Aguero will sign for Man City, there the only one's that would pay his wages, he'll be a replacement for Tevez who's off to Italy. Prob one of the huge signings Harry Redknapp was talking about.

Hey guys,

Heard a few things from my source today. Firstly very sad news Gerard Houllier will retire for definate at the end of the season due to health problems! The guy is a legend in my eyes!

Secondly, Elia is our number 1 target for the left wing! He was close to joining in January but with the whole Torres saga the deal could not be completed!
Also a deal for Phil Jones and Jose Enrique has been more or else agreed. We will not go after a 4th striker in the summer as Kuyt will be used as backup.

Liverpool have no links with Aguero(he would have to be on 250k a week in this country with our tax system), Mata, Navas or Sanchez.

And btw feel really sorry for Ed002 will people stop asking for the Eds opinion when it's been answered hundreds of times!

LFC reps headed by DC, will fly to Spain next week to have talks with Karim Benzema and Juan Mata and their respective clubs, Real Madrid and Valencia.

Also Ashley Young, Gary Cahill, Charlie Adam and Jose Enrique are all but done.

Gary Cahill is 100% signing, i have gone to william hill today and placed £50 on it. Being a unemployed chap this was a calculated risk based on it being 100%

Ed have heard a lot of rumours that we have agreed a fee with Valencia for Juan Mata . . . Is this true or have we even contacted Valencia ? Cheers mate. {Ed002's Note - Valencia may be preparing for life after Mata. Although there is no known solid interest at the moment, it would not be entirely out of the question that the club could move for the player. If pressed to name a possible surprise signing I would probably suggest Mata.}

- - - -

do you think he'd want a move to us ed? and would we be able to fend off other clubs? cheers matey

{Ed002's Note - Possibly. Being out of the Champions League will not help the cause, but in the long-term it could prove to be a good move for the player whilst providing vulable funds for Valencia.}

Ok Ed the question is do you think we will sign him? thanks,

{Ed002's Note - Please refer to my original note: "it would not be entirely out of the question that the club could move for the player. If pressed to name a possible surprise signing I would probably suggest Mata." At present there seems to be no confirmed interest in the player, only rumours in the press. If pushed I will have to say no, but I would rather not speculate on such matters.}

The 1 person i know will be signing for lfc is stewy downing 100% i know this coz my neighbour knows him he knew about torres going to chelsea and adam johnson going to city before it happened

If he knew Downing then why did he know about Johnson to City and Torres to Chelsea?

I would like Downing to join though, he would be a good addition to the squad.

Lverpool have enquired about two young European talents but have been told both are not for sale. We will keep in touch with both clubs as these two players are seen as the future for Liverpool but know they face competition for these youngsters from many top clubs. The players are Mario Goetze of Dortmund and Iker Muniain of Bilbao. Personally I think Muniain is more likely than Goetze to sign but would love to see both at Anfield next season.

I think dzudsak and toivenen could be really good additions to the team, dzudsack especially has excellent stats for a winger. Any thoughts?

10 May 2011 20:45:03
Liverpool's pursuit of a new left back is well documented and Arsenal contract rebel Gael Clichy may be the most likely signing.

do you think this is true ? how likely is it this will happen ?

What i've heard on theeuro football blogs is we are defo looking at Negrado a good solid striker, Mata on his way out of Valencia, a few others maybe in the frame for Mata but i think with our form of late & backing of the owners we could bag him.
Others are N'Zogbia, good squad adition down the left. Adam Johnson, wants regular games, would blossom even further under Kenny.
We have a good youth squad who will come to the fore next season. We will defo be a force to reckon with, even now we can beat any premier side with Kenny bringing his style of play back on the training ground & games.

rumours really gathering pace about alonso coming back. ed, what's your thoughts? {Ed001's Note - there is a possibility he could leave Madrid, Sahin is a long term replacement, but it will probably be Gago and Diarra leaving this summer and him staying until next summer.}

Juan Mata will be our biggest signing. No fee or terms have been agreed or have we even began advanced negotiations, but we have declared a interest in him. Valencia are willing to sell too.

We have also declared a interest in Moussa Sissoko but this will probably be the first of the transfers we do. Toulouse have told Liverpool there willing to sell too.

Jose Enrique looks like he will be along with Sissoko one of our first signings too. Phil Thompson has said to that he believes a deal has been done. I know personally Thommo is still a popular face at Anfield and visits a lot. So he is in the know.

Charlie Adam looks more and more everyday unlikely to sign but I wouldn't rule this one out still. We will have to see what happens with Aquilani and Poulson.

I personally think we will sign Ricky Van Wolfsfinkel too near the end of the transfer window.

His wages are very high and it seems unlikely Liverpool would be willing to spend that much on just one player.}

the rumour i have heard is that we are getting KAKA as he is fed up not playing all the time at Real

*******************************
He's not playing because he can't adapt to the pace of the Primera Liga! ! If he's finding the pace too fast in Spain I don't think he'll be a huge hit in the Premier League with the pace and physicality. . I think he'll go back to Italy or Brazil IMO.

Ed, Allot of clubs are interested in Hazard but not willing to make a bid. Why don't Liverpool quickly make a bid while other clubs main attention is on Sanchez. Liverpool can interest him by offering alot of game time and signings such as Kenny, Mata(maybe) and Sissoko who could join the club.
Hazard wants game time which he will never get with ManU, ManC, Chelsea and Arsenal(wouldn't pay 25mil+ anyway).

Hi eds,
the potential transfers of young and mata depend on a number of factors. in respect to mata, three clubs are chasing him, being the two manchester clubs and ourselves. however, if city suceed in their quest to sign sanchez they will pull out of a potential move. this is a similar story in the other half of manchester, if united sign young they will not move for mata. this leaves liverpool in precarious postion, however it does mean will should sign either mata or young in the summer, but it is dependent on other clubs. it is well reported that valancia have monetary problems and are willing to sell, and young is believed to be pushing for a move to a larger club to highten his chances of building on his fledgling england career.
is this about right ed's? {Ed002's Note - Valencia may be preparing for life after Mata. To put the Young rumours in perspective. .

Gary Mcallister say's of young (report 06/ 05/ 2011)

He said: "All players have ambition to play in the Champions League.

"We can't give them that. It's a goal but we all know how difficult it is to get up there.

"You can always understand the lure of playing in that competition. ."

I know this is not a rumour but it does tell you something about the dicussions going on in private at Villa. Champions League is not really in our radar for most people (Although, I never give up believing!)

Heard that we are on the brink of getting permission to start talks with Xabi Alonso. Also Kenny wants to bring back Michael Owen, yes him. This will make some waves I'm sure. But I would like that, personally speaking.

On another personal note, I would love to see Welliton (Spartak Moscow) coming here (I didn't get this from my source, it's just IMO). Ed, confirm the above rumors? and what do you think of Welliton?

Afternoon fellow Red!
As I reported last week, I expect us to sign Juan Mata. Reports have surfaced today that back this up.

Moussa Sissoko is in talks with the Club.

Finally, I expect us to announce the permanent appointment of Kenny against the Spuds on Sunday.

My list of players I expect to sign still stands too.

A striker is coming in to compete with Suarez and Carroll. Dalglish believes that it will make them fight harder and create a winning team that way.

Jose Enrique is basically set.

There will be one player coming from Madrid whether it be Real or Athletico I do not know. I have been told that Damien Comolli has been in Madrid a lot in recent weeks.

Also, I have heard Dalglish is very confident in the signing of Ashley Young and Adam Johnson.

More news to come.

Eds, heard from a mate who is usually on the ball that the Reds are looking at Santi Cazorla. Any truth in this?

I feel we're only a few decent signings away from something glorious. A. Johnson, sissoko, clichy, payet and Dann would do nicely. What would that cost, about 60m? With a few on their way out the overall spend would be around 25-30m. King Kenny to bring in number 19, 20 & 21.

my man in the know has told us at the 19th green that KD's remarkable return to the helm has put the board in an awkward position.
Apparently kenny's return was originally seen as a stop gap - steady ship and get fans back on side following falling attendances during Hodgsons reign.
The board were very optimistic of landing Boas from Porto or even tempting Mourinho from Real (who are still tracking Rafa). They never believed for one minute that Kenny would transform things so quickly. They know that failure to give the job to KD now would cause a major backlash from fans and a deal is now imminent though Kenny is not there ideal choice long term.
please post in rumours Ed - have u heard anything similar Ed?

Robkop {Ed001's Note - sort of, I heard that they were reluctant to get rid of Roy and give Kenny the job because they knew it would not be a stop gap. Once he was in charge they knew there would be no choice but to make it a permanent job unless the team was relegated.}

Anyone else think shelvey played excellent last night? I'd like to give Cole a bit of time but at those wages you have to think we'd be better getting shut of him. I'd also like to see Aqua back, i didn't think he had a bad first season (considering his injury problems and the state of the club at the time). This sort of makes all the Centre mid talk null to me, KK isn't going to be wanting to spend more money when it's the only area we've got depth.

We lack width to an extent but we're not going to be held to ransom for anyone. After seeing Skrtel last night i'm pretty convinced we need a replacement but as far as left backs are concerned i think we've really landed on our feet with regards to the young lads.

Another striker would be nice but all this talk of Benzema and Aguero is nonsense, we'll be after someone who won't mind being in a rotation system.

Ed, do you think there's really no chance of us getting Arda Turan now? I would be over the moon if he signed, we also have a history of signing players no one saw coming. . _

{Ed002's Note - It is not that there is no chance of Arda, it is that Liverpool have not shown any interest. He looks Atletico Madrid bound. Talks have been going on for a while and he will move this summer. Dortmund apparently, remain interested but Villarreal have dropped any interest that they had. Spurs have dipped their toe in the water over the player and I suspect Valencia are keeping a watchful eye on matters. I am surprised that Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

10 May 2011 13:32:25
Quick question to the Eds on Benzema.

I've just read that Arsenal are considering a bid for him and I know that he's been linked with us also. Real are apparently considering selling.

If this is the case, is there not a chance that Man U might make a bid? - he was highly regarded by Ferguson when with Lyon and I'm sure they enquired several times. With the rumours about Berbatov leaving, wouldn't that leave a perfect space for him?

I may be adding 2+2 together and coming up with 5, but I would think that this would be an obvious move. What do you think? - have you heard anything?

Parma Violet {Ed002's Note - It is possible that Manchester United will bid, but I do not know of any interest.}

Ed if results did go are way and we got fourth would we be able to attract the likes of sanchez etc or would they still not be interested.DORSET RED

CB ? Just a thought but i wonder why we're not looking at Christopher Samba (27) from Blackburn who has been immense this year, he's very strong and reads the game well. Him and Gary Cahill would be awesome for LFC.

With Agger fragile and Soto not the ideal CB and Carra getting older

Hi ed's I think it was ed 001 who mentioned moussa sissoko I think it was being a possibility and ilhe think he will be wearing a red top next season or along those lines. . just read an article about us man utd and tottenham being after him. . do other eds think he will be playing with us next season ad well? Cheers

{Ed002's Note - It was me who mentioned it and I think there is a good chance that he will. Certainly Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard. Aside from strong interest from Juventus and AC Milan, Genoa Marseille and probably Napoli are also interested. I do not know of any firm interest from Manchester United or Spurs.}

Ed would valencia accept 35-40m for mata and hernandez now that's two wingers who i would love either side of suarez.DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - The value is about right but I don't see Valencia wanting to sell Hernandez and I cannot see why he would want to make the move from Spain. I am also not sure that Liverpool will eb looking to spend that sort of amount of money on two wingers with other players needing to come in as well.}

Was drinking with a journo from The Echo last night and, although tight-lipped (and tight fisted) he did reveal that Enrique is a done deal (worst kept secret in L4).

Although relations between KK and Comolli are cordial there has been a dispute about the potential transfer of Marveaux, who is a DC target.

KK is keen to bring in British players, especially Celts to mirror the great sides of the 80s, but is having second thoughts about Adam, not based on ability, but rather that the emergence of Spearing alongside Lucas and Gerrard makes an Adam type player less important. Someone might come in depending on the Aquilani situation, but it looks extremely remote that he will return.

He is looking for a winger who can also play more centrally in a flexible system, and the name might prove to be a surprise.

That's all that I could get out of him, though the hierarchy is also keen to cash in on Cole . . No huge surprises, sorry . .

Heard that we have been look at Adebayor on loan for next season with view to a permament transfer. City want him off their books and we are willing to take a punt on a player who is proven in the Premier League.

Morning to all reds. first of all king kenny will be named manger after the spurs game on sunday. as for players coming and going. 3 players have already agreed to come in the summer. adams, enrique, marveaux. as for konchesky. lfc would like him to go to newcastle to knock off some of the fee for enrique but there is talk that roy wants him at west brom. as for aquilani it is said that kenny wants him back as he rates him very highly and sees him as another option.there are 7 players leaving the first team and there will be 8 players coming in. witch 3 off them will be wingers. as for a foward they are looking at calton cole, gomez and one or two others. cahill, jones are being looked at but lfc won't pay over the odds. as for maxi he will be staying and joe cole wants to stay. it has been said that king kenny, steve clark want him to stay.

I'd love see just 2 signings of Juan Mata and a left back, Gael Clichy rumours doing the rounds this morning. But also the return of Aquilani.
With that squad I think we could challenge. We don't need a big overhaul, we've got the squad there, and the young boys coming up, and Kenny's seems to know the secret to making them all perform. Unbelievable performance last night!

Valencia's Jordi Alda has turned down a move to Liverpool.

Also, Liverpool target Yann M'Vila has been quoted as saying he'll 100% be at Rennes next season. We've turned our attention to Blaise Matuidi.

Any rumours of Benzema joining are seemingly unfounded, he has been linked with Arsenal today.

Just imagine what a force we would be if fernando llorente was signed, instead in of andy carrol but can't have them all lol if we had to buy another striker in the summer hope its him pefer him over aguero.

Saurez is just as good as aguero we don't need him.

Andy Carroll will be amazing you wait and see. .Not all class players make it here, remember Fernando Morientes? one of the best strikers in the world when we signed him. .Carroll has premier league experience and has proved he can score goals. .And maybe we don't need Aguero, but damn i would love this player to sign, i can't believe you would have Llorente over Aguero. Could you imagine the damage Suarez and Aguero would cause to other defence's? you could play Suarez and Aguero just behind Carroll, my God i'm starting to dribble. .

Morning Ed, this has probably been asked before but I can't find the answer going through the archives, when does the transfer window officially open is it after the last game or start of June or start or July ? Is the "official start date" for all of Europe ?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Each FA decides the date that their transfer window opens. In England and Wales it is after the last game of the season - but that only applies for transfers between clubs who are members of the same FA. For International transfers I think the window will open on July 1.}

Don't expect to see forlan coming to LFC, although financially he would fit the bill, it is more likely that LFC staff will look into his very patchy relationship with Luis Suarez that has been heavily publicised over the years.

Seriously everyone stop worrying about the lack of Kenny being confirmed as the manager full time, as I said last night Gerrard's grin when he was asked about it said it all, its a done deal already. There is a reason for delaying the announcement, I just haven't quite figured out why yet? Any ideas Eds?

Scarface {Ed002's Note - We know: (a) Damien Comolli's job includes finding a new manager; (b) that the job is probably there for the taking by Kenny Dalglish if he wants it and if a deal can be agreed; (c) that talks have taken place between the board and Dalglish; (d) that he is already contracted to the end of the season and he is not going to walk out; and (e) he is concentrating on getting the right results on the field rather than distracting himself and others with contract negotiations.}

liverpool to sign just 3 this summer.
cahill (with shelvey going on loan to bolton), charlie adam, and juan mata.
kenny feels flanagan robinson and kelly can fill the defence therefore only one defender to come in. lucas and spearing now playin well only 1 one midfeilder to come in. And mata to play in a 3 man attack with carroll and suarez

OK, stop with the ridiculous rumours regarding the likes of sanchez and aguero to name a few, do we want to be another man citeh or do we want to be liverpool???. Here is a list of the most likely players to join:
- Barton (like it or not the lad is a good player and people can and often do get their s**t together off the pitch, worth the gamble i think)
- Jarvis
- Downing
- Adam (regardless of how he is playing at this stage of his career, scouting players is about spotting potential, not spotting what everybody can already see, same goes for Jarvis)
- Wickham (refer to my comments about Adam and Jarvis)
- Simon Kjaer (CB not such a high priority as kelly will move back there and Agger is expected to be fit after full injury free offseason with current medical staff, and Danny Wilson is expected to make alot more appearances)
- as for a LB i can honestly say i have no concrete news on who targets may be, but expect experience

So lets get behind Sir Kenny Dalglish and trust his judgement on realising the potential of the players that HE has mentioned. Not who the fans have mentioned.

Peace.

Jose Enrique is basically set. Kenny Dalglish wants another striker and an attacking midfielder to compete with Suarez and Caroll. He said this is to make them fight as a team. The names mentioned are:

Conor Wickham.
Benzema.
Lukaku.
Forlan.

There will DEFINATELY be someone coming from Madrid whether it be Real or Athletico as Damien Comolli has been in Madrid a lot in recent weeks.

More to come.

Hi Eds

Love the site, doing a great job.

What do you think Liverpool will do with Maxi? He is in great form at the moment however i feel that 90k per week doesn't really fit into the plans given he is still a squad player. I also feel that given his form we will get a few million more for him now rather than giving him another season primarily on the bench. What are your thoughts?

Also aside from the youngsters in the squad currently who do you expect to see getting first team action next year all things considered?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what the plans are with Maxi nor the structure of his wages. It is likely that his wages include an element of signing on fee so that may have to be paid back to the player on completion of any sale, so don't expect a profit from him. As for teh youngsters, a few could go on loan.}

10 May 2011 07:21:49
ed do you believe that if liverpool bidded for fabio coentrao they could get him, and is there still any chance cheers bud. {Ed002's Note - I refer to all previous answers about Coentrao.}

There is a massive chance that we will get Melo from Juve, as a swap for Aqua . . we have to just listen to them moaning about the fee and then make an official stmt of intent to sell on Melo. He would be a great addition to our defence mid. However lets remember that we back to the old ways and things will be announced in good time. {Ed002's Note - After Sunday Liverpool will be able to see Aquilani to whoever they want.}

Hey ed, whats the chances of us signing alex chamberlain? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest so perhaps slim.}

- - - - -

My colleague is a friend of Alex and i asked him to ask him, what his intentions would be for next season if an EPL club was serious for him. He loves his life in Southampton and loves the fans. he is a modest lad and very family orientated. He says he does not want to move clubs for the foreseeable future and definitely wouldn't want to move up north. But as you would imagine if/when his career really takes off and when hes a little older he might want a big money move for an England call up, major honours etc. But my money is on him staying put for at least one more year. Loaned back or not.
