ed do you know what wingers we are currently intrested in {Ed002's Note - Matt Phillips.}

I really don't know how Dalglish wants to make liverpool a superpower in football again with players like matt phillips or charlie adam!!
Eds, why are we buying players like this and not players like podolski whom Arsenal is going to buy? {Ed001's Note - Phillips is what we need, a right winger.}

What need though is a good right winger.

Not another championship player that will go missing playing for us.

Cheers Steve K

Yes Eds we need a right winger,
but a QUALITY right winger!
I don't think Matt Phillips is what we need to compete against ManUtd, ManCity, Chelsea and so on!! {Ed002's Note - You should let Dalglish know your concerns.}

Yeah i am already searching for a way to influence dalglish's transfer policy.

Hello Ed002,
do you think that KK will be the manager next year if (even if he wins the FA cup) he doesn't get the top 4 spot? {Ed002's Note - Personally I don't think he will be.}

Who do you reckon is being looked at or who do you think we could get for the position Ed? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea right now.}

Personally agree with ed, if thinga continue as they are, I can't see KK as boss next season. As much as it shames me to say it.

Don't be surprised to see AVB as Liverpool manager next season.

I love Kenny and it would be a shame to see him go. But at the end of the day he hasn't signed the right players and thats why i think we are not getting the results. Two Cups would be a good way for him to go out.

Ed002 why dont u think kenny will be here next year because i think hes done a good job and just need a few more players so it all clicks together, and who would take over in your opinion especially if we dont get champions league which looks very likely? im just curious thanks {Ed002's Note - Expectations of the owners and the board are high and Champions League qualification was the target and, regardless of the players coming in, it will not be achieved. Further issues are of course related to the incidents surrounding Suarez and I have no doubt there will be much to be considered at the end of teh season. On the basis of this, I would not be at all surprised to see him step down. Clearly many of the fans want him out now.}

Just read this ed, and to be honest i have to agree, i love the man and he helped us when we were in truobe and he will always be a liverpool legend BUT i dont think he can managethe game the way it is now and ino he won the carling cup but i dont think that will be enough.... who do you think will replace him? i would love it to be pep guardiola and he said he wanted a chalenge could lfc be the job?

keep up the great work {Ed002's Note - I have no feeling for who would come next but I suspect that the owners would seek out a progressive manager. I think Rene Girard will get teh French national role, but someone like him would make sense to me. Perhaps Deschamps. But it is very early to speculate.}

You think the board might take action before the season's out Ed? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Can you speculate as to whether there is any possibility of Mourinho coming to LFC Eds? I know it's too early to tell, but just curious. {Ed002's Note - I would say not.}

As much as I love Liverpool gotta say u lads are right... Kennys loved and always wil b by us fans but he bin out the game 4 2 long he doesn't know wat he's doin his changes Neva impact or change a game... And he's already giving sum lads 1 2 many chances 2 prove themselves also there passing has gone really sloppy

Mourinho's ego is to big i personnally don't want him. screwed over chelseas youth aswell. {Ed016's Note - Alright call for his head...pathetic. He was there for Liverpool when we needed him and we should be there for him now in stead of turning against him after not even one full season and we are still in the FA cup, thats not a "mickey mouse" cup, I will not easily forget what he did for this club, what he has done and what he will do.}

Totally agree with Ed016 - KK deserves nothing but respect from LFC fans. If the owners want a change of management in the summer then so be it but sickens me to see fans calling for his head.

cozinoz

I have to admit that I agree with the ed on this one. I really want KK to succeed but am becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of tactical nous that I see from the sidelines. I would have to ask if the eds are making a claim from a little bit of inside info or if it is a gut feeling. Secondly, any ideas who might come in?

To the original poster, fair play for posting this. I am a fanatical LFC fan a seasion ticket holder who has seen almost every away game. I love Kenny but let's be objective and take the deep sentiment out of it. We are miles away from Champ Lg qualification so even if we end up with both domestic cups, the season is a failure in my eyes and I am sure after heavy investment the owners may be thinking the same (all of my friends share the same view). Why was the need for at least one clinical striker not addressed last summer/in January. For me, up front was the priority position and alarmingly still is. One final thing linked to this - will the owner's review Comoli's position - is he the one at fault for not identifying the right players to elevate us this season? (Adam and Henderson are prime examples). Lee {Ed002's Note - I am sure the owners will have much to consider at the end of the season and they will certainly not shy away from acting to get the club from where it is now to where they want it to be.}

I think everyone agrees that Kenny deserves respect for what he has done for LFC as both player and manager, but this does not suddenly give him immunity and some of you guys forget that. If we lost every game to the end of the season will you still be bleating on about his past work and loyalty?
I think it is fairly obvious that after the initial 'honeymoon' period things have settled down a little lower than expected. Man for man LFC are stronger than last year and there is a much better sense of togetherness which we owe to Kenny.
We do have several players who are not playing as they can/should and this will be partly down to Kenny and his tactics. Also, Kenny appears to have fallen into the same defensive mindset with regards to interviews that Rafa did. He sounds sarcastic and rude, and I can only imagine he thinks he is being witty. This attitude rubs off on the whole squad.

This year should be seen as purely transitional and as the year LFC was sorted out to prepare for a good future. We have good owners who want to invest and have set their standards high. We have players with quality and with a couple more coming in summer we will have a competitive squad next year. The fact we have won a trophy (possibly will win two) and gained Europa cup entry next year is a bonus.
My personal view on the manager position is that Rafa would be the best person to come in for next season. The reason for this is this:
1. He is available
2. He loves Liverpool FC, the supporters and the City.
3. With decent owners he can bring great success. Remember it was the old owners that turned him sour.

To clarify my earlier statement, I am not calling for his head, but I do have my doubts about his tactics, team selections and some of the signings made (I include Comoli in this aspect). However, a decent finisher would have carried us comfortably in to 4th this year which makes you woinder why the hell we didn't sign one. I think it is a reasonable assumption to think the owners will be considering if a change is required and to be fair, after the investment they have made, finishing 6th, 7th or 8th surely affords them at least consideration. I for one understand that. - Lee

Well said Lee, totally agree.

On a different note, it is topics like this that make this site so good, but it's a shame that the good ones get 'lost down the thread' when it would be better if topics which generate more discussion like this one remained at the top? Just a thought, but I expect there's a reason why this can't happen.

I agree with all sentiments here.What if the owners gave KK a role upstairs and brought in a young manager for kenny to help.Say AVB that way KK is still a big part of the club and everyone is happy.

Lurgan red

How I Hanker for days of yore!
Are we forgetting that at present, on the whole, the reds are playing very well. We're exciting to watch, dominate possession and create chances. We are lights years away from the dross that we had to endure at the start of last season under RH(he who shall not be named) and Sammy.
Fans are beratting KK for his buys. Forget the costs, English players cost more. Fact! We still got absolute bargains in Enrique and Adam(acknowledge both off form at present) and Hendo and Downing are not as bad as what's been said. In Henderson, we have a 20 yr old, who is not the finished article but in yrs to come fans will be saying what a fantastic player he is. He is our present day Lucas when he first joined and got slagged off left right and centre. He's played out of position but this will benefit his game in the long run.
Downing is........ Well Downing!
KK does have to take responsibility for Carroll though. Here is a player who it is apparent, is a confidence player. To get anything like a consistent run of form from him he needs games, games and more games. Unfortunately he hasn't been afforded that luxury, even when Suarez was banned. Just when it looked like Big Andy had turned the corner and was picking up form and actually looked half decent, he's dropped again. That's KK's fault.
Who knows why we didn't buy a striker in January? Every man and his dog could see we were screaming out for one, and we didn't necessarily have to spend big to get one as I believe that players of the ilk of Jelavic and Rhodes would/could have converted some of the host of chances that we seem to be able to create at will.
So in conclusion we are not far off a top four placing. Yes we need wingers to some degree, but if we'd have had a decent finisher and a bit more luck and less woodwork, we'd be sitting comfortably in that group and possibly challenging the Mancs.
We are better than last year. Rafa's(who I'd have back tomorrow) vision for the youth set up looks like it could soon begin to bear fruit. Several additions in the summer and who knows.
I don't think we need to get rid of KK but if we did, the only person who could do better is Rafa who if he didn't get sidetracked by football politics and think everyone was out to get him would do a behemoth of a job.
NoneTheWiser

In regards to our signings, let's not forget our NET spend as only been about £38-40m. As lots went out the door to even up the books. Also Cole and Aquaman are yet to be the next two off so more revenue to come. But in respect to KK my view is he was only bought in to steady the ship, until someone else could be sort. Unfortunately our owners are streude investors, not like Chelsea,we will not throw money at the problem. I still say now next season everything would have clicked into place and we will see a different Liverpool on the pitch..

Need new thinking the policy of signing young british players is flawed

Kenny will always be a legend at "69 and he did a good job steadying the sinking ship after hodgson. Some of his signings have been poor though and someone more current needs to step in and put a new stamp on the team.

Childwall Red

Nonethewiser- not havin a dig at u but exciting football,dominating possesion and creating chances don't win u games goals win u games...Seroiusly every lfc fan has 2 think 1 thing other than kk wich manager in the right state of mind would 1. Replace fernando Torres then the best striker in the premier league for the best championship striker 2. Who would pay £35 million for Carroll Seroiusly even Newcastle laughed at us and look wat pardew has done 2 that team with that money... We basicali paid them 2 compete with us :-( DNS

eds, do you think liverpool will look for someone with a bit of creativity in midfield this summer who is actually good to watch because watching liverpool lately is just depressing {Ed002's Note - The summer is a way off right now. I had postulated that if Suarez were to leave Liverpool might look at a creative midfield player (such as Ramirez or Eriksen) to replace him.}

Would Eriksen even be possible without CL Ed? {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

I personally think our squad is fine if we have a fast paced cf... We're lacking speed and technique upfront... And Bellamy isn't that is sum1 trys replyn that..

Are we saying that Bellamy is quick up front? Maybe I've missed something from the games I have been at. Good for you ed002 btw a good postulate is the way to start the day. God bless you for that :)

Suarez need a wing man upfront, a fast one... Junior hoilet, Abel hernandez.... Carrol dont fit the game we play, if he does play... he have too play alone upfront... box player... ! But the biggest ishue is that we dont have the creative playmaker... the new gerrard. because he cant play all the time. and a right wing fast...

Hi eds, after watching that shambolic, diabolical, woeful performance (and that's just from Adam) today, I'm confident we need another CM. We must all remember that Lucas is out and if he was fit then Adam wouldn't be there, but we need someone good to come in in case something like this happens. Also believe we should make a move for Fernando Llorente after watching him for Bilbao, Spain and closely analyzed him against United on Thursday. We've been linked in the past but do we still have an interest? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Spurs, PSG and Manchester City. Barcelona are considering their future options which may involve a move for the player.}

Everyone know C Adam is easily upset. Tackle him hard, get at him and he will all over the place and won't track back

What ed02 was trying to say is, city, barca,psg and even spurs are a better option to him than liverpool
just making his point clear
thank me later
DJ {Ed002's Note - No, what Ed002 was saying is that he is of interest to those clubs. I did not give any opinion on whether or not they would be a better option for him.}

Yer not wrong there, after that piss-poor performance (pardon my french) i was lookin @ gettin me oul 'Patrick' boots out of the wardrobe & givin Kenny a call... whatever happened to the Adam that played so well for Blackpool & @ least could HIT the target.... no desire today till it was waaaaaaaay too late, mirrors should be looked at by a lot of the players! Very disappointed (again!)

We'll be lucky anyone wants to join us ! The look where we were last year is going to backfire soon the way we are going !!!!!!!!!

I thought the question was are we interested and not who is {Ed002's Note - If Liverpool are not listed, then there is no known interest. Would you rather just "yes" or "no" answers.}

Something definitely has gone wrong! 100 million spent, and still behind Newcastle. Arsenal lost their top two players and have gone past us. The worst season for Chelsea, still above us and Spurs have become an unbeatable side. Have we effectively become a mid table club? Who shud be blamed? may be the fans who wanted to see some real good signings last summer not just over priced over hyped below average british talents.

I am sorry lads but as a neutral I think you have got to look at Kenny being the problem.
All this racist crap.
Jordan Henderson.
Andy Carrol.
Charley Adam.
Shocking.

Sorry about earlier Ed002. The frustrations of this season are just compiling and I feel there is more to come before the season is over. I feel we could have gotten players of the same quality we have now for much cheaper back in the summer. {Ed002's Note - No problems.}

Agree with the last poster had this been rafa Benitez or any other manager who signed these players serious question would be asked I don't believe kenny has the eye for players

Grand... blame the manager if ya want, but there's a fundamental problem here too.. the named players above were bought on (perceived) performances for their previous clubs... so what's happened, have they ALL become crap overnight? Or, wait don't tell me... did/do Blackpool or Newcastle et al have better squads or systems than the Pool? Makes you wonder, but WHO crosses that white line @ kick-off! Rant over....

My Word is Adam a crap player or what. The only player who gets my vote today was Jordan Henderson. He for me was LFC's man of the match. If it wasnt for him we wouldnt even have half the chances we had. How can a team without a beast in midfield(cattermole) and a good playmaker(Ssesgnon, sorry for spelling) beat us with a full squad bar Agger and Lucas. I mean if we really are LFC, then we should have a squad big enough to still maintain a challenge be it for a top 4 spot or even say the title(that is when the season began).

What kills me most is that teams like Chelsea knew at the beginning of this season that they will be in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and Champions League along with the fight for the BPL title while we on the other hand just had to get our balance right as we were only in Carling Cup and FA Cup and BPL title charge and yet we are still below them? The same applies to City, Man Utd, Tottenham, Arsenal.

The problem behind us this season has been the lack of a natural finisher, but the root of this problem has been one man and thats Kenny. Fair enough, Kenny got us out of trouble last season, but thats it. We hired him just to bail us out of relegation, not to win a title. It was a simple matter of the owners getting swayed by how he was the "legend", the "real deal" back in the days.

My lord, what club hires a person to manage a club fully knowing the person hasnt been in management for what, 16-18 years??.
I knew we made a mistake by offering him a contract, i was hoping we would get AVB as i know he might be young but i feel that LFC suit his style of play. On a whole, in the 21st century, isnt it amazing how UK born managers have failed at managing LFC??. Roy was a failiure and now so is Dalglish. Look at Benitez, he won as CL when he was relatively not very well known. I feel AVB would have steered us to a CL spot.
If Dalglish said that "CL was the top priority" this season then why play strong squads in the cups??. Why couldnt he sacrifice both cups for the CL spot finish??. Because a good manager sets out his priorities and sticks by them.

Look at Tottenham Hotspurs for example, Harry Redknapp said that his top priority was "getting back into the CL", forget Europa League or any other cup. Apparently, they suffered a minor blip at Arsenal, Man Utd but still they are good enough for 3rd and Redknapp can also take the added joy that they are in the FA Cup quarters, but the point is they maintained their "top priority", or are on the verge of doing so.

As much as they are "kind" with their wealth, we should have been bought by USA based owners who see us soccer clubs just as "business". Do the owners of Barcelona see them as business??. NO, they see them as a club who they can mould into the greatest club in the history of soccer(in due time)) by injecting the cash required by the manager to buy quality players, supporting the club through its toughest times and enjoying the success of the club, and making the tough calls i.e. replacing the manager if the performance is not good or bad conduct etc but before hand to have a manager who knows the art of managing having been managing continuously and not some Grandpa who has resurrected from the dead after 16 years.
Im sorry ED's for this long post and i know it has no relation to the original post but please do post it as it is important us LFC fans get together and remove the problem that should have been there at all at the beginning of the season. KENNY DALGLISH!!.
Btw, he just got Carling Cup so that if in the event he was told to leave or sacked, he would tell the fans, "atleast i was able to get you into europe"....

Either our new recruits are not good enough, or the management has been poor. if the owners do not react after a disappointing finish at number 6/7 i wud seriously doubt their sincere interest and appetite for big achievements.

I don't think Kenny and Steve Clarke are the problem I think it's the players. They haven't clicked and learned to play as a team.

Adam started off well and has gone downhill rapidly.

Downing hasn't done anything to convince me that he is worthy to play for LFC.

Henderson can pack his bags now as far as I am concerned.

Carroll has been a waste of money. He doesn't look interested and looks very slow and laboured.

The only player that has deliverd, for me anyway, since the summer has been Enrique.

When Kenny came back the whole team played really well. Then he signed the players in the summer and the team has gone backwards ever since. Individually they might have been good at their previous clubs but they just aren't doing it in this Liverpool team.

Upfront we are toothless, our current goal difference is +4. For any team that is a shambles.

Our midfield looks out of touch with the rest of the team and tired. Our wingers are poor and very rarely whip the ball in. When they do our lazy number 9 isn't there as he is out of shape.

Defence is OK. When we have a settled back 4 we are solid but we do get an injury or 2. Reina is making the odd mistake but he is a great keeper.

In the summer we need to get in a proven goal scorer, 2 wingers and a midfielder. Whether or not we will let any players go is another matter.

If we don't sign any new players then expect this dross to continue.

hey edd1 , when do you think we will hear if anfeild is getting redevolped or not and what do you think what will happen?
frankyscouse {Ed001's Note - I have no idea, it might be a while now, it is not the straightforward process it should be.}

The club recently held a meeting club with 8 people who are regular and large corporate contributees. They were invited to attend this meeting for views and feelings on some of the club proposals that they a looking to go forward with. One was a firm note to redevelop the existing stadium.

Have you heard anything at all on the delay ed ?
Is it planning issues, finances, existing property owners / occupiers ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - We no nothing more than has been said.}

May as well stay as we are never fill a 70k stadium with this team !

10 Mar 2012 14:43:58
Any interest in Klaas Jan Huntelaar? He had a great record with Suarez and it seems his record has improved since going to Germany. {Ed002's Note - None from Liverpool that we are aware of, but I understand he is open to hearing any offers made to Schalke, but they certainly do not want to sell as it is going well for him in Gelsenkirchen.}

10 Mar 2012 13:47:11
hi eds, a while back it was mentioned that LFC had an interest in walcott,was this a genuine interest ? and in your opinion would walcott and arsenal be interested ? also is there still interest in gastron ramirez ? thanks ant {Ed002's Note - I don't know that there was any serious interest in Walcott. Whilst Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool I remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club. A move to Sevilla, Palermo or Juventus, who have made a firm offer, is also possible - although unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested. He was available in January for about 15M euro and his agent was looking for a signing on fee for the player as well.}

Hey ed's this is not a rumour just a thought that is it possible we could buy g.sigurddson ? He is a very good player and a set piece expert 7 mil would be enough.- mihir {Ed002's Note - Swansea are keen to take Sigurdsson on a permanent deal from Hoffenheim but face opposition from PSV, Zenit and, reportedly, Juventus. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool and I really don't see another central midfield player a priority. I suspect an argument could be made that Adam does eveything Sigurdsson does.}.

Only thing gilfi has that adam doesnt is better movement an pace good player tho an can take a pen lol.

belfast red adam

Gylfi has more pace and is more comfortable with ball at his feet than Adam but we have alot of midfielders already and he would demand alot of playing time if he were to come to Liverpool. That's why he as at Swansea. Rodgers use to manage him at Reading and probably promised he would not be sitting on the bench.

ChinUp

Charlie Adam is rubbish. After seeing our game against Sunderland, i am sure that Adam is rubbish. Sigurdson has done in 5 games what Adam has been trying to do since he came to Liverpool...I would take Sigurdson but i don't think he will come...

What does Adam actually offer?

eds What do you think of these players out of contract in the summer. Douglas (FC Twente) as Carra is getting on a bit and Coates has yet to live up to it. And could you just run an eye over Kelvin of porto could be next brazilian star, still young could go straight into the reserves. {Ed001's Note - I would rather give Coates and Wisdom a chance to back up Agger and Skrtel. I am not sure we need to buy a player for the reserves either, seems a bit pointless when we have enough young players already at the club.}

It's also a little bit unfair on Danny Wilson cos whenever he's played he's been thrown on as a left back. I'm sure if he gets a chance to Olay in the centre he will prove to be class

Completely agree with Ed001. I think Coates will be a fine defender when settled. Wisdom has tremendous potential, they both deserve the opportunity to show what they can do.

Richards {Ed002's Note - And much is expected of Kelly and Wilson.}

Coates hardly gets playing time, you can't say he hasn't lived upto expectations though I do agree in what your saying partly mate {Ed002's Note - He is young and has to settle, get used to Living in a very different culture, learn the language etc..}

I dont think its piontless in looking at young players for the reserves, kelvin could double in value in a short space of time. Aren't we interested in Lucas M and how much is he going to cost?? {Ed002's Note - If it is Lucas Moura you are referring to he will cost a great deal.}

I am a strong believer in Kenny Danglish and Liverpool FC but I think now that CL Football next season is off the cards.

Do you think we still have a chance of getting Edison Cavani. if Suarez stays - What a great partnership they would form.

What would you make of our chances of getting Cavani, with Andy Carroll leaving the club,

Cheers - Great site!

I think the only chance of getting cavani is if Suarez stays if any

Sry but I agree with ed002, we won't be getting cavani guys as much as I would hate to admit it.

You say your a believer in kenny and lfc, yet you right us off with 36 points still to play for?!!

Yeah, I agree! There both good friends and both from uraguay, abs we gave Coates if that helps at all ;)

KD will finish 7th.

Think the point that their both from uruguay is pathetic! if that's the case arsenal should sign all the germans, united all the portugal players, spurs all the brazilian etc etc, think most need to stop pretending the cavani's, erikson's, hazard's, muniain's & llorente's won't be joining any time soon.

Not saying all uraguyain Players but surley Suarez and Coates could

Its not pathetic, it definatley has an influence clubs often buy players to please other players and help them settle better. Madrid are a prime example of doing this. Eg ozil and khadira togethor, then sahin and altintop the year after. All the dutch players they bought a few years back aswell. {Ed002's Note - So you think that Liverpool would spend more than £40M that they don't have to buy Cavani to keep Coates happy. Interesting.}

Not saying we will buy him. buy to be fair we have a lot more money then 40 million. a lot more. {Ed002's Note - I think someone may have misled you a little over the money available.}

FSG is a wealthy business. no arabian business but we still have money! {Ed002's Note - FSG is a group of investors and one of those investments is Liverpool. Liverpool are running at a loss and FSG are propping the club up financially.}

I feel the team has gone backwards and 7th is as high as we will finish this season. Dagger's buys have not worked in general.

10 Mar 2012 00:18:54
Hey Eds, are Liverpool interested in any of these 3 strikers, Cavani, Huntelaar and Luuk de jong. Thanks {Ed001's Note - yes, De Jong as has been mentioned countless times on these pages now.}

Good thing we are all thinking De jong then! ed001 do you rate the player? as we all know he is you and versatile in RW/ST {Ed001's Note - the more I have watched him, the more I have liked his play, first few times I saw him he looked a bit sluggish and I was worried. But he has shown that first impression was wrong, he is strong in the air too. I have to admit he is growing on me as an option to sign.}

Bent will join

This im my reply to my question on how you rate him.

he has scored more goals than Van persie at THAT AGE in all competitiojns (Ned cup, eridivise europa UCL etc)
i think he would be a god signing for anyone who gets him. plus he wants to come to the premier league. i would be very dissapointed if we do not go for him in the summer. i would prefer before euro's aswell.
