That Graeme Kelly guy has always maintained nothing below at least 130m up front will tempt Liverpool to sell Coutinho.

Considering that Barca's best bid thus far merely involves 80m over about 5 years, and 30m of add-ons hinged upon somewhat unrealistic conditions, you'd think there is no way that they are willing to pay 130m up front?

Barca won't pay 130 million pounds excluding add ons for Coutinho. He will stay at LFC for one more season now. Barcelona want Dembele as well and have wasted 40 million euros on Paulinho. Plus they are trying to wrap up Inigo Martinez deal as well. Did u really expect them to make a 130 million pounds offer for Coutinho considering they want to sign 3 other expensive players as well?

Depends Indian, if they actually want him they will put down 130m instead of this standard dirty Barcelona tricks they do.

£130 million up front?
That would recoup nicely the £70million for Keita and £60 million for VVD that we'll be splashing out shortly. 😀🙏🏻.

Ruthless, this is Barcelona we are talking about. They will keep lowballing. They have this chip on their shoulder that they can f**k with any club they please by stealing their players on the cheap. Look at the situation they have put BVB in with Dembele. Barcelona are behind this ruckus 100%.
Barca won't put up 130 million up front so in short, Coutinho stays for another season. Barcelona can do one for all I care, hope they finish outside the UCL spots next season (won't be surprised with Neymar gone and all their good players ageing faster than Klopp and Conte) . I have had it with their antics. They play with other players' emotions season after season, and its the selling clubs that pay the price for this nonsense.

A reported £118 million is lowballing?

Buzzer is on the money. Many don' know how Barcelona operate so they keep thinking they will pay up. They won't. This is how they and RM act. They put pressure on a player via the media in a bid to have the player force the move himself. Then, they swoop in with pathetically, low-ball offers so as to force the player, to force the club to take the deal under the pathetic guise of, "you can't keep a player who wants to leave as he will down tools, not be committed" crap. Nonsensical talking point really, as far as American owners of sports teams are concerned.

Let me tell you how they operate as I'm an American. NO American owner will be dictated to by his employee esp. a player. NONE. They write the checks and they will make sure said player stays at least for that season until they say he leaves. Not before. Ask Suarez who took LFC to a tribunal in 2013 to force a move to the Gunners (of all people) and how did that end?

Now FSG has said he is not for sale and it is out of Klopp's hands now. Barcelona might as well kick rocks esp. with that pathetic offer with nonsensical add-ons in a bid to shaft us.

Flash - "The breakdown of Barcelona’s bid would have seen Liverpool receive a guaranteed payment of £82.1 million with a further £36.5 million linked to the progress of Coutinho and his new club.

Of those add-ons, Barcelona wanted to pay a specific sum if Coutinho followed the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in lifting the Ballon d’Or, the award for the best player in the world. They also proposed payments linked to the club winning the Champions League in future. "

So yes, they are majorly lowballing.

FlashRed, 118 million is lowballing when you just got 198 million pounds up front for Neymar and the 118 million comprises of 36 million worth of add ons that will never happen. In short Barcelona want Coutinho for 82 million pounds that too paid over 5 years. I'd sent the same disgraceful fax back to Barca's head office but spattered with dog poo. If you bow down to the spoilt elite, you will forever be on your knees and at their mercy.
If you cannot sense Barca's desperation, then you are clueless. They know their golden era is come to an end, their la masia academy is failing to churn out quality players due to years of neglect and Real keep pounding on the misery for them by signing the best young Spanish talent for peanuts.
If I was John Henry, I'd call them up right now and tell them to deposit 150 million pounds at LFC's doorstep the way PSG did or just disappear into mediocrity. Every LFC fan should feel disrespected for the way Barcelona are going about the Coutinho saga.
And yes, I hope BVB make Barcelona squirm over Dembele as well. They thoroughly deserve it.

IB, you are in midseason form, my friend. Great post! I would send them their fax back with "DON't COME BACK" written in dog poop on it as these guys must think we are as stupid as they think we are.

Flash, you are falling for the "follow the money" gambit that Barcelona is trying to pull. Allow me to explain. Their offer effectively says that they want to pay 82m cash for Cou (the 5 year payment structure for this, is a joke in itself) and that is it. Barcelona will not be winning the CL anytime soon/ ever, Cou will not score 30 goals (has never cracked even 15 at LFC in a season) and him winning the Balon D'Or, as it stands right now, will never happen as those better than Cou are still yet to win it.

So in the end, we will not be seeing the add-ons anytime soon. If that is what you like then thank heavens, you don't run LFC cos if you did, we would be in the Conference right now.
