Meireles has expressed his desire to stay at Liverpool. Do you think he will stay Ed? {Ed002's Note - I don't know anything of that and I expect a move to Italy beckons.}

11 Jul 2011 23:35:58
Lyon are looking for replacements for Liverpool-bound Aly Cissokho. Bordeaux left back Benedict Tremoulinas is the current favourite. (France Football)

A decently reliable source has told me we have inquired about longtime United target Ninis. I don't think it has legs, but wanted to pass it along.

11 Jul 2011 23:05:54
eds do you think there is a chance we are looking at bastos for left back? he can also play right wing so i think we could still sign him along with downing, i would also like to see aquaman staying this season think kenny s style of play would suit him perfectly why are you all so certain he will leave
cheers eds, great site

the freshmaker {Ed009's Note - Aquilani is being hawked to every Italian club around and Fiorentina are interested at this time. I too like the player but it just isn't going to work out. I hope we aren't looking at Bastos for left back, that position should always be primarily about defending in my opinion. Ideally the player would rather join Juventus too, or a club in London, so i see the move a little unlikely. Cissokho is a viable - and brilliant - option.}

HEARD FROM MY SOURCE THAT DOWNING WILL BE AT MELWOOD FOR MEDICAL AND PERSONAL TERMS ON WEDNESDAY
THANKS

11 Jul 2011 22:41:52
Hi ed, do you think with woodgate joint Stoke and Liverpool in the Market for CB that Ryan shawcross could be a possible target? fits the critera for LFC {Ed009's Note - he isn't good enough for us and would cost too much. Kenny would appear to think the same.}

11 Jul 2011 22:30:53
SSN are reporting that Taggart thinks Nasri is off to another club, not the spam. I take it the club is City. Where will that leave a certain A Johnson & do you feel ed's we would still be interested even if/when we get Downing? {Ed002's Note - I suspect if Downing falls through then we are back to Mata or possibly N'Zogbia. I would see Adam Johnson as a RW.}

11 Jul 2011 22:30:40
hi eds

as for left back, just wondering if agger may be seen as first choice and were not really bothering? Fit... I think he could be really promising there so why bother spending over 10 mil for someone?

Gotta say i hope downing does sign soon really think hed be a great signing, wouldve preferred him over young any day myself so fingers crossed.

Thanks eds

With the imminent arrival of Downing, do you think we'll buy a RM too? I see Henderson, Kuyt & Gerrard filling that role.

Gav the RED {Ed009's Note - I think Kuyt is intended to be used as a striker next season. Gerrard could play there, because Kenny won't stand for any crap unlike Rafa did, but I think we could well see another winger if one becomes available - our pursuit of Bastos highlights that.}

11 Jul 2011 22:17:56
Hi Eds, do you know the fee for Doni? Some say that he is coming on a free transfer.. how is that possible? Is he out of contract at Roma?

ps. Keep up the good work Eds, this site has become my top source of transfer news.

-Melwood Janitor {Ed009's Note - I'm pretty sure Roma are releasing the player so he will come in on a free. A good deal if you ask me - we had to get our one free of the window.}

11 Jul 2011 22:14:11
News just coming in from a well regarded and trusted source at anfield that Downing will be a LFC player by Friday, MG

11 Jul 2011 22:06:59
hi ed, i no it has been on this website all night but r we signing downing and doni 2moro?thanks {Ed009's Note - Doni will probably do his medical tomorrow. We are very close to sealing the Downing deal but I'm not sure it will take place tomorrow.}

11 Jul 2011 22:04:55
Vertongten has been seen as a possible option as back up for Agger. Both players carry good reputations as central defenders and will compete for a first team place. Unfortionatly due to Aggers injury problems, Vertongten would probably get more playing time.

11 Jul 2011 22:04:10
Ed do you think these rumours of a fee being agreed for downing are premature? Most journalists on twitter saying that we haven't even made a 3rd bid yet {Ed009's Note - I am not sure right now whether a bid has been made, but we are very close to sealing the deal - that is all that matters really.}

11 Jul 2011 22:02:21
To everyone saying we have too many players for cm for next season the players we have at the moment are
Steven Gerrard - quite injury prone though surgery may have fixed it
Raul Meireles - for sale if the right offer comes in
Alberto Aquilani - must likely won't be here next season
Jordan Henderson - most likely to be played on the right
Lucas - our best player these last two seasons
Charlie Adam - New signing great addition to the squad
Jay Spearing - May go out on loan Christian Poulsen - will be sold
Jonjo Shelvey - may go out on loan
This leaves us with Gerrard, Adam, Lucas and Henderson in mid and with Henderson playing on the right I would keep Spearing in the squad and sign another cm. Ed, do you think we will sign another cm {Ed009's Note - we are looking at others, which surprises me, but we will only see one signed once we have secured all our other targets, if at all.}

11 Jul 2011 21:59:41
Ed been hearing we might sign pato rodriquez from independiente as the 4th stiker, come from some reliable people, have you heard of any interest? {Ed009's Note - I haven't heard of any interest I'm afraid.}

11 Jul 2011 21:55:18
Ed's have any of you heard of the Stewart Downing medical rumour due to occur tomorrow. Apparently £18.5 mil bid accepted. Heard anything? Would appreciate your response. Cheers {Ed009's Note - All I can say is that the deal is close. Its hard to get in to fees as everybody sees them differently - are add ons and future incentives included or not etc.}

11 Jul 2011 21:54:25
Can somebody explain to me if Roger Johnson is going to Wolves for a reported £7million, how the feck we are being quoted a reported £12million for Scott Danns??

Surely we all agree that Johnson is the better player of these two?

Also heard today that Liverpool are looking at making a treble swoop on Newcastle for Barton, Tiote and Enrique. You heard anything eds? I think this would be a great piece of business though I have no idea how much it would cost us.....maybe round the £25mill mark?

meJPOR014 {Ed009's Note - Dann is far better in my opinion. We will not be buying Barton.}

11 Jul 2011 21:46:28
Thanks for the follow @Ed001andonly - good to see you on there :) {Ed009's Note - follow Isaac_Ed009 for tweets that actually mean something!}

On Monday 11th July 2011, @Jack_Sear_LFC said:

Apparently, in the last 5 mins, a Villa 'ITK' has said Villa have accepted a 18.5m bid from us that could rise to 20 for Downing. Evidently he's been saying that the Downing #LFC stuff is rubbish for the whole time he's been linked with us, and now he's just come out with this. Trusted by their fans too.

11 Jul 2011 21:43:04
Hi Ed(s). Do you know where Jordan Henderson is? He isn't on the tour of Asia, so is he having his holidays now after the U21 tournament, or ...?

Cheers,
Stone YNWA. {Ed009's Note - the lad has been given a few weeks off and will join the squad at a later date. So we don't get anymore replica questions, here's the squad that travelled to Asia:

Gulacsi, Jones, Hansen, Kyrgiakos, Kelly, Ayala, Carra, Flano, Robinson, Wilson, Wisdom, Agger, Skrtel (as far as I know), Adam, Meireles, Shelvey, Spearing, Coady, Poulsen, Cole, Maxi, Pacheco, Aquilani, Ngog, Kuyt and Carroll.}

11 Jul 2011 21:41:36
Aqualani and Merellis swap for Sneijder. He's been told he can go for the right price and both these players combined fee (plus Aqualani's good season in Serie A).

Should make it attractive to Inter. {Ed009's Note - Inter have said that Sneijder won't be leaving this summer. He also demands wages in the region of 200,000 pounds. This is the same situation as Aguero so can we not have anymore, please?}

11 Jul 2011 21:32:01
just heard from reliable source that we are bidding 5 mill for titus bramble getting worried now does kenny know what he is doing carrol 35 mill donkey henderson 20 mill average adam 7 mill vaughan is better player and went on a free what is going on at this rate our squad will be worse next year when mereiles goes and we could be in trouble money wise if king kenny is throwing money around like this someone have a word with the old man i think he could be losing it {Ed009's Note - are you for real? We will not be buying Titus Shambles. Adam is a very good player and Henderson has an awful lot of potential. Carroll will be dominating teams up and down the country next season, don't worry about that.}

11 Jul 2011 21:17:12
Hi ed,

was just wondering whether there is actually a medical for Doni tomorrow. Or just usual Sky over-hype.

Jimmy {Ed009's Note - the player will be having a medical tomorrow, yes.}

11 Jul 2011 20:31:28
Any Eds i just to confirm has anybody bid anything for Joe Cole. Jonson6 {Ed002's Note - Hamburg are interested but perhaps only as a loan.}

11 Jul 2011 20:23:01
Eds, what about Emilio Izaguirre? The left full back from Celtic and Honduras. any real interest in this player? I think this lad is just as good as both Cissokho and Enrique, also the player is quick, got great stamina, have good crosses, good dribbling and is seen as just as good defensive as attacking. a typical left wing back {Ed002's Note - There has been, but I don't know of any right now.}

11 Jul 2011 19:50:08
Why not even try Alberto in the dea as well instead of any money changing hands (or maybe 5 million to Inter tops). {Ed028's Note - Sneijder is not moving this summer according to Inter}
----------

Whilst my sources are at ac milan its a fair assumption to say that as both moratti and gasperini have said sneijder is available for the right price and meireles and a couple of others are earmarked as temporary replacements until coutinho is ready.

Also to the persob that said montolivo would go to milan, , it will be hamsik that ends up at milan

Hi Ed?
Per Mertesacker admits he could leave Werder Bremen for Premier League club.
A great defender isn't it & won't be that much expensive
Any chance of LFC making a move for him? {Ed002's Note - There was interest quite a while back but don't know of any right now. Perhaps Arsenal and Spurs would have an interest.}

11 Jul 2011 19:07:14
My Source advised me there will be 5 more signing and 6 players are definitely going and 3 maybe going out the door

Jose Enrique - Newcastle have accept the offer just under £9m and waiting Jose to come back from his extended holiday and already the number 3 shirt reserve for him

Stewart Downing - Negotiation still on going but we are very closing in the Villa valuation of £16m my source said around £1m off and Downing have heart on a move to Anfield and no place else

Scott Dann - KK have said he want to long term replacement for JC and have offer Birmingham City around £12m + player (rumours could be Konchesky) more than Stoke and Arsenal £10m. Birmingham is waiting for Arsenal to make a improve offer and give a Arsenal a week deadline.

Charles N'Zogbia - Versatile can play any where down the left ideal backup for both Enrique and Downing. Wigan want £15m and we have very close the the valuation and KK want another experience player to play down the left hand side.

Ezequiel Lavezzi - My Source said Liverpool have already have £18m offer and Napoli have turn it down
Napoli want £25m but will take £20m because of the finanal problems and waiting for DC to approve. KK will see him as extention to the strike force.

5 Player to leave are
Joe Cole - have offer from several London clubs and all agree the asking price and waiting for Joe Cole to choose which club to go for

Paul Konchesky - been told he have no future at Liverpool and have several offer, like Joe Cole waiting which club to go for likely to head back to the capital

Milan Jovanovic - heading back to Belgium. free and
may have to compensate him for loss of earning. this is the only way to get rid of him.

David Ngog - kk see him very light wieght forward not strong enough. West Brom and West Ham have make a acceptable offer.

Alberto Aquilani - surplus to requirment and said he won't fancy coming back, he will be 4 choice but with no reasonable offer. We might have to bite the dust and accept any offer around £7m to £8m
Inter have already offer £8m but might offer him as part of Ezequiel Lavezzi deal

Philipp Degen - Heading back to the Bundesliga for free. He was told by Roy Hodgson that he have no future in the club and with Johnson, Kelly and Flanagan ahead of him.

Maybe going
Raul Meireles - KK prefer him to stay but may have to sacrifice to fund new signing

Maxi Rodr guez - homesick and also the signing of Jordan Henderson but KK may need him to stay one more year to cover the right side

Christian Poulsen - With one one want to pay the asking price for £0m and his wage. He staying to cover for Lucas or loan deal and part of his wage paid.

Liverpool to snap up 19yr old Danny Ings of Bournemouth, altho Lokomotiv Moskow have also bid 1.5m

Ings has expressed no interest in leaving England with Liverpool being his number one choice.

I have a Liverpool rumour which I don't think has been posted on here. I cannot be bothered to check so don't slate me if it has been posted. This is not from any newspaper or website.

I hear Liverpool will sign M'Baye Niang in the next few days.

ed do u think there would be much of a chance of getting baines?? perfect for andt carroll tanx {Ed002's Note - He was a player Manchester City were keen on before signing Clichy. Arsenal are likely to use Gibbs at left back which means if he is to be sold then Liverpool may well be an option.}

11 Jul 2011 18:49:24
SSN: Doni medical tomorrow.

11 Jul 2011 18:47:37
Ed I have heard a lot of rumours about lucas barrios as a possible striker coming in. I think he would be perfect as he gives us something different and is a realistic signing. What do you think of him ed and do you know of any interest? {Ed002's Note - He is without doubt a good player. There is no interest from Liverpool that I know of and I suspect it unlikely to be interested in moving from Dortmund to Liverpool. Rubin Kazan and Lazio have made failed bids in the past.}

11 Jul 2011 18:40:03

Liverpool to sign downing for 19 million by Thursday. Trust me.

11 Jul 2011 17:33:08
Ed, have you heard anything about Cissokho? Why wouldn't we sign this guy, he's 23, solves a problem position, is incredibly pacey, is an absolute beast, and can cross as well - and he'd cost under 20 million. If we're not in for him I don't understand why not

Red Ollie {Ed002's Note - Liverpool do have an interest and he has been discussed extensively over the past few days. You could learn a lot by reading those posts and with the nifty search utility it should not take long.}

11 Jul 2011 17:18:27
Evening eds everyone, just got back from Zante heard we signed Adam 7 million is that right alot of talk on downing any news on that .great time but missed you guys and lfc info.cheers psv

{Ed006's Note - Its true about Adam, Downing could be done soon.}

11 Jul 2011 17:16:58
My source has been piping up again, he says that which left-back we go for is dependent on which winger we sign. If we get Downing we will be happy to go for a left-back who doesn't have the best cross, like Cissokho. If we don't, and get a dribbler like Mata instead, we'll want a left-back who can cross, such as Enrique. We are though, pretty happy to let the left-wing saga run for the entire window and not sign a left-back, due to the youngsters coming through at the moment. Personally I'd like a left-back, and I'd rather have Downing and Cissokho than Mata and Enrique. But if we don't get a left-back it will be no disaster

11 Jul 2011 17:09:12
Rumors today;
1)Valencia said Juan Mata not for sale. Ed, you think we still go for Mata if we get Downing? Joe Cole seems like to prove himself another season at LFC and besides, he looks fit in pre-season. Think KD will sell him?

2)Brest reject Shalke bid for Nolan Roux. Think we still got a chance to sign him as backup striker?

3)Baines without a doubt is KD 1st choice for Leftback. Think this will happen? Everton summer transfer still not moving maybe because lack of fund. Ed, you think LFC will break a bank and sign Baines for 20M?

dtg-LFC {Ed002's Note - (1) No I really don't think so. (2) I expect Roux will go to Shalke. (3) I disagree about him being first choice. I have no idea if the club will bid £20M plus for Baines or not - I suspect not.}

11 Jul 2011 16:51:36
LFC should increase efforts to get Baines and Dann if they can.
These two players will solve problem areas, both are young and support LFC. They will also blend in well with an up and coming young generation of talented footballers breaking through at Anfield.
The experience they have obtained from playing with their current clubs make them ready made options for LFC.

11 Jul 2011 16:04:32
ed, with wisdom given then number 19 shirt, does that mean we're no longer looking for a CB? {Ed002's Note - There is no way to tell from the shirt numbers. Sorry.}

11 Jul 2011 15:57:42
With Roger Johnson of Birmingham having a medical at Wolves, do you think that lessens the chances of Dann leaving as well?
Jimbo {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

11 Jul 2011 15:23:59
Just thought i'd offer my opinion on Baines to Liverpool issue, He is in no way England's best left back let alone a world class left back, He struggles massively against both pace and power, i watched as mediocre wingers have a heyday against him. Baines has two assets to his game, outstanding delivery from crossing, and set-pieces. Now in a team such as Everton you can get away with having such poor defensive ability, but at a club the stature of Liverpool, you don't stand a chance. I for one would want my left back to be able to defend before i even consider his attacking ability. I don't particularly like Ashley Cole but his defensive ability is on another level to Baines, please KK don't buy a future Bjornebye.

11 Jul 2011 15:05:21
Ed, its very difficult to put a figure on the amount of money KK has at his disposal for transfers. I expect that within reason if the right player is available at the right price the owners will make the funds available to KK for such a signing. Aguero however is a none starter. We already Suarez and Carrolland so £45m plus huge wages on a third striker makes no sense whatsoever when you consider the squad's short comings which KK is trying to rectify as a priority. Under D Moores we used to spend around 15m net on transfers each summer. As we now have no meaningful debt and vastly improved income from sponsorship (though admittedly higher wages), I would wildly guess that even without CL football we could spend £20-25m net before the owners have to fork out some money from their own pockets. We have so far spent around £20m on Henderson and Adam. If we can move on some players who can actually bring in a fee such as Ngog, Meireles (controversial but likely), Aquilani and Konchesky this would conservatively give KK another £25m in transfer funds before the owners would have to put their hands into their pocket. In practice of course they may fund Downing's fees and further transfers and then recoup some of their outlay as and when the deadwood is sold off. What I am getting at is that if, and its a big if, we can shift the deadwood as well as a left winger and left back KK would have funds to make 1 or 2 additional meaningful acquisitions to address areas in the squad which are less of a priority but still need strengthening for example a centre half (Dann?) and an additional striker. Reality Red

11 Jul 2011 14:49:13
Eds, I know left wing, left back and centre half are areas where we need to strengthen but do you think it would be possible to put a cheeky bid in for DJ Campbell? A proven young striker in the EPL, fits the criteria of players sought after by FSG and the management. Just heard on SSN that he is expected to leave Blackpool this summer. Just a thought

D16Red {Ed002's Note - I have absolutely no idea. Sorry.}

11 Jul 2011 14:32:02
Valencias president says Mata not for sale this summer so that can put a end to that rumour.

11 Jul 2011 14:29:35
Question to the Eds:

You say Downing is out number 1 target, if we get him. What area will be targetting next? I assume a left back? Is there seriously any way we could get Baines? Are we even interested?

If we fail to get Downing, who else are we considering?

Hope you can answer {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to answer what comes next - perhaps LB. Perhaps Enrique, perhaps Cissokho, perhaps Baines - I really don't know. Enrique has already been subject of a bid.}

11 Jul 2011 14:13:40
Liverpool have offered Raul Meireles plus £12mil for Leighton Baines. Everton are very tempted by this offer, with Raul only on around £30,000pw, they would be willing to offer improvement on those wages. Raul is very settled in merseyside area and wants to stay in the premiership. My source is an evertonian, but I don't hold that against him.

11 Jul 2011 14:03:55
According to "Het Laatste Nieuws" Milan Jovanovic is 99% certain to be at Anderlecht next season. The only problem is that they were quoting a third party which claims that Jovo's agent had made the claim. However, HLN is a Belgian newspaper that I read regularly and they are as reliable as can be.

I hear Liverpool are lining up a 25M bid for Baines plus Konchesky...

11 Jul 2011 13:55:26
If we offered £20m for baines everton would have no choice but to take it, moyes would do wonders with £20m in his transfer kitty, and we would have in my opinion the best british leftback, also baines would be stupid not to realise that he could knock ashley cole off his england pertch if he was playing for a club like liverpool. everyones a winner

Jovanovic said that Lille is definitely an option (CL), Galatasary also offered, but he didn't decide yet.

11 Jul 2011 13:32:52
Ed, have you heard any thing regarding Park Chu-young of Monaco. Are we interested to sign him, at the moment. What do you think of our interest in him? Thanks alot... {Ed002's Note - I have for the past year been telling Liverpool fans about Park Chu-Young and have repeatedly provided updates. In summary: The club have actually looked at both him and his partner in attack, Benjamin Moukandjo. Rennes, Liverpool and PSG have all shown an interest but the player did say he wanted Champions League football. Lille have put an offer on the table as have Sevilla and Dynamo Kiev.}

11 Jul 2011 12:52:35
Eds - I know you may even hate me for making this post as this rumour was actually giving me a headache reading it every 2 minutes on here: - BUT (I'm going to do it anyway) Is there any further new on Sergio Aguero, whether it be us or any other team as the talk to all teams seems to have gone dead from all angles. Personally I'd like to see us lodge a 38M bid and be done with it... {Ed002's Note - There is interest from Manchester City now that Real Madrid have dropped out. There is no interest from Liverpool.}

11 Jul 2011 12:47:55
Reports over the weekend suggest that Arsenal have entered the race to sign Stewart Downing but Aston Villa say they have had no approach from Arsenal and the Liverpool Echo insists that Liverpool are still favourites to secure his signature.

11 Jul 2011 12:39:40
The Downing to Arsenal rumour makes no sense, the players main attribute is his incredibly accurate cross. But how many times do Arsenal whip a ball into to box they are far to busy passing it around on the edge of the 18 yard box. This is of course assuming the rumour is true at all.
Another story that keeps popping up is Aly Cissokho, no doubt a fantastic player but the £8m figure being mentioned is way off. If Lyon are to sell the player to Liverpool the fee would probably be closer to double that.

Press association have just reported that there is no interest in aqua from fiorintina (spelling).
Just when things are getting better in steps this news bummer.
On other topic my medical sources have confirmed that there are serious concerns with stev.g fitness and he may announce his international retirement before season starts to prolong his club carrier.
Good for liverpool though.
Have you heard this one from your sources.

Hey Eds,
there are reports today that Liverpool may opt out of a bidding war with Arsenal over Dowing by bidding for N'zogbia, however the price tag over N'Zogbias head seems to be as high as Downing, if we are not willing to pay the 20m for Downing then why would we target an inferior player for the same price? therefore do you think there is still intrest in N'zogbia or for that matter did we ever have a serious interest?

Ps i sincerely hope there is isn't {Ed002's Note - Downing is the number one target.}

If we were to buy Dann, Baines and Downing, to some fans they would not excite but to others, we would be a quality striker away from being considered title challengers.

Ed, I would like to know what the situation is regarding Baines. I hear Everton are currently not financially capable of making any significant improvements to their squad.

I personally see Baines as dynamic, good worth ethic, team player and his overall ability in his position could soon peak to becoming consistently word class. Do you know if Baines would consider a move to LFC? At what price would Everton be willing to sell to LFC for would they entertain £20m plus Insua? {Ed002's Note - It is guesswork but perhaps £25M. I don't know if they would want Insua.}

Lyon are close to the signing of left-back Benoit tremoulinas from Bordeaux and as soon as this is completed Liverpool will sign Aly Cissokho for 10m.

So Bastos' agent says that about 4/5 clubs are interested in his client, with two having already tested the water with the player.

Since, as the eds say, we've made a bid for the player, I'd assume that we're one of those two clubs (the other being the Italian cheapskates Juve).

So what I want to know, editor, is a) how does Bastos feel about a move to Anfield?
Is the player keen at all?
Also us, b) exactly how serious are we about him? Were a deal to be agreed, c) when do you see it being completed?

Gillies&Spencer {Ed009's Note - he would prefer a move to Turin but is willing to do what is best for Lyon. If we won the bidding war the player would be willing to move to us. I think we are relatively serious, and may well go back in with another bid, but I certainly can't answer c) as I do not know if the deal will be completed at all.}

11 Jul 2011 11:47:19
hi eds, do you think we will sign downing or mata or both? {Ed009's Note - probably Downing, Mata is possible but unlikely at this time.}

From SSN

Michel Bastos' agent has confirmed that a number of Europe's top clubs have expressed an interest in his client.

The Lyon midfielder has been linked with a move away from Ligue 1 for some time, with Serie A giants Juventus having led the chase.

Juve remain in contention to secure the Brazilian's signature, but they now face stiff competition from elsewhere.

Chelsea, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Liverpool and Tottenham are all believed to be monitoring Bastos' situation.

11 Jul 2011 11:17:29 Do you think we will sign a back up striker if David Ngog leaves or will striker if David Ngog leaves or will Dirk Kuyt fill that role and by a back up winger. Also whats the situation with Doni? {Ed009's Note - I expect Doni to travel to England in the next few days. He will almost certainly become a Liverpool player. There is a chance we could sign a striker but it is certainly not the top of our priorities, and I think we will be fine next season with Kuyt, Suarez and Carroll.} Carroll.}
-------
personally I think we need another striker for back up as if one gets injured (likely with carroll) then we won't have a back up.
Can't think who though, maybe promote morgan as 4th choice?

LFC priority is to sign at least 3 more, winger, leftback and center-back.

1)Left-back- Enrique among KD's choice of LB but DC rated Enrique as average player.Leighton Baines also under consideration. DC's choice is Aly Cissokho. One of them will be our new LB. 10-15M

2) Central Defence - Scott Dann is 1st choice but depend on the price.LFC can offer up to 12M, other than that LFC might switch to other targets. Other targets are Dejan Lovren, Cahill, Silvestre and Shawcross. 8-15M

3)Winger - Downing is 1st choice. He can play left or right winger. LFC have bid rejected for Bastos which is also good winger. Cazorla, highly rated by Pepe Reina also a good winger. Juan Mata, Adam Johnson also possibility to fill LFC winger position. 10-20M.

Liverpool is target lass diarra, juan mata, gary cahill and jose enrique after finalising downing this week...

11 Jul 2011 10:47:29
Hello eds, Morning How likely is that we could complete downing this week. And any info about Doni. I read he would make the move today evening. THANKS {Ed002's Note - It is absolutely impossible for me to guess at timescales for when any transfers are completed - sorry. As for Doni, he is expected to travel to England today or tomorrow.}

My cousin is in rain hill high school, and she told me one of the French teachers have been asked to translate for a French player in talks with Liverpool. I don't know who the player is though

Eds, what happened with the 9m euro bid for Bastos you guys mentioned over weekend?

Was it rejected?

I havent seen this information anywhere else .. so im eager to know whats going on.

Keep up the good work fellas Fantastic job

LONDONRED {Ed002's Note - You really need to read the other posts. The issue of Bastos is discussed pretty much every hour.}

A little birdie told me Downing will sign in 48 hours and he is a massive Liverpool fan and would choose us over Barca also he has no interest in living in London

Hi Eds Is the James McCarthy deal dead in the water?? Ive heard we needed to get a few players off the wage bill before we can wrap up the dealAny truth in this at all? Johnny G {Ed002's Note - As far as I am aware the original enquiry was made, Liverpool were given a price that was unacceptable to them and that was the end of the matter. What may have changed is that all prices being quoted, particularly for English players seem to have risen unreasonably. In which case perhaps Liverpool could return with an offer.}

Next LFC signings:

Downing £17m LW
Enrique £8m LB
Cahill £15m CB or Dann £10m
Adam Johnson £20m (marquee signing) LW/RW
OR
Juan Mata £22m (marquee signing) LW/AM
Park Chu Young £6m

Thats your lot
What does eds think? {Ed002's Note - It is all possible of course.}

Charlie Adam's arrival at Liverpool could mean fellow midfielder Joe Cole leaves for Hamburg.

LFC have lost ground to Arsenal in pursuit of Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing.

Liverpool and Aston Villa will have to fork out at least £20m to sign Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia.

Leicester want to sign Liverpool's 30-year-old defender Paul Konchesky for £1.5m.

Former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler has signed for Thai outfit Muang Thong United.

mornin eds its very quiet on here this mornin, do u think anythin will happen regardin us today? {Ed009's Note - the calm before a storm no doubt... I'm not sure to be honest; Downing is possible to happen in part today, though I doubt the deal will be finalised. No other deals are that near to completion.}

Meireles and Aquilani wait on Serie A offers as duo head for Liverpool exit

Liverpool midfielders Raul Meireles and Alberto Aquilani are awaiting offers from Inter Milan and Fiorentina respectively this week.
Liverpool flew out on their tour of China and Malaysia with doubts over both players' futures.
Meireles, 28, is available for around £12.5m while Aquilani could be allowed to join Fiorentina on loan with view to a permanent deal following the collapse of his transfer to Juventus.

Morning Eds,

In the past you mentioned the likelihood of bidding for Mata would significantly decrease with the capture of Downing. I was wondering if you feel this would also apply to Adam Johnson if Downing was signed. I know both are left footed but Johnson definitely seems more comfortable on the right. Johnson may not be a viable target and think that after the signing of a left winger, left back and centre back would be priorities however wondered whether you think it may be feasible to see both Downing and A Johnson in our starting line up next season?

Cheers,
Greggers {Ed009's Note - our pursuit of Bastos (primarily a winger) shows that we are looking at the possibility of two wingers. Should Johnson become available and Bastos not be a success, I imagine we could look elsewhere. Johnson is a tricky one; Mancini doesn't want him in his squad, and Johnson doesn't want to be there. Previously it would have been impossible to sign a player from City but Mancini has more power in his position after winning the FA Cup and securing top 4. If they buy a winger, we could well see him become available.}

hi all great site eds addicted reading what youve been saying about aquillani and interest from fiorentina what chance of a swap deal for vargas? maybe poulsen thrpwn in if they wanted him very little cash involved what say you ed? thanks steviep48 {Ed009's Note - player swaps are very rare indeed, but there is interest in Vargas from Liverpool and I suppose - theoretically - a mutually agreeable deal could be achieved.}

morning all, Ed any news on whats happening with sissoko from Toulose are we still interested. (irishred) {Ed002's Note - Possibly. I cannot really say anything more with any confidence right now.}

11 Jul 2011 08:38:57
Eds, The player that would be makiing LFC Fans amazed, Is it Leighton Baines. A few sites are posting it this morning, Cheers.

11 Jul 2011 08:32:43
Eds,
What's happening degen? Will Liverpool be able to get him off the wage bill because I don't see who will buy this guy, he hasn't played football for the past 2 years and will demand stupid wages? Will we be stuck with him and be forced to send him on loan again? {Ed002's Note - I suspect Liverpool are figuring out who they can sell, who they can let go of on a free transfer and who they can negotiate with to release from their contract at an acceptable price. He will likely fall in to one of these categories.}

11 Jul 2011 08:19:55
Hey Eds big fan of the site (very addictive)
Do you think we will be in the market for a defensive midfielder even with the signings of henderson and adam as henderson could be a winger this season and with the sales of poulsen, aquilani, and maybe meireles?? {Ed001's Note - there does seem to be an intent to try and bring in one more central midfielder, not sure whether it will be a defensive midfielder or not though. I wouldn't expect one in until the priority positions are sorted now though, unless a target becomes available on the cheap.}

is moussa still on our radar ed? {Ed002's Note - Blaise Matuidi and Sossoko remain the most likely from my standpoint although they are at present both still being linked with what one might consider the usual suspects of Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, PSG and Juventus. It really seems to be a case of wait and see at the moment. James McCarthy's name still crops up as being a player that Liverpool are interested in, but there does not seem to be financial value there - at least to me.}

11 Jul 2011 06:25:55
Liverpool are planning an audacious move for Everton left-back Leighton Baines.

11 Jul 2011 06:24:25
Hi Ed's and Macca,

What's the latest on Turan?

Eds': How can we ask / post this to Macca?

Is there any concere interest or just the same thing as before where we never seem to bid for him?

What happened to A.Madrid inteste in him?

Great Job Eds'. Keep up the good work.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Macca will no doubt chip in if he has anything to say. As for Arda Turan, the standard words are still valid: Arda will move this summer and looked Atletico Madrid bound, perhaps the move is awaiting Aguero to be sold so that funds are available, but now things appear to be changing. Dortmund, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal and Spurs appear have dropped any interest that they had. I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters but to try and persuade Chelsea to let go of Drogba, Galatasaray have rather surprisingly offered up Arda as part of the deal. He has al;so been offered to Juventus. I have no idea why Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

£6million for Scott Parker seems very reasonable.

Liverpool buy him for squad strengh

11 Jul 2011 03:58:02
LIVERPOOL and Aston Villa will have to fork out at least £20million for Charles N'Zogbia.

I rate him at £8million. why has the pissy player got such a high price tag {Ed002's Note - I suspect that your idea of price is a lot closer to the truth.}

11 Jul 2011 03:19:16
I read this site multiple times a day, I am truly bored to often I guess. Great job you Ed's.
One thing I must say is that I have noticed that many many people said they were happy that the club were buying up and coming talent when Henderson signed, but that the owners needed to invest in "big name" or "star" players in order to get back into europe. Why then are so many of you not willing to be excited about the potential arrival of Stuart Downing?
I for one have been wanting this signing for years and consider Downing to be arguably the most underated player in the premiership. He is the established "star" so many have craved and now that we may actually get one there is little to no excitement
With a simple yes or no answer please Ed's Do you think we will.get Downing? {Ed002's Note - Probably.}

11 Jul 2011 01:21:12
I have good sources that tell me stuart downing will be signed this week, most probarly finalise the deal on tuesday evening. Aly cissokho will move to arsenal and we will purchase enrique from newcastle. A bid is also expected for scott dann and juan mata
