Anyone else think by the sounds of Klopps comments last night and in the way he was talking about the signings we have made, that it sounds like he doesn't think we will get anymore players in? Little worrying! That would be a disaster after all the talk, especially now we are in the CL.

Only modern football fans would call signing 3 players for around £50m a disaster!

I actually think we have made good signings and would be content with going into the season with what we have. A centre back would be nice if possible but if not, Gomez is deserving of a chance.

Agree with MK. Our squad as it is now is improved from last year. Surely that's a successful window? If we can get VVD over the line and keep hold of Coutinho I'd say it's a very successful window.

Fail to see any disaster, i see a team ready to go again with a years more experience and a lot of promising young players. 2 positions improved upon with a young promising striker and would make more sense to build the team rather than change it around every season.
Should only be buying if its thought to be a clear improvement, if not players and coaching staff should be giving their all to improve regardless of any signings.

Don't think the squad is "complete" yet. There's still need for a quality CB.
I still hope one comes in.

Some of the youth players and returned loanees will be like new signings. Not to mention long term injuries coming back.

Ward, Arnold, Flanagan, Gomez, Matip, Robertson, Grujic, Woodburn, Henderson, Kent, Salah, Mane, Sturridge, Ings and Solanke will all feel like new signings as none of them were available for a lot of last season. Just because only 3 of them cost money this summer, does not mean they won't improve the squad. People seem to forget we were missing Mane, Matip and Henderson for significant periods of time. And Gomez, Grujic and Ings were in the u23's recovering all season.

Everything will be okay.

While we have made modest improvements to the squad, compared to other teams around us such as Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal we are again struggling to catch up. So once again we are reliant on Klopp being able to get more out of the group that he has or some of the younger players turn a corner and take massive strides this season. We have purchased Salah and Robertson (for a modest fee) and Solanke. We could well lose Coutinho, im really hoping not. I think we still need at least 2, maybe 3 quality signings to compete with teams around us this season.

We've purchased 1 first team player when we were already about 4 first team players down on the other 'top' teams around us.

It's been a pretty shambolic summer so far, however you want to spin it. Embarassing public apologies, weeks and weeks chasing after a player we knew a team didn't want to sell and now, we're all hoping we pull a few miracles out of the bag in the next 3 weeks.

The only shining light is the fact we're now seeing Coutihno as part of the middle 3 which thankfully gives us a lot more options. But this summer, like previous ones has been a wreck - 1 first team player, a kid and a left-back we're all hoping is better than Moreno.

If you're happy to fight for 4th, great. If you want to win the title, you'll be diappointed with our summer activity.

@The Irish Rover - how are we "catching up" when the season hasn't even begun yet? Last time I checked we're all on the same points: 0. The hysteria surrounding our lack of 100mil signings is just laughable - it is a team game and we are assembling a team, spunking a load of money on another player or 2 will not magically turn us (or anyone) into a nailed on league champion. We should buy if the players are available and hold off if they are not - we have panic bought far too much in the past, we do not need to do so again.

Seano,

A real simple question then:

Would buying VVD and Naby Keita give us more chance of winning the league?

If you say yes, you're post is a load of nonsense. If you say no, then I would say you're talking out your backside.

04 Aug 2017 12:31:40
I'd rather keep coutinho than worry about new signings, I agree with mk, loan and youth players that weren't available last season aswell as the three brought in will be good enough if nobody else comes in.

04 Aug 2017 12:45:36
Seano. Name the last time (Leicester apart) that a team outside Chelsea, City or United won the league?

04 Aug 2017 17:32:48
Arsenal 03/ 04.

05 Aug 2017 08:36:02
Did they win because they spent a load of money? Or because they assembled a TEAM? Certain players we wanted are now unavailable in part down to our own foolish behaviour - that is the reality but it is far from the disaster or season ending woe you's are all making it out to be.

The squad, by sheer virtue of the youngsters looking to have improved, looks a lot stronger than it did last season. We now have a proper left back (as well as an improving Moreno), an exciting young right back, a threat on both wings, an abundance of forward options, a very strong midfield as well as a few youngsters looking to make a name for themselves. I think the squad is in pretty good shape personally - a CB would perhaps improve it but at the same time I don't think we are doomed to failure without one. As I said the hysteria over us not signing Van Dyke and Keita is over the top.

Oh, and as an addendum, the transfer window is still open - we may well buy another expensive player for you to cream your pants over yet.

A team Seano Arsenal had a team of very talented players that complimented each other very well and everything just clicked for them that year.
