Is ward ever going to get a chance at first team football or will we loan him for a couple of years and sell him? I rate him highly and feel he can be our number one keeper given a chance.

Having watched him regularly for Huddersfield Town this season, I hope he makes our first team squad at least next season, as back up to Karius if you ask me.
I agree, I rate him also but I'm not sure he's ready to step up to quite the level we need just yet. He needs a bit more experience at top flight level first and some good coaching to improve things like his kicking and his ability in one-on-one situations, things that are important in Klopp's system.
I'd love to see him given a chance to push Karius though next campaign. We'll have to see if, like Ed001 has said, he's ready to prove himself to earn a place in the squad.

We don't fancy loans. He will be sold in the summer.

I have a feeling Ward might want to leave at the end of the season. I can't see him wanting to sit on the bench after playing all season, being first choice at a good level of football. I think, for him personally he would be better finding himself a Championship club where he will play every week.

I've watched him quite a lot this year as I live in Huddersfield and attend a few games over a season.
From what I've seen of him he has the potential to be a good player but is clearly lacking experience for the Premier League level.
He has good reflexes and is a good shot stopper for sure, he's long in terms of his wingspan and quick off the mark meaning he's able to cover long distances pretty quickly. He's pulled off some massive saves for Town this year and doesn't shy away from the big moments in the big games.
The problems I've seen with him is his concentration level when its maybe not a massive game. He's made a few mistakes this year which have led to around 5 dropped points. His distribution needs work however he does have the ability to use either foot. The biggest issue he has is the lack of command he has within the ranks. Rarely do you see him confidently and comfortably come for set pieces and crosses. If he can work on that side of his game then he has potential to be a decent Premier League 'keeper.

"Rarely do you see him confidently and comfortably come for set pieces and crosses. "
Sounds like the stereotypical Achterberger trained keeper.

If we have any ambitions of winning the league, then we need a world class keeper. Which unfortunately Karius, Mignolet or Ward is not. None of them is going to save us 12 points a season, which is what is required to win the league.

Agreed more no 🤝.

Have to say Ron, I'm really surprised by how vocal you are about not supporting karius. You're mr positive usually and he's only played a handful of games.
He could still be our guy and think he deserves next season to prove it.
23 Feb 2017 18:28:19
I am as miffed as you are, 87red regarding Ron, the eternal optimist. Karius will be no. 1 next season as Ed02 has said so I suggest people get onboard and support him cos he will need it if he's to become the GK we all want. Besides, the top GK's won't be coming so might as well create our own and Karius has the talent necessary to be that. he just needs support and personal improvement which he has shown as without him, we wouldn't have had a chance in the EFL tie vs Saints so he IS talented.

Lads nothing will dull my optimism for LFC but Karius has a fundamental weakness in his game - exactly like Mignolet. That is he is hopeless with any ball above a height of 8ft.
In other leagues it is not as important. They protect their keepers more so it's not as much of a physical challenge and the style of football is not the same.
In the premier league as a keeper you have to be able to command your area. Karius can't even command the 6 yard area.
Evidence of our goalkeeper coach suggests that he can't change this in less than 3 years (Migs) which is why I KNOW Karius is going to have this problem in August 2017. You can bet every opposition scout and manager knows it too.
23 Feb 2017 19:37:07
Steady on Ron.
De gea's biggest issue was being bullied in the air and on crosses.
Not suggesting karius can reach his level but shows it isn't an issue you can't overcome.
23 Feb 2017 20:41:50
Or maybe it is the GK coach that is the problem, Ron. Are you biased towards this Karius lad or what? He's finished after ten games? Is that the new standard now for judging players cos if so, half our team should have been gone by now with that logic? He and Migs have the same issue as in catching a ball. Really? Who are you and what have you done with our Ron Kreague?
First of all, none of that is true as he hasn't played enough games to be judged adequately to see if he can command his area as he needs a settled back 4 in front him as well as needing to grow into the role, something that takes time, something you seem to have no intention of giving him.
Second of all, the boy is in a new league and like it or not, he will need time to adjust and with that, comes growing pains. Whether he will be great still remains to be seen so you nor I KNOW absolutely nothing about what will happen come this summer so stop acting like you do.
I and many others are fine with him being given a fair crack at being the no. 1 choice and so does Klopp and it will be up to him to show his mettle so I suggest you get over it and more importantly, yourself.
23 Feb 2017 23:22:26
Noah, I've said repeatedly "he is not ready".
I have never said he is finished.
It's not 10 games, I said it before he signed, I said it when posters on here were linking him. I said he has a lot to learn and has a lot of improving to do.
Nothing has changed and it is not going to change before August.
That's why "he's not ready". Same as everyone says Ojo is not ready but they want to sign Brandt. Has Ojo had much more than 10 games? Is he finished now? Of course not. I'm allowed an opinion of a player aren't I?
24 Feb 2017 00:06:48
87 - I think Karius differs from De Gea because De Gea did get bullied on crosses, but De Gea was at least going for crosses. Karius stands off, too hesitant.
And for Noah. Seeing as you know so much about what Klopp thinks, perhaps you can explain why the highly rated and obviously ready Karius is not playing ahead of the error prone Mignolet?
I would be grateful.
24 Feb 2017 02:10:15
You are allowed an opinion of course BUT I am free to disagree. Bottom line is that regardless of what you thought of him, no one really knows if he will be ready until he gets a fair crack at the position. That is just a fact regardless of opinion as no one knows what will happen except of course, if you can tell the future. Since you can't, let's wait and see what happens.
I thought Wiji was a mistake coming to us and right now, I'm happy to be proved wrong as he has been a good signing for us even tho I thought his arrival was a mistake. I was ready to give him time and that is all I ask from you instead of saying "nothing will change", something that no basis in fact, just opinions, which are not facts, FYI. Give the kid time to prove you wrong or right is all I ask.
24 Feb 2017 07:18:56
So Hamilton, how do people know Ojo isn't ready after a similar number of games yet it's ok for them to ask for signings like Brandt or Pulisic? Why the bias?
Klopp's not picking either of them, so evidence suggests they are both not ready.
24 Feb 2017 07:21:04
Hamilton I said "nothing HAS changed" not "nothing WILL change".
Nothing has changed since I gave my opinion before he signed. He is not ready he has a lot to learn and much improvement to make before he is good enough.
That has not changed and it looks like Klopp agrees with me.
