Ed could we be after banega good player {Ed002's Note - Not right now.}

Would getting Cruyff in be a good move?

Hopefully get the Dutch demi-god to lure Luuk De Jong, Christian Eriksen and Wolfswinkle to Anfield, if Kenny is on board with the player selection?

Drenthe for free as well, basically any Dutchman that has a touch of pace and quality, as well as Eriksen. :)

I've had a couple of cans, better than Kenny or Carroll talk. Plus Suarez was said to have a good relationship with Cruyff at Ajax, although not good enough to keep him there when Liverpool came calling, but that was partly due to a poor working relationship with Frank De Boer, as well as itchy feet and the lure of Prem football.

I don't think the Johan Cruyff link has come out of the blue.

We need cavani hed gel with suarez

Strong Rumours tonight that an appointment by LFC as replacement to Comoli is non other than Johan Cruyff.

YNWA jns

Those rumours started from the moment Comolli was sacked

So Noddy didnt get the job then?Big Ear's is such a liar!!

Good lord, I heard this too.

My Hero.

I never thought i'd say this - but he's too big for LFC!

The man is an institution in his own right!

BJH YNWA. (Holy F*ck!)

Rumours from BBC that is. Did you read it or have other sources?

-red norwegian- {Ed001's Note - it is old news that Cruyff was the man that Kenny recommended for DoF when FSG first bought the club. So it makes sense.}

Many reports are talking of three people:

Dein
Cruyff
Van Gaal

As much of a big name is Cruyff, I would much prefer Dein. He is the figurehead in English football, understands the premierleague through and through. He will be the ultimate choice for the whole club as a whole.

Cruyff and Van Gaal would be much preferred for football reasons only.

But ED Cryuff has just signed a new deal 2 days ago at Ajax where to quote he can carry out his technical revolution? {Ed001's Note - I meant it makes sense he will be linked with us. Ajax do have a major split in their camp, there are two opposing sides fighting tooth and nail for control. So that is another reason to make it seem likely he might be open to a move.}

Blimey! What a partnership!....

Why the need for a DOF do all clubs have one ED? {Ed001's Note - most clubs do now, they just have varying ideas of what the role entails. Some have little power, others are the power behind the throne. The idea here is to allow the coach to just coach, rather than trying to micromanage everything at the club. There was so much less involved in Shankly's day, or even when Fergie first arrived at United. One man simply doesn't have time to do everything. So you try and split the tasks between the right people with one man overseeing those people, that man being the DoF.}

Think it mentioned on the BBC website that Cruyff has left his role at Ajax after assurances were put in place that the next group of people running the club would be, in Cruyff's eyes, the right group of people. Think he had some serious issues with the high-up people at Ajax. Could be a goer, but after a bit of reading, I have to admit i'd prefer Dein as well. Still, either one of them would be infinitely better than Comolli, so yi can't really complain too much!

Rugby Parker

Dein is excellent, Wenger rated him so highly that he was considering resigning as manager of arsenal when Dein left, Dein talked him out of it. On the other hand Cruyff is a huge draw in world football and i'm sure Cruyff and Daglish turning up to contract negoitations would convince some world class players to join. Likewise his total football philosophy is genius. Van Gaal is tremendous also, but seeing that he's an established manager in his own right there may be a conflict of interest.

I have it on good authority lorente or Lewandowski are our prefered targets. Both will be hard to sign and very expensive.

Lewandowski would be great but what authority are you reffering to?

-red norwegian-

Llorente has signed a new contract and Lewandowski will cost about 30m..... Head in the clouds

12 Apr 2012 23:11:06
If doni got a straight red, why does he only have a 1 match ban {Ed002's Note - Because it was no violent conduct - else a 3 match ban.}

12 Apr 2012 23:11:05
i am hearing people say rafa benitez will be the new dof?? is these rumours true EDS?? {Ed002's Note - Exciting times ahead then.}

Id love it me....him and king kenny would be a beast together

Very happy.... Always knew stats wasn't the way forward. Now let's Concentrate on FACTS! :)

STB

Imagine the amount of money we would spend if this happened

Ed002 your such a p*** taker...You gota love it!!..Rafa no f*****g way people!!

Rafa would never take up a DoF role. He is only interested in a full time managerial position. Kenny as DoF and Rafa manager then maybe he would take it. It's never going to happen.

Ha simply a joke tweet by dom campbell that people fell for

Dat wud be good

You heard rubbish, mate. Rafa is kack as DOF. FSG will never employ him in that position.

12 Apr 2012 22:43:32
Ed is there a chance of getting falcao {Ed001's Note - very little, he has only just moved there and done well, it is very unlikely he will move anywhere this summer.}

Is that the guy who sang Rock Me Amadeus??

Classic song!!

Falcao? No. Diego? Possible.

Due to economic state of atletico, they have to sell the most expensive player on the team and that is probably falcao. atletico needs to sell him or other players so they can participate in europe next year and not end up like mallorca.

and i also believe diego is on loan

this applies the same thing with valenica. they need to sell soldado or banega to save the club.

We are looking at Johan Cruyff for the new DoF

IN
DOF - David Dein
ST - Soldado
LW/SS/RW - Iker Muinian
DM - Xabi Alonso
LB/LW - Álvaro Pereira

OUT
Kuyt
Adam
Carragher
Aurelio

...werrrr...where the tissues ;-)

So maxi, cole and aquilani are staying are they. Xabi will not return to us. muinian and pereira will have better options, soldado seems unlikely to me. not that i am a pessimist or anything.

Louis Van Gaal new LFC Director of football

Panda

I hope not... they guy scares the death out of me.

Id rather Vincent Van Gough!!

Ed's you are ALL legend's..Am just on a bit of a rant tonite,just Hate B******T post's that make no sense!! {Ed001's Note - you haven't seen the language coming out of me on our editor's widget. It is enough to make Catwoman blush!}

Big Cheer'S All Ed's..I feel so much better now! {Ed001's Note - glad you do! If I have to read one more whine about moneyball not working or how we should bring Rafa back, I think I will scream! The same Rafa that got rid of Alonso, Xavi Valero, Pako Ayesteran etc but left us with the likes of Ngog. The same moneyball that's only relevance to Liverpool is that Brad Pitt supports us.}

Eds could we persuade Graham carrs dad (chief scout at Newcastle) to be out new DOF would be a step up for him and perhaps for us also? {Ed001's Note - I doubt it, he has a very good role there and is highly valued. It would be a strange move for him and a big risk.}

Many many moons ago he was the manager of my local team Nuneaton town who are non-league perhaps he might see it as another carear move? Granted there above us but there's no doubt who's the bigger club

Liverpool and Juventus are monitoring David Villa's situation at Barcelona.

The experienced striker is currently recovering from knee surgery and hopes to be back in time to make Spain's Euros squad this summer.

Cadena Ser says Juve and Liverpool have already been in contact with Villa's camp and will watch closely his recovery with the view to making offers for the striker this summer

Na we will sign messi,ronaldo , neymar and villa

But he didn't have knee surgery. He broke his leg.

This is courtesy of Caughtoffside.

12 Apr 2012 20:22:36
Liverpool are eyeing up Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao as Kenny Dalglish looks to beef up his attacking options. The Merseyside club have scouted Colombian international on a number of occasions this season and are ready to make an offer for the 26 year old this summer.

The former FC Porto man has taken to life in La Liga instantly, notching up 28 goals in all competitions in his first season at the Vicente Calderon. Falcao had been hugely impressive during his time in Portugal, culminating in a 2010/11 campaign that saw the former River Plate man scoring 38 goals as Andre Villas-Boas's side completed the domestic double and won the Europa League.

Athletico signed Falcao for Ł34M last summer. He's going to cost in excess of Ł40m now

Rafa wanted to sign him from River for 4m sigh :(

12 Apr 2012 20:08:37
Hi eds with Comolli gone, does this mean all his scouts have gone aswell? {Ed001's Note - no.}

12 Apr 2012 20:06:25
I'm hearing that the one and only David Dein has been spotted in and around Anfield recently, not sure how true it is but it would be a master stroke by FSG if it was to be Comolli's replacement. Could the Ed's possible shed any light? Have you guys heard anything? {Ed001's Note - he has been at the last couple of games, I believe it is not quite the same role as Comolli he is being asked to take, but it will involve some of his duties. Not sure how much chance there is of him coming, he has rejected a number of job offers since leaving Arsenal.}

Gona show my ignorance here and ask what would the benefit of David dein be

Eds are you saying Mr henry offered him a role? I think it will do the club a whole world of good to have someone of this status in the board room. But how likely is it that he will accept a job? Isn't he a massive arsenal fan? {Ed001's Note - he was offered a role a while back as well. But I think he has accepted he is not returning to Arsenal any time soon and misses the involvement in footie, so we now have a chance.}

Me too ed's? i'm intrigued to why he was so highly praised at AFC yet is not with them anymore?

s.p {Ed001's Note - because he sold his shares to Usmanov in an attempt to back him buying up the club. It never worked out and so he was out on his ear in a boardroom bust up. The problem was that Dein's priority was trophies at the expense of profit, the rest of the board wanted profits at any cost.}

Dein was instrumental in convincing some of the world's biggest talents to join the Arsenal.

In September 1991 he helped Arsenal sign Ian Wright from Crystal Palace for Ł2.5 million

In June 1995 Dein flew to Milan and returned with the signature of, for the first time in Arsenal's history, a true international superstarť Arsenal bought Dutch International Dennis Bergkamp for Ł7.5 million from Internazionale.

Over the following years, Dein was also responsible for recruiting players such as Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Marc Overmars, Thierry Henry, Davor Suker, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell, Gilberto, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure, Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie. All were to contribute heavily to the success of Arsenal.

Today Arsenal is seen as an example of a leading club in world football and is admired around the world. David Dein has been instrumental in transforming Arsenal into what it is today.

He is 69 but is well respected throughout the football world, he oversaw Arsenal moving to their new stadium and is a very knowledgable man indeed.

He signed Wenger after years of trying to convince their board he was the man to move the club forward. Dein believed that English football was falling behind other European leagues and was not embracing a forward-looking plan to improve. He saw Arsene Wenger as the man to help push Arsenal forward embracing new methods to achieve this. Dein also believed that Arsene Wenger would change Arsenal's style of play which was seen as dogmatic and one-dimensional to one based on technique and speed more attuned with the approach adopted by teams from the continent.

Dein in my opinion would be brillant up stairs if he still has the hunger to suceed and pass on his immense knowledge to Liverpool Football Club who are after all in competiton with his beloved (or x!) Arsenal.

JK

Think the person above summed it up perfectly why David Dein would be ideal for LFC. Fingers crossed he comes on aboard.

Thanks for the reply and taking your word I would be chuffed if he was going to work with LFC

In a televised interview on LFCTV Werner made clear that they had come to the conclusion that Commoli wasn't the man for the job as regards transfers but stated that they had full confidence in KD. On the same programme KD said that he was responsible for identifying transfer targets and Commoli did the business. Surely that makes KD's position untenable. Perhaps Werner's vote of conidence is the kiss of death for KD? Kenny will not be in charge next season, He is living in the past and making a show of himself and the club in every single interview that he does {Ed002's Note - I would not try to read anything in to it. Comolli was the guy put in by FSG on the footballing side - including a role to provide advice to FSG using his extensive experience of the game. It has not worked out (as several of you have noticed) and the gangrenous appendage has now been removed. The end of the season will see everyone get together and figure out the way forward.}

I agree with the comment & think Kenny will step aside at the end of the season, but don't rub it in with Kenny, he answered the call when he was asked to help the club. We should support him to the max - we owe him for all the work he has done for club & the fans over the years, the least we can do is stand by him till the end of the season.

12 Apr 2012 19:26:30
if bologna get relegated will gaston ramirez price drop heavily if so do you think there is more chance of liverpool going in for him also will the summer targets change now that commoli has gone thanks eds {Ed002's Note - It will make no difference.}

Is their interest in him from liverpool? {Ed001's Note - yes.}

I don't know if you remember me posting, I said Kennys job is under threat ages ago, I started off with "word on the street" and got mocked for it because we were on a better run than we are now. I have news since FSG have been here that Kennys job is safe for now and will be reviewed at the end of the season. Tom and John enjoyed the Carling cup success so much they believe in Kenny. The long term plan for all concerned is to play like Barcelona and pick up a few trophys on the way. They believe it will take a few years so patience is the key. It is starting now with Rodolf as reserve team coach so expect to see a few youngsters signed in the summer. They will probably stick with Kenny until Pep Guardiola becomes available and they will try when he does. If things go sticky in the league next season expect Rodolf or the new director of football to be promoted on a short term basis. Kenny believes in the plan and is helping all he can. This is why FSG support Kenny and are eternally grateful to him when he took over the club after the Hodgson mess. Low team spirit etc. Also for the way he was there when they took over the club. Things have changed since the carling cup win and they know that sacking Kenny would turn some fans against them so if and when Kenny goes it will be mutual and not a sacking. No mention of what Kennys position will be when he does vacate the managers job. Damian left because of the inflated prices that did not seem negotiable on Liverpools behalf. Yes Kenny had the final say but the fee had nothing to do with Kenny. Its been known for ages that Damians family failed to settle in Merseyside so it was best for both parties. That's all I know, Cheers for reading.
Dave the Red

Actually Werner said they have great confidence in KK. You will be seeing him for another year whatever happens. Now get your bragging elsewhere!

Makes sense mate

Gazman

Well what else do you expect them to say publicly - that they have no confidence in him and plan to get rid of him in the summer ? come on, only FSG now what their plans really and maybe you are right but we dont know for sure

Rubbish absolute tosh

Fantastic news that Kenny Dalglish's job is secure and safe. He is defiently the right man for the job. Time is needed to make a title winning side

This does make some sense. How true it is is another question.

I knew this was BS when he started on about Pep Guardiola

Rome wasn't built in a day lads.

''The plan is to play like Barcelona''? - and where do Carroll and Downing fit into that? It must be a very long term plan!

12 Apr 2012 18:20:24
John Achterberg latest sacking at LFC.

Why kenny is safe ?

Natalie Wignall LFC's lawyer has been sacked.

Bring back Xavi Valero! Pepe was ace under his coaching.

Lazio want 16 mil pounds for hernanes seems decent enough buy doesn't it ed's? -mihir {Ed002's Note - I think that there could be interest in the player at the right price but Lazio may have a figure above £20M in mind which is why Juventus have been put off.}

I've read that Lazio want 20 million 'Euro's', which would be closer to Ł16 million pounds. If what i read was correct.

Also i read he's 27 and not 26 like is mentioned in the current transfer gossip about Hernanes.

Very sloppy player in terms of skill, tricks ect and his passing ability is poor, gives up the ball, and is not very confident. Don't want to see him in a reds shirt.

Hes a bit old isnt he? late 20s 27 i think

12 Apr 2012 17:03:22
Hi eds, any chance that Pepe Reina will leave this summer? If yes, then will we give Gulacsi a chance or buy a new one? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware that he is for sale.}

Doni's appeal was rejected earlier on, as was Ivanovic's of Chelsea.

12 Apr 2012 16:35:34
When Macca says about Soldado and Muinain (sp?), do we know if we want both together or if will we only go for muinain if we don't get Soldado?

PC

Initially it's both

Iker Munian has a few tricks but nah, he's not consistent, he had a great game against United. But eH.

Ł20m for Soldado and Ł30m for Llorente
That how to get 4th spot. Goals, lots and lots of goals!

^ but we need someone who can create chances for them they just arnt gonna get the ball and automatical score llorente has no pace. We need one of them and another striker with pace if suarez leaves and another creative player then we can challenge for 4th

The original poster is not saying should we go for these, what they are saying is that the site has received information saying that they are actually targets and is merely questioning whether we will go for both or if only one of them will be bought.

Anfield Andy

Any news on his injury ed's?

rikdangerous {Ed002's Note - I don't know whgat sort of news you expect?}

12 Apr 2012 16:11:51
Everyone who has come into the club since Damien [Comolli] has been here was of my choice
” Kenny Dalglish

Then you are the 1st one should shown the Door.

abcd.

So commoli the guy who came two summers ago under hodgson? was here by kennys choice? Stop talking s**t

Kenny probly picked them after camolli gave him a report saying these players were awasom an worth there stupid price tags thats why kenny ent to blame as much as camolli

He's hardly going to say: "That stupid French t**t signed all the underperforming players. Everything will be roses now."

We'll get a better indication of which players are "Kenny's" and which are "Comolli's" when transfers start, I think.

Pick another club mate. Maybe Chelsea they like to sack a manager every year. Should suit you down to the ground.

Commoli as director of football presented players he recommended pursuing based on the wide range of scouts we have watching various players. Kenny made the ultimate decision and Commoli and various other LFC staff finalised the deal as necessary. Both parties were responsible for the players we got in and I will say it now. At that time I wouldn't have chosen anyone else. We needed English players due to fair play regulations and we managed to get some top inform players for their respected clubs with premier league experience. Therefore on paper the signings were brilliant. Who could have predicted how they would fit in? These things take time, you are not appreciating this is almost a total re-haul of the squad we have changed around 7-8 of our first team in under 2 years. Keep the faith, its too easy to jump on the bandwagon and say we need a new manager. We are playing significantly better football than under Roy, a couple of new additions and I can see us getting back up where we belong.

-Al-

Well Al I didn't think You actually existed...a level headed, common sensed fellow red. Your post should be put on the Lfc.tv homepage. I am sick to the back teeth of these so called fans calling for kenny and the new players heads. No player whether they have premier league experience or not should be judged on 1 season. Let's look at others..Thierry Henry, nemanja vidic, drogba, kompany, ronaldo all had poor first seasons in England. We have one trophy in the bag, another semi on Saturday and yes this doesn't paper over the cracks but look at city, they have spent 3 times as much on transfer fees never mind wages and it has taken them over 4 years to come close to challenging for the league.

This is a transition period that has resulted in a trophy already, you lot need to get a grip and realise that, doing a Chelsea, doesn't win trophies. Let's get behind the manager. Fergie got 6 years to win a trophy, let's congratulate kenny on one in his first year and support the team.

Thats why he should resign

Al & the guy below Al, you are both EXCELLENT people! I'm glad to see some people with knowledge on here. Kenny goes nowhere!

12 Apr 2012 16:17:42
Eds, Macca said that Soldado and Muniain are our main targets.

Does that apply even if Kenny leaves? {Ed001's Note - you would have to ask Macca!}

Peter Brukner, head of sports medicine/ science has left the club. I'm told a few more people and a big name are on the way out!

12 Apr 2012 15:40:40
hey ed, who do u think will be liverpool manager if kenny moves upstairs next season?
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - I am not going to speculate just yet. Dalglish is manager and putting aside the untimely departure of the other guy (I forget his name), the manager and the team needs to the support for the weekend and the rest of the season. After that we can compare the relative merits of Super Stevie Nicol and Ruud Gullit for the manager's role. I am sure there will be a few more roles that need filling as well - Head of Sports Science perhaps being one.}

Why are you being sarcastic Ed? As far as I remember you were the one giving excuses about the "Director of Football" role as part of modern football and criticizing Rafa about "overspending" because he had absolute power. {Ed002's Note - Seems your brain has gone soft. I said nothing of the sort.}

Maybe it was another Ed then. Had a go at Rafa for "destroying" the club and he was full of praise of the owners and their DOF system. {Ed002's Note - So maybe it is worth checking before embarrassing yourself and taking a dig at me.}

12 Apr 2012 15:13:01
If kenny does step aside what are the chances of Martinez or AVB taking over? Not really sure who I would personally want as manager. Cruyff would be perfect to take a job upstairs rather than kenny as he is the one that put the foundations and the philosophy behind Barcelona.
MIKEYRED

Lol and we used to play a brand of total football in the 80s. We have the philosophy just not the players.

12 Apr 2012 14:56:23
Heard from a reputable source other lfc staff jobs are currently being reviewed, medical staff being one of them

Now that is just loads of rubbish... This is already a new medical team and they are doing a very decent job.

Liverpool's Head of Sports Medicine & Science Peter Brukner has also left the club

12 Apr 2012 16:00:12
Breaking News - Liverpool's Head of Sports Medicine & Science Peter Brukner has also left the club. {Ed002's Note -

He was right medical staff are going as we speak

Nope he's right dr. brunker is gone , confirmed, more heads to follow

dodge

Anyone who has helped to keep Agger off the treatment table needs a payrise - not the sack! ;-)

12 Apr 2012 14:55:33
Ed, If Kenny does go mate do you have any idea, who could replace him? Or who FSG could be looking at, for next manager?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I don't know Blair, but I will pass on what I hear. Are you thinking Suepr Stevie Nicol as the best option still?}

I'd rather have Digger Barnes, than Stevie Nicol Ed. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Look out Super Steve.

Eds... Just a quick 1, when Macca said he believes Solgado to be our main target does he mean Soldado of Valencia? Just confused because there has ben quite a few Solgados but I kno we were interested in Soldado

Cheers

Managing Director Ian Ayre's position is under immense pressure. FSG are demanding answers as to why he couldn't find a suitable company for naming rights and the dealing with the whole Suarez issue.
Basically,what has he done for the club since becoming the managing director?

Zabwala

He has shown a total lack of leadership since his arrival and a total lack of willingness to take control of responsibility for pr problems such as the suarez affair. he is not md or ceo material full stop..doesn't possess the necessay gravitas!

Its the players that need the sacking!

YNWA...Yoyoman

He did get us a better sponsorship deal...

Dan

And yet he has brought in standard chartered and warrior. FSG are not so stupid, they have just managed to stabilise the club. They wouldn't want to reshuffle the whole club again.

He has done enourmous amounts. shut up you person you dont know what youre saying.

Standard Chartered and Warrior were via John Henry he set them up {Ed002's Note - Standard Chartered was a H&G deal. You can thank them for it.}

He helped save the club from administration you plunker.And put hicks and wicks were they belong out of our club.

12 Apr 2012 14:22:57
Eds nw that comolli is sack will we still be intrested in the two spainish player that mecca say would try to sign {Ed002's Note - I cannot reasonable answer for Macca.}

12 Apr 2012 14:19:32
Commoli has got a new job with Platini at UEFA. He couldn't commit to Liverpool because his family hadn't settled on Merseyside. This was the main reason but not the only reason for him leaving.

12 Apr 2012 14:16:26
Tony Barrett of the The Times has just posted the following on Twitter

"Looks like today could be a day of long knives at Anfield..."

make of it what you will...

im not saying he's the most informed journalist of all time....

just thought its worthy of mentioning.

Kenny next for the sack?

Lets hope not doing a great job

Keep an eye out for David Dein's name being mentioned with Liverpool in the next few days/weeks. LFC also looking at possibly johann cruyff at comolli replacement.

Comolli's sacking is some of the best news to come out of liverpool for a while, maybe next time the owners will listen to what past employers say, im sure the owners of the last club that Comolli worked at said he spent all there money on 12 players and only 2 of them were in the first team and he had left them nearly bankrupt.

Edds what do you think the chances of us going in for newcastles head scout is? that guy is finding some quality signings, i would even swap him for carrol! lol {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt they would let Graham Carr go, unfortunately.}

I thought that St. Etienne quite liked him? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps you should look up what St Etienne's Bernard Caiazzo had to say.}

How about alan carr?

I take it you know that Alan Carr is Grah's son

Rumours of Johann Cruyff to Liverpool...

Not sure in what capacity.

Director of Footall or Manager perhaps...

Kenny is our cryuff.

12 Apr 2012 12:39:52
Mutual consent? That's a kind and respectful way of him and FSG confirming he was effectively sacked. It was always FSG's intention to reshuffle the management structure in the summer anyway, but they have acted now based on the fact the Euros are on this summer so want their new management team in place before the Euros start. However, 2 days before Liverpool's biggest game of the season so far is a little questionable.

Kenny will remain as manager until the end of the season regardless of what happens Saturday. He will then take up the position of Director of Football and will work alongside the board in recruiting a new manager ASAP after this campaign ends. FSG are ruthless when it comes to wanting success. The Boston Red Sox had 8 general managers in 8 years. This is how much these guys want success. You could say that their hunger for success and honours is fantastic, but there is no sense of continuity if that happened here. They prefer younger players/coaches who are highly ambitious. Well, don't be surprised if our next manager was Andre Villas-Boas. We were linked to him when they first took over. Yes it didn't work out for him at Chelsea but Roman doesn't give managers much time. AVB would share the same long-term strategic view as FSG do.

Don't want AVB!

Not sure AVB is the way to go... In my opinion he is a bit short on tactics. In porto, he played hulk and varela on the wings with falcao in the middle. When he came to Chelsea he tried to do the very same thing with Torres, Mata and Sturridge. Never changed his tactics... Would never succeed in the premier league if he doesnt know how to change things.

If doing any comparisons to the red sox, John Henry likes stability within the club. The Red Sox had the same manager and General manager for 8 straight years. He wouldn't axe Kenny or Comolli for that matter unless he was 100% certain it would help move the club forward.

How can anyone want AVB over Kenny Dalglish?? theres rumours...then there is total gobs**te!

I like that they have decided to sack DC now, at least it shows the players they are working for ambitious owners, who will not tolerate anything below their expectations.

Expect to see some of our players play some of their best football on saturday, especially more determination from Carroll, Henderson and Shelvey.

I'd be chuffed with AVB, I have a lot of time for the guy and think he was undone my a small group of malignant, selfish, egotistical Chelsea players with too much power within their club. He knows how to organize a side, and the only reason Chelsea shipped more goals under him is because Terry is an elderly donkey who can't cope with playing a higher line. Skrtel/Agger/Coates wouldn't have that problem.

Okay a few things. The 8 general managers in 8 years for the red sox is not true actually its 2 in 10 years. FSG bought the red sox in 2002 in that year they hired the youngest general manager ever in major league baseball Theo Epstein. 2 years later they won their first title since 1918 and a few years later another won. at the end of last season Epstein left the red sox and FSG hired only their 2nd gm in 10 years. I watch baseball a lot in the states and I can tell you this FSG have done an incredible job with the red sox. And I have the upmost confidence they will do the same with lfc. As they have already shown by their willingness to invest. {Ed002's Note - You cannot compare what happened at the Red Sox to what is happening at Liverpool at all.}

In my previous comment I wasn't trying to compare the two I was voting my confidence in FSG and correcting the 8 gm in 8 years statement. That being said though i am interested in what ed002 what you ment by your reply? Hows the situation different? {Ed002's Note - They are two different sports, with radically different finances and radically different profiles around the world. There is also a secondary issue that, whilst it can't be openly discussed, may well have a long-term impact on the business. I completely agree that FSG have done a great job with the Red Sox and the community.}

Ahh okay yea I totally agree with you on all those points.

To the guy who said AVB was undone by a small group. Dalglish is being undone by a small group of fans, you being one of them. Go support chelsea

'To the guy who said AVB was undone by a small group. Dalglish is being undone by a small group of fans, you being one of them. Go support chelsea' To be fair the only people undoing Kenny are the players and possibly Steve Clarke with too much tactical tinkering.

'To be fair the only people undoing Kenny are the players and possibly Steve Clarke with too much tactical tinkering.'
Either way Kenny isnt the problem

Red soxs have had 2 general managers in the last 10 years , they just changed the manager this year(previous in charge for 8 years and the old won was in his late 50's and the new one is in his 60's.heir 2 GM's are young , both in their 30's, but get your facts right.

"Yes it didn't work out for him at Chelsea but Roman doesn't give managers much time"

Oh, but FSG sacking Kenny in year 1 of his 3 year deal is giving him PLENTY of time?? It amazes me where some of you people come from!

Now that Commoli has left, shows what FSG is all about, they are ready to make decisions & bring changes if it is needed to carry us forward, failure certainly not an option.

With the fact Kenny saying he is responsible for the players brought in and they were his choice, Commoli only helping him to bring them has made me think Kenny has a real chance of leaving at the end of season whether we win the FA cup or not [may be he is been sarcastic as usual or may be most of them are really Commoli's choices for whom Kenny agreed and Kenny decided not to put the blame on him]. Some guessing he might be the new DOF , but I very much doubt it. He will move upstairs may be honorary president or an ambassador role.

FSG's choice of manager still the same, the same gaffer who was ready to be our permanent manager before Kenny took over. Obviously Not Rafael Benitez.

And on DOF, at this time no clue at all but something tells me some one from Spain will be our new DOF.

May be former Barca sporting Director Txiki Begiristain!

Armando

They should have sacked kenny the guy who spent the money

We would be very lucky to get Rafa.

Sbs3em

I heard David dein or cruyff were being looked at

So who's the mystery manager Armando?

Team v everton
Gk Jones
RB Johnson
Cb Carragher
Cb Skrtel
Lb Agger
Rm Henderson
Cm Gerrard
Cm Spearing
Lm Downing
St Carroll
St Suarez
Subs
Gulasci
Flanaghan
Coates
Shelvey
Maxi
Bellamy
Kuyt

We already knew Dalglish had the final say on transfers, Comolli stated so last Summer.
Dalglish isn't being sarcastic or the like, he's reiterating what Comolli had said previously.

12 Apr 2012 12:26:42
dalglish will be director of football next season! roberto martinez is being lined up as head coach

Would be stoked with Martinez, think he is a very good manager.

Steve

Would have a stroke is Martinez became the new Liverpool manager.

He's Not Good Enough For Liverpool.

Martinez?, are u out of your mind?

He is a good manager with good future. But he will not leave wigan.

Martinez needs time at a slightly bigger Stoke/Sunderland/Aston Villa type mid-table side before he takes on a club with European football and top 4 ambitions (granted we are mid-table at the minute, but if a few of our late chances had gone in in those games before Christmas we'd be looking very different right now)

Look at roberto di matteo. took west brom from the championship to the prem and now is doing very well at chelsea

If daglish had the final say on signings, why do we want him picking them initially? {Ed002's Note - That was not how it worked.}

12 Apr 2012 11:47:16
Breaking: Liverpool have appealed Alexander Doni's red card.

For some reason i don't believe this

We had until 1pm yesterday to appeal

No they havent, they had until 1pm yesterday and didnt.

Yes they have appealed. There is a chance it may be extended if it fails or if we win it will be reduced it's a win win situation for us, because if it does get extended then reina's back anyway or if we win the appeal he plays

12 Apr 2012 11:41:45
Well, considering Comolli's sacking, eds does that mean that any interest in players we have reportedly been interested in for the past few months such as Luuk De Jong and Mauricio Isla are now effectively gone? {Ed001's Note - no.}

12 Apr 2012 11:36:17

12 Apr 2012 11:30:57
Hello everybody

I knew Damien Comolli was getting the sack, I was told big changes were coming last week but not till after the semi final was out off the way.

I can tell you this now that kenny will be the next big casualty (the offer kenny has on the table, either step down or we'll sack you) these guys are ruthless when it comes to failure.

The_Insider.

Can't help but feel Comolli leaving leaves the director of football spot free for someone to move upstairs..." um I wonder who that could be?

So if you knew this last week....how come your just telling us now??

Not a chance of kenny being sacked or stepping down till the end of the season

Yeah, and i knew that Doni would get sent off on Tuesday night and that Carroll would score an injury time winner.

Seriously if you knew Comolli was going why not tell us before hand - this is a rumour site after all. You would have started to get taken seriously as actually being an insider.

Bob

They wont sack him if he wins the FA cup but i know they are already looking at other managers and after the Euros one or two good ones will be free, Lucky for KD he has one cup this season and if it wasnt for that and his known history with liverpool he would of been gone a long time ago, got a lot to learn next year

Yeah, i can also state things after they've happened. you're about as genuine as derek acorah

U new this for a few weeks did you insider,what and you just sat on it but thought you would come out now wen it has happened.ok i put to you tht you are full of s**t
mrbrown

I didn't say anything before because you all jump on our backs if something changes, I've seen the way you guys treat macca on here.

Damien Comolli was sacked because top managers don't want a football directors

Kenny will leave at the end of the season even if lfc win the FA Cup.

The_insider

"Kenny will leave at the end of the season even if lfc win the FA Cup."

Okay, if you're genuine, tell us where he will leave for, a move upstairs or leave the club?

I believe you The_insider! i also believe that Rafa will take over on the 1st of June! Intheknow

Lets see how we do on saturday....Dalglish's first season in charge....1(pos. 2) cups, european football-top half finish...and british core re-built squad...hmmm I know lets jack that all in for a 4th place finish.....

So you didnt tell us because...

Love it, You knew last week, but Tom Werner stated the decision was only made yesterday..... change your name to the clown or something, its more fitting

So who are the likely candidates to replace kenny?

12 Apr 2012 11:22:17
Any interest anywhere in ter Stegen from M'Gladbach? He's one of the best young GKs I've ever seen.

I watch him a lot love to see him at Liverpool

Great reflexes, good at getting a counter attack going. He was linked with Barca too. Wish we'd get him.

He kicks ass in fifa

12 Apr 2012 11:15:56
So, (and im sure you will get a flood of these questions)

Now that comolli is gone, does that mean that the transfer targets - luuk de jong, soldado and munian in particular, will have changed?

I do not think that ed will be able to say if targets have changed this early.

However i think targets may change

Dalglish said it was he himself who chosed the players and then he sent comolli to get them. comolli then came back with the players. that means that the transfer targets still are the same players

If Comolli was totally in charge of transfers then he has been binned for the dross he brought in during the summer and if he has highlighted any players to be brought in this summer that probably won't happen now.

His poor track record speaks for itself.

Looks like the Americans weren't happy with the current form and have acted swiftly.

Dalglish isn't soft - he knows Soldado is a quality player. Remember he tried to sign Zidane for Blackburn while he was at Bordeaux?

Kenny Dalglish isn't going to undermine himself to the media and say

''Well, in fact no i don't sign the players, that French guy over there is actually in charge of the money.''

I think Comolli was forced out and the reason being that his signings haven't produced the goods this season. He would have been given scope to spin it to the media. ''Leaving for Family reasons.''

We hear and read this sort of thing in business and politics all the time. It's the big resign, instead of big chop from the corporate guillotine.

12 Apr 2012 10:46:00
Damien Commolli has parted company with Liverpool.

Shocked, anyone see that coming?

DMT07

Bit of a shock. Does this mean KK is being moved upstairs and a new manager coming in?

I saw it last night! at the bottom of my tea cup!

I'm surprised by this but as I understand his role in player recruitment and the failures in this area I suppose it makes sense. It is reassuring in many ways that the owners have acted in this manner as this was their Appointment and they can admit to a mistake. Will this take pressure off Kenny or add to it?

Another point but what awful piece of PR buy the club. We all know KK hates dealing with SKY and now he's going to be bombarded with questions in his next press conference. Why not wait until after the FA Cup Semi to announce the news?

12 Apr 2012 10:39:20
Ii think we should go for Andre ayew off Marseille good strong midfielder n young we shud also look at taraabt shouldn't cost to much n is the sort of player we need he cam create something outa nothing what's the chances ed? {Ed001's Note - thankfully little Taarabt is not a good player.}

12 Apr 2012 10:31:23
Hey ed quick question you no much about gary medel from sevilla seems to be a bit of a beast in cm and also you no of any intrest from us? Cheers {Ed001's Note - no interest that I know of, but I like him as a player, I think he would have been perfect to cover for Lucas this season and a great partner for him in midfield.}

12 Apr 2012 10:43:20
Damien Comolli has been sacked

YoungRed

Hes right, jus googled it. so guess he was responsible for signings rather than kenny. ive been saying that for weeks.

Yeah! it on the offical lfc site!

Comoli has not been sacked . he has gone by mutual consent otherwise there be money involved

Mutuel consent for family reasons going back to france

Did he not leave for family reasons

Yea it's on LFC site it's official! Kenny to move upstairs and Rafa back in I think

According to the lfc website he resigned due to family reasons

Wow, so he has!

No great loss imo

cozinoz

Left by mutual consent.
Family reasons
Piddy.

Well well, this is good news... Either Kenny will be given another chance, or Fenway are paving the way for a manager who needs full control over team affairs..

Already gone

Just seen it on the telegraph site!

Confirmed on www.liverpoolfc.tv

Bye bye DC

The Wolfman

Got to say this surprises me. It's official on the LFC site now. Guess there were disputes over transfers and how well the transfers had performed. Couldn't get rid of Kenny so Comolli took the brunt of it.

Could put more weight behind the rumours about KK moving upstairs at the end of the season?

Why did he get sacked exactly, eds? Isn't it like, kennys fault that we aren't winning.
i'm a huge liverpool fan, and what kenny has done in the past, was just EPIC! but sadly the results aren't coming our way {Ed001's Note - it is a team effort, if the team isn't all pulling together results won't be right.}

'family reasons' is just an excuse.
Daniel Rogers.

Maybe he was behind the poor signings from the summer?

Have always said rafa will not come back because he can't work with people like comolli. Rafa would always wanna get his own hands on the team. Does this mean we should expect the return of Rafa?

Everyone who has come into the club since Damien has been here was of my choice.

"Once I made the choice who I wanted, Damien went away and did a fantastic job of bringing them
looks like kenny might be gone at the end as it is his signings not comoli

Come on camoli is gone because he pissed away over a hundred million of there money and the team is worse now than before family reasons my arse its to save face he has made a mess off 3 clubs so if he does not go looking good he will not get another job in that position ever again thats the truth

Or kenny could be taking over his role in order for a new manager coming in. That way the owners won't feel the black lash from the fans as much if kenny is sti involved

And KD has been quoted today as saying they were his signings , he won't be around much longer if that is the case. Honorable though it is (supporting Comolli) but what a stupid thing to say?? Pressure has now doubled on KD with that statement. Kenny is a legend but I do not think moving him upstairs will work , it needs to be a completely fresh start with the new manager (if it happens) and not having the new manager having to deal with the spectre of the old. (Houllier & Evans for example)

Above post talking about it might be Kenny next.....

you're making the assumption that Comolli has left because of the signings.

Think this through properly please. If someone was sacked because of something that you part of would you keep your mouth shut or tell the world that it was your fault?

Eds was he sacked or did he step down ,any inside information
thanks eam {Ed001's Note - he was pushed out the door.}

Hopefully kenny will be sacked and rafa benitez can be the manger!

'Think this through properly please. If someone was sacked because of something that you part of would you keep your mouth shut or tell the world that it was your fault?'

??

Head of Sports Science now been sacked too , is this cost cutting or a clear out??!! Ed? {Ed001's Note - clear out of underperforming staff.}

12 Apr 2012 09:42:52
ed is there any interest in adrian of atletico

wafa {Ed002's Note - No.}

Top player though

12 Apr 2012 09:06:59
This isn't a rumour but reckon Liverpool could do themselves a great service and look at Matt Ryan from Central Coast Mariners in the A-League as a back-up to Pepe Reina. He is only 19 and is already a great young keeper (CCM finished the season top- thanks in part to him)- is in the Socceroos squad for World Cup qualifiers. Wouldn't cost a lot either.

Already considerably better than Brad Jones and is 11 years younger

He is a fantastic young keeper and will step straight into the national team when schwartzer hangs up the gloves imo.

Yea he is a great young keeper. one area where australia seems to always be strong. I think it would be a good move! markdavo4

12 Apr 2012 08:52:14
Hi eds! Do u think clubs are getting deals in place ready for when the window opens so they can tie them up before euros? Do u think we have a good chance of soldado and adam jhonson? Thanks eds for a great site!!! {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to say when any deals will complete. There is a chance that either will end up at Liverpool.}

12 Apr 2012 08:14:58
Feyenoord are reportedly willing to offer Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt a coaching role in their bid to lure their former star back to De Kuip this summer.

Kuyt, 31, is expected to be one of a host of names to depart Anfield this summer having confessed last month that he will consider his future at the end of the season having failed to tie down a regular first-team place under Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli admitted recently that there the will be some comings and goings in the close season as the Reds look to fine tune a squad that has shone in domestic cup competitions but failed miserably to deliver in the Premier League this season.

Kuyt joined Liverpool from Feyenoord in 2006 having finished the 2004-2005 season as the top scorer in the Eredivisie with 29 goals. In his six seasons at Anfield, the Dutchman, still a vital part of Bert Van Marwijk's Holland side, has chalked up 276 appearances and scored 71 goals.

He was linked with a January move to Galatasaray, but stayed put after reportedly rejecting the overtures of the Turkish side, going on to score a dramatic late winner in Liverpool's FA Cup fourth round win over Manchester United that very same month.

His future, however, looks to be increasingly elsewhere, although whether he returns to his native Holland with Feyenoord remains to be seen as a host of clubs in Italy are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation, with Fiorentina leading the pack.

Even Damien Comolli doesn't know who's coming or going does he.

I think he was referring to himself going

12 Apr 2012 07:24:43
Is it likely that LFC will attempt to arrange for their transfer targets to sign some sort of pre-contract in advance of the transfer window, as Arsenal seem to be attempting with Podolski? {Ed002's Note - No, that is pretty rare.}

12 Apr 2012 02:40:18
Eds i have a question, i am wondering about dzagoev's contract. Does it finish in july or do russian contracts run till after the end of their season? Do you think if he was available for the right package we would be interested? I know that free transfers usually end up costing the club a lot of money in signing on fees but he fits the recruitment policy in my opinion. Thanks

Loafmaster flex {Ed001's Note - they run to the end of their season, in December. It is possible he could use his loaf and choose to earn his cheddar in the English Prem. I have not heard of us showing any interest in him myself though.}

Thanks for the pun heavy reply, it was loaftacular {Ed001's Note - why thank you. I had to run with it, it gelled nicely with the topic at hand for us editors. It provided me with a bounty of related puns. I am just disappointed it took me until the 3rd sentence to squeeze in one reference to the topic this time.}

12 Apr 2012 02:29:31
I dont know if anyone has asked yet so i do apologise if they have, but i read online that Man City are thinkin of lettin Adam Johnson go for around 10 mill, apparently sunderland and everton are top of the list of teams interested, any idea if true and/or any interest from Liverpool. Thanks.

Carb

His wages are that of a 20mil plus player!

Red from SA

Why can you people not use a search function?

If his wages are that of a 20 million pound player then that could safely rule out the bitters and Sunderland then? And also what is a 20mil player anymore as i am unsure? Hendo, Downing, Carroll etc?

To the 2nd reply, I can use the search function, i've been using this site for almost 2 years, but everytime i type Adam Johnson in, i get wishlists and not actual questions, therefore, why cant you give a useful answer? Surely would have taken the same amount of time as the reply u did write?

Duncan Oldham just tweeted that there will be some LFC activity happening tomorrow evening. Anyone know what it could be?

Thanks.

Loan goaly comin back from hull

Ignore anything that fraud says. I'd believe Taggart on anything LFC before I'd belive him.

Save yourself the trouble. Leave his site well alone.

Apparently king kenny had decided to bite the metaphorical bullet and let one of his projects go ufortunately henry the hoover hasn't worked out and he is leaning towards a more modern 'allround performer' in the make of a dyson but with prices being as it may I'm afraid we could be looking at a second hander...
Heard it here first!!! Copper red

Yeah he literally knows nothing.

Yes I believe that the cleaners and the dinner ladies are going on a night out to the sandon

I think ever post that contains "Duncan Oldham" should not be allowed to be posted, the man is a fat trout who sits on his fat arse in Spain rinsing liverpool fans of their money!

Peter Gulacsi arriving back from his Hull loan prior to being a sub for Saturday's game against Everton in the F.A. Cup.

Duncan Oldham gets no credit for this.

No way! did the eds alter my post? :') {Ed001's Note - I might have done something a little fishy there, can you plaice it?}

There's your mistake, you mentioned "Duncan Oldham". He's a fraud. & there's already speculation that Gulacsi might be on his way back from loan.

Yes the players will be training

So this fellow was right about something happening at Anfield today . Commolli has been sacked.
