what are the chances that Skrtel leaves?

Believable80 Unbelievable41

75% gone

Agree0 Disagree0

He was player of the season the season before last I think he should stay unless we get 12-15 mil for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Every chance if someone meets the club's valuation I would think.

Ciario80

Agree0 Disagree0

He should stay and fight. Last year was a transition year for the defense and Pepe. Sounds like his agent is desperate for a signing on fee though so he will probably move.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's virtually gone mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with comment towards top, from player of season to pack your bags your not wanted? Skrtel is a beast and should stay, instead of willing to pay £12-£15m for the Greek lad, Skrtel had a bad game at Oldham now BR has lost faith? Look how many times ashley williams gave goals away at Swansea and all BR said he's human he's tired, ut happens, he's played a million games this lmao. Madness Skrtel to stay! Red Smoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

Skrtel would get bullied off the ball by an 11 year old girl. Sell him he's a big soft arse or maybe Liverpool Ladies need a bald headed wimp with tattoos and acrylic nails

Agree0 Disagree0

Napoli are interested but his wages could be a problem. His agent flies into Liverpool tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Skrtel had a bad game at Oldham? He had an entirely bad season!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read the damn posts, how many times have we been over this. This page needs to stop going on about Skrtel, Reina, Suarez, Shelvey, Carroll & the youngsters, its been done to death over and over again, eds if I was you guys i'd refuse to post the majorty of this, you guys deserve medals the size of a frying pan, must feel like your going around in circles!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mates, I am really suprised about how Rodgers' usage on Skrtel. he has been the regular CB for the past years and last year he suddenly lost his place to the retiring Carragher, I am very suprised as I don't see many mistakes from him; what do you guys think of the reason?

Agree0 Disagree0

The consensus seemed to be that Siegel had a falling out with Rodgers which is why he was abruptly benched in the latter half of the season. He was playing extremely well alongside Agger too which is a shame really to see it come to this. A lot of short memory lfc fans on here saying he had a bad season. Actually replay from the start the games he did play and you'll see him and Agger were pretty solid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he made many mistakes and Carragher was simply BETTER

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably because carragher put in some of his best LFC performances in during the tail end of last season IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

"Don" (Okay). Some fans just come on for the occasional read, not live on it like you. {Ed001's Note - then read that posts and we won't have to deal with ridiculous repeat posts like this, would we? What an idiotic attempt at a smart arsed comment, just proves how lacking in any smarts you are.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It's quite simply about sell on value. Skrtel is a good player and character who is appreciated at the club but he is 28 & if somebody offers close to €15m he'll be sold. Kyriakos Papadopoulos is 21 & would retain his value a lot better. However he is recovering from a knee operation and has stated he is happy at Schalke.

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO Skrtel was poor and deserved to be dropped. If he hadn't being playing poor then I'd have been happy to see Agger dropped, he was sluggish this season and made quite a few mistakes himself. All in all, if we had more quality backup then the 2 of them could have been dropped. Yes Carragher was old and slow but he was definitely our best centre back last season.

Sean Ireland

Agree0 Disagree0

If Skrtel leaves, we will only have seven CBs.

Carra came back in to tighten things up and be the leader at the back. We were conceding poor goals - some from freekicks/corners which could have been prevented through the organisation Carra brings

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he does leave because he is useless and we have kolo toure now

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo, I don't think he will leave, and I think coates will only be loaned out /not sold.

Hey eds. I know we are looking at Ilori but I have been wondering have we been looking at any other players from Sporting or other Portugese league? i. e Rui Patricio to replace Reina or Wingers like Atsu? {Ed002's Note - There was some mention of Atsu but I am not aware of an offer for Atsu from Liverpool at this time. Everton, Spurs and Toulouse have enquired as to his availability and Porto want a new deal.}

Believable30 Unbelievable11

Hello Ed,
I noticed you mentioned yesterday that an enquiry was made by LFC for German Pezzella who is an Argentine CB. We are also interested in Tiago Illori. Do you reckon it will be one or the other?
As surely we only need one young CB to replace Coates and any other CB who will come in will be pretty experienced such as Papadopoulos, Botia or Lovren. {Ed002's Note - I am telling you that there was an enquiry - nothing more.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we be looking for a replacement for Reina? he is not going anywhere.

eds with cavani coming out and saying he likes playing alongside suarez do you think if FSG put up the money up for cavani it might change luis mind and would also probably put us in the top three. That would be some forward line of Cavani Suarez Sturridge Couthino {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable33 Unbelievable102

Thanks noname, this brightened up my afternoon!

HB

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose you know everything that's going to happen at the club do you I love all the know alls on this site. Everyone can have an opinion but obviously you know better than anyone else sorry for interrupting your afternoon MR Rodgers I take it you are Brenden Rodgers as you seem to know that it definatly won't happen IF you read my question I did say IF

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly after putting up £35 million for Carroll and it not paying off, I would say they are scared of spending big money on one player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani going to Chelski

Agree0 Disagree0

I love that to happen but it never will, would cavani love playing with luis so much he'd turn down Cheal$ea or $ity money, or the madrid or monaco lifestyle?

Agree0 Disagree0

FSG spending big money?? You are having a laugh. The only way 20 million plus might be spent on one player is when Luis is sold. And mark my words, his replacement will not be as entertaining or score as many goals. {Ed030's Note - Are you serious mate??Do you know Liverpool would be in administration if it was not for Fsg Also Suarez £24m,Carrol £35m do you know what you are talking about Fsg are good owners they might not spend £100s Millions a year on players,But they have the best interests of the club at heart. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree with the eds on this one FSG are not scared to spend big money as the ed said, so it is feasible that they could do it again if we got rid of carroll 15m downing 8m with the likes of spearing 3m pacheco 1.5m it all adds up. We could get about 40m for all the dead wood plus their wages off the bill Cavanis buy out clause is 53m so why couldn't it happen

Agree0 Disagree0

No champions league! They'll both be at Madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a mouth watering line up, I agree buddy and wish it would be so. I did read your post and I'm not in the know or a connected guy and appreciate your post, we can only dream of it happening at this time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said ed30
And fsg have the right idea of building success you only have to look at city this year won nothing look at Madrid they have won nothing this year. united (as much as it hurts) have the right way spend big on the odd player and gradually integrate the youngsters with the pros that is what Liverpool are trying to do. yes we need to spend on the players that make a difference but not every player in every position has to be a world beater just efficient.

Agree0 Disagree0

I see your point ed like many Liverpool fans but how long is that card going to last in regards to them saving us from administration? If they haven't got the financial power to push Liverpool towards the title then what's the point. They have a wonderful plan. on paper. But the harsh reality is you have to spend to accumulate. I am not talking mega rich. But Spurs for example spend good amounts of money and the progess has been there to see the last few seasons. Not having a go either ed just an observation. {Ed030's Note - Liverpool have continually been in the top ten spenders in the world under Fsg so If that is not enough I don't know what is mate. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to add to this post EDS Rafa Benitez is looking at Skrtle Reina and Lucas nice little swap for Cavani NEVER SAY NEVER

Agree0 Disagree0

Why we at it we mite as well buy messi and ronaldo

Agree0 Disagree0

I think both of them will bee in Real Madrid next season. But I don't hope that because I am a Liverpool support and I hope Suarez IS in Liverpool next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry but to the guy that mentioned lucas. He is a key player, his commitment, loyalty and passion for LFC are something you can't buy. You can find a cavani easily but a lucas is hard to come by.
I'm not going to be hostile to suarez, I can understand why he would want to leave. i'm just intrigued to see how LFC look come September first.
in the end it all comes down to the fact I trust BR.

Agree0 Disagree0

More chance both of them being at Real Madrid next season than Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you missed my point. 35 million was spent on Carroll AFTER we got 50 million for Torres. I would not expect FSG to spend anything over 15 million on one player UNLESS Suarez is sold. My second point is that he would not be replaced with a player of equal ability. I don't think we are far off being able to compete at the top but we need a couple of really top players plus keeping Luis. The FSG plan may be financially sound but but we are a mid table club and will remain so if we only develop and then sell, our best players. I honestly can't see what is so wrong with this opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see where Redbart was coming from but also see it from FSG's point of view.
There is no way FSG would have shelled out £35M on Carroll if they hasn't had their pockets lined by the Torres sale. Basically Torres and Babel paid for Suarez and AC. That's not to say I don't think they are good owners, just frugal ones. Would like to see them make proper moves on the stadium before I judge properly but I think they have sensibly backed the managers and had one quick splurge when the Torres deal came in. Don't sees many more big spends but also believe we will constantly get their support.
Not the saviours but not H&G. That's got to be a good thing.

Hi eds, is it true that if we do sell Carroll for say 15m, he would be entitled to 12m or something near that figure in wages as he has not asked for a move? so in other words we would have to pay his contract up and end up only having 3m of the fee rather than the full 15m?

Al {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable5 Unbelievable69

No but with all players he will be entitled to his loyalty bonus which was probably around 1m+

Agree0 Disagree0

Word in the Toon is that the proposed swap deal Carroll for Ben Arfa is being resurrected and that Pool have enquirer about Cisse's position as well.

Thanks ed002 for the comment stating we shouldn't be shocked to see an offer for Suarez submitted this week, hopefully the whole messy affair can be dealt with sooner rather than later

When you said that a number of agreements had been reached between Suarez representatives and Real Madrid, what are we talking, wages, agents fees etc

And any idea if we can expect a straight cash deal or any players that could possibly offered as part of the deal

Cheers
MikeCass
JFT96 YNWA {Ed002's Note - The agreements ill be regarding the sort of offer he will be given.}

Believable8 Unbelievable22

We should say to all interested clubs that we will not accept less than £50M. let's face it he is defiantly worth it no question about that.

The only players we should accept as part of the deal should be:

Real Madrid
Alonso, Higuain or Marcelo

Bayern Munich
Gustavo or Gomez

Juventus
Giovinco

I don't want us to accept players with potential we already have enough at our club we are going to be loosing a world class player so we need either as much money as possible to buy replacements or we need good proven players that are for the first team and that can make a difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would prefer the cash rather than the player plus cash
Benteke
Tello
And eriksen/mkhtiryan
With some of the cash from the sale would do just nice for me and I wouldn't pay over 16 million for benteke

Agree0 Disagree0

Sod Suarez
He has shown how self centred he is after all the club have done for him how the fans adore him how the club gave him a new big money contract after the evra incident how he said only a few months ago he wants to honour his contract. The man is nothing but trouble get rid I just wish that we wer a mega rich club and make him rott in the reserves

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were a "mega rich club" he probably would not be angling for a move.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point bout us not being mega rich he wouldn't leave apart from the fact he has said it is due to his family suffering from the media and being treated unfairly by the fa

Are you crazy? Liverpool and fans stood for him because he is one of Liverpool`s and best player in world football, if that was spearing who wants to stay but is being forced out neither fans or Liverpool are standing for him are they? By same token even carroll is being forced out neither iverpool or fans are standing for him are they?

Suarez is doing the same what any player would do, let's be honest here Liverpool are no where near to match suarez ambition or any top players, can't even achieve minimum targets like europa forget top4, why would any top player waste his talent for a midtable team whose ambition is only to stay in premier league, you might not like it what I say but if you compare Liverpool to top teams at this moment and the players they want compare to top teams, that just makes clear that lfc won't finish in top4 for few years.

Hi Eds,

A rumour floating around the supporters groups here in Hull is that BR is in for Sone Aluko, left winger from Hull City, any truth?

Just a minor update. I posted last week I had heard Newcastle, Sunderland and a host of championship clubs were looking at Spearing. I've now been told Sunderland have dropped their interest for the time being as an initial enquiry suggested a price they thought too high. Again, not a major bit of news, just passing on what I've heard.

Believable43 Unbelievable7

Thanks Andy, this is the type of rumor that actually has foundation, rather than my mates uncle says we are signing cavani

Agree0 Disagree0

If the interest from Sunderland is real, and our interest in Mignolet is real, surely some form of 'swap' could be reached?

Hi Eds.

I read you say Shelvey will probably leave but I haven't seen us linked with any CM's. Are you aware of any we are looking at?

Lucas/Gerrard/Henderson/Allen isn't enough for me considering 2 have just undergone surgery and any complications or further problems would leave us extremely short. {Ed001's Note - I haven't heard of any, though we do have a few younger players that might fancy the chance of filling in.}

Believable9 Unbelievable18

Rather keep Shelvey and sell Allen

Agree0 Disagree0

What about eriksen and mkhtyrian w have been linked to these albeit they are CAM

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully coady will get a chance. As I feel being given the responsibility of being in the first team will be the making of him. If not then at least we'll know

Sporting Lisbon have knocked back a £3m offer from us for Ilori, and are wanting at least £6m.
Ed's/Fellow reds, thoughts?

Believable44 Unbelievable6

No way would I spend 6million on this dud, please look to German Speller for this price. {Ed002's Note - You need to get the hate campaigns up and running for all of the players Liverpool are looking at - make sure the fans have their say.}

Hi Eds

Regarding the CB issue we need a player like the Hypia type very dominant, fast, aggresive and wins the aerial battle's. Are there any CB in the German or Dutch league's we are looking at. Spain don't seem to have good Cb's

Thanks Eds
Zorro {Ed001's Note - Hyypia was far from fast! I have said all I know regarding CBs, I still expect at least one more to come in, but I have no new ones to add to the ones I have mentioned in the past.}

Believable3 Unbelievable17

Big Sammi fast? that has got to be the best comment I've heard so far this year, I've seen quicker slugs

Agree0 Disagree0

Hyppia, fast thanks mate I needed a laugh.

Big Sam was not fast at all with his legs, fast with his mind and reading the game well that's a different matter, what I would do for a young Sami Hyypia of 1999 to come back and boss our back line again

Just passing on what I know

Believable19 Unbelievable74

Yeah right. It would be nice but I can't see it happen, especially not the next 72 hours.

Agree0 Disagree0

As I said yesterday, if Begovic doesn't sign, I will leave this website.
An announcement might not be made until early july.
Rest assured, he will be our shot stopper on the opening day.

Agree0 Disagree0

To Ashley, I think you may be right as he himself came out and said he will be linking up with his fellow players (Liverpool FC) on July 10 for Training (i forgot the website I seen it on although apparently it was a miss interpretation), I still think Reina will leave so we will need a proven Goalkeeper and i'd like a back up as Jones is not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

I rather have Mingolet

If this was done in 3 days why would they wait 3 weeks to announce it? Playing hard-ball with a fee for Reina?

Hi Eds,

Is there anything going about us looking at Celtics Victor Wanyama? Does anyone else think he is something we need, physical, big strong and a great big player, and at 21 perfect. Personally I think he would do a better job than Lucas. {Ed001's Note - nope.}

Believable5 Unbelievable35

You do realize Lucas made the second largest number of successful tackles in the league last season, after missing a large amount of the beginning of it. right?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 01 must be sick and tired of trying to explain the same thing over and over again to so many on here.
Look this is quite simple, look at the type of players that BR likes, they are clever, technical, very good in posession, can pass ( and see a pass early ) can interchange positions well. His teams press and win the ball back in groups quickly and use the ball and movement off it to attack. So can we please get away from the "he is big, he is strong, he carries the ball" Andy carrol type of players.
This is not because their bad players, they just don't suit the type he wants. Wayama has been asked about for the last 9 months, he will not be comming. Benteke, Wanyama, Shane Long, Andy Carrol, Skertle would have interested KD but BR?
The rumours about Benteke actually surprise me? Maybe they were more worried about Sturridge's injury than they said, and with no Suarez they might have covered all angles, who knows.
For me I'm more interested in the statistics on the LFC website the other day, and especially the one that showed we scored so many goals with the right foot and so few with the Left. The team seems a bit unbalanced to me and he seems to play right footed players on the left and quite frankly the right side has looked a bit weak this season. If Suarez goes Ed do you think Atura is the answer there? or another face ( a real RW )?

Eds, with Norwich and West Ham United interested do u think Shelvey will go? Have 2 agree that he doesn't seem to clinical or skillful enough to nail down a position, partly because its not clear on what his best 1 is? I think he should move on and maybe in 5 years he will have developed to a better player ( which he has 2 if he wants to progress at international level) and we could have 1st option on him then but for now we have better players in each position he is vying for. Hendo, SG and lucus and I'm sure BR will look to bring in a DM so bye bye Jon Jon

Daniellambretta {Ed002's Note - I think JonJonJo will probably leave.}

Believable35 Unbelievable8

I think otherwise ed, he is 20yrs old and played well beginning of the season, he should sit down with Rodgers and ask him if he can go on loan for the season and then come back with a full season playing under his belt, he is undoubtedly a talented lad and with the right people around him will get better.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I got a quid everytime I heard this question asked i'd be a multi billionaire.

JonJonJo is one of them, he seems 50/50 with the fans, I personally like the kid, I could see him been something quite special, but what do I know. hopefully he stays, but I doubt it!

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought BR loved him and saw him as part of the future of the club

Agree0 Disagree0

It'd be a bad move selling Jonjo, he reminds me of a young SG. He's already got a cap for england despite only being a bit player.

Agree0 Disagree0

His first touch and game intelligence are poor and for our style of play it makes him starting pretty unfeasible. I like his desire and effort I really do but that can only take you so far. Be worth sending him out on loan for a season at another premier league club and seeing if he develops/responds well. If so good for us if not at least he can forge a move to another team and have a hopefully successful career. Selling him off now could come back to bite us in future (i. e. Tom Ince).
