It's funny how LFC fans would not be happy with Mahrez and Costa (premier league proven and premier league winners) because of their attitudes but are desperate for VVD and for Coutinho to stay. Personally I believe if we want to start challenging for the league and CL like the big club we claim to be then I would love all 4 of them in our squad.

How can you compare Costa's attitude to Coutinho's? Not even close.

20 Aug 2017 14:15:18
I would love to have Costa at the club it's just highly unlikely. As for Mahrez I don't really care.

20 Aug 2017 14:20:32
So you want to sign Costa who will go on strike as he has said he will not play for anyone other than AM?
We don't need Mahrez as he is a winger, Coutinho can go for me as I only want players who want to play for the club. A bit like VVD does, although I am not condoning his actions in the slightest.

20 Aug 2017 14:34:15
It's not just Mahrez's attitude but the fact he's had one decent season and people think he's a world beater. He's just not that good.

Costa is getting unfair stick in my opinion. He is a bit of a tool on the pitch anyway, but i sympathise with his current situation.

At the end of the day i think we are all guilty of forgetting footballers are human, and playing is their job not their hobby. Some footballers hate it but just do it for money; Andy Carroll is a prime example.

If my boss text me and said he didn't want me working their anymore I'd have him in court. That is unprofessional on a ridiculous scale and in any other job if you then get forced out the door it would constitute as constructive dismissal. Footballers are slaves to their contracts (whatever way you look at it, refusing to let someone in the modern society work and live where they want is slavery - even if it is well paid) and we completely disregard their lives when talking about these things. People cruelly say things like "how can they be sad earning that much money" but happiness and money are not directly linked at all. There have been hundreds of incredibly rich people who have lost their lives to mental illness because they are too embarrassed to seek help, knowing full well the ridicule they will get; "but you're rich". If i was Costa there is no way I'd want to be in the same room as Conte so i completely understand his self prescribed exile. In fact i support his right to go wherever the hell he wants to go.

Just for one second, imagine you are unhappy with your life and you can't do anything about it because of a decision you made 6 months ago under different circumstances. Personally i disagree entirely with contracts in the game but i won't go into anymore details why as it is far too political for these pages.

{Ed002's Note - I think you may want to read up on the rest of the story. Costa told Conte he wanted out the second week after Conte arrived last summer. He spent January meeting with potential suiters from China and businessmen looking to make the deal happen. He has constantly stayed in contact with Atletico Madrid. He has turned down the opportunities of loans and a move to Italy. This is of his own making.

I dislike Costa as a person and he is hated by most other teams fans. But so was Luis but those fans would have taken him in a heart beat. This isn't a popularity contest and Costa would have bagged a couple yesterday and they were just from Robertsons crosses. Costa has been courting a move out of Chelsea since January and is now happily on strike not collecting a wage. Coutinho has been courting Barcelona since January and appears to be on strike but whilst still collecting his wage, with no regard to whether we qualify for the CL. Yeah they really don't compare. You don't have to like the players, we're not their friends, but I would still support them every time they represent the club.

Wouldn't want Costa or Mahrez at LFC. We need to improve the squad not go backwards.

20 Aug 2017 14:54:28
Me Dennis would you be happy with Kieta for 80 mill after 1 good season? And 1 season of a premier league medal, PFA players player of the year and PFA fans player of the year is a little bit better than decent.

20 Aug 2017 15:21:08
Wouldn't improve our squad. How many in our squad have won the premier league (both were major parts of) or PFA players player and fans player of the year.

20 Aug 2017 16:12:45
Mahrez is inconsistent Costa's a maniac poisonous psycho. Both no good for LFC. We need to keep our Best player and buy quality at the back if we want to win anything. If Keita is a not going to happen then we should snap up Seri asap.

20 Aug 2017 16:12:53
Jayden, Djimi Traore won a champions league medal in 2005, should we have kept him then for that reason?
Also Luke Chadwick won a premier league medal.

20 Aug 2017 18:32:41
Poor argument that mushroom.

20 Aug 2017 21:53:19
Only working on your logic Jayden.

21 Aug 2017 08:23:49
You've came back with no logic. So you're telling me you rate Traore's importance and performance to the team on the same level as Gerard's when we won the CL. You've brought Traores name into it as an argument against Costa and Mahrez. No matter what you think of them as individuals if you believe they are on the same playing level then you're as stupid as your logical argument.

22 Aug 2017 09:42:23
No matter how you put it Jayden, we don't need Mahrez or would you drop Mane? Besides Mahrez had 1 good season for Leicester.
Costa will not play for anyone other than AM. He sulked and became extremely disruptive at Chelsea, to the point that Conte doesn't want the premier league winner and PFA winner and anything else he has won anymore.
Neither would be improvements on our squad. And Costa wouldn't fit into the way we play.
Is that a better logical argument for you?

22 Aug 2017 14:16:10
So your logic is saying 2 players wouldn't improve the squad, get into the team or suite our style of play before they had even signed, that's like mystic meg logic. A player that scores 20 league goals a season and another who has won 2 PFA player of the year awards but has only had 1 good season although he has 27 goals and 19 assists in 3 seasons with last season getting 4 goals and 2 assists in 9 CL games. But like you have rightly pointed out Costa is not as good as Ings, Origi, Sturridge or Solanke. And Mahrez is not as good or proven as any of our midfielders in the premier league.

22 Aug 2017 19:31:51
It's about time you realised I was right Jayden 😜.

22 Aug 2017 21:31:54
😂 we will have to agree to disagree on this one 🤔.
