I cannot believe people are turning their nose up at Sessegnon because he is a teenager.

Wonder if those same people are glad we turned away Dele Alli and signed James Milner a couple of years ago?

Not a pop at Milner by the way. Love the guy and think he is a very under rated player, but I just wanted to point out that the safe experienced option is not always the best option.

I'm not against signing him, just making him first choice.

I think Ed02 has shared the reasons why some of us have reservations, although he looks a top talent if he didn't hit the ground running people would be tearing strips out of a guy who is essentially a child. Perhaps pereira would be the better option.

Who said he would be first choice? Milner will probably be the starting LB next season.

11 Apr 2017 23:02:29
You make out the club wanted Milner over Alli .

Alli did not join because FSG did not what to pay the money because they seen it to expensive.

Milner will definitely not be starting left back next season, he's beyond average, really poor crosser, slows down every attack as he turns on to his right foot and blocks phil's space and he is constantly being targeted by the opposition.

Our problems are obviously at the defensive end of the pitch - both in terms of basic organisation and personnel - but this has been the case for some time now and there's little evidence to suggest that this will change short term.

MK Scouser,

I mentioned this on a post before but I am a season ticket holder at Fulham and have seen a lot of him. I don't doubt that he isn't good enough, what worries me is that he may be a season away from being ready for us. What worries me is if we buy him, he has a few games in which he makes mistakes (like any young player would) and then some of the fans jump on his back, his confidence drops and he rots away in the reserves or is shipped out on loan numerous times around the country (like Markovic who many (including Ed002 herself) would agree was bought in a season too soon) .

From watching him play this season I think he could be exactly what we need long term! I just want it to be properly planned out, whether that involves him spending a season on loan back at Fulham or him being integrated into the team slowly in cup games, I don't know! The lad is only 17 (just? ) after all!

Red Sandman.

maybe the best option for the young lad, would be for Liverpool to buy him, but loaning him back to Fulham for the next season, to assist in his development as a player .

{Ed002's Note - The situation is such that Fulham will look to sign him to a professional contract and look to keep him at the club. They may be open to a proposal from another side that includes a player and a two year loan back but they will not look to a straight sale. It has been made clear to me today that there are also those still at Fulham who are reluctant to do business with Liverpool. So it is possible something can be done but it would be very difficult.}

lol what's the improvement if we keep the same backline next season? We need a change in personal coz we are poor at the back Drigan.

12 Apr 2017 15:39:32
I'm not saying the club chose one over the other. My point is that we refused to pay the money for Alli because of his age, and then signed a veteran instead for midfield who was costing 5 times more in wages. Alli is now the best goal scoring midfielder in Europe, and Milner plays at left back.

12 Apr 2017 16:03:36
Turned Down Alli for Milner? that wasn't the options.

12 Apr 2017 16:13:53
So you doubt he's good enough?

12 Apr 2017 20:23:21
I think everyone has missed the point of my post.

Sigh 😏🙄🙄.

Give Origi, Alli didn't come here cos the deal could not be done and NOT cos FSG did not want to pay the money. How do you reckon that? his fee was 5.5m if my memory serves me right so how do you know FSG pulled the plug. You do know the owners don't sign players nor give an opinion as to who to sign right? Stop projecting as it is getting tedious always blaming FSG with no evidence.

Personally, I couldn't be bothered if Alli did not come here. With the "genius" in charge and his "uncanny" ability to always play square pegs in round holes, Alli would prolly have been playing in goal or at DM or RWB or whatever. Just let it go cos BR would have no idea what to do with him just like he had no clue of what to do with Can, Lallana and Firmino. What makes you think Alli would have been different?

{Ed025's Note - the deal was not completed because ian ayre tried to play silly buggers with the dons, they wanted 5.5 and ayre offered a take it or leave it 5m and the dons refused...what a 22 carat pratt..

Chileanred, try reading it again. I never stated we turned down Alli "for" Milner. Only that we passed on Alli due to wages, but were happy to sign Milner on a far bigger salary; hence my point that the experienced option is not always the right option.
