The international curse strike's again. Mane out for up to six weeks. Club Manager's must absolutely despise international break's.

When it rains, it pours.

{Ed025's Note - thats a massive loss bingo, if his replacement is alex hopeless chamberlain then you are in trouble mate..

10 Oct 2017 16:52:52
In trouble is an understatement. werr f@%ked!

{Ed025's Note - not yet Jcw, football is a funny old game mate and now is the time for someone to step up to the plate..

10 Oct 2017 17:00:08
I doubt it will be AOC to replace him really. I just think that Coutinho will play on the left like last season, Salah on the right and Firmino down the centre with Henderson, Wijnaldum and Can in midfield.

Doesn’t say much for AOC that even with Mané and Lallana out, I don’t see him getting in the side.

{Ed025's Note - for me he has to play reid, otherwise why pay £40m for him?..

Hate Internationals. Would have been nice to have two fully fit squads battling against each other. No idea when Pogba is back, but we look far less strong in midfield without him. Then Fellaini's aerial presence will be missed along with Pogba. Can you imagine Young swinging balls into Lukaku, Pogba, Fellaini, Matic, Jones, Bailly, Smalling and Rashford. I think Fellaini and Pogba is a huge miss. Mane will be a huge miss too.

10 Oct 2017 17:40:08
I can't imagine young doing anything of the sort as surely surely surely he will not be allowed to cut to his right foot as in previous games.

10 Oct 2017 17:21:06
Spot on, Ed25. I don't think Klopp will start AOC in place of Mane (who is a GUGE loss) . Like Reid said, he will go with Salah, and Cou on the flanks, Firmino iat CF with Hendo and Can and Wiji in a midfield 3. Wiji has not been good this season so if he does play, I hope he puts in a good perf. cos we really need it. As for Utd, not having Pogba and Fellaini in midfield is a blow to them which means our midfield (if they can get their crap together) can go toe to toe with theirs.

We have dealt with Lukaku well of late as he is yet to score a goal against us in his last 3 games and if we can limit the service into him, then we can stifle him. These games are too close to call BUT with us at home and Klopp's impeccable record vs the big teams since 2015, we should get a reult from the game hopefully, a win.

{Ed025's Note - a draw looks good to me now bingo..

10 Oct 2017 17:32:28
I'm sure he will play Ed025, but he has so far demonstrated that he has not settled in enough to justify starts.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

He is one player, a very good player, granted but if we can't cope with an injury to a player then we are in big diffs. It should not be used as an excuse for not getting results.

Irish, if Chelsea lost Hazard or if City lost Silva or KDB, they would struggle as well at ;east at first. I seem to remember City struggle a lot when Yaya (in his prime) was off to the AFCON. It is not as easy as you make it sound. It is not that you lost a player. It is the stature and importance of the player you lost. Hopefully, we can cope with out him throughout his absence.

{Ed002's Note - Hazard missed the first month of the season. Difference is the fans of other clubs don’t whine as much.}

10 Oct 2017 20:36:26
Irish Rover, did you not see our results when Mane was not available? We were terrible. Oxlade Chamberlain clearly isn’t as good as Mane and we will struggle again. Any chances in the league are now absolutely gone. Out of contention in October is a new record.

He hasn't exactly lit up the stadium when he's played has he? AOC I mean.
He has lost a lot of weight and I think klopp is still working on him, turning him into the player he wants him to be. I honestly think he will come good. A hell of a lot of money for a bench warmer. I think he is still a little overwhelmed with signing for his boyhood team, there is a lot of expectation on him and remember, he is only twenty three. Still a kid really, hard to believe, seems like he has been round for years. He will be one of the 700 games club I think. One day.

Managers must have sleepless nights scared the phone is going to ring with bad news. Hope Bobby and Couts get back uninjured as well. Still fringe players need to step up and grap opportunities like this. AOX, Milner, Studge, plus Lallana soon. Solanke, Woodburn and Ings for 10 min cameos. Even as a write this to cheer myself up, the squad is threadbare.

10 Oct 2017 20:58:40
23 or not, like Walcott, Owen, Ramsey, Wilshere and Rooney he is injury prone and played from a very young age. He may be 23 years old, but he could have the body of a 30 year old. Generally players that start at the highest level at 16, last til their mid-20's to late 30's at the highest level and start to deteriorate. And I would say AOC has less quality than all of the above had at their best.

He could turn out to be a decent signing when looking back in years to come, but I wouldn't say he is a young player still at 23. He's been on the scene for like 7/ 8 years now and injured for most part.

10 Oct 2017 21:13:28
24 even.

10 Oct 2017 21:59:01
Good point Sydney. I don't think we would have paid for someone who was falling to pieces. Lampard Gerrard carragher fowler all players who started young and has long glittering careers, Gareth Barry, Beckham, gigs, mcmanaman, the list goes on.

10 Oct 2017 23:23:35
Did any of them play regularly at the highest level at 16? Fowler played at highest level 18-26. Mcmanaman 18-29/ 30. Beckham started at 19. Started going downhill way before he retired, during Madrid days.

I don't know. Footballers don't generally have long at the highest level with exceptions of course and AOC started young. I think Liverpool paid so much for AOC because he is homegrown and versatile.

I'm not saying he's a crock, just that his age may he irrelevant when you compare to a player who plays at the highest level at 19/ 20. I think AOC may dip before most his age. Like your Owens and Wilshere. And other injury prone lads playing from 16.

10 Oct 2017 23:57:58
Coutinho has started for Brazil so he will have a fitness test on Friday, therefore AOC may well get his opportunity. Firmino on the bench. Antonio Valencia didn't travel apparently which is great news for MU. He has become a very important player for us. Romero in goal for Argentina, although he is our 2nd keeper so not too important. I expect there will be fingers crossed that Coutinho makes it through the game unscathed and doesn't play the full game.
