Hi ed1,

Not sure if you've answered this but would you rather us keep coutinho or sell him on like he wants? Surely his attitude/ feelings for the club will effect the rest of the camp this season if he stays?

{Ed001's Note - I would prefer to sell him. If he wants to go and play for a gimmick, rather than take his opportunity to become a legend, bye bye and don't let the door hit you on the way out.}

Agree5 Disagree0

26 Aug 2017 04:27:42
I second that, Ed01.

26 Aug 2017 04:31:13
Honest question Ed, would you still sell him if we were unable to bring in a replacement this window?

{Ed001's Note - yes. I don't want players who prefer to go to inferior clubs when they have already reached the pinnacle.}

26 Aug 2017 04:41:20
Well said Ed.

26 Aug 2017 06:48:04
My thoughts exactly ed1.

26 Aug 2017 07:19:39
Exactly, all this nonsense about letting him rot on the bench etc us childish. We have sold better players than pipco and better players than him will come again. So let the little fella free so he can soare to mid table with Barcelona while we go on and win the champions league. Any of this sound familiar? Mssrs owen regretted doing the very same thing.

26 Aug 2017 07:22:44
Ed01 you are joking when you say inferior aren't you? Barcelona might well be an ageing squad but they're a far bigger club than we are. Until we start competing in the transfer market with the big clubs we'll continue hovering between 4th and 7th, we're not club we once were and it's getting embarrassing how we conduct ourselves and how most fans think every year is going to be our year. I've seen first hand the success we've had and how far we've fallen. Players want to play at the highest level and if he wants to go let him hopefully he goes onto win the he probably won't ever do with us. Until we start winning things we'll always loose our top players, that's football.

{Ed001's Note - bigger? Barcelona are not a club they are a gimmick, blatantly pushing a Catalan agenda to get fans. They are inferior to any other football club because they are based on a lie. They would be absolutely finished if Catalonia was independent but they pretend to support the independence as it helps their fanbase. As for the rest it is nothing to do with this and we are playing at the highest level, so you are simply wrong.}

I think the problem for us will be that he'll no longer be committed to the cause (think about what Klopp has said about wanting players to push the train rather than jump on when its already at full speed) and will arguably hate the club now for denying him his 'dream' move. I can understand people wanting to believe he'll give us another year and put everything into it but I can't see that happening, he's burnt his bridges and he'll just have his eye on the exit next summer anyway. I'd get rid now, and hope to bring someone in that actually wants to be here. Phillippe can live in Messi's shadow if he wishes, if the price is right.

26 Aug 2017 07:44:24
Are you readng this pipco well said ed.

26 Aug 2017 07:48:45
Bang on Ed couldn't agree more . Like Ed02 has said in the past, players and the manager are transient employees and support.

26 Aug 2017 07:49:54
I agree with you Ed001 on 99% of the things you say on this site. And I'm not creeping btw.

But I feel if we sell him in this window, it's puts the club in a weak position especially after coming out and publicly saying he won't be sold at any price. Other players will look at this and think, if I want to leave and the club say I'm not for sale, push hard enough and I'll get my way. For me, the club should have said nothing and not released a statement.

Players have to start respecting their clubs and the clubs need to start standing firm. I would like VVD to arrive but if Southampton stand firm then I have total respect for them I don't so.

{Ed001's Note - I really do not care what players think, they are irrelevances. The club is the only thing I care about.}

26 Aug 2017 08:46:18
I wouldn't sell him cos for a couple of reasons and they are all football-related. If you sell him now, we will be weakened on the pitch esp. if we don't get his replacement in. That is fact one. Secondly, if you sell him now, we will be sending the wrong message to the dressing room that "hey, if you wanna force a move, just do what Cou did and you'll get your wish". Sometimes, it's the principle that counts and you have to stand up and say, "No" esp. if said player signed a new deal 6 months ago, took all the wages and bonus that may have come with that along with the agent fee, and now say "I want out" so you can get another bonus and your agent gets another agent fee hence, screwing us on both ends. NO FREAKING WAY!

If you wanted to leave, you shouldn't have signed the new deal like Lukaku did not sign one with Everton and was allowed to leave. I love what FSG is doing and if he stays, he will have to get his head down, put his big boy pants on and get to work.

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing about messages to the dressing room. This is a business as usual transfer that may or may not go ahead. There is nothing special about it at all because Liverpool are involved. And it is nothing whatsoever to do with any signing of any damn contract. It is cringeworthy reading all of these nonsense posts.}

Ed01 they are one of the biggest draws in football irrespective of their politics. We are not playing at the highest level as if we were we would of won the premier league and competing for it every year instead of fighting for a top four finish. There's atleast four other clubs ahead of us in the premier league at the moment as much as it hurts to say but I'm a realist.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think you understand so I won't waste my time, only anyone can see the highest level is being in the Champions League. You may have missed it, but Barca struggled last season, and it is only that Atletico were also struggling that they were in the top 2 in a 2 team league. However you carry on pretending you are being realistic, while conveniently forgetting that the TV market for Liverpool - Man Utd games dwarves El Clasico for a reason.}

26 Aug 2017 11:06:21
Lfc till I die. Barcelona are as bad as they come. The way they sign players is a disgrace to football and it's not a new thing.
Suarez, masch, fabregas, Sanchez, dembele. coutinho.

They unsettle and tell players to act out to get a move. they do it blatantly and without pretence. we at least tried to pretend we didt.

They were did get in signing neymar and have already had a transfer ban.

I'd like us to now sell coutinho. but to anyone but them. even if we took 20 million less. get on the phone to real.

Ranting now, so I apologise. but Barcelona can suck my balls. hope they crash and burn this season with their over the hill team.

26 Aug 2017 12:21:29
Ok then ed01 who would you say are the ten top clubs in European football the will draw the best players? For me and in no particular order it would be.

Barcelona
Real Madrid
Bayern Munich
Man U
Chelsea
Man City
Juventus
Psg
Atletico Madrid
And I'm struggling for a tenth but if I'm honest I don't think we have the pulling power we once had. You're right playing in the champions league is competing with the best but we don't play in it every season and that's my point.

{Ed001's Note - I really don't care, you still don't get it, you are talking about a totally different thing from me and just talking like it is FIFA or FM. No one gives a toss who is the biggest in reality. PSG are a minor club but they managed to take one of Barca's favoured players. Life isn't as simple as you are trying to make it and Liverpool are still a major draw, just ask VVD, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain etc.}

26 Aug 2017 12:46:23
Would have a clue about football games I don't play them, you're the one who doesn't get it. I agree psg are I minor club and can't see why players go there other than for money but what I'm saying is they are a more attractive club than us hence why they sign better players fact.

{Ed001's Note - whatever. This is pointless. You are just a typical pessimist who fails to see anything positive. PSG have had a whole slew of players turn them down but you are so busy whining about Liverpool not being a big draw that you have missed that. LFC have not had a problem getting players to want to join, it is the finances that are the issue. You clearly know nothing of the real world or how big the club is, just ask Salah how Egypt sees Liverpool. Or come to the UAE, particularly Dubai, and you will see how they have a massive support. Iran, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia etc.}

26 Aug 2017 13:08:46
So someone has a different opinion to you and you resort to belittling them just to make your point better. I'll leave it here you're quite right this is pointless the fact you can't grasp that barcelona are a bigger club than we are. You don't know me yet you make assumptions to try and prove your point, you'll always come out on top as you're the owner of this site and people darent disagree with you. I've never been a pessimist, a realist yes. I love our club and I'm genuinely sad to see how far we've fallen away. Enjoy the rest of your day.

{Ed001's Note - what are you on about? Not once did anyone but you go on about Liverpool being a bigger club. That is the whole point, you were just being an arse and jumping on something that wasn't there. Inferior I said. Wasting my time with you because you clearly did not understand a bloody word. I hate people like you who want to jump on and cause an argument over something that wasn't even there then whine like little bitches when they are given stick about it. If you are unable to grasp basic English then this is a waste of time. This is why I barely bother with this site any more, too many people stirring up arguments because they have no comprehension of what is said and misread everything to start a fight. It is not difficult for anyone with a reading comprehension above age of 3 to see that inferior does not refer to size or I would have called them a smaller club, not an inferior one.}
