Clyne getting a lot of unfair criticism here. He is a consistent 7 out of 10 at full back. Excatly what's needed. Very few faultless fullbacks in terms of final ball out there. City just paid 50m for walker and he and clyne are very similar, if anything clyne is a Better defender. TAA has potential but he is miles behind Clyne.

let's hope we can have a settled back line this season. So much chopping and changing last season due to Matip and Lovren picking up niggles etc. I believe Klavan did well when required especially in the big games. A back up centre half shouldn't have to play as many games as he did. Let's hope for Matip, VVD, Lovren and Klavan as options for next season. Gomez too although a season out on loan in the Prem would do him the world of good if he can get game time.

Klavan was at fault for too many goals last year through some very basic errors.

He's rubbish.

Defensively Clyne is 7/ 10 going forward he's 2/ 10. We need better but if we don't get anyone in then Clyne will either have to do better or be replaced by TAA.

You can't be a decent full back if your weak points are defending and crossing.

We need wingers who can put a ball in the box, hopefully that has been addressed, time will tell.

I have never seen Clyne have a 7/ 10 performance!

He is consistent. Consistently a 5/ 10 though. The worst player in our starting 11 by a distance in my opinion. Cannot tackle without giving away a free kick or getting booked, cannot pass further than 10yards or forwards, cannot cross the T in Nathaniel let alone a football, is lightning fast but somehow cannot run past any body, wouldn't win a header against an Oompa Loompa, his first touch is longer than my driveway etc.

I love his commitment. He plays 40-50 games a season, is incredibly strong for his height, as above is very quick, and he does work really hard. The problem is though he is an athlete, not a footballer. Unbelievable how players like that can get to the top of the game. He is the worst first choice right back in the top half of the Premier league, and the worst Liverpool have had in my lifetime. How do we seem to get worse every time we sign a player there? Finnan, to Arbeloa, to Johnson, and now Clyne? Please god let Arnold become a good player!

Don't agree with you but those are some decent digs. Not better than Degen? Really? Arnold will be given his chance but I don't think throwing him in against the best in the world is the way. Bed him in with a few lower premier League sides and the cup games and let's see him push clyne before declaring we need rid.

Interesting someone mentioned Klavan because i saw 2 goals late last season he got blamed for where Clyne switched off and was ball watching from miles away compared to where he should have been. Really do not see how anyone can give 7/ 10 defensiveky for a player who far too often switches off and seems to day dream through matches. He is Johnson mark 2 and if people are going to kick the likes of Lovren and Klavan then they need to understand that a FB who drifts in and out of the game mentally and is poor at stopping crosses is as much to blame for the defensive weaknesses. And the biggest problem is that he is a career defender not an out of position midfielder. He is hardly alone since so many so called full backs don't seem to be able to defend.

Fair enough Amerigo. I agree though that Clyne is better than Degen. I meant first choice right backs though. Degen was more of a squad player in my opinion.

Dont think taa is miles off but klopp would be wise not to rush him into the action too soon. He is already better than clyne going forward but still has some things to learn. Positionally again he is still learning the trade but the signs are that he is progressing well. I would not be surprised to see him take over towards the end of the season and embed himself in the first team for the following season.
