Surely showing ambition would mean selling Coutinho and buying someone like Isco or Dele Alli? Obviously this would never happen (although it would be nice lol) but showing ambition to me does not mean keeping a player who apparently doesn't want to play for Liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree8

Selling a star player with no definite replacement lined up is not showing ambition, it's showing rank stupidity.

19 Aug 2017 11:04:58
If we sell Coutinho for £120m, what do you think the notoriously tough negotiator Levy will want from us for Dele Alli with two weeks left in the window? £180m?

That's the problem. If we sell Coutinho now, we'll be fleeced for any replacement player we look for.

19 Aug 2017 11:03:34
Showing ambition would be keeping Coutinho and signing Dele Alli.
Ambition is holding on to your best player at all costs and making him see sense as the season goes on after he realises the wreckage that Barcelona are slowly going to become.
Ambition is signing the best young English player around for an astronomical figure coz he will be in it for the long haul and will improve our squad and make it one of the best in the league.

19 Aug 2017 11:19:30
There's no way we should keep a player who doesn't want to be here.
Take the money. We will buy somebody before the window shuts. Someone who wants to be at Anfield.
The lads head has been turned now, let him go.

19 Aug 2017 11:33:06
Can't believe the only talk is about Coutinho leaving and the only news about incomings is news from June and continuesly the same talk . We made no effort in January and come the summer it's just as bad if not worse/ embarrassing. If Klopp is happy with this squad especially with possible champions league himself and the club need to give their heads a big wobble. The bench is so weak so an injury to any of the 1st team we will b screwed. Another rant over😩😩.

19 Aug 2017 11:33:48
So we should let him go even though the offer is not good enough in the current market just because we shouldn't keep players that don't want to be here as a matter of principle?

If Barcelona only offered £20m, should we let him go for that because he "doesn't want to be here. "

Give me strength.

19 Aug 2017 11:47:50
Wait till window closes before you rant a lot will happen in 12 days .

19 Aug 2017 11:53:09
Have any of you actually read how the bid was reportedly structured? Doubt you'd be saying all this let him go crap (if true) . we'd be basically selling him for 20m.

19 Aug 2017 12:02:27
That's exactly it isn't it? If they really want him then pay up. If not then stop wasting our time. I'd be communicating all of these derisory offers to Coutinho to show just how much they do want him! Not much if the latest offer is anything to go by.

19 Aug 2017 12:03:02
I have not mentioned money have I.
And neither have the Owners, so why go on the attack about money.
The player as put in a request to leave. It's my opinion that we should sell him and let him go, if the club decide the offer is not enough then they tell the player that's why they are not selling him.
I will pray for you to become strong brother and not to be so Angry, and not to put misleading suggestions into fellow supporters post.

19 Aug 2017 12:12:24
You made no mention of the offer needing to be good enough in your first post, you just said he should be let go. That's why I pointed out that the offer needs to be good enough, which it clearly isn't.

I'm glad you've now realised that the offer needs to be good enough for the club to let the player go.

And you shouldn't pray, the only God that's real is Robbie Fowler.

19 Aug 2017 12:18:11
The club haven't said they are not selling because the offer isn't what they deem enough.
Don't put words into my post.
I would take the money I didn't say how much.
My point is i think the lad should be sold if he wants to go.
Let the owners decide a price.
Don't attack me over the fact imo I wouldn't force someone to stay.

19 Aug 2017 12:30:21
Fin, but you clearly say 'take the money'. people are just rightly explaining that the money offered isn't enough, so the policy you have of take the money even though it's not deemed enough by the owners is silly, if we sell him it's at a figure we are happy with, regardless of how coutinho feels. You can't just be like, oh player wants to leave, bye bye and we will take whatever money is offered to us. Such a small club mentality.

19 Aug 2017 12:30:35
Of course they haven't said the only reason they're not selling is because of money, that would weaken their negotiating position.

19 Aug 2017 12:44:24
well if you're fine with just letting him go because he handed in a transfer request why not just rip up the contract?

because the offer matters.

19 Aug 2017 13:02:39
We probably will let him go if the offer is good enough, and so far none have been good enough.
So there is no point moaning about us keeping him against his will because that isn’t the case.

Just because us fans are saying keep him doesn't mean squat. Its up to the owners and Klopp at the end of the day and if they feel an offer is good enough he will leave, if not he will stay and it isn’t because we "forced him to stay against his will"

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing whatsoever to do with the owners. The club takes the decision.}
