Eds, are we actually interested in Park Chu Young, and if so, what is the honest probability that he signs for LFC?
also, what is the approx valuation of him and do you think he would fit into the PL well? {Ed009's Note - I am not so sure he will sign for the club. He could be bought for around 10 million, but right now other positions are rightly taking priority and we are not currently looking for a striker. He remains a possibility.}

Hi eds, what was the result of the Doni medical?
I know it was widely known that he had his medical today and I was surprised to here nothing about, any idea?

Thanks, JCK {Ed009's Note - Doni will be signing for the club.}

Ed:009 twitter has gone into meltdown claiming u said a bid has been accepted for downing , can u clear it up for us please ? ........ The chef kd7 YNWA JFT96 {Ed009's Note - I never said a bid has been accepted, if I have seemed to do so, I typed something wrong. I just said that the deal is close and I am almost certain the player will join soon.}

Ed, my source is telling me that Aston Villa have told Downing he can leave as soon as they can secure his replacement (Nzogbia). Hence why Downing hasn't put in a transfer request. By the way Aston Villa are very close to signing Nzogbia so it looks like we will get Downing by the weekend.

Funny enough I was thinkin that yesterday. Was speaking to me mate on the phone earlier today and he has assured me Cole is staying till atleast January. I for one think he should be given a chance to prove himself coz he can be a quality player. YNWA

Downing checked in to the hilton at Liverpool one.... Medical tomorrow or Thursday

12 Jul 2011 22:26:40
Juan Mata - Player is interested in the move, fee is not a problem. Will be hard to fend off Barca if they step up their pursuit of him. Thats whats holding the deal up. He would prefer to join them.

Stewart Downing - Fee has been agreed, 16.5m + add ons, eventually rising to 18.5m.

Aly Cissokho - All parties want the move, LFC dont want to pay 15m for Enrique (Not worth it). Expecting this deal to happen. Bid of 14m going in this week.

Michel Bastos - Backup to Mata deal. We have put a bid in to test the water.

Gary Cahill - DC was in talks with reps of Cahill's and Bolton's throughout last week. Expecting a 17m bid to go in this week. Player up for it.

Alexander Doni - Expecting the deal to go through tomorrow, once the medical is completed, it will be announced. I can confirm he will have a medical tomorrow.

Scott Dann - Kenny rates Dann highly but feels Birmingham are over pricing him... He is backup to the Cahill deal. Price will be around 12m.

Strikers We are Interested In - Rodallega, Adebayor, Gyan, Defoe, Agbonahor, Barrios.

Please post Ed.

Cheers.

12 Jul 2011 21:14:40
Hi Ed,
This is my 1st post but Love the website, keep it up
Just a quick one with regards to some players we are being linked with:-
Downing: I've been told by what I would class as a very good source that the downing deal is done and dusted, just got to agree fee which is a formality. Great Signing purely for the Carroll linkup
Mata: Would be a fantastic signing, I travel around Spain a lot watching football and this kid is VERY highly thought of. What i will say is the 25m that is being quoted is nowhere near the valuation that Valencia put against this player. IF and it's a big if Liverpool do sign him then we will have to sell all of the dead wood in the squad. Ii genuinely believe this transfer will not happen.
Cissokho: This is probably the most promising Left-Back in the world at the moment, he has the potential to be world class. If the 10m bid has been tabled (again I heard from a very good source it has) then I think it's a bargain.
Honda: The rumours have gone quite on this Kid however i think he would be a great purchase and i know for a fact that this isnt dead in the water

Like i said, great site and keep up the hard work Fingers crossed this time next season we can be talking about players wanting to come because we've qualified for the champions league

YNWA People, Keep believing because LFC was made for us and we were made for LFC

Just got off the phone with my Friend who is a Liverpool Scout, . He is in La Plata for the Uruguay vs Mexico game tonight. Also he will be at the Brazil match in Cordoba tomorrow. Also helps to have Suarez and Lucas on the 2 of the 4 teams to help talk with players about coming to Liverpool.
He told me Mexico and Uruguay have an abundance of talented youth and in the next 2 or 3 windows do not be shocked if we try to purchase some of these players.

Liverpool will sign Doni and Stewart Downing for 1.5mil and 18.5mil respectively in the next 2 days.

After this, they will put in a 10mil bid for Hugo Rodallega. Dalglish wants somebody with pace and good finishing ability who has premier league experience and can play with either Carroll or Suarez.

After these 3 signings, Liverpool will put in a bid Aly Cissokho for 10mil.

Before they sign anyone else they will offload Insua, Jovanovic, Cole, Poulsen, Konchesky and N'gog, hoping to raise roughly 10-15mil from their sales.

Liverpool are ready sign Lyon defender Aly Cissokho in a £10million deal, after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger ruled themselves out of the running.

The Reds are in the hunt for a left-back and the 23-year-old ticks all the Anfield boxes and are keen to wrap a deal soon.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish will now swoop on Cissokho an offer £10million for a player who has three years left on his contract.

Liverpool director of football, Damien Comolli, is a fan of Cissokho's and will use his contacts at Lyon to push the deal through.

Downing deal moving closer (eds can verify from my IP address that I said we were more likley to sign SD than Young when this site was full of people saying "done deal" months ago) and I now have a bit of info about another wide player. Fiorentina's interest in Aquilani could smooth a deal for Juan Manuel Vargas the man Alberto Gilardino describes as the best crosser of a ball he's played with. He can play left-back but is more effective in midfield - SD often plays on the right so both players could be accomodated and as the net cost to LFC would be between 6-8m if Aquilani is valued at around £10m then it makes economic sense. He's a very good player.

A friend of mine works for a well known airline, and he today made four business class booking for thursdays flight to Kuala Lumpar - He did not recognise two of the names, but the other two where Downing and Bastos.

Guess they are going to join the squad, altho seems a little silly to fly all that way for a few days

Just woke up there now with a massive hangover, but now I feel great as I've seen we've been linked to the bangura pair playing for AIK massive fan of these two, its says we had scouts watching them but I remember hearing that we were scouting the AIK centre back Milosevic a couple of weeks ago and feel we were probably looking at him so I'm not going to get too excited about it lol, what do you think ed?

Just heard that Sneider (spelling) is going to Man Utd for 30m. Iv been told that Inter will then bid 10m for Aquilani.

Sky Bet latest::
We have cut Stewart Downing to 1/8 on to join Liverpool after a renewed bid from the Anfield club. Arsenal, who were also linked with the Villa winger, are now out to 4/1 to sign the England man.

-----------------------------------

EDS, Few sites are saying villa have accepted a £18.5m fee, but i crnt find it anywhere, and you guys aint posted anyfing either yet so was wondering if uve heard anything or seen anything about it?

BigD {Ed033's Note - No bid has gone in since the £15 million }

It just shows what people really know on here. Aquilani is a part of the King's plans and by all accounts of the Chinese tour it looks like he's staying. Similarly, Cole will be given another chance as his play was affected by a colic baby last season. Both players give us something different and can deputise up front for Suarez. Meireles is also staying - counter to everyone's projections on here. We are building a squad people These three players will stay (unless we get a really good bid for Cole) but it means that we won't be buying a back-up striker.

Hi eds, is there any real chance of signing Aly Cissokho, I know we have made an enquiry but have we made a concrete offer
Thanks, addicted to the site by the way {Ed009's Note - Roma are going to bid for the player, so we need to do something soon. But yes, a definite chance.}

12 Jul 2011 17:38:42
Hi, Ed? What are the chances of these players remaining with Liverpool Football Club for next season? out of 10

Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic, Jones, Cole, Kyrgiakos, Aurelio, Maxi, Ngog, Aquilani, Meirrales, Ince, Pacheco, El Zahr, Amoo, Eccelston, Spearing, Shelvy, Degen, Wilson.

It would be very kind of you if you reply's to my post with respect to your Knowledge I desperately want to know it Cheers Plz post this in Rumours or Banter page {Ed009's Note - I'm trying to phase out the ratings out of ten. Aquilani, Jovanovic, Meireles, N'gog, Cole will probably leave and there is interest in them all to one degree or another. El Zhar, Amoo, Konchesky, Degen and Kyriagkos are all available, but there is little interest. Some will be released on a free and some will perhaps be settled with. Youth players such as Wilson and Pacheco may be going on loan. Jones is leaving on a free as far as I know.}

hey Eds.. macca...
I no a lot of people on the site are saying that downing is a done deal i was just asking is the transfer set in stone or is that still a chance he might not be coming. also in relation to Aquilani is there really any chance of him still being at Liverpool next year surely we will have to offload him if he doesn't want to be at the club {Ed009's Note - he will leave if we can find a buyer. If not - another season long loan is, I suppose, an option. Transfers are never set in stone until they are signed on the dotted line, but its close.}

i was sat at my desk working away, and all of a sudden, i remembered we were in for loic remy back in Jan, and its since then completely died off, is that case or is there any possible interest?

Cheers for all the work you put in

Liverpool are ready to make a £7million offer for Brest striker Nolan Roux after Schalke had a second bid rejected by the French side.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has been to watch the 23-year-old play, on the advice of director of football, Damien Comolli, and was suitably impressed.

ed do you think we might go in.? {Ed009's Note - we were interested in the player before. Its died down recently but thats just because we haven't been looking at strikers. He is certainly a viable option.}

12 Jul 2011 16:08:42
Downing will sign very soon... 18.5 million. Yes it seems a bit much as young was under that.. but we're buying world class crossing for Carrol next year. Thats what we need. Downing may not be as skillful as Mata but he'll do the job twice as good. Its hard to tell for the left back option.. Kenny has been swayed over to Cissokho.. his first choice was Enrique. But he feels transfer fee wise he'll be getting a better deal with Cissokho. If Konchesky goes this week expect us to bid for him.. And from what ive been told Konchesky is on his way to Leiscter. We're not going to spend a ridiculous amount on a back up striker. Please stop with all the Aguero rumours. I doubt he'll go anywhere this summer. Kenny may go for another winger.. maybe a more creative one. If we sell all the deadwood Kenny will have a look at the likes of Mata, Turan, And N'Zogbia. But at no ridiculous price. Doni will sign. Aquillani will stay unless a bid over the region of 10 million comes in for him. I do hope Meireles stays.. thats 50/50 no one can tell yet. Back up striker is our last target.

There are storng rumors on Mersyside that Didier Drogba is heading to Anfield as another stike option.

With the new manager at Chelsea he is desperate to offload the old gurad.

12 Jul 2011 15:31:38
i read earlier from one of the eds replying in rumours that he belived we have had a bid of 18.5m accepted for downing is this the case?

12 Jul 2011 15:28:40
New poster to the site :)

I am happy that Meireles is going to be at Anfield next season. He may not be to everyones taste certainly the way he sometimes tends to 'back out' of challenges can be frustrating however he may improve on the physical aspect of his game next year. The runs what he makes into the box are crucial and something that I am a big fan of though.

I feel that with additions to LB, LM, RM and maybe a CB or ST which i feel is not important as we have adequete cover for both positions we would most certainly challenge for all domestic trophys next year.

I am not going to lie about 'sources' because I havent got any but from a close freind who has he's told me that Doni, Downing, Cissokho are all extremly close to signing. He has also told me that they will not be the last players arriving.

12 Jul 2011 15:19:10
Eds, interviewed on tour, Raul was asked if he will be an LFC player next season, and he answered 'of course.'

I've read a few Ed comment saying how he's not happy at LFC, so is this just him being cautious in case he doesnt get the move he wants, or do you think he may have changed his mind and really want to stay?

I'd love to see him as a midfield option to be honest. He could have a major impact coming off the bench, as he did on his very first appearance against Birmingham, when he looked the best player on the pitch for the last 20 mins. {Ed009's Note - he may stay if he lowers his wage demands. Unfortunately at this time he is asking for more money when he is already on double what Adam is. If he sticks with his hard line then he will probably go. We are now in a position to negotiate.}

12 Jul 2011 15:15:47
Ed whats going on with Aquilani ?

Will he be coming out in public to bad mouth the club in order to get a 5million move back to juventus. {Ed009's Note - urrm I doubt he'll do that, but he will be leaving the club.}

12 Jul 2011 15:07:22
My cousin is fluent in French & Spanish and after spending about 10 years in each country, has a fair few contacts. The latest from France is that Liverpool are preparing an bid of around £9m for Aly Cissokho but will not bid again for Bastos.
The latest news from spain is that it is unlikely now that Mata or Cazorla will sign and they are our last resort options. However, he did say don't rule out Aguero just yet.

12 Jul 2011 14:58:01
I mentioned Downing was a target back in Jan, nothing has changed..

The reason i confirmed again today is not to receive a pat on the back but just a bit fed up reading the same questions to the eds, eg is he a smokescreen etc..

With regards Bastos, i have no idea.. Maybe if they do not get Downing and Enrique he may be a target but they remain first choice..

Cheers

Liverpool interested in AIK Solna strikers Teteh Bangura and Mohamed Bangura {Ed009's Note - Before we get numerous questions, they are two young strikers who are lighting up the Swedish League at the minute. Teteh has 56 goals in 70 appearances overall, with 14 in 14 for his current club AIK. Mohamed has 62 in 98 and 11 in 26 for AIK. Sky has linked them with every team under the sun though.}

Liverpool have agreed a 15million bid for Michel Bastos plus Soto Kyrgiakos as he is not needed. Liverpool are not willing to spend the full 20million on Downing so they will offer around 15million + David N'gog. Meireles and Aquilani will be staying as Liverpool want to have a good bench aswell as a good 11. Jovanovic should be leaving. We are also going to make a bid for Mata as his dad (agent) prefers us as we have 1st team football to offer. we are 100% not going to get Sergio Kun Aguero. i know all this information as i work in Melwood as the waiter and talk to the staff every day.

I have been without internet access and TV for just over a week now. I haven't got time to check through all the past posts, so could you just sum up all the new interests, bids etc. It would be a great help.

Cheers {Ed009's Note - I really can't be making a habit of this, it just isn't viable, so please don't ask again - and don't expect any other editors to be as willing, they actually have stuff to do with their time. I'll give it a shot though:

we are almost certain to sign Downing. I believe a bid in the region of 18.5 million has been accepted.

we also held very real interest in Bastos for a while, culminating in a bid of roughly 9 million euros. This was rejected. Whilst we could go in again the player has a preference for a move to either Turin or London and this could be a real stumbling block.

Interest in Enrique seems to have died down and a viable option for left back is now Aly Cissokho. The French club are willing to let the player go for a reasonable price and he did not travel with them on their pre season tour. Lyon are resigned to his exit.

If we were to buy players for any other positions, Scott Dann remains the most likely centre back. With regards to another winger, N'Zogbia could be off the agenda due to Wigan's ridiculous demands of roughly 20 million. The player may well make a move to Villa to replace Downing. Johnson - a previously non starter - is perhaps an option. Mancini wants rid of the player and the player is tired of being a bit part. The board would previously not have even considered a bid but there is more strength in Mancini's position since he secured the FA Cup and a top four place.}

i no it looking like a done deal but i hope we dont sign doni, he is rubbish..... why dont we just use gulacsi as cover for reina as he was back up towards the end of last season and already looks good.. doni will stay a few seasons at most and pocket god knows how much in wages... bad signing kenny, also why have we paid upto 20 million for henderson?? he isnt that good either, for 20 million we could have signed quality like mata, we dont even need him as meriles, aquilani, gerrard, lucas and spearing are all better, we just seem to be wanting more british players but like all british players they are overated and overpriced, carroll 35 million?? for that money we could have had aguero, tevez, eto, lavezzi and many more, its a joke

12 Jul 2011 12:39:10
Downing will sign this week it's good to see finally fans have agreed with Kenny and accept him, Kenny will sign British players mainly for a reason.
Expect David Goodwillie as a 3rd striker again young and British may be about 6m, Left back may still be Wayne Bridge despite his age all depends on his wages Kenny wants best available British left back.
Expect Dann or even Shawcross
If both Merieles and Aqua goes we will be going Rodwell, and also heard Kenny is planning to spent up to 15m on Stephan Ireland

Hi Ed, LFC has made enquiries for Bastos, he's 27 and probably to old, but depends on the price, what do you think.

Paggsy {Ed002's Note - I assume you have not read any of the previous posts on this subject.}

In my opinion Bangura isnt on his way to liverpool .newcastle have also been named as a new club for him but seems like a to big step and for me highly unlikely. talks is also about the 19 year old Centre Back from Aik milosevic but still i dont think liverpool is keen on signing someone from swedish allsvenskan right now. regards from sweden.

12 Jul 2011 12:03:10
Valencia has told Arsenal and Tottenham that mata is not for sale, why havent they told Liverpool, seems all to wierd that they would say that to them and not us when they know were interested and we would have a friendly with them and our owner saying that comment on twitter, to be honest i think well see him in a red shirt next year {Ed002's Note - They have told the two clubs who have shown an interest in the player. That is all. Whilst he could possibly end up as a Liverpool player I would not read anything in to this.}

12 Jul 2011 11:54:28
I posted last week that downing would come for 18.5m deal will betied up this week. My source says dont expect any more signings until some players have left. FSG are running LFC as a business. They want at least three of the wage bill before anyone else signs top left back target though is enriquie

Hi Eds, Great (if extremely addictive) site.

I'm hearing some rumours that Aqua may go to Sunderland, is there any truth in this? I feel it would be a shame to let a player of his quality go to at all, not onyl to another prem club, especially one that is showing a lot of ambition in the transfer market this summer.

Do you think there is any truth in this? As it seems likely he will leave I would hate to see it come back and bite us in the ass first day of the season. I also feel if it were true that Sunderland would definately be better off in the the 2 moves ( Henderson and Aqua) much like chelsea were last summer (Yossi and Cole)

Anyway, great site - keep up the good work.
(Please post in rumours) {Ed002's Note - I struggle to see Aquilani moving to Sunderland.}

@Ed002

Ok. Appreciate the reply.
So Bastos, should the Juve deal collapse, would fancy London?
I think only Chelsea and Arsenal would be able to pay him the kind of wages he'd want.
In any case, I doubt if Spurs would attract him, even if they could pay the wages, no disrespect to them.

Which begs the question then, ed, do Chelsea and Arsenal have any plans of buying Bastos?
Considering his age, what he'd cost and Arsenal's general transfer, I'm not convinced that Wenger will move for.
It should be borne in mind as well Arsenal's interest in Hazard and Mata.

Which leaves your club, Chelsea. Is there confirmed interest in the player?
I doubt there is. Even if there were, would he be a priority right?
I'd think that Lyon want to deal quickly.
Chelsea and Arsenal I believe have other priorities.

So if Bastos isn't keen on a move to Anfield, as it appears, it's either Juve or he probably stays at Lyon, imo.
I don't see Barca's supposed interest in him amounting to anything.
But who knows, Malaga may chip in.

Personally, I want players who want to be Anfield. As the Doctor has been at pains to stress, we want he who wants us.

Ed, one thing I don't get though is, what's been the stumbling block in Bastos' Juve move? I was under the impression that the deal was as good as done?

Lastly, with City clinching Clichy, Arsenal close on Cissokho, as you say Ed002, and doubts over Enrique's defending mounting, what's the likelihood that we'll go for Baines?

Govan Sami {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have been interested in Bastos previously and he has certainly been considered as a like-for-like replacement for Zhirkov who after much injury is due to leave. I suspect Spurs may have expressed an interest in the player but it is hard to see where he would fit in to the team at anything other than left back. The only thing holding up a move to Juve was an acceptable bid not being made. I think Clicy's move was critical to opening the window for a bid to be made for Baines - and I think he would be an excellent solution. However, I fear that the money Everton would want could be prohibitive. As I said earlier, I rather think Roma have moved in to pole position over Cissokho and I understand that a bid will be made anytime now.}

I hear we could be signing M'Baye Niang.

12 Jul 2011 11:27:01
Ed's have you heard anything with any real substance on the "improved" Downing bids? {Ed002's Note - No. I have explained what I know and what I expect already.}

12 Jul 2011 11:26:40
are we still intrested in zapata. i think gary cahill will be a amzing player at liverpool and long term replacment for carra. y r we so tight and not getting players like this {Ed002's Note - Zapata has agreed a move to Villareal.}

12 Jul 2011 11:17:25
I see reports that there have been interest in Ever Banega - 2 Italian clubs and a couple of premiership but no names mentioned. ED - do you think this would be an ideal buy to be an understudy for when Gerrard retires. I know we have a lot of CM att the moment but surely one for the future. P

(Please put on rumours page) {Ed002's Note - It could well be Liverpool. I would think one club interested is Spurs. Inter have shown long-term interest as well. If he moves it will likely be to Inter.}

12 Jul 2011 11:04:52
hi this is my first time post, and im just wondering seeing as we are looking at new left backs, whats wrong with fabio aurelio? Are we selling him because to me hes an excellent player who always goes up on attacks and is great with set plays. Any news on him?

I work in the same office's as LFCTV, one of the camera men was heading to melwood on my way in, he said he is going to film the signing of a contract, he said its not an outfield player, thats all he would give me.
Keep up the good work guys, i only post with facts {Ed002's Note - It would be Doni.}

12 Jul 2011 10:55:26
Ed why is the place gone mad saying downing is coming today Do you think there is anything in it or just people predicting? Do you think Dann is good enough for LFC or are we just caught up in the fact he is a Liverpool lad that would kill to play for us? {Ed002's Note - As I have said on numerous occasions it is impossible and meaningless to guess when transfers will complete. Dann is a good player - assuming he is now injury free.}

12 Jul 2011 10:38:01
Hi Ed, Wich players are we interested in Please write 5 {Ed002's Note - Assuming the Downing deal goes through, I suspect a left back will be next. Perhaps Enrique, perhaps Sissokho, perhaps Izaguirre, perhaps Baines, perhaps Kolarov. Then maybe a centre back - Scott Dann is one option.}

12 Jul 2011 10:52:35
Pepe Reina to Arsenal
Nasri to Liverpool

Gerrard to Real
Higuain to Liverpool

Then two of Vargas, Downing, Mata with Cissohko at left back.

Hi eds thanx for the great work u guys put into this site jus wanted to ask what u guys make of adam johnson. Personally i prefer him to downing simply coz he is younger is everythimg that downing is and maybe more due to his excellent dribbling ability. What do you guys think of adam johnson? Also what are our chances of signing him? Also is there anything new on aly cissokho . Thanx a bunch and plese post this on the rumours page.

DPK14 {Ed002's Note - If Manchester City buy a player similar to Johnson, and if Liverpool have the money, then perhaps a bid will be made. At this time, I suspect that he will not be at Liverpool next season.}

12 Jul 2011 10:21:27
Ed do you think KD and DC may have given up on a CB? Like CM we have enough players for the positions but the quality of them players may be a worry, We were defo looking weren't we at the start of the window it just seems to have died off a bit. Unless they have a suprise up thier sleeves.
It may be a chance for wilson or kelly to make a play for the first team. Unless Agger can give us more than half a season that is..
Dave {Ed002's Note - I don't think they have given up just yet.}

12 Jul 2011 10:16:02
Ed001's Note - no and no well maybe for ridiculous amounts of money, but certainly not 8m maybe try tripling it and adding maybe try tripling it and adding some. The lad has a long term contract, he trains really hard and is very good at listening to instructions from the coaching staff. He is extremely well-liked, loves playing for Liverpool and was arguably the best player over the whole season ast season. Kenny would be loath to et him go, he is one of the first names on every team sheet.}
----------

Totally agree ed. I didn't like him when he first came but I think he is guaranteed first team now so I'm glad to hear we won't let him go.

I do know that both clubs are interested though, udinese in particular I know have been watching him for months and have scouts watching him at copa america. Thanks for the input ed, ill share any other info I get.

Gentlemen.
Ed, a coupla questions.

1. Welcome to Twitter, Ed001 (finally). Hope you'll enjoy being on it as we'll enjoy having you there.
Now here's to hoping that the leader of the old guard Ed002 follows suit.

2. Regarding the stadia issue, what would be the most viable route: redevelopment or a new stadium from scratch?

3. How likely are we to go back in for Michel Bastos? Does his transfer hinge on what happens with Downing?

4. Ed002, a coupla days ago you stated that, in your POV, Cissokho was an unlikely signing as Arsenal is closer to him. In any case, you also mentioned that he has "issues" with Comolli.

Now, based on what you know, is that still the case? Does Aly still remain unlikely.

5. Is LFC looking to swoop for one or both of Bastos and Cissokho? If the latter, what are our chances of getting them, and at what price?

6. Are Moussa Sissoko, Blaise Matuidi and Yann M'Vila still being looked? Any chance of one of them joining? If yes, perhaps when?

7. What type of forward are we targetting: an established frontliner (a la Benzema, Higuian) or a Hernandez ilk player.
In either case, what are our most viable options?

Govan Sami {Ed002's Note - (1) I have no plans to open a Twitter account at this time. (2) A redeveoped Anfield provides a solution that most fans seem to want, will be a lot cheaper to do but seems to be a problem in terms of planning. A new ground is a long term solution that will require significant borrowing to implement but will give much better returns in the long run. I should say that the borrowing required is rather different to the previous borrowing as it will be an investment in a tangible asset. Arsenal have gone this route but had the advantage of being able to redevelop and exploit Highbury. I suspect that doing the same at Anfield may not be as viable and we are probably looking at a figure in excess of £400M. Continued success on the pitch and European football would softean the blow considerably but I doubt FSG were planning on this route. (3) Bastos has now come out and said the London would be an exciting place to live. He had already expressed a preference for Juventus. I rather suspect that Liverpool have back off at this time. We will see. (4) I think Cissokho is unlikely. Arsenal seem to have backed away from any interest at present, but Juventus may still bid and we have confirmed interest from Roma now as well. I don't know why the player mentioned his issues with Damien Comolli. (5) Liverpool have shown an interest in Bastos and Cissokho - we have discussed this a lot already. Chances at present do not look great but perhaps Cissokho could make the move. (6) Sissoko has interest from Liverpool and PSG; Newcastle, Liverpool, Roma and Napoli have shown an interest in Matuidi but Arsenal and PSG must remain favourites; M'Vila has interested Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, Genoa and perhaps Liverpool & Chelsea are interested as well - although he has signed an extension and may likely stay with Rennes or head to Italy. (7) I don't know what is happening for forwards beyond previous discussions about Park Chu-Young and the like - but on't hold your breath waiting for Higuain et al.}

12 Jul 2011 09:45:24
if we get rid of Maxi, Cole, and Jovanovich (high wages), do you think Clint Dempsey would be worth a go as a squad player? He reminds me a bit of Kuyt with his tenacity and ability to play wing or forward. (plus he broke John Terry's jaw ;) {Ed002's Note - I doubt Clint Dempsey would be interested in to moving to a club where first team football would not be at least regular. He must be in his late 20s now and will not want to put his international place at risk by sitting on the bench. As such, it seems very unlikely.}

12 Jul 2011 09:39:18
Ed, what's the latest on Downing, will there be any news today on him? Cheers {Ed002's Note - It is impossible for me to predict if there will be any news today on Downing. As far as I understand the situation, Liverpool will return with another offer and I would suspect that Downing will need to submit a transfer request for it to be successful. There is nothing new right now.}

According to L'equipe, Joe Cole is to join Hamburg for £10.4M If we get that i'd be over other the moon
YoungRed
...
dont think we'd get 10m

i'd do joe cole and 10m for eljiro elia can play right wing or left equally as good despite being right footed, his crosses are pin point, has ryan babel like pace but is a real winger with skill and plays pass and move, 24 years old, 20 odd caps for the Netherlands (full international).

12 Jul 2011 02:39:47
Ed, Do you think we have any interest in Standard Liegue Defender Eliaquim Mangala?i see him as the cheaper version of Mamadou Sakho.pls tell me.. {Ed002's Note - No interest from Liverpool but Spurs and Nice have been interested for a while and Udinese thought he was close to signing for them recently.}

Hey Ed, with all this transfer "in" news, I'm a little concerned that I'm not seeing the "out" news of deadwood such as Poulsen, Degan, El Zhar, Insua....etc etc. what is the situation as far as reducing our unwanted salary bill? any insight? {Ed002's Note - Not much movement aside from Jovanovic and Aquilani - but I am sure there will be more as time moves on.}

hi

last night i was watching swedish news on tv4 and they say aik striker Teteh Bangura is a target for liverpool, thats why scouts have been at aik matches, he scored 4 great goals last night and has 14 for the season. great back up in my opinion do you know of this interest ed?

swedish adam {Ed009's Note - I don't know of any, but then he isn't a player I am familiar with so I wouldn't have asked. Keep us updated mate.}

Mourning Eds,

any news on Dejan Lovren of Lyon, we were supposly intrested but aint heard anyfing else, also have we agreed a fee with villa for downing yet and is cissohko on his way to us as hes bin left at home by lyon or am i reading too much into it. {Ed009's Note - I don't think there is any interest in the player anymore. Cissokho is a viable option. He is certainly leaving Lyon this season and with City buying Clichy and Arsenal promoting Gibbs, its definitely a possibility.}

12 Jul 2011 08:14:16
Heard A johnson is and always has been nuimber 1 target with downing second choice , lets hope thats true , why would we want downing ?? hes sht ask your self how many of last years top 4 sides would downing get in?? squad player at best . {Ed001's Note - well Young went to last year's title winners and Downing is better than him.}

Morning eds,

I'm hearing from my sources in florence and udine that both udinese and fiorentina are interested in lucas and preparing bids of around 8m. Any idea if lfc would sell him? And would 8m be enough?

Rewflo {Ed001's Note - no and no, well maybe for ridiculous amounts of money, but certainly not 8m, maybe try tripling it and adding some. Valencia tell Arsenal and Spurs: Juan Mata is not for sale.
Haven't told liverpool so maybe just maybe

My source who is normally reliable told me that we are definitely going to sign Newcastle duo of Jose Enrique and surprize, surprize, wait for it, well yes, Joey Barton. I know some of the eds don't like the idea. But it's a decision by Kenny and the logic behind it is Andy Carroll. 90% of the goal scored by him was from the crosses of Barton. Also he's a good friend of Stevie G.

hi ed
LFC had a bid of 18.5 million rising upto 20.5 million for downing at 12:10 am.
It has been accepted.
So Expect an statement on LFC website of the fee Agreed for DOWNING.
I think he would be given 6 no n fabio will be transfered to 15 no
LFC FOREVER

Hi Eds,

Can you please tell me why everyone on the boards keeps linking us with Adam Johnson? Don't get me wrong, Johnson is an absolutely fantastic young talent and I would love to see him at Liverpool but where is the evidence that we have even shown serious interest? And even if city do sign a winger there is no reason they would let him go to us, except for a Torres-esque ridiculous fee. Just on logic alone there is virtually no chance we will see Adam Johnson in a red jersey anytime soon. {Ed009's Note - as far as I know we enquired for the player earlier in the season, when there was no chance of him being sold. Since then Mancini has gained more power in his position through winning the FA Cup and securing a top four place. He doesn't want Johnson in his team, and Johnson doesn't want to be a bit part player. There is certainly a chance that, should they get a replacement, he will become available.}

12 Jul 2011 00:16:54
wel eds great site im not a person who pretends to be a know it all but in my ipinion aly cissoko could be 1 of the signings of the summer if we got him.ed do you know if there is real interest from liverpool or just paper talk thanks {Ed002's Note - There have been enquiries made, but no offer that I am aware of. I am also not so sure where Cissokho is right now but his colleagues have now departed their Austrian training camp.}

12 Jul 2011 00:09:41
Hi folks, just wanted to give my opinions on how Liverpool will shape up next season. i've analysed a lot of what The King has done since his return and also during his first spell and i believe Liverpool will shape up as decribed below using the current squad players.

Goalkeeper : Reina, Doni, (Gulacsi, Hansen)
Right Back : Johnson, Kelly (Flanagan, Carragher)
Centre Back : Carragher, Kyrgiakos (Ayala, Wisdom)
Centre Back : Agger, Skrtel (Wilson, Kelly)
Left Back : Aurelio, Robinson (insua, Johnson, Flanagan)
Centre Midfield (Defensive) : Lucas, Spearing (Poulsen)
Centre Midfield (Box-to-Box) : Gerrard, Henderson (Raul Meireles, Shelvey)
Centre Midfield (Playmaker) : Adam, Aquilani
Right Wing : Kuyt, Henderson (Cole, Maxi, Gerrard)
Left Wing : Cole, Maxi (Jovanovic, Raul Meireles)
Striker : Carroll, Suarez (N'Gog, Kuyt, Pacheco)

This is based on all the players currently at the club. Now i know your all thinking no way, Suaraz AND Carroll will both play and i agree, which is why i believe this is how the current team will set up.

Doni looks a done deal, Brad Jones will leave and the keepers are sorted. Right Back is covered with Glen Johnson and the emergence of both Martin Kelly and John Flanagan. Centre Back is interesting because we have been linked with a few people but clearly someone will have to make way if we do buy someone. Andre Wisdom will probably not break through until next season but he is held in high regard. Martin Kelly is likely to operate at right back. Danny Wilson i suspect will be subject to a loan move, if the right club comes in. Daniel Ayala and Sotiris Kyrgiakos look most likely to make way. With Ayala still young he could go away on loan yet again. Kyrgiakos could be sold if the club recieve serious offers. BUT, i dont think this position is a huge priority because Damien Comolli and The King know that Wisdom, Kelly, Ayala and Wilson will all improve in a years time and so Kyrgiakos could be given another year. However, if the right player comes along at the right place Liverpool will do business with Kyrgiakos moved on this year. Left Back is a problem position, has been since the exit of Jon Arne Riise. The King knows Jack Robinson needs time and cant be thrown straight in, Rafa Benitez made that mistake with Emiliano insua, who i believe is surplus to requirements. Contrary to belief, Liverpool will not sign big in this position as they want a player who can perform for the club but also rotate game time with Robinson. Fabio Aurelio will be kept for another season as when he's match fit, he's a good option to have.

Centre Midfield is a big point of discussion with Liverpool fans of late, with many saying we have too many, i believe this to be incorrect and can see Liverpool buying at least one more. Before i explain who and how our midfielders will play please let me emphasise one thing. THE KiNG is known to prefer fluidity in his midfield and attack unlike Rafa Benitez who was very rigid. The King wants his players to move around, with Rafa everybody did as they were told and no more, only Gerrard and Judas had creative freedom. But why 3 in the middle? the Steve Clarke effect, The King values his opinion and he believes one midfielder must be locked down to help the defence but also allow the others to roam. We have Lucas for this and also Jay Spearing, whose tenacity, tactical discipline, commitment and composure on the ball will see him eventually phase Lucas out. Liverpool may consider signing another player for this role but Spearing will still have a role to play. Steven Gerrard will operate as our box-to-box midfielder, the position he craves. Gerrard is the best for this position purely because of the attributes he posseses. He can defend just as good as he can attack and so against "big" teams he slip 10-15 yards back on the pitch and still be effective. He will provide a threat from deep and an option to the forward players. Jordan Henderson is the player likely to fill this position when Gerrard is unavailable or ask to play elsewhere. Jonjo Shelvey will probably go out on loan but if he doesnt then this is the position he will be playing in when he gets the chance. The third central midfielder will be asked to defend but more importantly be our playmaker. This is where Charlie Adam will be played. He will be expected to help Lucas out, although he can come forward as The King believes he is a very intelligent player and so will allow him to attack at the right moments. Adam will be expected to start most of our plays deep, with Liverpool looking to use his wide range of passing to its full extent. When not available, Gerrard will be asked to fill this position. Aquilani, i believe, will leave if Liverpool get any type of acceptable offer. if not he will act as back up but i believe Liverpool will look to sign another central midfielder. Raul Meireles will be sold i think and Christian Poulsen if we get an offer for him.

Now to the part where every one will disagree. Liverpool will have a right winger, currently that will be Dirk Kuyt or Jordan Henderson although i think Liverpool will definitely sign another player for this position. Left Wing will be occupied by none other than Luis Suarez. He will play on the left but will be given a free role to roam around anywhere that he wants to (think David Villa for Spain). Expect a lot of swapping wings between him and the right winger. To cover Suarez on the left, Charlie Adam will be asked to step across when we are defending (much like Gareth Barry did for Steven Gerrard when he played on the left for England in the early Fabio Capello days). We wont always play like this, and expect us to go with a more orthodox wide man wen we come up against "big" teams. Finally, our striker will be Andy Carroll. He will be asked to stay in the middle of the pitch and put himself about to keep the centre backs occupied. He will remain very static as a central striker using his heading and shooting skills to put away chances created by the 3/4 players behind him. David N'Gog will go if we get a good bid, Dani Pacheco i suspect will be moved out on loan. Dirk Kuyt will be second choice in this position to Carroll, with his performances towards the back end of last season convincing The King he is more effective there.

This is how i believe we will line up next season and as such i see Liverpool looking to sign a goalkeeper, left back, centre midfielder, winger and possibly a centre back if the right deal comes along.

The Goalkeeper will be Doni of Roma. Left Back will, in my opinion, most likely be Jose Enrique. He is a decent defender, but technically he is equally as good as Fabio Aurelio, and a bit faster. He has a great delivery as seen by his time at Newcastle alongside Andy Carroll and wont demand to start every game. Also, if or should i say when Jack Robinson establishes himself, Jose Enrique will still have good resale value. Stewart Downing will be our new winger. He can play either wing and is not only a good crosser, but also a very good passer and dribbler. He lacks pace many say but he wont need it. He will swap wings with Luis Suarez during games which changes our attacking threat and constantly keeps the opposition on their toes. On the right he will look to come inside and link the play, leaving the wing open for Johnson to bomb down and on the left he will deliver them quality crosses we've all seen him do time and time again.

Which leaves me to CENTRAL MiDFiELD. We have too many you say, but i believe Liverpool will look to bring one more in and i think it will be a more defensive type than offensive. Moussa Sissoko or Blaise Matuidi are players who have been linked before and i believe a player similar to these will be brought in. Why? because Lucas can also operate in the box-to-box position, and someone like Moussa Sissoko can as well so it a) gives us more options and b) allows us to play 2 defensive minded midfielders if we feel we need to stay strong or defend well. A Centre Back is not priority i feel and Liverpool will most likely hold onto what they have and reassess next year. The same goes for the central striker role and also the winger. Joe Cole is available, but he will not take a pay cut and wants to stay. The King will use him as back up to Stewart Downing, performing the same role of swapping wings with Luis Suarez. i've watched Liverpool for years, i've analysed The King's tactics for months. This is what i believe Liverpool will play like next season. Sorry Eds, i know its really long but please appreciate the effort i have put into this and post this on your site. Look forward to hearing what my Kop Brothers think. YNWA.
