Hi Eds

apologies if this has already been covered, though my suspected answer to this is too frustrating to believe, does the club have any intention whatsoever to sign a DM before the end of the window?

Cheers

{Ed001's Note - not by what you mean, no.}

11 Aug 2015 19:55:57
Ed with it looking more likely that Lucas will leave don't you think we need a DM. Can has been touted as a replacement but has no experience there and neither Hendo or Milner are suited.
If not Lucas and you don't see us getting a DM who will play in that role?
Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I think we should, but Rodgers doesn't want one at all, he doesn't feel they are part of his tactical plan.}

Does anyone know about the news coming out Lucas Leiva has been involved in a training ground falling out with management at the club?

Any truth on Liverpool apparently signing and loaning out Taiwo Awoniyi?

Eds, any truth in the rumour that Lucas has had a falling out with the club today and now wants out?

Believable24 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - he was dropped and is extremely unhappy about it as he had been blocked from moving in January with promises made by the manager, who has now gone back on them, again. This is not the first time for him to suffer like this at the hands of Rodgers, who just refuses to accept we need a defensive midfielder, so I can't see him staying much longer, sadly. He has been treated extremely badly by the club.}

10 Aug 2015 07:39:58
I really can't understand why the club treat him so badly. He's been a very good player for us and a total professional. He deserves a lot better than Rodgers is giving him.

Borderline criminal. If Rodgers doesn't see a place in his team for players like Agger and Lucas he needs to tell them so rather than being a knob about it. They deserve that much.

10 Aug 2015 10:31:13
It's absolutely disgusting the way Lucas has been treated by BR.I love the attitude of him with all the abuse he got he still wanted to play and never spoke bad about the club but on top of all that he's a class DM and exactly what we need.So I really really don't understand how he's not in the 1st team.Maybe you can Eds.

Agree2 Disagree1

10 Aug 2015 12:23:36
Absolute disgrace. Instead we have Henderson stifled in that role when we all know he needs to be further forward and getting beyond the front players with those runs into the box. That's the Tactical Genius for you

Thanks for the reply Ed. He's one of my favourite players atm, always gives 100%, even if he hasn't been quite as good as he used to be due to previous injuries, he could still do a job! I'm convinced if he had been on the pitch yesterday, Glen wouldn't have had that chance that a confident Glen would have put away! Brendan needs to stop alienating his players, if he doesn't rate them, tell them and let them find a new club, not make them hang on feeling more frustrated, which must affect the rest of the squad!

10 Aug 2015 15:02:33
Don't' get me wrong, I love Lucas and he is a model professional and doesn't deserve to be treated bad by anyone at Liverpool. However, I disagree with the suggestion that he should be starting. Emre Can has repeatedly shown his class and changed the game yesterday. My only quarrel with Rodger's selection is that Can should be starting, but that still means that there is no room for Lucas. Emre Can offers more than Lucas, and I don't understand the opinion than Can is not defensive enough after playing extremely well at CB last season.

It will be sad to see Lucas go, but if he wants first team football then Liverpool should let him go, and I'd understand. But you cannot fault Rodgers for not playing him. Breaking promises on the other hand is a different matter.

RyanAJ13, the Eds have told us already, Lucas was promised game time back in January, which made him put off leaving the club then, so if he's not going to be treated well now, why wasn't he allowed to go back then? Poor man management in my view and having a player in the squad on good wages and not played, isn't great news for the club financially either!

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Aug 2015 17:19:59
I don't see anything wrong with a manager saying he thinks a player will get time, but as it comes to game time, seeing how he practices, deciding that there's a better option. You guys seem to let your emotions get in the way of business. yet, when the manager makes the "wrong" choice and it doesn't work, you're all over him. You can't really win, can you?

And Agger? Great player for the Club, but he wanted to leave! and he wasn't any better than the CB's we currently have starting. He also said his body was unable for the rigors of the Premier League, yet I am continually reading on these pages about Agger Agger Agger.

Agree2 Disagree1

10 Aug 2015 18:18:26
@Vic - Agger was forced to move on after Rodgers made it blindingly obvious he wouldn'tbe playing him (despite the fact he was far and above our best defender at the club - in spite of his injury woes!).

Lucas, I believe, is quality and really makes us solid in the middle when he plays - I'm a huge fan - but I have no problem with the manager opting to play somebody else. I don't agree but hey football is all about opinions - but mucking about a loyal servant, a model professional and a player who has only ever done right by the club is completely out of order. If he is surplus to requirements, and wants game time, then let the lad move. I'd be really disappointed if he left but he deserves the respect of all associated with the club - the way he is being treated really is not on and he is not the only player unhappy with his treatment.

Rodgers is doing a good job of alienating much of the playing staff. This will end in tears - a squad with many unsettled, unhappy players will, sooner or later, see these factors affect on field performances.

If Agger was so good,why wasn't there a queue of teams linning up to sign him?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - there were but he only wanted one team.}

10 Aug 2015 19:27:23
problem is he's made too many promises. Promised Emre can he will be played centrally. Promised milner the central position too. Henderson is going to play centrally too. Will probably pick joe allen before lucas if fit. There's too many midfielders.

aggers injuries had caught up with him,only played 18 times for brondby last season also named in worst eleven one week,rodgers was RIGHT to move him on.every player has to fight for his places there are no promises to go back on,can will be 1st choice and lucas cover at lucas age he wants to play and will make a personal decision no fall out.ignore ed 1s blatent hate of rodgers

Ravi and Vic, you are missing the point. Lucas is a true DM and a man who has carried himself with honor and dignity despite the rank disregard and indignation he has suffered from BR and some fans. He truly wants to play here and loves the club BUT the way BR is treating him and Sahko is just criminal and disgusting. BR promised him game time in Jan because he needed him then and it showed because when he and Sahko played, we barely lost nor conceded and we went on that great run. Now, he has no use for him and thinks it's ok to trash him again. If BR doesn't want a player to play, he should grow a backbone, grow a pair and do honorable thing and be honest with that player like a man should instead of resorting to cowardly tactics in a bid to force him out like he did with Agger.he hasn't changed as an individual and trust me, he will regret treating players the way he has/is because what goes around, comes around

10 Aug 2015 21:24:33
Ed do you see us replacing Lucas if he leaves? Or will we give more time to Rossiter?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is Milner who is taking the time on the pitch, not Rossiter.}

11 Aug 2015 09:19:24
Lucas isn't good enough for a top 4 team and never stays fit. Period.

11 Aug 2015 13:03:16
Fair enough BR has changed his mind about starting Lucas, its his job to decide whcih team will perform best. However he should not be making promises that are simply not guaranteed! I think Lucas is a great player and is acting in a way that any player would (im surprised he has had so much patience til now).

The DAgger was one of my fav players ever! I could not believe how he was treated (by the club or BR, i'm not sure)! And don't forget rumours saying sterlings problem was not LFC but BR same goes for Stevie G.

And another one of my fav players the great Pepe Reina, all those years of quality service and was ousted out disgracefully! Whether it is BR or the club, I don't know, but if things don't change, dark times are ahead of us.

He has been treated terribly. BUT i hope he goes and receives proper treatment. Great player and seems a really quality bloke

11 Aug 2015 18:06:00
I'm appalled at the fact that BR doesn't seem to think we need a player like Lucas. Lucas is a player who gives shape to our whole team and his positioning and metronomic passing will be sorely missed. The manager moans that we don't have characters in the side but then continuously forces them out (agger, Pepe. ) and he seems to overlook all the crap players that have been bought in his tenure. I can see it costing him sooner rather than later.
Eds, if Rodgers has been making promises to players and then routinely breaking them (sterling, Carroll, Lucas, agger. ) how does that affect how he's perceived by the rest of the squad?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 00:10:31
A man who can't keep his word all the time, can't be trusted. If BR thinks Lucas is no longer good enuff on the pitch, that is a footballing issue that should be debated. But the fact that he is resorting to these disgraceful and cowardly antics because he can't grow a pair and tell players they don't fit his plans, is what is infuriating. Lucas is an exemplary role model for what a pro should be and carries himself with respect and dignity, things BR wishes he had in his personality. He'd better be careful with the way he's acting and treating others because karma is a b***c and what goes around comes around.

I think the tactical genius should play 0-10-0, then everyone like Lucas, Henderson, Milner, Can, Allen, Coutinho can play in the middle.
