Got to say karius didn't look any better last night. Dropped ball under no pressure. Let ball roll under his foot.
Is he just to casual or what?
Migs still easy choice at #1 for me.
15 Jul 2017 10:32:28
And it begins.
15 Jul 2017 10:51:20
Begins what? I'm just saying he has had a year to work on stuff and looked no better in a zero pressure freindly.
15 Jul 2017 10:57:00
Do we need apply unhealthy pressure on the lad after a couple of mistakes in a friendly that nothing negative came of it.
15 Jul 2017 11:26:10
I think there's a difference between slating a player and giving constructive criticism. These lads get paid a hell of a lot of money so fans should be more than entitled to have their own opinion and voice them as long as it's not personal and deserved.
15 Jul 2017 11:38:12
Agree. He made poor mistakes and doesn't look good enough to replace Mignolet. Why shouldn't that be discussed? Some here are sooo pc and fragile. I'm sure Karius isn't crying into his £50k a week wage chq.
15 Jul 2017 12:12:27
Harsh to expect full focus in a pre-season friendly.
Can't say all the other players were faultless.
15 Jul 2017 12:49:51
Where all those others fighting for their place while needing to prove something? A professional on £50k a week that had a disaster last season should have been fully focused.
15 Jul 2017 13:09:07
Maybe it's for Ward to challenge them both and take the number 1 Jersey?
Baz.
15 Jul 2017 13:14:54
Kind of agree Ron but to stand a chance of starting against Watfo he needs to be pretty dam special in pre season and if he can't get motivated for it then he's got no chance.
15 Jul 2017 12:35:15
He will improve I'm sure.
15 Jul 2017 12:42:21
Can't expect full focus in pre-season, Ron? I can understand being rusty. I can understand trying some fancy trickery. I can understand not throwing yourself into a tackle that might cause injury. But if you can't be focused on your job and put in effort during pre-season, when you're being evaluated and compared to other players you're competing against, I'm sorry but why are you even playing? It also speaks to the player. It speaks of a lack of desire to compete and win, even if it is only preseason. I want players in our team that take it seriously and even personally in pre-season, 5 a side, or the season. Players like milner, Suarez, Stevie, hendo who you can see they want to be first even if it's checkers. So your excuse, to me, makes it worse than him just being bad on his first run-out in a while. But, was migs that bad in his first preseason? No. So for me, migs stays no. 1. But I would like to see ward get some preseason to throw his hat in the ring.
15 Jul 2017 15:51:36
Did anyone else make mistakes?
Did Studge miss the goal by about 5 yards?
Did Firmino fluff his lines in the middle of the goal when challenged by the keepers?
Did Lallana screw a few shots past the post?
Did Salah miss the goal from a few yards out?
Why the focus purely on Karius?
It's pre-season, you're not expected to peak in pre-season.
15 Jul 2017 16:13:10
Should players be paid a reduced wage in pre season then. Would the average man working a normal job get excused if their work performance dropped. Footballers are made for life, a little bit of criticism isn't going to do no harm. That's how the world is changing at the moment everyone is too precious and PC.
15 Jul 2017 17:07:57
I wonder if some fans really understand football.
In pre-season 1987 Liverpool lost 1-5 to Atletico Madrid and then went and played the best football of the last 30 years and won the league by April.
30 years ago some of you would have torn a strip off that team in pre-season because they all made loads of mistakes.
15 Jul 2017 17:21:37
Great argument that "30 years ago" 😂. 30 years ago you were watching games in black and white. Times move on, all he's said is Karius didn't look much better last night.
15 Jul 2017 18:49:31
I believe that being one's own harshest critic is the best road to excellence. Criticism from others is ok, but I generally only seek it from people I respect and trust. One should also remember that criticism can be positive as well as negative; somehow we only see the negative side. I didn't see the match but I expect he got a fair few things right! I hope Karius seeks it from Achterberg and Klopp and isn't daft enough to read what you muppets write. It's fine to have and express opinions, after all this is what the site is for; just don't assume they matter one iota!
What's a supporter after all? Who supports you in your lives? I hope they don't pull you down like some of you guys treat our players. YNWA.
15 Jul 2017 18:51:11
Jayden, your reply reveals a lot about you.
I'm taking George Carlin's advice ðŸ¤.
15 Jul 2017 19:26:39
Jayden constructive criticism comes from a coach, preferably in a one to one situation with the player to improve the player.
Keyboard warriors prefixing their bitching about players with the get out clause "it's constructive criticism" is b@! @ck$.
15 Jul 2017 19:30:39
"I wonder if some fans really understand football"
"Isn't daft enough to read what you muppets write"
Well some people on here surely hold themselves in high regards.
Any chance in filling us in on what makes your opinions and knowledge better than everyone else's.
15 Jul 2017 19:38:15
Idontlooklikeklopp. So does that mean you have never once criticised an LFC player over any of the years you have supported them.
{Ed025's Note - look guys they are just opinions, lets not get personal or abusive as it will just lead to deletion of the thread...lets play nice fellas..
15 Jul 2017 19:53:07
Ed 025 and the other 2 gentlemen. I apologise. I didn't mean any offence by my comments. LFC brings the passion out in me. YNWA.
{Ed025's Note - ok mate cheers..lets just move on hey and be civil to each other..
15 Jul 2017 22:43:08
Jayden, when it comes to knowledge of how to coach football I'm the biggest muppet going. Thing is, I know it. I do know how to coach my staff at work through, and believe me people respond better to praise. Sorry to have upset you. I'm teed off cos it's Saturday night and I'm still working.
Ps being a muppet isn't all bad. Animal is my role model for how to behave as a musician.
