According to the Liverpool Echo, the Lazar Markovic was expected to have a medical in Merseyside today, but due to 'logistical issues', it is likely to be pushed back until Friday or Saturday.

Believable53 Unbelievable11

James pearce Liverpool echo has said Liverpool are still trying to complete a deal for moreno the he has said the player wants to join

Agree4 Disagree0

Has James Pearce been on the sauce? Thought Moreno was a dead deal and the player wanted to stay in Spain?

Agree0 Disagree4

I heard that Ian Ayre came to pick him up at the airport on his Harley but Markovich refused to get on the back as there was no spare helmet. we're hopeful of having it sorted by tomorrow - he's going to borrow an old rollerskate helmet and try again.

Agree6 Disagree0

He has good lfc info m8

Agree0 Disagree0

This may be clutching at straws but Clare Rouke the LFC TV woman tweeted yesterday that she was off to Melwood. Later she tweeted that it was a 'wasted day' before it was deleted. Now she has tweeted she is off to Melwood again today. Perhaps she went yesterday for the customary post signing interview of Markovic but with it being put back they couldn't do it, and now she is going again today perhaps to do it today, so maybe his medical will be today as reported. Just reading between the lines here like!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There was a little work needed this morning to address an outstanding issue that had caused the delay - it was to do with someone's availability. After that is cleared up he will be able to travel and that could be today.}

A logistical error sounds like he got on the wrong bus, probably ended up in Croxteth, if he's hiding any bullet holes in the post signing pictures then you know I'm right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds can you tell us which players availability was enquired about?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You have misunderstood.}

Oh right ed Dw I get it now haha.

Hi Eds this is from a reliable friend who works in security at Liverpools Melwood training facility. He has reported a few moments ago that Markovic and Origi have just arrived at the training ground and representatives of Wilifried Bony have been there since this morning. He doesn't know if Markovic or Origi are having medicals but this could be most likely.
Anyway Eds does this indicate that Bony's representives are there to thrash a deal for him to join shortly. what's the latest with him

Believable37 Unbelievable70

I think it it indicates that you might be telling fibs my dear fellow.
James pearce, who doesn't work in security at melwood, has said the medical has been postponed.

Agree4 Disagree0

Yes MF been all over radio today that his representatives are there!

Agree2 Disagree0

Liverpool have no intrest in bony at this time but are in for davies

Liverpool Football Club are considering making a move for Club León's Mexican international midfielder José Juan Vázquez.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder has played a huge part in Leon's recent rise from 2nd division obscurity to securing the Mexican title. He also impressed at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Liverpool have made a formal enquiry about the availability of Vázquez

Believable12 Unbelievable54

Why not go for medel, prem experience lives in uk and will be cheap

Agree4 Disagree2

Why would Medel be cheap?

Hi eds a few sites are reporting Liverpool could turn to benzema as Luis replacement, please tell me that this is a viable option, thanks.

Believable14 Unbelievable59

{Ed002's Note - I can't do that.}

So don't hold my breath then? If falcao does sign for real, then benzema won't be no1 striker, (take Ronaldo out of the. Equation )I would imagine that would be a problem to him, do u think he would consider us

Agree0 Disagree3

We desperately need a good replacement for Suarez. Otherwise we are doomed.

Agree4 Disagree10

I got the feeling Ian Ayre will pull a rabbit out of the hat on deadline day!

Agree2 Disagree8

Who do you see Liverpool targeting then eds, surely they will go for another striker and not 1000 wingers?

Agree1 Disagree2

No Chris, not deadline day, that's just to much to take.

Hi eds, any truth in the rumours linking Aspas with a move to Sevilla? Where is his most likely destination if that's not the case. Many thanks.

Believable42 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

10 Jul 2014 16:04:27
Ok, but if they want our prized asset they had better let us have Moreno. Swaperoo anyone? ;)

Agree6 Disagree1

10 Jul 2014 15:32:11
Could he be used as a makeweight in a potential deal for Moreno, perhaps?

Agree3 Disagree1

Is there chance of using him in the deal to buy Moreno?

Agree1 Disagree4

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so.}

It doesn't really make sense in theory because surely if the clubs only needed to iron out the payment structure on the Moreno transfer, than Aspas could be used to provide the extra "down payment"? Wouldn't you have thought so Ed?

Agree2 Disagree0

Eds the Liverpool Echo have said we have agreed a fee for Moreno but what is holding the deal up is the structure of the payments as Seville want the bulk of the fee payed up front is this correct to your knowledge?

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a bid of £5M for Aspas from Seville with the club holding out for £7M is this also true?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - We dealt with Moreno a couple of weeks ago. I have no interest in discussing money.}

Ah jaysus I was only jokin. Sevilla want Moreno money up front which Liverpool will have when Barceloa get the money for Sanchez. Expect some tranfer dominoes once funds are freed up.

Timothee Kolodziejczak from Olyp Lyonnaise. Spent some time working in France & Austria last year. Watched this kid a few times and looks a promising attacking left back. Any clubs shown any interest or following his progress? Thank you.

Believable0 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - He left Lyon 2 years ago - Nice's Kolodziejczak is a player that St Etienne has shown an interest in but they do not agree with the price being asked. His representatives have spoken with various clubs in England where they feel they can get a better price - certainly Southampton and Manchester United were approached. I am not aware of interest from either at this time although West Ham United are showing an interest.}

Hi Ed2, quick question for when you have a spare moment please.

Where do medicals fit into the transfer process? Can they only be done at a certain point in the process and are they the final stage before the FA complete the paperwork?

Thank you

They want to make sure that everything is done before Dr. Zaff can start touching the player.

Agree2 Disagree1

And at the very end a sharp intake of breath when asked to cough!

Agree1 Disagree0

I remember seeing an interview with Robbie Fowler, he went for a medical at Man City (whilst at Leeds)
He went back to Leeds and said he'd rather stay. The director he spoke to told him to jump ship and go as Leeds were about to go bust

Just posting to say that although it's final stages, nothing is done until the club announce it.

Hi eds.
Could big ron vlaar be an alternative to lovren? He has been fantastic during world cup in my opinion. Big solid no nonsense centre half just what we need.
Cheers

Believable4 Unbelievable25

{Ed002's Note - But there has been no interest shown.}

I was thinking this last night. He was good, albeit in a 6 man defense against another defensive team. I don't think he'd be bad IF we can't get Lovren, who I really rate.

Agree1 Disagree2

Not good enough. Good world cup does not a player make.

Agree1 Disagree0

No thanks! More penalties given away me thinks! Good for holland not so much for club

Agree2 Disagree0

Vlaar isn't a patch on Lovren.

Agree1 Disagree0

Holland defend deep so his lack of pace is not exposed. Been grill in the WC though.

Ed is Draxler still available and could we be interested?

Eds. Sorry if this has been asked before but do you know anything about the rumour Wilfried Bony's agents discussing terms with us?

Do you think we'll buy another striker with Suarez's impending departure and possibly aspas leaving the club as well?

thanks

Believable13 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about the Bony rumours.}

10 Jul 2014 11:41:23
Edsoo1 if you are about?

Have the club ever had Rodrigo watched from Benfica, brazialian lad in his early 20's? represented Spain at U 21 / U23 etc

He's been through the Real Madrid B & C teams and I remeber he had a loan spell at Bolton, but I never caught much of him playing

He looks a like a bright young prospect at Benfica, quick and skillfull and an eye for goal. presumably he starts befor Makovic given his age and experience, at Benfica

Thanks in advance Eds

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - yes, he was looked at last season. Arsenal and Spurs had a look at him as well.}

Hi Ed's, great work again so early in the transfer window!

I've heard a few rumors going around about Enzo Perez being linked with us, and that we've made a bid, any truth in it?

AR

Believable1 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - the Argentinian lad? Last I heard it was all agreed for him to join a Spanish club, though for the life of me I can't remember who it was.}

Agger has put he's house and restaurant in lark lane up for sale. Looks like he is getting ready to leave.

Believable51 Unbelievable26

Very sad moment what a amazing defender

Agree2 Disagree0

Would be sadder to see him play a bit-part at Liverpool. Good luck DAgger, there's not many that will remember you as anything less than a hero in the red shirt, and as your knuckles will always remind you, YNWA.

Agree1 Disagree0

Erm. i'm not saying Agger won't leave - But this is nonsense as Daniel sold those Restaurants years ago on Lark Lane!

Agree3 Disagree0

A train He has 3 restaurants and just sold one on lark lane. He owned 2 which were sold years ago and was part owner of another so your the one talking nonsense.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 18:48:17
It seems like the club has decided it's time for Agger to leave. When he signed from Brondby 8 years ago the clubs made an agreement that LFC should play a friendly in Brondby. So far the club hasn't been able to fullfill that agreement but suddenly the friendly was anounced a few weeks ago and with rather short notice. Somehow it just adds to the overall picture that the club is expecting Agger to leave soon.

Liverpool are targeting Swansea City Ben Davies in a bid to solve the club's left-back ailments.

Davies, 21, could be available for around £10 million, with Tottenham also said to be interested.

Rodgers oversaw some of Davies' development in the youth set-up at Swansea during his spell at the Liberty Stadium between 2010 and 2012.

source: a newspaper

Believable28 Unbelievable83

Would rather just play Smith.

Agree6 Disagree1

Better choice than Bertrand, but we should be concentrating on sorting out the structure of the payment terms to complete the Moreno deal as that's all that is holding the deal up apparently.

Agree7 Disagree1

If this is true along with other rumours it would appear Rodgers has as much sense in the transfer market as Dalglish. Awful awful awful business thus far so nothing surprises me any more. May ad well forget about challenging for anything next season at this rate.
P.s I'm not usually this negative

Agree1 Disagree7

Davis looked good last season. Think this would be a good signing, still young a good player. Would agree about Smith but just a bit too much pressure to make him a regular so cup games and sub appearance in the EPL

This is light years ahead of awful Bertrand

Agree3 Disagree1

Hope not

Agree0 Disagree1

Hope not

Agree0 Disagree1

It does seem to have gone quiet on the left back front.
I wonder if Liverpool are now targeting rojo? Can't do anything about it just yet as he is still involved in the World Cup.
Could that be possible eds?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think things are waiting on outs actually mate.}

10 Jul 2014 12:36:19
WelshKop

"Awful awful awful business".

Which part so far has been awful?

Rickie Lambert for around 4 million? Someone who's scored nearly 30 goals in the last two years in the premier league. For 4 million.

Emre Can for 10 million? Somebody who is thought very highly of and ten million is not a massive gamble on the lad.

Lallana for 25 million? Granted the price is a bit steep but I think he will be a brilliant addition to the squad. Times last year we were crying out for a bit of creativity. I think he is that missing creative link.

If that's awful business then I can say I'm quite happy about it but feel free to keep moaning about it.

(NOTE - I know those figures aren't entirely accurate but they seem to be the figures generally banded about).

Agree3 Disagree0

Eds - please tell me the bony and Davies rumours are fabricated/lazy journalism.

Such an anticlimax following Rodgers' 'players to improve the first team' quote.

Bony isn't much of an improvement on lambert and I just can't see him working with sturridge.

Another year, another disappointing/bewildering transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree1

@Wassa, I bet you said these sort of good things about Aspas, Alberto & Ilori last summer. Brendan's summer transfers have been nothing short of blunders. Allen, Borini, Alberto, Aspas, Ilori, Kolo. The only reason he had two good seasons is because of Suarez. Now, he's gone. How does Brendan replace him? By bringing in a 33 year old washed up hasbeen. We'll go back to 7th place at the end of next season. The players we've brought in and those who we are actually being linked cannot tie Suarez's laces. We're doomed next season which will likely be BR's last. MARK MY WORDS!!

Agree0 Disagree6

Trust me that price is way too high. He is a liability defensively and doesn't set the world alight going forward.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 00:31:42
First time poster, but feel as if I should share some knowledge that came to my attention today.

Apparently the search for a centre forward replacement has shifted from Huntelaar to Bony, for whatever reason. Moreover, the Origi deal sits on the back burner - only to be completed if a loan back option for the forthcoming season is agreed.

Don't shoot the messenger, and cheers for your hard work Eds

I've heard were trying to sign Daley Blind from Ajax as our new left back. Can't see it happening though :-)

Believable6 Unbelievable72

If only. Quality player, title winner, skilful and can play in a few positions. Twice the cost of Bertrand, 10 times the player.

Mate of mine sent me a photo today of a guy who looked very much like Origi, going into Melwood. Medical perhaps?

Believable45 Unbelievable8

Still weighing up his options and saying he'll make a decision within two weeks, but says he's got lots of offers on the table. Few agreed with Lille though :)

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 02:47:55
another one that get's away. are we really just going to have lambert and sturridge for our champions league night's :/

Agree1 Disagree4

LFC89 are you really being that pessimistic. Even if he did sign he's what like 19 would he be ready for the champions league. And what I've been reading he would be going back on loan to Lille. You really need to stop thinking like that

Agree4 Disagree1

To be fair Challo LFC he has got a point striker wise when Luis goes we are going to be very light up front when it comes to challenging for the league and champions league like, don't get me wrong I totally 100% behind brendo and am excited for the season to start but when Luis goes his goals go with him and we should really be trying to replace those goals with goals and the only way were going to do that is by replacing him with another world class striker, origi (if he was an option for this season) and lambert just aren't world class, lambert will be trustworthy cover and studger will undoubtedly rack up as many as he can but his fitness and injuries still a worry and when Luis goes we're going to be in trouble, I know the club are workin hard to add depth and I back that completely, I just can't see us getting anybody of Luis calibre who tried and tested, everyone we got in apart from lambo are for the future and as happy as I am with the way the club is moving forward I can't help worrying that we're selling a 30 goal a season player and not replacing him with a 30 goal a season player, in my opinion that should have become priority No.1 as soon as negotiations for Luis' inevitable departure began to take place,
Not a moan, just an opinion, I'm sure as soon as we kick off against Southampton I won't be worried bout any of this! Ha YNWA,
Good work as always eds

Agree1 Disagree0

You guys forgetting Borini? Think he can come back an improved player and good option for some league and cup games.

Agree0 Disagree2

But still couldn't be trusted to score 10+ goals for the season, don't get me wrong lid I'm not slating who we've got just worried that we're not trying to replace Luis with the same calibre of player, if we're letting a proven world class goal scorer leave then we should be doing everything possible to replace him with the same calibre of player! a goal scorer employed to do nothing but score and assist, when spuds shifted bale they bought in plenty of "quality" squad players and they neither gelled nor performed, chelsea have already signed costa, arsenal have pretty much signed Sanchez, the are spending and citeh have got awesome firepower and the resources to have whoever they want, I think we should use whatever money that comes from Luis' transfer or as much of It as possible to sign as high quality proven goal scorer as we can find, ok I don't know who that is but if the club approach the right players then at least one of them could be interested in joining as with Luis going we have a vacancy for star striker in a team challenging for the title and champions league, now there MUST be a goal scorer out there who would fancy that.

Agree1 Disagree0

Like Napoli for example, when they lost cavani to P.S.G they spent a big chunk of the money they received for him on bringin in Higuain to replace the goals they knew they'd inevitably lost with cavani's move away, now call me what you like and even though I undoubtadely biased but I believe we are a bigger club than Napoli and think we should be able to attract someone who is a tried, tested and trusted goal scorer, ok we wouldn't be able to get an exact like for like as suarez but I'm sure we could attract someone who could get us at least 20 goals in the league for the upcoming season.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 11:21:18
Borini' haha. One of the worst strikers that's ever been at the club.

Agree1 Disagree4

There is no-one anywhere near the level of Suarez that we can purchase to directly replace him. We have to take the profit, get rid of the bad press and re-invest wisely. Lallana and Lambert will both add goals/chances.

I agree that we need a goalscorer that is highly promising and at a good level that we can mould into an absolute machine, just like we did with Suarez.
