Am I the only one that is getting bored of all these Keita rumours? 70mil for a player most people outside of Germany have never seen.

Agree2 Disagree16

You're writing that as if (a) Germany is a weak league (b) The Bundesliga doesn't produce top players and (c) this is 1977 and no ones knows that there is a world beyond the Watford Gap Services. The lad is genuinely talented.

02 Jul 2017 22:53:48
Have you even seen this lad. Absolute quality. Worth every penny.

02 Jul 2017 23:22:05
Doesent make him a bad player if he's not well known outside Germany? I didn't know who Ronaldo was until he signed for United that didn't turn out to badly. Pathetic post. By the way Naby Keita is better than any midfielder we have at the club bar coutinho. I know that and I don't live in Germany!

In my opinion, Kieta doesn't start in our team. Gini is better box to box. Hendo is better holding. Coutinho is better attacking. Where does he fit when we already have Can, Lallana and Grujic fighting for sub appearances? I don't get it. For £30m maybe worth it if Lallana was leaving.

He isn't anywhere near worth £70m though and will not just walk into our team. Could turn out to be good for us, but unless he ends up like Steven Gerrard or Graeme Souness, he will never be worth that fee.

Keita has everything. Patrick Viera and Roy Keane rolled into one with a goal threat to boot. Even at the rumoured 70 million he's a snip. We paid 35 million for the alcoholic Keita is at least 3 times the player Carol was. Let's pay the money move on to a dominant center back and let's mount a sustained title challenge that doesent end in friggin December!

{Ed007's Note - I sometimes just sit and ponder if our lives are just a dream Roy Keane's having. For the last few months I've been arguing with my Priest that if you replace 'Jesus' in the Bible with Keano it makes a lot more sense. It mentions 365 times in the Bible, 'Do not be afraid' and there's 365 days between Keane's birthdays - think about it......}

Adam where do you get that rubbish from? I used to agree with a lot you said but recently I couldn't disagree more. A better box to box than Gini? I'm starting to think you haven't watched Keita play once as he is better all round than Gini and could well become one of the best midfielders in the world in the coming years, we should pay whatever it takes to get him.

03 Jul 2017 06:04:47
Kieta will walk into any midfield in Europe let alone ours! Adam is delude.

03 Jul 2017 07:01:22
Just don't see him as an upgrade. Think some people on here are suffering from "the grass is greener".

03 Jul 2017 07:18:03
Not at all MK. Keita is the sort of player you would love in your side. He is the young version of Moussa Dembele without any chronic injuries, which is world class. He is technically excellent. He has terrific vision to pick players. He can distribute the ball well. And more
Importantly he scores goals! An offensive CM whonis excellent defensively!
He will play slightly ahead of Can / Henderson on the right alongside Coutinho who will play on the left of a midfield three. It will be him and Wijnaldum that will be rotated.
TBH I am really happy with Klopp's tactics for the next season and his choice!
A midfield three of Can - Keita - Coutinho would be the best in the kegaue!
He was looked at by Arsenal to replace Carzola and Spurs to replace Dembele.

Two good posts from harry im afraid, like he said decent defensively but most importantly he is a ball carrying midfieder with excellent vision who also scores goals. Keita will help us win the league and i don't think it will take 70m to get him if he is intent on leaving. Just hope all the recent talk of agreeing terms does not mean we have been tapping up another player.

03 Jul 2017 09:09:44
Harry, Keita would not walk into any team in Europe as he would not make Real's, Bayern's and Barca's bench and no he is north worth every penny of the 70m, IMO so your comment is way off base.

I would love Keita in our team, no question. Now for the amount being asked for? No way as he is unproven and no one else is interested in him. Maybe that's cos he is not worth it. To me, that is the standard. He is not worth 70m and how do we know that? His release clause that kicks in in 2018 is rumored to be half that price. Even RBL never for one second, thought he's worth that amount.

The only reason 70m is the price is cos RBL don't want to sell so if a club is rich or dumb enough to pay the 70m, then they win either way. If Klopp wants to let himself get mugged in broad daylight then, that's his problem BUT that does not mean that he's a 70m player cos he simply is not.

03 Jul 2017 10:43:02
Couldn't agree more Harry.

03 Jul 2017 10:51:09
Mk you need to watch him play because you're abit wrong here. 2nd most dribbles in bundesliga. 6th most tackles 6th most interceptions. 8 goals 8 assists. This guy is a machine he does everything and does it well and he's 22.

03 Jul 2017 11:47:53
Brussels,

He is an upgrade on an aging Modric and he is light years ahead of Rakitic. The only few players he is inferior are Verratti ( arguably the best in that position ), Vidal. I can't name another. He would walk into both Real and Barca. He is a different breed to other African players. The kid is an excellent carrier of the Ball. He could take it and move a long along way without getting disposed.

He holds the record in setting up forward players more than any other CM in the league. He has the 3rd best record in tacking and breaking up of an attacking play in Germany. He is a Souness+Molby mould!

He will be worth a lot more than £70 mill next summer!

03 Jul 2017 17:21:32
Harry, you said it yourself. An aging Modric and Rakitic. At the same age, Keita is not in their league cos these players were simple beasts at 22. Compare what is comparable. The debate is whether Keita is worth 70m and the answer is no cos he is still unproven in Europe (one season in a top flight league as Austrian league does not count, sorry) regardless of his immense talent. Keep in mind that this is a price RBL put on him cos they don't want to sell and not cos they think he is worth that amount cos his release clause that kicks into gear in 2018 is 48m. That is what they think he is worth hence, the reason why we were ready to place a 50m bid for him which is borderline acceptable. Like I said, if Klopp wants to get mugged in broad day light then that is his problem BUT people should stop painting Keita as a 70m player with all types of cosmetics when even RBL initially, never thought he was worth more than 50m.

{Ed025's Note - i would not let it bother you brussels, they wont be knocking on your door for you to contribute mate..
