I'm not saying sell hendo but say if Klopp what's a new captain who would you people like.

Agree2 Disagree2

Adam Lallana.

To be honest, I think that is one area we really struggle with - we don't appear to have too many natural
leaders in the squad. If I had to pick, I would probably say Lallana at this time, but would like to see a strong presence at centre back or midfield that has the qualities to captain the side.

Matip or Lovren.

The problem with Lallana for me is that I feel he talks too much. Maybe I'm getting old, but that Nivea ad makes me cringe and I wish he would just zip it sometimes.

{Ed001's Note - same with me. Never a captain in a million years, he is one of the biggest culprits for going missing when it matters, especially after he has been spouting off to the press.}

Milner.

21 Apr 2017 01:12:54
Lovren. seriously?

21 Apr 2017 01:22:36
Wijnaldum - has captained PSV before, is experienced and involved in everything in the middle of the park. Failing that perhaps Llalana.

Always thought lucas deserved a shake of the stick. The ammount of crap that guy used to take only to change everyones opinion on him and knowing everyone was calling for his head, shows commitment and grit.

Honestly next season we could have it that our captain is hendo milner our vice and Lucas our vice vice but none of these 3 could be playing if a midfielder is signed or hendo injured. Personally in this scenario I'd give it to coutinho see if he can take the next step to be a real leader on the pitch for us!

i think having watched all the matches and the available tunnel cam programs in our team we don't seem to have that leader bully in the team a captain needs to be very vocal lead by example and to some extent a bully as he needs to verbally harass players to get a reaction on the field, for example when Gerrard was captain he led more by example early on his captaincy and learned to be more vocal but he always had Carragher who whilst always led by example on the pitch was the verbal bully always talking and shouting
I just don't see that in this team.

I wouldn't pick Lallana because I can't see him staying in the starting line up for any more than another 12 months. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a substitute next season even.

Personally I would give it to a player like Firmino. I think the additional responsibilities would elevate him to a new level. He may not be your typical Carragher or Keane type leader, but he has that desire which drives others to work harder and the ability to win a game on his own at times. Kind of like a Gerrard type inspirational leader.

21 Apr 2017 15:15:18
If not Henderson I'd go with Milner.

21 Apr 2017 15:13:24
In a way, it's a sign of the times. The typical vocal leader that rallies the players and leads by example is becoming more and more scarce in the game. I struggle to think of too many out there.

21 Apr 2017 15:22:52
If Lallana is everyone's candidate then it's a sad indictment of the team's leadership stocks. No disrespect to Lallana, but he's not a leader that can galvanise a team. Not in a million years.

21 Apr 2017 19:16:33
Agree with Robin, Lallana is the only real option but it's a sad commentary on the state of our players leadership credentials rather than a glowing reference for Lallana.
