Sunday is the decider and that both teams will win their remaining seven matches after that.

we can win with 6 wins and a draw if goal diff stays better.

{Ed0666's Note - love me some facts thanks War!

The draws against Brighton, Brentford and Newcastle biting the arsenal. Ain’t it.

you are righy pal true champions win every game let's give it up.

I’d take an Fa cup loss and CL exit if it guaranteed us 8 more league wins and the league title.

Said it for A while we’re doing a quadruple regardless of Sundays result, off topic but I hate watching Manchester City it’s so boring. Hope Everton stay up though I’d miss the derby.

Same JK :)

The way I look at it is this, we can't look at it as we would of won 18 in a row and that's unlikely so we need city to drop points.

The team just need to take 1 game at a time and the previous run means nothing, and we all know we are capable of beating anyone on our day.

IF we beat city, it'll be out of their hands and we'd be in control of our destiny. But there is a long way to go so let's just shut the Gallagher boys up first and then on to the next!

Transition_Time - how have City gone against Palace and Spurs this season?

09 Apr 2022 07:33:08
WDW

Absolutely no relevance. If they lose the title then their fans will talk about the draws. I can’t see is beating spurs anyways. We have drawn far too many why we are a point behind them.

09 Apr 2022 09:10:01
Transition_Time, we beat Newcastle.

09 Apr 2022 11:30:16
Transition_Time,

Our draws have absolutely no relevance. If City lose the title then their fans will talk about the losses. They have lost far too many which is why they are just a point ahead of us.

Hang on, I apologise, that’s a really, really stupid argument. We all know that the team who has the most points after. 38 gams invariably deserves the title. For the life of me I can’t imagine how I came up with such a dumb argument.

09 Apr 2022 12:24:46
I think the draws are of massive relevance. As it stands, city have lost one more game than us but are still top, why? Because they have drawn only 4 to our 6.

We lost the league under Rafa by drawing too many games, United lost more games than us that year but still went on to win the league.

Too many draws cost.

09 Apr 2022 12:42:19
The team that wins the league then any points dropped will not matter. The team that comes 2nd will rue the dropped points that cost them. It’s the nature of the beast.

09 Apr 2022 19:58:54
Absolutely spot on JK.

All teams in the history of the game in whatever league they play in are in the same boat and can blame not winning the league on the points they lost, or am I missing the point?

The fact that we didn’t lose the games we drew means that we are two or three points closer to City and are only one point behind them with 8 games to go, rather than being 3 or four behind them.

10 Apr 2022 13:51:33
Harry, City could say the exact same thing so indeed it is of no relevance now cos it’s a clean slate now that we are neck and neck now. The past is the past. We are in the here and now so focus on that even tho I know, it’s tough for a City fan to deal with.
