Media in Holland reporting that Sneijder is to sign for us on monday he is taking a massive drop in wages to join us.
Hope they are right!

I don't see it happening. We sold Cole to drop the wage bill, why would we then get someone who we will have to pay more, to even if he is taking a cut?

Apparently in the papers today they are saying that he is currently on £160k a week, Gerrard is our top earner and on £150k a wk, so if Sneijder were to take a pay cut then as we have freed up wages through Cole & Sahin then we would be able to afford him, be nice if its true as we need more than just youth.

BigD {Ed002's Note - And Sturridge plays for free does he? Forget all this wages nonsense please.}

We sold Cole to drop the wage bill because he was not performing. However, I believe Snjeider would be worth the re-bump in wages.
Dani

Sneijder wouldn't drop a penny of his wages.

As regards Sneijder monday is d day "Ian Ayre has been in talks with Liverpool's Boston-based owners in the last 24 hours to see if a deal is feasible not saying it will defo happen but they are trying to do a deal

Been reading the comics again.

Mirror reporting Sneijder bid made from BR? He'd be a coup for lfc.

12 Jan 2013 23:08:01
Just heard from an ITK that Torres may potentially be returning to Liverpool. The deal being mooted at present is a loan till the end of the season with an option to purchase in the summer. This was discussed tonight between LFC and CFC officials. I can't personally confirm this - this is what I've been told about 3 hours ago.

"may potentially be returning" rather vague...you sound like a rainmaker...

Would have hime back straight away

I rate a Torres loan happening as unlikely as the rumour of us taking £32 million Luca Modric on loan.Never going to be done.

ED002 - According to a so called agent on Twitter, Torres could be inline for a return to LFC after being abused by CFC fans.

Is there any truth in that, not holding my breath TBH {Ed002's Note -Liverpool has not made any approach to Chelsea but should an acceptable offer be made and should he desire a return, then no doubt the club would not stand in his way.}

Christ is this still going on

I would like us to make a loan offer (1 M) for Torres for rest of season with view to buy him back if he does not sulk, gets his head down and works for the team like he did when he first came to Liverpool. (15 m) He has a lot of making up to do if he did return after his exit.

Baz

Cant happen too much money and pride involved.

What can and probably will happen is Torres back to Athletico.

Yeah, Im sure Dan Sturridge would love that!

Red G

Ed i remember you replying quite similar posts to people asking about sturridge to liv ha ha this must mean torres is a dead cert

grego {Ed002's Note - No Grego, I have said since the day Liverpool made contact about a transfer that if they made an acceptable offer then Chelsea would not stand in his way.}

18/1 on for him to return to liverpool enough said
Eam

Get it done and bring him home. yea he left and wants to return let him, just like rush and fowler but no one moans about that. get the taxi red would love to see him back in red rocking the kop once again...YNWA

Edd i was trying to be funny i no there is no chance of a return chill all this torres talk going to your head
grego {Ed002's Note - As far as I am concerned Grego it just looks like you having a go at me and lying? I get enough abuse without you stirring up more.}

If this was to happen I would collect El Niño myself and bring him home. RedzBak.

"I have said since the day Liverpool made contact about a transfer that if they made an acceptable offer then Chelsea would not stand in his way."

Ed I was just wondering what player what year this sentence refers to to. Have Liverpool inquired about Torres is what I am trying to ask without trying to put words in your mouth?
Andrew {Ed002's Note - It referred to the previous sentence Andrew, where Grego was trying to stir up trouble regarding Sturridge. As such, it refers to Sturridge and the year was 2012.

Reading the first post you will see, in respect of Torres, that "Liverpool has not made any approach to Chelsea but should an acceptable offer be made and should he desire a return, then no doubt the club would not stand in his way." I would of course say that my opinion remains that a return to Anfield for Torres is really not on the cards right now. He has not been playing well for a prolonged period and the end of the season will likely see a permanent departure from these shores.}

I knew I'd cause a stir with this post, personally, I would have him back.

Agreed, he'd have some making up to do but I know that every LFC fan has that little thing inside that would like him back.

13 Jan 2013 09:15:29
I say forgive and forget, if its true then I'd be more than happy to see torres in red again, there was reports of abuse towards him from fans last night that has to be the final nail in the coffin for him at the chavs, FSG listern to the fans and show you mean business with Liverpool Football club and bring Fernando Torres home

Thanks ed, I hope for his career he moves on as soon as possible. I think back to Athletico would be best, but Chelsea might want Falcao or first dibs on him. Its a shame as a fan of him how far he has fallen.
Andrew {Ed002's Note - Even though it is possible something coulde be done involving both players Andrew, there is no dependency. AM know they will lose Falcao and probably Adrian Lopez and are actively looking at replacements.}

12 Jan 2013 22:38:11
Liverpool have reportedly offered 11millon for CSKA Moskva's forward and Czech republic international Tomás Necid

As a Czech, I could absolutely say, that this is totally B......t
price of this player should be 1M pounds top. !!

12 Jan 2013 22:09:02
Liverpool talking with Sneijder over a possible move. Ince deal off till the summer.

There is no chance this will happen, liverpool seem to be too slow when it comes to gettin big names

Why do people keep thinking it may not happen, we were paying around 150k to joe cole nd sahin to sit on bench, we need a number #10 and if brendan thinks sneijder can make an impact why not.....and i think sneijder will take a pay cut he hasnt got many options left.im not saying its going to happen but 'no chance'?

Utter rubbish

He is on the move, but aren't comin too us. would love to se him in red, but we strugle on the big names... we are mid table team at the moment... how many big names does fullham have??

Iv'e found a couple o quid behind the sofa...let's get him!

12 Jan 2013 21:47:16
Andy Carroll set for cut price £10m deal to West Ham in the summer after being told he's no future at LFC by Rodgers.
Murton Red

I doubt he needed telling he has no future with BR since he let Carroll go when we were so short of strikers we were desparate for anyone with a sniff of goals.

The Plank

You are just making up nonsense. AC is set for a move as long as WHU stay in the EPL. The reported price is £17m and is something that WHU can choose not to take up only if AC has a serious injury threatening his play not caused in a game for WHU or they fail to stay up in the EPL.

Deal already been set hasnt it i thought it was 2m loan years wage and 17m buy am i wrong if so what is it

mayhem 1981

I'd snap their arm off.

I personally think he will end up back at Newcastle either now or Jan, the fee should be £15m with add ons and a re sale clause.

Titi camara was better than andy carrol, bring titi back!

Tut tut, short memories, FA cup semi final and the FA cup final, when he came on and almost turned the game around

Is that it, titi camara scored a winner against arsenal, at there old ground and we hadn't beaten them in years, if andy carrol was that good he wouldn't be were he is now, he was good at newcastle because its his home town , no pressure on him ect

Will take 10 quid for him

I still think scoring the winner in the semi's and dumping the Blue S**te out of the FA cup - sort of beats scoring at Highbury derrrr - Where any of you lot actually there or as I suspect stuck to the armchair telly clapping!

Ok it seems not many believe me. It is good info I have got and unless Andy dosent won't to go then it will happen. I gess we will see in the summer if I am right or not.
Murton Red

Nobody is DOUBTING he will go...we're just doubting your set of suggested details. So, when he goes to WHU in the summer you cannot say anything other than sorry.

Lots of clubs would be interested in taking a punt on Carroll come the summer and would pay a decent amount more than 10m for him. At least 15m from Newcaslte. We can only hope he has a better second half to the season with WH with a few goals/performances to up interest/price come the summer.

Its not that noone believes you, its that the price has already been set at 17million... so why drop to 10?

So sad that Carroll will never play at Liverpool again. {Ed052's Note - why}

12 Jan 2013 21:30:49
Not saying he's going to sign for us but Torres has asked for talks tonight, he wants out, apparently abused outside the ground by own fans.
Sired

Get fernando back. torres, suarez + gerrrard, what a combo. what we as fans want is liverpool back at the top + torres back with us can only help that. give him another chance, rodgers + the liverpool staff can get him back to doing what he does best. if da rumours are true welcome him back with open arms, we won't be sorry

He has lost it, Rafa bought him and isn't starting him so surely that tells you something. Never coming back people so why the desire to see a player that wanted to leave return?! Let's all move on next we will be asking Sami to come out of retirement . Forwards not backwards please

Daniellambretta

13 Jan 2013 00:08:29
get him home wish this would happen. rush and fowler left and come back do you hold that against them.. no? bring home our numberr 9

To compare rush and fowler leaving to torres is ridculous.

12 Jan 2013 21:28:58
Liverpool in talks with Sneidjer...

Really??? Surely not???

Mighty reds

Where did you hear this?
Deanalfie.

Apparently liverpool have held talks in december just gone, but i just can't see it meself am not so keen on him, but would be a great signing, we do need a good CAM ( center attacking mid)

12 Jan 2013 22:00:41
no no he's not lets not get peoples hopes up

Wat a signing this would be!

12 Jan 2013 21:01:49
Sneijder to Merseyside.

Yeah the blue half...........No if we can't afford he wages they defo cant

Must be signing for Tranmere then.

eds as sahin has gone what are the chances of modric on loan in his place? he's not getting game time and he is a quality player {Ed002's Note - I would have thought it very, very unlikely.}

To be honest ed002 I would have thought it bloody impossible rather than very unlikely.He cost them about £32 million and I can't believe they'd loan him out.

The Plank

12 Jan 2013 20:39:23
Eds, say we had of kept sahin, he played quality for the rest of the season in his preferred position and the fans really took a shine to him, real would of asked for a high transfer fee and sahin would of wanted the same wage of 100k. FSG are not daft, id say their lucky dortmund came in for him.

JOZLFC {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - sorry.}

What im saying is..I think FSG had a massive part to play in him leaving! the lad is good, we know that...given time and his preferred position he would of been a quality player for us, BR obviously saw something in him. In my opinion FSG were looking ahead, If he had of come good he would of cost a hefty transfer fee and would of wanted the same wages as he is on now

JOZLFC

So FSG got rid of a player just in case he performed too well?
Great logic

Think about it! The lad becomes one of our best players, FSG would have to sign him on massive wages and a big transfer fee!

My god! That is the single most stupid thing I have ever had the misfortune to have read. Firstly, the grammar is so poor it's almost unreadable. Secondly, you are suggesting the owners got rid of a player so they weren't forced into buying him in the future. Surely that would be to the detriment of the team, from now until the season ends.
Give me strength!

To the un named poster...yes that's exactly what im saying! they knew they would have to fork out massive wages etc if he come good and that's the reason we sold him, BR is not a mug...he knows the players best position so why wasnt he played there and given time? If your going to give it the barry atleast sign our post off! {Ed002's Note - This makes no sense at all. There was no option to buy Sahin as part of the loan. Liverpool are not going to play a loanee out of position then cancel his loan at a significant cost to the club just in case he plays well.}

Ed, you know as well as I do Sahin would of been offered to us at the end of the season and would of wanted 100k a week still, that's sturridge and sterling's wages combined, I'm saying if the lad showed the form he is capable of and given more than 3 months, do you really think FSG would of bought him on a high transfer fee and wages?

JOZLFC {Ed002's Note - There is absolutely no guarantee that Sahin would have been offered to Liverpool at all. At the end of the season the norm is to go back to the club for assessment by the coach or, indeed, new coach. Liverpool let him go because he was unhappy about how he was being used and seemingly he was not performing how the manager wanted. There was certainly no thought process that pondered "What if he starts playing well? Christ we can't have that? Let's get rid of him now before the fans demand we buy him because he is playing well."}

Haha! What an person.

Think we will agree to disagree ed, also who keeps calling everyone "an person" it doesn't even make any sense! {Ed001's Note - you might want to disagree, but you are making no sense. There was no guarantee he would be offered to us and we certainly wouldn't have got rid of a player in case he played well! Talk about idiotic to even suggest it.}

ED 002, I know you think im talking boll***s and that's your opinion, I was just trying to see the bigger picture with the way our current transfer policy is.

The whole point i was trying to make was.....say sahin fit into the system and played well...not amazing but good....then real offer him to us for say 15-20m...we then take him on a 3yr deal on his 100k a week. that's a possible 29-34m transfer and wages combined with my guess on a transfer fee.for example.. taking the lower estimate (which i know some will think it should be the higher) in theory we could take sneijder on a 3 year deal at 150k a week, irrelivant of the fact we have added already to the wage structure in sturridge and the sterling contract because we would of done those deals anyway.

JOZLFC {Ed002's Note - None of what you said made any sense to me at all. All the numbers you quote are conveniently made up. There was no option to buy in Sahin's contract, etc. etc.. If Liverpool are going to get rid of players on loan who are playing well because they are worried about them joining the club and being too costly, then by your stance why not get rid of Suarez, who is playing exceptionally well, to ensure he doesn't come looking for a pay rise.}

Ed i was just trying to point out, IF all went well with sahin and taking into account your comments....we would of wanted to buy, why wouldn't we if he was playing well? this would of cost the club atleast 30m based on a low estimate of 15m transfer, a 3yr deal and his current wage. {Ed002's Note - You really need to drop any thought about (a) the finances of football transfers and wages - the numbers you have are simply made up; and (b) any strange scenarios based upon whatif thoughts - I really cannot sensibly answer such stuff.}

12 Jan 2013 20:36:02
been hearing sneider really wants a EPL side to come in for him. liverpool apparently in talks with his reps. if he really wanted to play over here why are none of the big boys talking with him? surely chelski, city, united arsenal would be interested if reports are true he wnts to play over here? also do you think we could make a move for lampard? {Ed002's Note - Don't expect Sneijder. I would doubt Lampard will be joining either.}

12 Jan 2013 21:46:05
We're bigger than Chelsea, City and Arsenal, and a certain other club has a much worse european record than us.

Van Persie and him don't like each other so no to utd, Chelsea & City have far too many players like him already.

12 Jan 2013 19:37:20
Gomis is off to psg then grameiro will sign for lfc

We don't need another striker, we have got 3 first team strikers and i think yesil is pushing for 4th spot now, suarez sturridge borini and yesil, we need a center attacking or winger so am guessing Ince and there might be a surprise but am not holding me breath

I certainly hope not, gameiro is not good enough..

12 Jan 2013 19:30:31
Hi edds, great site. Now that sahin has gone to dortmund do you think that we will buy a new midfield player? Are we linked with any central midfielders? {Ed002's Note - A loan possibly. A chance for the likes of Suso? We will see.}

I'd say we've enough in 6 CM with Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Henderson, Jonjo, Suso.
No point having a CM if he can't get in ahead of either Hendo or Allen. Same if we bring a replacement in. Suso won't get as many games wide in the front 3 now with Sturridge & Borini, so perfect opportunity for him :-)

12 Jan 2013 19:17:11
Ed002 we're the clubs you named quoted a price for Inigo Martinez?

Thanks

Plymouth Red. {Ed002's Note - Not that I recall.}

12 Jan 2013 18:36:17
first time poster love the site any chance of milos krasic joinin would add nice bit of pace to the wing wouldnt break the bank {Ed002's Note - No. He only moved in the summer.}

Reports that FSG are willing to sell Luis Suarez for £40 million.

Ed - any truth in this?

Have FSG lost it with Suarezs behaviour in the same way they lost patience with Dalglish

Is Sow the replacement ??! {Ed002's Note - All Twitter I assume?}

Suarez's behaviour??He has been impeciable this season.

The constant talk if Suarez leaving from fans is terrible, it's starting to sound like they want him to go. He should only be sold if 1. He wants to go and 2. Only if the offer then comes in is good enough.

The Eds have repeatedly said he's signed a new contract and there is interest, that doesn't mean he'll leave though. Of course there will be interest he's a unique player but he's Liverpool's and seems to be enjoying life at Liverpool.

Are one of the agencies that reported this.

And Suarez's behaviour has been far from impeccable.

But it doesn't matter what we think. It is a matter of what FSG think. It's beyond question that Suarez has dragged LFC's through the mire. And this may have affected their opinion.

Suarez is an embarrassment to the Liverpool, no matter his undoubted talent

One word - TWITTER

Suarez is A EMBARRASSMENT?? Every single football fan would have him in there line up if could... He has his faults.. But to say embarrassment?? That is a joke!!id gladly have a full team of Suarez's with his passion for the club/game. Aslong as he doing his job ill stand 1million% behind him.. You all need to get a grip slating our own player!

They say a player is never bigger than the club, but if suarez went we would be nothing and that's the sad truth, the lads carried us all season and do we honestly all think he will stay for 3-4 years trying to build a team on youth? he could walk into any team on the planet and get silverwear, we can't honestly expect him to stay and ride it out, we talk about loyalty but players want winners medals and want to be remembered as winners not loyalty, sorry but that's the truth

How can any Liverpool fan call Suarez an embarrasment?

He is the victim of constant abuse on a regular basis. Fair enough he made a mistake last season with a heat of the moment racist remark, but has since shook hands with Evra and they have both agreed to put it behind them.

Luis gives 100% for LFC in every match, he has declared his love for LFC and he has signed a new contract with the club that he has said he wants to play for for many years.

All this recent stuff about his handball against Mansfield is ridiculous. It is Luis's job to put the ball in the back of the net. If the ball just so happens to hit his hand in the process then it is up to the referee and his assistants to notice this and rule out the goal. It is what they get paid for! So why do they not get as much stick as Luis? When a defender blocks a shot with his arm/hand in the box, why do they not recieve weeks of constant abuse for denying the goal?
Because it is Suarez!

Give the lad a break! I am sick of Liverpool supporters constantly feeling the need to direct abuse toward their own team and individual people within the club. Everyone involved with this club is determined to succeed at Liverpool.

If Suarez got a hattrick tomorrow and the club bought Alonso from madrid i am pretty sure all you dribblers giving the abuse would all of a sudden be saying Suarez is a legend, the owners are amazing and BR is going to get us CL!

It is no wonder 'Big' named players do not want to join this club, with all the abuse the players have to take if things aren't going our way.

Lucas, Downing, Henderson, Carroll, Adam, Suarez, Gerrard, Enrique, Reina and Allen have taken some stick these past seasons mostly from our own fans! All this does is put more pressure on them! If someone tells you that you are bad at something or will never succeed at something then all it is going to do is dent your confidence and prolong your success.

Come on guys.....Support your team!

Red Lee YNWA

I read the article about this last night and there wasn't one quote in the whole story, just someone's point of view I reckon. He did get slated in the comments tho...lol

This BULL gets pumped around by anti FSG and/or anti Rodgers fans who in my view are poison. Sick of their crying pissy moaning. Fans who are still stuck in some type of Rafa purgatory and can't realise we're on the very bottom of the ladder trying to build back stability after a shambles. It's gona take a season or two. FSG being demonised by fans who think the Chelsea / Man City model is the way to go. There'll be more investment in the summer and no senior players will be sold for profits sake. Only if players want out. And all our top senior players singed new long term contracts 6 months ago. So use your head and don't get your information from mindless parasites on forums.

12 Jan 2013 18:25:18
Ed are liverpool interested in signing quagliarella {Ed002's Note - No - but perhaps Quagliarella could be offered to Liverpool as part of a part-exchange deal?}

And as to who are youreferring to please he de?
Magsy {Ed002's Note - What?}

Exchanged with whom, Ed? {Ed002's Note - Well who are Juventus interested in?}

If you are, as I imagine referring to the recently contracted Luis Suarez then I put it to you that Juventus could offer their entire playing squad and it still wouldn't be enough to get Suarez. More chance of Chelsea keeping a manager for more than a few months... {Ed002's Note - Putting aside the astonishingly ignorant point about Suarez, I have no idea why you wish to bring Chelsea in to this. However, I do agree that with the appointment of Benitez Chelsea has now had the same number of managers as Liverpool in the past two an a half years.}

12 Jan 2013 18:12:08
Hi ed's I have a question:

Since the arrival of Sturridge (whom I personally think of a great player)

Will suarez play on the wing Because I think this will be a really bad mistake

Suarez has already proven him in the striking position this season whilst Sturridge hasn't

Do you think Suarez will play on the wing or Sturridge?

Belgian Red {Ed002's Note - Flexibility will be the plan.}

Neither will play on the wing
Why is this so hard to grasp

Chris in Tamworth

Maybe they swap throughout the match.

12 Jan 2013 18:51:16
Or......

So Daniel you think you could be a great player?"

DS: yes

Well the thing is I've got one of the best in the world up front, one of the best ever behind, something coming through the youth system I can't gauge.... fancy playing in the middle of em?

DS: eeeerrrrrm yeah

Still need to be point of attack?

DS: I'll adapt, just give me a decent squad number so I don't look dumb

OK

12 Jan 2013 18:53:39
I don't know why people make this an issue either, suarez doesnt technically play as a striker, he plays all across the front line, sturridge will be far more direct running into the spaces that suarez creates!!

Suarez is a genius at coming in from the wing. Bringing a more direct striker with a conversion rate(from inside the box) like sturridge is a brilliant move by rodgers. There will be plenty of movement but I do believe suarez will drop out wide more and sturridge will be more in the middle
Cudge

Ed002 has been great for transfer info but how could any of the Eds possibly know who will play where?
Bren,

Rodgers ideal formation is 4 3 3, with the front 3 interchanging positions. So they will take in turns who is running the channels and who is playing in the middle.

I honestly believe with Suarez we set up 4312, BR calls it 433 but we play all variations of it. Posters above are spot on, everyone will interchange and lead the lineIf Borini comes back from injury and finds his form, we will have quite a potent strike force with him, Suarez, Sturridge, Downing, and Sterling. Awhile back I didn't want us anywhere near Sturridge, he seemed arrogant and lazy. But if the guy gets his head down and buys into Brendan's plan, I think he will fit into our system.
EMAN34

Suarez in behind Sturridge?

Hearing Downing going out on loan to Sunderland on the web, seems a credible source. Just wondering Ed's why would we loan him, presumably we'd then need to replace him also? Do you think it would be with a view to permanent? There seems to be more talk of outgoings than transfers into the club which seems worrying due to a fairly small squad size. Do you think Ince will be lined up as his replacement? Cheers, JGS. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any loan for Downing being agreed at this time.}

If Downing is to go would Assaidi not be his Re-placement?

Downing isnt going any were.he would never go to Sunderland imagine how upset his beloved Middlesborough would be

If Enrique hadn't got injured and Downing hadn't been featuring so much of late, in multiple positions, then maybe this post would be believable...

I don't believe a loan woul be of any benefit to us. He needs to either stay or go for good. Maybe that depends on the second half of his season, I think his improvement over the last couple of months should mean he stays till summer at least unless someone comes in with a cracking offer.

SideShowBob

Your credible source may not be credible.
Why would Rogers loan out someone who is playing regularly week in week out, that makes no sense. Especially since Enrique got injured and we have one less left sided player.
Total nonsense

Any ideas on how much it would cost to peel Rhodes away from Blackburn? {Ed002's Note - You are clutching at straws. Rhodes will not be moving in January.}

Dont know what planet your off or what your sniffing im from huddersfield seen him play many times he's no where near good enough for the red shirt. made me laugh though.

If Blackburn relegates further, that might be possible. I think. {Ed002's Note - No, Rhodes will not be moving to Liverpool in January.}

How do you know he isn't good enough, I've also watched him many times and if you provide chances he will score, moved up a division this year and still has a one in two strike rate, I honestly think he would be worth a punt. Rob b

12 Jan 2013 17:46:26
heard today we will make a bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer and he seems to be up for that. as he does not want to leave in January. ed have you heard any news on this?

Dom lovelock {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool at this time but Aubameyang has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Manchester City, Manchester United, Zenit St Pete, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs and PSG, probably amongst others. He has said in the past the one day his dream would be to return to play with a great Milan side. I didn't see him leaving the Geoffroy-Guichard in January but I understand that if a significant bid is made that St Et will give it due consideration. Such a bid is being pondered by Fiorentina but a summer move seems more likely.}

Think this would be one of the best moves LFC could make. What a talent! -JM

Dont know who made that James Milner loan rumour up but it would never happen. He is one of Mancini's favourite players, he plays nearly every game and got the best work rate in the prem. Why would Mancini want to loan him out? Stupid rumour.

He's also rubbish, why would we want to sign him..

Milner dosen't play every game for city by no means.

When he plays he runs about like a dog looking for a hole in the fence,,, joey

Yep I agree, average at best!

Mate man city didn't offer him on loan to Liverpool. His representatives did. This is true. But whether it'll happen or not is a different story. He is up for a loan.

Eds, can someone shed some light as to why Liverpool is not trying to sign (or bidding for) sissoko or M'villa? at 20 and 22 years old respectively and both talented midfielders, surely we can't afford to miss out on two bargain opportunities like this who are available at 10 to 11 million combined? does this say anything about the owners finances (keeping in mind the settlement with the blood sucking hicks and gillette), or more worrying about their confidence in rodgers. i highly rate rodgers and believe he has done a fantastic job and hope that he is given the time he deserves.

{Ed002's Note - It is the same reason that Liverpool are not bidding for Torquay's Damon Lathrope and Real Valladolid's Lluis Sastre Reus. It says nothing of the owners finances and there has been no settlement involving FSG and H&G. The status of each player was explained earlier.}

I disagree eds there finances are worse than meets the eye {Ed002's Note - What are you disagreeing with? Just seems like another scaremongering post with no grasp of the subject nor detail.}

Some pillock posted on the Liverpool Echo website yesterday that SSN said H&G had been awarded £140 million in damages.Right after that the Echo site crashed and still isn't working.Liverpool FC are not paying the Yonks anything and any transfer funds are not affected by the case.Despite it being said that details of the settlement are being kept private I hear it was a nominal sum that allows H&G to be able to act as if they haven't wasted a lot of lawyers fees for nothing.

Hey Ed's, is there anything from Liverpools part in Andre-Pierre Gignac? Do you know of any interest in him, his availability? {Ed002's Note - Gignac has not been subject to any interest from Liverpool and will not be moving to Liverpool in January. He had a bad year with DD last year and he struggled with a groin/abductor injury as well.}

I'm not saying that Milner won't come but I believe the rumour is coming from Ian Abrahams (the moose from ) and he hasn't got a single liverpool rumour right, ever.
Remember this is the man who insisted Klopp was nailed on as next liverpool manager.
He has 0 sources

Chris in Tamworth

This is the kind or crap player that i can see arriving another journeyman.

Hehe that's for sure, i moved on as soon as i read that it was he that said it...

Yeah he does talk nonsense for sure. As for Milner in fantasy land...i wouldn't suggest he isn't good enough at all!
He's sort of old fashioned but think he would do very well for us...but won't happen

ed there is a rumour on the net that we have bid for Moussa Sow, have you heard anything? The rumour does then go onto state that he scored 31 goals in 545 match's in two seasons lol so im guessing its probably made up!

cheers
john {Ed002's Note - I have said it seems something that is unlikely in my view. It was discussed at length last week.}

Not the best of scoring rates only 31 in 500+ games, saying that bet he could do with a rest {Ed002's Note - To be fair I suspect there is a typo in the Twitter post or whatever it is.}

545 games in 2 seasons ?

Eds: Apparently, Hamburg have stated that Heung Min Son, would be available for 5 Mil Euros. If so, this would be a steal of a transfer. This kid has massive talent, would bring more of a market (of viewers for LFC), and possibly in the future have great ROI value. I feel like these are the type of deals LFC should make rather than Assaidi's 1 Mil. I'm hopeful for LFC to take shots at players like Son, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, (another run on Ince), and keep firing for loans. Love this month, and am quite hopeful it's a good one. Let's beat the Mancs. YNWA
-JM {Ed002's Note - A number of clubs, including Liverpool, have been looking at Hamburg's Heung Min Son for the past year. Certainly Spurs, Sunderland, Lille and West Ham have had him watched on more than one occasion recently. I would doubt he will be available for a January move but if he were I suspect Spurs might be looking to buy him and I suspect he would cost more than 5M euros.

After a year at St Etienne Aubameyang has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Manchester City, Manchester United, Zenit St Pete, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs and PSG, probably amongst others. He has said in the past the one day his dream would be to return to play with a great Milan side. I didn't see him leaving the Geoffroy-Guichard in January but I understand that if a significant bid is made that St Et will give it due consideration. Such a bid is being pondered by Fiorentina but a summer move seems more likely.}

Eds could it be possible for Seb Coates to go on loan to QPR as they are looking for a CB and would give Seb a bit of exp in the premier league? Thanks
Pops {Ed002's Note - Santos and Palermo have confirmed interest in buying Coates Napoli, Lazio and Sao Paulo are also reportedly interested. Juventus has been mentioned as a possible loan option.}

They've just got Ben Haim

As much as we all like Suarez as a player, if he keeps getting linked with controversies and booed and criticised by those outside LFC and we do not get a top 4 CL qualification position being realistic good business would be to let him got to say Real Madrid for £40/45m and with BR's contacts buy Michu from Swansea for £15m/20m and use the rest of the funds for a further 2 to 3 quality players this will add depth without weakening us too much.

Eric Cantona, Ronaldo, John Terry, Mario Ballotelli... Players with talent but all have/had issues with media/referees etc..
None were sold because of it, none were not played because of it, ALL have been defended/supported and cheered by their own managers/clubs/fans!
If we are ever to get back to the heady heights of winning premier leagues and champions leagues then we need to KEEP players like Suarez!
At any cost!
ItsNotRocketScience

Why would we care what those outside our club think {Ed002's Note - Whilst it matters not to you it is a big deal for the business who have to keep the sponsors happy.}

Totally disagree. Suarez is exactly the type of world class player we need. Definitely should not go. Michu is doing well this season, but for me he is like Ba and that player who did well at Bolton, a few seasons ago. He's not top quality. Suarez is excellent every season, he is a real talent. LFC need some special players, especially as Gerrard is getting older...

Forget the money, look what the sale of Torres did for us? We wasted the money. Unfortunately top quality players cost money. You couldn't get 3 for what £25m. Sturridge was £12m

Ant

15-20 million for Michu?? Are you feeling ok?

They bought him for 2 million!!

And why would we sell Suarez??

What, and lose the best striker in the premiership and replace him with a first season striker that will get worked out?!?!? There's no working out Suarez as he hasn't got a clue what he gonna do!!

Are you for real chap, Suarez is an amazing player and if he were to go then the fee would be around the £50m mark as he is one a very few players who am consistent on both the Domestic & International scene, I believe that he will stay at least until the end of next season, people keep forgetting that he only recently signed a new long term contract at the club.

BigD

Yeah it's as simple as that mate! First Real come asking for him waving a cheque for £45 million and then Swansea say "You want Michu? No problem!"Then we find clubs willing to sell us 3 quality players for the £25 million we have left over.Oh and you've never factored wages into your figures.Stick to Fantasy Football mate that's dead easy compared to reality.

The Plank

What a stupid fan you are, surez has said the stick he gets makes him play even better and if you think michu is a better player that suarez then you have not taken your happy pills, suarez has just signed a long contract and said he is very happy here, more happier than you are to have him here, i bet you think he deserves all the stick he gets, and that you agree with fergie when he said about rooneys bad behaviour, he said " if you take that away from him he would not be the player he is " fergie is terrified of suarez because he know he is world class and can win us games on his own, abit like he has done in a few games this season, start supporting suarez or stop moaning about him he is a liverpool player so get behind your team, plus the fact he is a world class player, and i bet he scores more goals because he is not the only striker at the club now he has some help in the form of sturridge, and did you know he has set up more goals than RVP or any other player in the prem, and you want us to sell him because some fans from other teams don't like him grow a pair and support what he is doing for us, if we had it your wasy we would not have suarez and be fighting relegation, because we would not have his goals,

unlike you i sign my posts

mickey b
JFT96 {Ed002's Note - Actually you sign very few of your posts.}

12 Jan 2013 17:30:22
I would not call myself a fan if I were you. Not a Liverpool fan anyway...
We have to stick for our own. Suarez is Liverpool inside and out. He loves the club.
Whiskey Nose would love for us to get rid of Suarez... this is why he keeps stirring the rubbish. And for Liverpool to sell him would in essence capitulation.
Either you are a Liverpool fan and you give 100% support to the best striker in the league and you can just go support the Man Utd... Simple as.
PowerLFC

Going on the logic and numbers that you state, I'm wondering which 3 quality players you would be able to sign for the remaining £25million of the budget you proposed.

Additionally, while Michu is a good player, who is having a fantastic season, he will not create goals for himself and the team like Suarez does.

Don't buy michu

Who does this man support ? Unreal these fellas sell Suarez and buy michu what on earth are you talking about!

12 Jan 2013 17:52:59
I want to rage about the ridiculous Luis statement but it looks like my fellow reds have done that.

So lets get down to Business - Michu - leading scoring charts with the afforemention Luis, the guy who's winning an EPL on his own (RVP), and a crocked forward that just got bought by one of the richest teams in the world and is keeping out a £50M striker.

What makes you think they'd let him go for anything less than 35M - a no-9 having a purple patch!

Why sell Suarez when he is happy at Liverpool.

If these yonks sell suarez they will go the same way as hicks and gillette straight back over the pond liverpool fans will NOT put up with anymore sh*t from so called business men so come on fergie reveal that its you whos posting on our site and pi$$ off back to your own page

12 Jan 2013 19:13:48
PS - I hope you were Luis's agent testing the water. Not going anywhere thanks!

The moment we sell Suarez is the moment Liverpool as a "Top" football club dies. Suarez is the only player capable of being called "Top" in our team never mind the current Gerrard, Agger, Skrtel, Reina or Lucas. Suarez is worth to Liverpool what Messi is to Barca and Ron to RM. Ferguson knows that should we build a team around Suarez in the coming years, we will win the premier league title outright. Unless Barca offer us Messi in exchange for Suarez, or lets be realistic, let them offer us Sanchez, Delofeu with no buy-back ties and some cash for him, then only might we consider something and note the CONSIDER.

He is a superb player and - whatever the causes - big box office. Ed02 made the point about ensuring the sponsors are happy. Maybe cynical but you could point to the old adage about 'no such thing as bad publicity' ...... {Ed002's Note - You perhaps wish to consider the events of Standard Chartered's AGM.}

Michu will be a one season wonder at Swansea. No one wants Saurez to go! KiwiRed

And yet despite the AGM he remains at the club and will probably get a starting spot against United .....

12 Jan 2013 16:24:41
Hearing alot of talk about downing to Sunderland and Milner to lfc!! Any truth?? Cheers eds! {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything about Milner.}

A mate who is a City fan has just text me saying we have apparently asked to take Milner on loan in the place of Nuri Sahin. Would be extremely surprised really, any eds got any feeling whether he may come in {Ed002's Note - No.}

Hopefully by no you mean no he won't be coming, I really don't rate him as a player, hard working but doesn't offer enough

No chance Downing is better than Milner

I can't understand the negativity towards Milner, he is strong, two footed and has a brilliant shot and cross, he could play middle 3 or front 3, would be a great signing in my eyes. Wasted talent at Man City

12 Jan 2013 16:22:16
milner on loan?

Liverpool to sign James Milner on loan from Manchester City..

The Moose.... clearly BS

12 Jan 2013 16:15:23
hi ed, great site,,, have you heard anything bout liverpool been offered a number 7 premier league player on loan,, and if so have you heard who it was ?thanks {Ed002's Note - Someone has suggested Miulner but I know nothing of it.}

12 Jan 2013 16:13:26
So milners coming in on loan eds? This is according to ian abrahams
Nick from birmingham {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it Nick.}

Well he's been offered to us by his agent but city arnt keen yet
Nick from birmingham

I would be very surprised if 1. Milner joined as his wages would be very high and he also snubbed us to join M.Cty. 2. That M.Cty would allow him to leave on loan. 3. He is another midfield player that we don't really need although he is a good player we have Lucas, Gerrard, Allen and then Henderson & Shelvey, surely if we are going to bring in a new midfielder then it has to be someone who will get us goals as our midfield minus Gerrard does not score goals.

BigD

12 Jan 2013 16:05:15
Ed02 i know you suggested we should be interested in Galatasaray's Inan, would he be readily available if Sneijder does complete his proposed deal.
Because he could be amazing in a red shirt.
Si {Ed002's Note - I understand the summer is more likely, but as you say, if Sneijder does make the move it is possible he could be available now.}

Hi eds do you rate this inan never seen him play myself would he be one for first team or squad cheers

grego {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I am not one to "rate" players Grego.}

12 Jan 2013 16:00:40
Where has all this Torres talk come from Eds? Are Chelsea willing to sell in January ? In my opinion he'd be better going back to Spain and I'm sick of the site of him anyway {Ed002's Note - The Torres talk is relentless as so many folks can only look back and cannot look to the next Torres, not the old one who has struggled in England for the past three years.}

We wouldn'nt have anywhere near enough money to sign the new Torres (£22m) if we found him.

That's why so many look back and wished for just a little of the quality we had.

But your missing "THE" most important point, Torres left us(LFC), for us to even want to take him back, he would have to openly say he wants to play for liverpool, we are not asking for torres to get on he's knees, but he left because he didn't want to play for us, im tired of people forgetting this, we don't need players who don't want to play for us, and we don't need to give him a second chance, and we don't owe him anything, the fact that people keep talking about wanting him back, i find it embarecing, stop crawling for someone who doesnt give a rubbish about you, the same realy goes for walcott he's been using us to get a better contract stop buying into all this please FFS

12 Jan 2013 15:45:24
hiya eds i know you must be pi&&ed off with all the torres talk but if you remember when he was with us old whiskey nose was a tad bit jealous because they never got him at man utd ( bit similar to suarez now )do you think liverpool supporters would want him back rather than him going to old trafford if they were to put a bid in for him, because ferguson would probably get him back to his best. could be pretty awesome with rooney and van persie.Iam sure i would want him here rather than there. {Ed002's Note - I really don't see Torres moving to Manchester United or Liverpool. You really need to look to the future rather than wanting Benitez, Alonso, Torres, Mascherano and Degen etc. back.}

Id love mascherano back! not bothered about the rest of them

When are you lot gonna get a grip and forget about a player who clearly did not want to play for the shirt.

Torres is no longer a world class striker for starters, so get your head out your arse and support the squad and manager we have now.

GoodKopBadKop

You have to remember that Ed002 always talks in "Chelsea" speak and is therefore never going to give a view based on Liverpool's well-being. As has been said, take what they say with a pinch of salt. {Ed002's Note - So you think I should tell you that Torres will be moving to Liverpool? About half of your posts are simply complaining about me - Christ what an embarrassing jerk you are.}

Ha ha degan, what about insua and poulson and konchesky lol

12 Jan 2013 16:15:34
Thanks ED02, good summary of my thoughts too.

We've been a little lucky as a club that Rush came back and did great, Fowler came back and at least has a swansong, even Bellamy came back and was important.

Alonso would be a great romantic return, but should he stiffle JJ, Lucas and a developing Henderson? Not sure it would be constructive.

We do tend to look backwards as Liverpool fans - both at past players and other options (Schnieder). I'm not against bringing in an experienced player to improve the side (Gary Mac was inspired) maybe we need to look further than our own players tho, and at players that are still hungry.

And I don't know what player out there meets that requirement - that's what would make it a great signing.

KJ

Degen, you kill me..........

Degen would be massive

Yes bring back degan, i can remember those nites when he use marude down the wing legend. ah

Degen lol, brilliant! :-)

Yeah Whisky breath got Michael Owen back to his best, healed his hamstrings, and made him EPL leading goal scorer again didn't he? Oh no he didn't did he? And he couldn't make Torres great again either!

The Plank

Sounds like you have been on the whiskey with suggestions anyone would ever want degen back, we could get his brother also

ed is there any interest in signing sergi roberto on loan {Ed002's Note - There is interest from another club in buying Sergi Roberto but he certainly will not be moving to Liverpool on loan in January.}

12 Jan 2013 15:29:52
Hi eds wars the chances of alonso now sahin has gone?!?

I'm thinking sign and will be announced after Monday if we win

Daniellambretta {Ed002's Note - The same ast they were.}

Sorry I meant to say Ince will sign if we win tomorrow !

Don't you think alonso is a possiblity?

Daniellambretta {Ed002's Note - Not this month Daniella.}

So if we lose he won't sign ?

Right then ........

12 Jan 2013 15:27:51
Is there any interest in nathan redmond? He's still very young quick and could be a player for the future. I understand birmingham have money bother so could be cheap?
Northern deano {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in Birmingham's Nathan Redmond from Liverpool although both West Brom and Fulham have made enquiries. Although unconfirmed, I understand Newcastle United may well be interested.}

12 Jan 2013 15:26:56
Hey eds, I've heard that we may be entering into some sort of deal with Palermo with regard Coates and llicic. Have you heard anything that could validate this? I'm sure the topic has been discussed already but do you think the reports of a bid for Sow are real or purely lazy journalism? Thanks
Hutch {Ed002's Note - Both Milan clubs, Napoli and Juventus have an interest in Ilicic with Napoli and Inter likely favourites if he does come up for sale. England seems an unlikely destination although Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa have looked at the player in the fairly recent past. I know nothing of a deal including Coates. As I have said, Sow seems very unlikely to me.}

12 Jan 2013 14:56:06
Not a rumour more a question, BBC sport reporting Sunderland interested in moussa sissoko and could be available for as little as 2.5 million, rather than Toulouse losing him for free in the summer, just wondering if any chance of Liverpool rekindling any past interest now sahin loan has ended and at that price sissoko is an absolute bargain

Thanks for any reply
MikeCass {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any confirmation of interest from Sunderland, but Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has previously attracted interest from Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Liverpool and probably Napoli. A couple of years ago Damien Comolli went as far as letting Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool saw Sissoko as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard - but for some reason the club failed to make the final push to buy the player. Sissoko remains available (as he has done for two years) and Juventus, Newcastle, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow and Spurs have enquired - with a tentative agreement initially being reached with Newcastle and Juventus over the price. Juve probably have the edge right now but would much prefer a pre-contract for a summer move whilst Toulouse look to renew his contract. AC Milan may well push for a January cash move.}

12 Jan 2013 14:52:40
Sky have posted on their website say we are now top odds on signing Fernando Lorente, is that true? {Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

Herd lorente was in england for a break, not sure if he's been speaking to any clubs though

Sky also mentioned that nobody has spent money on this bet!

12 Jan 2013 14:44:28
Hi ed 002 - as you are a Chelsea fan (i think) and someone who is in the know.. What is going on with Torres. Are the press rumours true that he has stated to his team mates that he wished he was still at Anfield. If so what do you make of this. Is he trying to engineer a move out of the bridge to Liverpool or to another club. Just seems to be a strange thing to do if you have no intention of leaving. Would welcome your views. Cheers red nick {Ed002's Note - The situation remains that if he wants to leave and an acceptable offer is made the club will not stand in his way. I have no idea what he has said to the other players but I would expect him to leave in the summer.}

Thanks ed 002 - red nick

Would we take him back with open arms??

I would say he's a 15 million pound player nowadays. What do you think

I think if his replacement costs £7.5m no one should be paying any more than that for him.

North London Red

Have any clubs enquired about Inigo Martinez, Real Sociedads young centre back he looks a real talent.

If I remember correctly Sociedad also have money difficulties.

Plymouth Red. {Ed002's Note - If Real Sociedad decide to sell the kid he will be expensive. Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid looked at him last season.}

12 Jan 2013 13:48:46
Do any of the Eds know if a deal has been agreed with Tom Ince? Personally, i don't rate the player and would be looking for someone more established in a top league

I think this business with Cole going and Sahin going back to Germany, signals intent to free up money to get another 2 - 3 players in. I also still think that Downing will be gone as well

My hopes, although slim, are that we can get Walcott and possibly 1 or 2 others, but it's looking like he will stay at Arsenal.
RD {Ed002's Note - My understanding is there is no agreement at this time although I still expect it to be. I see Macca says that a deal has been done for a few days.}

Danny Dichio who is a pundant on Soccer Central here in canada has come out and said that there will be a merry go round of transfers involving liverpool, newcastle and west ham united.

Dichio says that West Ham are unhappy with Carrol at the moment and are looking to put an end to his loan spell.

Liverpool are NOT interested in having Carrol back however Newcastle are. And Liverpool are interested in Hatem Ben Arfa (as long as he can get fit by the end of Jan)

Now on this show the pundits rarely say that these things are "done deals" or "very close to happening" but Dichio has has both in the same episode!

Take of it what you want!

Canadian Red

Would love to have Ben Arfa at LFC once the merry-go-round stops!

I hope this happens ben area is class

Newcastle will not part with ben arfa!! get real will you

How would Dichio know anything of the transfer activity of 3 clubs he has no involvement in from across the atlantic

Ben Arfa for Carroll i would settle for that.

If we got a straight swap with carroll for ben arfa id rip their arm off.

Cudge

What I take of it is that an almost identical post was made yesterday and 1 of the eds pointed out that Liverpool have no interest in Ben Arfa and I will point out that Carroll, whether WHU are happy with him or not, is injured and will be for a good while yet.Dichio's welcome to his opinions but I can't see anything coming of it.

The Plank

Andy carroll cannot sign for another epl club this season

Probably the reason he's a pundit in Canada rather than england

Please ed002, if we assume that we agree a deal with chelsea for torres, how much will he ask for wages? will he accept to cut wages? thank you
El Capitano {Ed002's Note - Wages is something we would rather not discuss. However, Liverpool has not made any approach to Cherlsea about Torres.}

If we were interested in Torres we would have signed him instead of Sturridge, we no longer need a striker and one like Torres will not be signed as he is not a versatile Rodgers striker

Its time to come home torres

Ed are any teams currently looking at Honda? There was rumours about a month ago but it all seems to have gone a bit quiet.
Rnred {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. This summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool (and Arsenal) related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving in the summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. If you were to ask if I expect Honda to move to Liverpool in January the answer would be probably not.}

A friend of mine in who is a member of the Japanese sports media has been insistent that Honda will join atletico for free when his contract expires, he's rarely been wrong before and is friends with a number of the Japanese national squad so I'd make it good information.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - It is possible - but still a year away.}

12 Jan 2013 12:10:06
Great work on the site EDs, on the subject of Jeffren, is there any chance we will sign him now that wages for Cole and Sahin are freed up, or is a loan our only option, cheers

Berger King {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has made an enquiry about taking Jeffren Suarez on loan in January but it has gone rather quiet. During the summer window Liverpool, Sevilla and Napoli all showed an interest in a loan for Jeffren after his first season at Sporting Lisbon was impacted by injury. Despite rejecting loan moves in the summer he has now fallen out of favour in Lisbon following some poor performances meaning a loan might be now feasible in January. However, given (a) he is not playing well, (b) Barcelona retain and option on him, and (c) he has a ridiculously high release clause in his contract, it would be near impossible to sell him on the Iberian peninsula and it may be tough to sell him elsewhere right now.}

I really like that Ed 002 added "Iberian Pennusila" to that post. It really classes it up. I like it every time I read it.

-Fresh {Ed002's Note - It is a critical and correct point.}

12 Jan 2013 16:26:25
The "wages freed up debate" - we all think that both Nuri and Cole were on around 100K. If they still had 1/2 year each on their contracts it's £5M in a year (or more realistic 2.5M since they left mid-season). That's assuming no severence fees.

So is £2.5 best spent in upping a bid for someone like W.Schnieder. Or signing Raheem to a better 5 year contract. Or a loan fee?

We're reading too much into singular players being removed - it's nice to have a lower wage bill, but consider the other point. Players coming through (or being signed) don't feel slighted at players beinging on 6 figures a week. If we stick to this strategy for 1/2 windows we may be a really strong force. Please no marquee signings!

12 Jan 2013 11:56:18
Do any of the eds rate son heung min? Or have Liverpool shown any interest? He looks a brilliant young Asian attacker got great work ethic, very versatile, and might not cost a huge amount.

Hakunamatada {Ed002's Note - A number of clubs, including Liverpool, have been looking at Hamburg's Heung Min Son for the past year. Certainly Spurs, Sunderland, Lille and West Ham have had him watched on more than one occasionrecently. I would doubt he will be available for a January move.}

12 Jan 2013 09:30:02
Liverpool are monitoring Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko, 22, who is out of contract in the summer but could move to the Anfield for £2.5m in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are believed to be actively seeking a replacement for Nuri Sahin who departed for Dortmund yesterday.

Hi Ed's, Great Site. Is there any chance of us going in for Yann M'Vila or Moussa Sissoko?, seems crazy that they are young, both internationals and up for relatively cheap money. They seem to tick all of the boxes that FSG are looking for in players. So why are we not we being widely linked with them?. {Ed002's Note - M'Vila no. Spurs, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Newcastle, QPR, Zenit, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus have all shown a interest in M'Vila over the past year and it was thought that perhaps even PSG and Barcelona would become interested as well - although the well publicized issues have probably put pay to that. However, he was there for the taking of Arsenal should they make an offer that is acceptable to Rennes but his recent issues with his National coach has made Arsenal think again. Spurs put an offer on the table - a 15M euro bid which was rejected, something Rennes now regrets. Zenit is another club who remain interested and QPR would look to attract him to London but I don't see that as a viable option although he will be watched again in the match against Bordeaux tonight - as will a young striker. If he were to be available to move this winter, there is going to be no shortage of interest but I suspect he would still be happy with a move to Arsenal or Newcastle.

Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has previously attracted interest from Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Damien Comolli went as far as letting Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool saw Sissoko as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard - but for some reason the club failed to make the final push to buy the player. Sissoko remains available (as he has done for two years) and Juventus, Newcastle, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow and Spurs have recently enquired - with a tentative agreement initially being reached with Newcastle and Juventus over the price. Juve probably have the edge if any move is delayed to teh summer as they would much prefer a pre-contract for a summer move. Whilst Toulouse look to renew his contract, AC Milan may well force the matter and push for a January cash move.}

I can confirm that Milan are looking at sissoko to replace boateng who they are unhappy with due to his refusal to continue to play in recent fixture despite the public backing of him. It isn't the first time the Milan PR team and executive board have been unhappy with his actions.

As of a few days ago Sneijder's agent Soren Lerby contacted Liverpool as the player would move to us, talks have got really close, which is a surprise, however at the moment it looks like FSG have failed us yet again when we were pushing against an open door, this has to be a disaster if a world class player slips through our fingers when we had every chance. It's not over yet but looks like it to me. Thanks ed's, keep up the great work.

Why many feel we need Wesley is beyond me. He's too expensive, and probably injury prone. Plus he doesn't defend well. I'd prefer Benat.

And you heard this from?? The club? His agent? Sneijder? Or was twitter?

Do you know how much his wages would be? So before you say FSG have failed us get the some concrete facts first.

Sorry to be short it just annoys me when people have ago at the owners or BR about failing to sign a player, when 9 times out of 10 we were never in for that player in the first place.

SA

Who really cares? his form has been pretty uneven to say the least for quite a while now, is asking for huge wages, etcetera...there have to be better options than him, no wonder teams aren't lining up to get him to sign

What proof have you got that this would be a "disaster". We have missed out on better and more affordable players in the past and survived.

Dreary pessimists like you would be better off finding someone else to support. Try the boat race and you will have a guaranteed 50% chance of success each year.

Then how about you stump up the transfer fee and wages? What? You're not? Guess you've failed liverpool too then yeah?

Talk about a lack of common sense! You see only the glitz and glamour associated with a big name and automatically want want want.

If Chelsea sign Falcao in this window, Liverpool will launch a loan bid for Fernando Torres with an option to buy at the end of the season at around £15 million. Brendan Rogers thinks he could get the best out of him.

Lucy Lou Lou

Sorry Lucy
It's Nando no no

Would'nt it be great chelsea with ba and falcao and we end up with there two crap strikers...

12 Jan 2013 09:27:50
Any chance of Michu? Would love to see him at Liverpool. {Ed002's Note - An approach for him by another club saw a very high fee quoted.}

What was the fee ed?

Plymouth Red. {Ed002's Note - 30M euros.}

Ed what kind of figure was it? He definitely deserves it. Top player, very Falcao-esque

Who was the club ed? Atletico Madrid? {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Any idea what that fee was ed and who the club was?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - See above.}

Im pretty sure swansea will let him go to us like they did allen!! As if people need to wake up and stop dreaming honestly

Hes worth around 14million id say, he's not that good to be fair, he just out shines the swansea squad because he is there best player, if he was to move to a bigger team i.e a top 6 club in the league he wouldn't cut it

Good on Swansea. I always find it funny that teams go after a player who just moved because he is having success. Michu was available to all for a low fee in the summer and now teams want him for a low fee in the winter. *SMH*

Any further news on the loan front i.e Jeffren etc Ed002?

Cheers,

Kosovo Joe {Ed002's Note - Nothing right now Joe.}

Lot of questions going around about snjneider eds!
Surely he is the bit of class Liverpool need? At 28 he's got plenty of years ahead of him. The wage bill has been cut down alot since the summer so surely we can afford to offer him a deal? If we are to keep up with the other big teams and fight for the top 4 we need to sign big world class players with experience aswell ? I sure Liverpool are and will always be an attraction to big players out there. By all means bringing in young talent is good but we need the experience of someone like sneijder now! Is there any hope or rumour that Liverpool are interested in sneijder or any other top players out there now or in the summer? Could you name a few players of interest? Cheers eds {Ed002's Note - Sneijder will be moving, possibly this weekend, but not to Liverpool. The summer is a long way off.}

12 Jan 2013 08:08:57
Is that any chance of butland? Seems good for us! {Ed002's Note - Whilst Liverpool has spoken with Butland's agent there has been no offer from the club to Birmingham City. Additionally, I would consider Butland a high-risk move if Liverpool were to look to him as a first choice goalkeeper at this time. However, Birmingham will have to generate some cash this month to keep the club going and selling Butland, their most saleable player, would provide that money. Birmingham have already rejected a £6 million offer from Southampton. Whilst Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have all scouted Butland this season, Everton (if they can find the cash) and Fulham are best placed to strike a deal.}

12 Jan 2013 11:57:32
We have been approached by James Milner agent for a possible loan deal.
Worth taking a chance given his experience.

12 Jan 2013 07:55:05
Liverpool are set to sign veteran irish midfielder Chris Doughty from Drogheda United, he is apparently an up and coming coach and is in demand by a few EPL clubs but wants to play for another year With Liverpool offering him a 1 year deal to secure him as a coach the year after, but apparently his agent Kevin Cameron is demanding a high wage for him due to his coaching skills. Watch this space its a done dal

There is a big difference between coaching in the Airtricity League and the EPL mate. We should poach Mick Wallace from Wexford Youths while we're at it.....he builit a brand new 2, 500 capacity stadium and training complex on his own in Ferrycarraig for Wexford Youths ...surely with us looking to re-develop Anfield he would be a huge asset along with this guy from Drogheda

RUBBISH!

The Plank

Are you mental?

This sounds almost too unbelievable to be true.

So when's the unveiling?

TSP

You clown and what position will take in management.

KUMBER

Any chance your chris Doughty?

Ha ha. 1 year playing deal. He wouldn't get a game with any liverpool team. He might aswell start the coaching instead of wasting a year.

Pure nonesense. Watch this space. This will be pure nonsense.

I've just spoken to my boss Tony Yore who is also a director of Drogheda and he has said that Chris has been to Liverpool twice recently - but only as a fan!

There's absolutely no mileage in this fabrication my friend I'm afraid.

Hi Ed001 & Ed002. This is for you. After Torres left there were some murmurs (on these pages) that part of the reasons were some conflicts with other players. Before yesterday I read somewhere that Sahin felt some conflict with another player, so he was frozen out of the team and he left too. What's your opinion? I'm asking because of the recent noise about Torres coming back (even though I doubt he would ever be let back in) and this morning's story somewhere about Suarez moving on in the summer if CL doesn't happen. Am worried about the team not having sufficient backup for scoring goals. Thanks. ra1969 {Ed002's Note - Sahin had raised concerns with Morais about how he was being used by Brendan Rodgers - it is that which led to the move. If Suarez were to meove, I do not see Torres as the answer for Liverpool.}

12 Jan 2013 13:53:49
well turan is a massive lfc fan so we could get him on the cheap.

Thanks Ed002 ;-) . I agree with you. Even if Torres were to come back, I doubt he would be able to fill Suarez's shoes now. We've seen it many times that even the highest level of players ( Kaka comes to mind) take a couple of seasons sometimes to recover from injury or stubborn bad form. ra1969

EDS:
The Carroll (back to Anfield) only to be shipped back to Newcastle news has been ramped up the past few days. I know Ben Arfa is currently injured, but is he the type of player that LFC would be targeting? if so maybe this isn't all just BS.
-JM {Ed002's Note - Andy Carroll is a a loan-to-buy deal at West Ham for the full season. Ben Arfa will not be moving to Liverpool this month.}

Also when will people learn! Carroll is not allowed to play for a third club this season, so won't be moving anywhere this month!

Bbc reporting that Swansea bidding 7 mill for ince, know anything about this edd's ?
Thanx
Essex lad {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of a bid being made by Swansea at this time. However, he is the sort of player Swansea are looking for so interest is not out of the question.}

If Swansea have bid 7M then Blackpool would only get about 4.55m due to sell on fees so if we bid 5m then surly we would be making a better offer
Bilverstone
YNWA
JFT96

Even if they did bid £7 million for him, from what has been reported in the press about the sell on clause due to us on Ince's sale and the bonus due to Ince himself, we'd only need to offer them £4.25 million to match their bid. A £5 million bid from us is worth roughly to Blackpool what an £8 million bid is from any other club. Maybe on top of that though, we'd need to pay a little top up of about £300,000 to the player. Hopefully one of the Ed's can correct me if I'm wrong. {Ed002's Note - I really have no idea about his contract.}

Eddie 002. Damien Comolli revealed on that there is a big sell on clause-reported 30-35%
Bilverstone

12 jan 2013 04:29:28
did we get any loan fee from sahin deal {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not loaned Sahin, Real Madrid has.}

I think he meant by cancelling the loan did we get some of the loan fee back from madrid {Ed002's Note - Liverpool could not simply cancel the loan as they would have needed to continue to pay Sahin's wages after signing him on a season long loan for £4.4M plus x% of his wages, insurance, fees etc.. They are not due a refund on the player.}

12 Jan 2013 03:24:03
Eds am I right that we can now sign two players on loan now?
-kop warrior {Ed002's Note - Correct.}

Hi eds,
What's the situation with luis suarez?
Some papers reported luis is reconsidering his future...
Just wanted to know your verdict on this.
cheers
Pragyan {Ed002's Note - He had the opportunity to force a move in the summer and decided to sign a new contract. I would not expect him to move in January.}

Yeah and the newspapers will keep writing articles like this every transfer window.If he'd wanted a move he could have asked for one before signing a long term contract so why decide he wants to go 6 months later?

The Plank

Looks like the Fergie Free Press is at it again stirring up trouble and trying to unsettle the squad ahead of tomorrows game

12 Jan 2013 01:22:12
Just a quick question. Is sahins leaving more to do with it simply not working out for the lad and we are just cutting our losses or do you expect it to be a freeing up of wages ahead of a new midfield signing (Other than the potential move for Tom Ince)

Eoghan, Cor {Ed002's Note - It was his being displeased with where and how he was being used.}

12 Jan 2013 01:18:57
Frank Lampard, Heung Min Son and Moussa Sow to join before the transfer window close.

I'll bet we sign none of them!

The Plank

I'll be happy if we sign Heung Min Son.

12 Jan 2013 00:09:46
Eds you have always stated that sturridge , ince and one on loan .
But with cole sahin and talk of coates going, do you feel we have strengthened in the window i say this as rodgers has said in the past that we have a small squad. If it stays like this we will have a smaller one.
Ps all the talk of torrres wanting to come back. I for one would take him on a free transfer only. That would be good business .
Marker {Ed002's Note - I think you will find if you add three and take three away it will be the same size squad, not smaller. However, if Coates does indeed manage to get his move it is possible that the club could look towards a replacement. A kick in teh teeth for teh youngsters? Perhaps.}

3 in and 3 out . In what way does that strengthen our squad . Do the maths . I doesnt .
Marker

If you get rid of 3 fringe players tho and bring in 3 that could push for 1st team then the squad is stronger in quality. Agreed not numbers but quality is what's needed not a load of average joes

Hi ed,

Do you know if there is any interest in south american players.

Thanks {Ed001's Note - yes, that is why we have a scouting team out there.}

Nice smart response there eds. but apart from Lucas we seem to be one of the only top teams in europe who never buy from brazil. sure they only produce the best players in the world

...Sorry, never commented on here before, but Ed001 that was an hilarious response.

Good Evening all!

News for you all..

Liverpool will definately be bringing in 1 more player for the position of forward/winger role

Liverpool are also working on bringing a top drawer attacking midfielder to the club in next coming weeks but i don't see it happening until the summer transfer window. Liverpool are trying to set the foundation for this player deal either this window or set up for next window in the summer..

Thank me when it happens..

As you probably notice I have never posted on the site before..

Local {Ed001's Note - except that you have, under the name Jaws and under the name Jambomb, oh and also under the name Red......}

Downing to qpr and Coates on loan with qpr January watch this space Adan turan coming in

Will watch the space but since you don't leave even a pen name like I do we won't be able to blame you when neither of these outgoing moves happens and neither will Turan join us in all likelyhood.

Downing is going nowhere in his current form.

Hi eds just wondering have we ever shown any interest in Scott Sinclair? He doesn't seem to be getting a look in at City {Ed001's Note - not since he joined City, thankfully.}
