Spurs- Harry Kane
Chelsea- Costa
City- Aguero
Even everton -Lukaku
I think its blatantly obvious that we need an out and out striker up top someone who going to get us 20+ goals a season. Add that to the goals mane coutinho firmino etc are getting we will be in a good place. If klopp doesn't think that's sturridge then let him go and go get a quality forward. Hate to say it but don't think origi is the answer, hope he proves me wrong but don't think so. I no there are other areas that need addressing but got to score goals to win game at the end of the day.

We were top scorers in the league for the majority of the season. Scoring goals is not a problem. Especially if Firmino improves his finishing next season. Our problem is keeping the ball out of the net. Improvements in defending as a team is required.

27 May 2017 16:59:40
When we beat all of those teams this season why didn't they beat us? It's because our TEAM scored more goal than their 1 striker. If we had lukaku for example how many of the goals that we scored this season wouldn't we have scored? How many would coutinho, mane, firmino score if they were playing to set up a lukaku? As long as we score about as many goals as the top 4 clubs then it doesn't matter who scores them and guess what? We did. How many times was lukaku marked out of the game and Everton lose or draw? Wouldn't they prefer 5 players who are equally as likely to score? So if he has an off day the team lose. Main point adding 24 goal striker isn't adding 24 goals to our team it's adding 5/ 10 plus changing how we play. We can't simply add a player because you only play with 11. So you have to take out 1 of our attackers out to make room.

Disagree, scoring goals was and is not a problem, we have many players that chip in with goals, Mane, Firmino and Coutinho all in double figures for the prem, the issue was using the right tactics to break down rigid defenses.

I can't understand this clamouring for an out and out striker, we would then need to focus play through him rather than the effective interchangeable front 3 we have been playing with.

The priority should be creating a solid defence and teaching fullbacks and wingers how to cross a ball.

27 May 2017 17:17:14
Interesting stat, if you took out all of lukaku's goals this season Everton would have still finished 7th.

27 May 2017 17:46:44
lukaku did not show up against top teams he was a flat track bully.

27 May 2017 19:13:17
What about January and febuary? When mane was away, couthino injured then off form, firmino totally missing, we need a striker and maybe if we'd had one our challenge wouldn't have ended in those months,

27 May 2017 19:48:12
I suppose out and out strikers never go through goal droughts then?

Besides we only failed to score in 1 game during that period. The problem was goals conceded.

27 May 2017 19:48:35
Our GD was significantly behind the norm for title challengers. We need to improve that and a 20+ goal scorer is one way we could do that. I think scoring more will be easier for Klopp than conceding less.

27 May 2017 20:12:07
Lukaku might be a flat track bully but judging by our results against the lesser teams we could do with one of those too.

27 May 2017 20:44:57
Lukaku is not going to fit in at Liverpool. We found that out with Benteke. Yes Lukaku puts in more effort but anyone who thinks we could do with Lukaku at some ridiculous fee are living in lal la land.

Sturridge alone, injury problems and all will provide more movement than just waiting for the ball to be delivered at his feet or head.

27 May 2017 21:09:45
1 striker get injured you lose all your goals. prefer goals for lots of sources.
Jan-feb showed we need another mane type.

27 May 2017 21:11:44
Our GD wasn't as good as others because we conceded too many not because we didn't score enough. A Kane, costa or Lukaku won't solve this. tightening up our defence is what solves this.

27 May 2017 21:16:43
But when firmino decided to have like 3 months off scpring that's wheb the defensive problems where highlighed because we weren't scoring.

We need a 20 goal striker and is absolutelty shocking to say we dont.

Aubamenyang up top and we easily get second for me.

27 May 2017 21:31:29
Supermane, Klopp does not rely on one player to get the job done. We are up there with highest scorers without an out and out striker.

So Klopp needs to sign one player to get us 20 goals when goals are coming from all over the squad?

27 May 2017 21:57:31
Second gives no no more than 3rd or 4th Supermane, . I'd love if Aubemayang was available but we don't just rely on one player scoring. That's a dangerous tactic. Also a goal scorer would have to be able to play our style we won't change to cater for one striker otherwise we may as well have kept hold of Benteke. If the right striker is available and we are after one then of course it helps if his return is 20+ a season.

27 May 2017 22:51:16
Welsh, that's entirely subjective, we scored less and conceded more than our rivals. If we just concede less that's unlikely to be enough, we should look to score more too.

27 May 2017 23:55:26
No, we don't Squizza or Puttney. Our team was the fourth highest scorers in the PL this season and top 3 in goals scored since Klopp took over so clearly, a top striker is NOT what we need as for the upteenth time, goals are not our issue as any of our first eleven can score goals even the CB's.

We nee to stop concedinng stupid goals as that would improve the GD already while all our front three can always improve heir finishing.

We have issues elsewhere at FB, CM and out wide. Let us stop fantasizing over other team's and their top strikers as NONE of them, can cope with the way Klopp wants his CF i. e Firmino, to play.

28 May 2017 00:52:00
No one has mentioned Origis so called awful season.

Hes got 11 goals this season.
He has played within himself for a lot of the time, holding uo the ball for others to cone into play.

Not bad for a 22 year OLD.

28 May 2017 05:58:23
Oh soo sorry guys.

Aubameyang signs and coutinho, firmino, lallana, mane, wij all stop scoring? Is that what use mean?

Firmino 11 this term?

You wouldn't swap him for 23 from auba?

No. Sure?

The point of a striker is to bail you out when the rest aren't scoring. So when the rest went off the boil, firmino couldn't bail us out because he's not a striker with that instinct. he's a wonderful player and one of my favorites but a striker nopes.

Also second wouldnr of been better? How sure are you of that. It would of put us on about 87 points, guarenteed champions le, and a lot closer to a premier win season than we currently are.

If we have any shot for auba then we have to go for it.

Just for a second consider.

Karius
Periera matip lovren Betrand
Hendo
Mane firmino wijnaldum coutinho
Aubamayang

Migs, milner, gomez, can, lallana, brandt, origi

And for teams where going to hammer, you could swap wij for brandt/ lallana and put cou in the middle with one of them on the left.

Probably wouldn't want that though would you lads.

{Ed001's Note - actually you do usually find that a team which has one top scorer gets less from its other players.}

28 May 2017 06:06:39
One of the great things about this team is that it is not reliant on one person to score goals. There are 4 or 5 genuine goal threats on the pitch at any one time and more often than not they put the ball in the back of the net. That is not a priority and with ings coming back we have options along with studge and origi who i agree gets a bad rep dromq the fans but was only 4 goals shy of our top scorer.

28 May 2017 06:40:39
But say auba scored 25 then that's 13 more than firmino which means lallana wouldn't need any goals and you could knock a few off the otbers as he would of made up the difference.

But

How many chances did firmino squander and the rest still scored hatfuls. Do you not think having auba in those positions would of got us some more points.

Firminos everything but a natural finisher for me. Brilliant player.

Where only really talking auba at this moment in time but its like 30 each year the past 2 seasons. Jesus how can you not say we would be better off for that and would of had a higher finish this year aswel.

Kane scored 29 and ali got 19.

The midfield can still be productive!

{Ed001's Note - look it doesn't work like that. If Firmino is replaced by Aubameyang then you lose the pressing which created most of the chances. So no I just think you are dreaming. There are numerous instances of a title-winning side replacing a good striker, who works and creates for the team but doesn't score hatfuls, with a striker who scores hatfuls but does little else for his team and they have become a worse team. Firmino is central to our team, you can't just drop him for a top striker and think that is going to make things better. Life is not that simple.}

28 May 2017 09:19:11
There's fine tuning to be done that's for sure, we'll need to score a few more and concede a few less to challenge for the title.

I reckon Firmino in games which are open and the high press is most effective and an efficient goal scorer against more compact teams.

28 May 2017 10:52:50
Firminio is integral to our style of play. Probably first name on Klopps team sheet when fit.
