reports that we are interested in Andrija Zivkovic. any truth to this?

Believable1 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - Partizan Belgrade's Andrija Zivkovic has been of sustained interest to Atletico Madrid, Fenerbahce and Chelsea with Valencia, Manchester City, Arsenal, PSG, Dortmund, Spurs, Benfica and Cagliari all watching the player. Chelsea were looking to sign Zivkovic in the summer and send him on loan, but it is Atletico who are trying hard to complete a January deal - but be wary of complex ownership issues involving Pini Zahivi needing to be resolved first.

I am not aware of any declared interest from Liverpool.}

Hi Ed1 or 2,

just a quick ask on your opinion. Vidic has been released by Inter, could a short term deal be done to plug the CB gap?
Got to be better option than Caulker or paying over the odds in Jan.

Believable1 Unbelievable37

{Ed001's Note - no.}

12 Jan 2016 18:18:55
Already want to replace Caulker?

Agree15 Disagree2

13 Jan 2016 08:48:10
No, just wanting an experienced leader for the back line. Would be cheap and certainly has to be a better level than Caulker.
We are missing leaders around the pitch and I feel Vidic could inspire some of the youngsters.

Agree1 Disagree9

{Ed001's Note - I do not rate Caulker, but Vidic's legs had gone before he left Man Utd, they are not going to have magically come back now.}

Hi all,

Long time follower of this page. great to see the transfer window open. Looks like the Steven Caulker deal is done. I hope he is there just to fill the bench!

Anyhow, have LFC and interest in Andros Townsend from Spurs? Good finisher, bit of pace, winger, team player etc. Would be a good addition to our team (maybe not always first choice tho! )

Believable2 Unbelievable36

12 Jan 2016 13:36:54
He is truly awful, so let's hope not.

Part of the reason Soldado looked so poor for Spurs.

12 Jan 2016 14:30:39
Oh well you better believe it its a done deal. As you see sly sports sometimes get it spot on an sometimes the eds dont!

Why would we sign Townsend, whose been rejected by Spurs and QPR? ;)

Is that Spurs comment a joke? If it isn't I don't understand it?

He has a experience and could do a job. would be cheaper than looking into the European market.
Last chance salon but maybe we have to many players like that 😂.

Hi Ed002

Looks like the Caulker deal is fact and will very soon be complete and he will probably be at Melwood safto.

Did you not see or here of this one coming mate until news broke this morning? Bit of a strange one really as its come from nowhere and like has been said he is terrible?

Believable6 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing about it but if Southampton agree to help Liverpool scrape the bottom of the barrel then I am sure something can be done.}

12 Jan 2016 12:32:35
Things really become that desperate?

Agree6 Disagree3

12 Jan 2016 12:41:25
Whether your for or against this happening I wouldn't get too excited yet. Pato was supposed to be done before Arsenal game to remember, before it was found to be pants.

12 Jan 2016 12:37:12
Ed002, you nailed it right there.

Agree4 Disagree5

Think this will happen. Exactly the type of nonsense we like to do in the transfer market.

12 Jan 2016 13:04:53
It's confirmed. Caulker on loan done deal folks.

Agree4 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 13:12:38
Its on the official LFC site Ed. I don't get it. Its a head scratcher for me. Of all the CB's they could have pursued, it this one. Hmmmmmm.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 13:13:54
Not sure how you can explain this one?! Surely klopp can't of watched caulker enough to take him on loan?! Weird one. we really are in a mess.

Agree3 Disagree2

12 Jan 2016 13:17:15
I don't really get why this is a silly move. We need some cover and Klopp has always stated he wants this season to assess his squad. I think it makes sense. Caulker has experience, won't be first choice just cover, and a sensible decision to buy a new CB can be made in the summer.

Agree17 Disagree1

12 Jan 2016 13:18:42
My first truly WTF moment of the year.
Well I hope the loan deal was cheap at least.

Agree4 Disagree5

12 Jan 2016 13:25:01
Perhaps we looked at other options and a deal couldn't be done?
If we had brought Caulker then it would be a WTF moment but as its a loan I can accept as a short term solution.

Agree7 Disagree6

12 Jan 2016 13:27:14
Unless the injury to one or more of the CB's is a bigger one than we've let on I just don't get this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 13:29:43
Good point Suffolk red but has suprised Me somewhat. Could turn out to be a good move I guess. Good luck lad.

Agree3 Disagree1

12 Jan 2016 13:30:48
I can see why it was done, does anyone know the length of the loan deal? till the end of the season?

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 13:34:24
Exactly any other time we would of bought a donkey at least this team we can send him back.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Jan 2016 13:49:37
Think it's until the end of season.

I'm assuming this is just for cover if we have any more injuries (and Toure is hardly the most robust replacement while others are injured) and probably to rest others in the FA cup games. Frankly if it prevents us having to use Enrique at CB I'm all for it (or prevent burning out Lucas) .

He's clearly not a long term plan unless he surprises on the upside. I actually think it's quite smart solution as a bandaid. I'd rather we went for a cheap experienced loan on the bench until end of season rather than panic buy someone expensive that's not right for the team (Balotelli anyone? )

Agree10 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 13:52:32
I think just relax a bit boys, he's available for Arsenal, and will cause giroud more problems than Lucas would in the air. That's the silver lining for me.

Agree7 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 13:53:35
It seems to be until the end of the season.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 13:59:02
Sure, we may have been able to do better, but personally I would rather have caulker at cb than ever seeing Enrique played there again. Or anywhere for that matter.

Agree9 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 14:18:11
Different manager, same stupid transfer messes. One of the players we demolished and yet we think its a good idea to sign him?! If I was a young LFC kid who was plying his trade as a cb I would really be struggling with this. Am I really that bad that LFC would rather sign this joker is what I would be thinking.

Agree1 Disagree14

12 Jan 2016 14:38:59
Cheers TB. Me too, didn't see it coming but clearly he just wants cover and time to assess so hope Caulker does well.

Agree3 Disagree1

12 Jan 2016 14:47:27
Most people slating caulker before he has even kicked a ball for us! Give the lad a chance first! If the move don't work at least we've not wasted money by panic buying and Klopp can look at the squad at the end of the year! Good luck to him and I hope he proves a few people wrong!

Agree13 Disagree3

12 Jan 2016 15:09:48
It's really sad that our fans, known to support the club even in the worst times, are criticizing a player before he was even clicked signing a deal. It's only a loan guys, we can send him back if he eventually ends up "not useful". Meanwhile let's back this lad to do good while he is here.

Agree9 Disagree3

12 Jan 2016 15:12:29
Surely if the idea was to allow Klopp to assess what we have then the best solution would be to not waste any money at all and use what we have. How will Klopp be able to assess what we have when were loaning other players in?

Agree1 Disagree9

12 Jan 2016 16:42:32
Gotta say I don't rate him and I believe injury situations like this is where the kids should get a chance. But as none seem to be rated ready enough, then clearly a loan is necessary. Time will tell if it's a good deal or not.

Agree0 Disagree5

12 Jan 2016 17:24:42
Have we any promising young centre backs ready and able to come instead.?

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Jan 2016 18:40:53
All of our young CBS are all injured themselves or no where near ready for the first team so this is a good solution till the end of the season heck if he plays well keep him if not move him on.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 19:22:32
Weren't we linked with Caulker wren he was at Swansea a few seasons ago? I was quite surprised by this but more surprised by his age - he seems to have been around for quite some time. That experience will be invaluable because it seems that generally he'll be alongside someone with little experience with all the injuries we have. A low risk/ high gain signing imo. In Jurgën We Trust.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Swansea was a loan - it was Cardiff Spurs sold him to.}

Eds is it true we are after Steven Caulker on loan until the end of season?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, though QPR are looking for a new home for him.}

12 Jan 2016 10:14:09
Be interesting I used to think he was a good player still young at 24 on loan leaves little risk

Besides be more relaxed watching him then skretl.

Being reported on Sky sports now, I usually find them to be a little more reliable than most sources?

Agree6 Disagree6

12 Jan 2016 10:30:28
Caulker wouldn't be so bad as a temporary solution considering our budget issues.
Now we just need a free striker. Let's get the Damião rumours rolling. ;)

Agree3 Disagree6

12 Jan 2016 10:45:53
Ed1 (or 2), do you think that we'll stay out of the transfer market now that our injury 'crisis' has eased a little?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The situation has to be driven by the concept of only recruiting to improve the squad. We know that Toure will be leaving in the summer and that the club has an interest in a couple of centre backs. They could have forced bringing forward a purchase by making an acceptable offer, if the money was available. That hasn't so far happened. They have taken Ilori back from a loan, and whilst he remains the Messiah to some his future will be elsewhere.

I am not sure there is anything new to report.}

12 Jan 2016 10:56:25
I'm not convinced by this at all so I hope the eds or knowing about this is a sign it's all just nonsense. Let go by Tottenham, tbh awful for qpr last year. Awful against us in our 6-1 result against Southampton earlier this year. If he comes of course I'll support him and wish him well but I don't see that he'd play at all when our already questionable defenders are back from injury. We need improvements not cover.

Mr Dennis - You're assuming there is definite interest in all of the players the media mention.

Agree3 Disagree0

12 Jan 2016 18:53:46
Totally disagree about Ilori. The boy has bags if talent. His treatment by us is scandalous . He had Kane in his back pocket and has more composure on the ball than Jon Stones . If he was English you all would be salivating over him. Give the lad a crack. He deserves to play on a proper pitch and get his motivation back by working with him to get his fitness back to where it needs to be. Our treatment of him is the best example of destroying the promise of a true talent.

Agree1 Disagree5

12 Jan 2016 23:32:19
