So before the season starts, who do you think will be the breakout star from the academy, the one who will make the most impact? (TAA and Woodburn were last years breakout stars for me and probably everyone) For me, this season I think it'll be Kent, pace confidence and creativity in abundance, i'd bet he'll start all the cup games and get a few sub appearances in the league.

Agree3 Disagree1

Apart from Kent who's done well so far in pre-season I'd rather we saw those that broke out last year get some real game time rather than trying to also bring anyone new through.

Kent going out on loan by the sounds of it.

Think one of the eds has said he may have played himself up the pecking order - maybe him and Woodburn will be the go to youngsters from the bench. We need that occasional player who can do a job, a josh onomah, lingard maybe, when we need a bit of rotation and fresh legs.

I just don't see what people seem to see in woodburn. once again was completely anonymous. he's a kid so have no problems with him not being ready but the difference between him and kent is huge. kent has more speed, skill, better touch, work rate and yet to think we might send him out on loan and keep woodburn. completely baffled.

In defense of Woodburn he is still very young and only learning, it's obvious then that in terms of development he'd be physically and mentally behind Kent. I'm disappointed we didn't see more of Wilson or Brewster in pre-season (i'm unsure if they are injured or not) I think Ejaria could be a good squad player for us this year, technically and physically he's very good, maybe needs to work on the creative side of his game, but again a good option. Hopefully we can see a few youngsters like Dhanda, Kane and Masterson get a run in the cup games, only real way to find out if they will be good enough.

Woodburn is the better footballer of the two.
Kent has pace, but Woodburn has technique and vision.

Woodburn looks like he is playing safe atm - scared of messing up his chance? Too often during the friendlies he has run the channel down the wing but then stopped and turned the ball back even when he was 1 on 1 with the fullback. I really like him particularly his vision but he needs to take risks to develop.
Kent looks like he is clearly determined to make the most of this pre-season.

Brewster is out for another 2 months with a broken foot. Besides he is still way to raw to even be challenging for first team (he is 17 this year from memory) . He is fast for his age and looks very promising but still has a lot to learn about picking the right channels to run and he needs to work on his first touch when he has a defender on his back - Origi is miles ahead of him.

I like Woodburn but definitely think he is more of a midfielder or No.10 than a winger or wide foward ala Coutinho. Doesn't have the pace or trickery to play there just yet. I see him being a lallana type player in future hopefully. I never hold my breath with the young lads coming through, so much can change so quickly. Remember when so many thought Ibe was better than Sterling? Rossiter was the next Gerrard? Brannagan was the next best thing? Dani Pachecho? Jonjo Shelvey? Etc etc etc. Ojo and Wilson would be the teams up and coming wingers Only a week or two ago Kent was the one who looked heading for the door and now it seems he's the one Klopp favours above Ojo and Wilson.

Ejaria is top class but it'll be tough for him to get first team experience with the squad we've got.

Ejaria . I think he can force his way into the squad . He has everything . Pace, skill, strength and can pick a pass . I'm hoping he will bulk up a little and once he does we will have some player .

Come on Josh let's not start slating a 17 year old kid because he doesn't take the game by the scruff of the neck. Klopp obviously sees something in him and that's good enough for me. He needs our support to allow him to develop in an environment where he feels comfortable not having a go at him. He's not the finished article he's only 17 years old.

He is a 17 year old kid who will develop just being around the first team. The more opportunities he gets to play, the quicker the development will be. Kent is in the same boat. He is by no means the finished article yet.
