Hi eds, posted this in regards to another post on banter but dont know if it went through. Whats your thoughts on jefferson farfan? Is he available and do you think he will improve the team?
I dont want to just throw up names but I quite rate the player and he can play wing or striker.

Also are we heavily scouting the german leagues? It seems they have all the best youngsters at the moment? Thomas Mullar and the bender twins at liverpool would be fantastic if we got back in the CL

Loafmaster Flex {Ed001's Note - I am not a fan of Farfan, far too inconsistent for my liking, you need players to be consistent if you are going to win leagues. We are looking at the German league, we have been to watch some Koln matches (I am told Podolski is the object of interest), but that is all I know.}

Good point ed I do seem to like inconsistent players (louis garcia being one) if it happens do you see podolski being brought in as part if a 3 prong attack? Carrol centre with two players either side? Would be different to see two left footers up front

Loafmaster Flex {Ed001's Note - I can't see any other reason to bring him in, it would make the most sense to me anyway.}

Wow id love to see Podolski in the famous red

YNWA EIRE {Ed009's Note - He would be a fantastic signing, though its important to remember that he has not always replicated his brilliance in a Germany shirt for his club.}

Babel is better than farfan

Is there any interest from Liverpool in Scott Sinclair?
He could be a realistic target.

I wonder if real would accept Glen Johnson + Cash for Ramos? what do you think eds? {Ed001's Note - highly unlikely that Johnson would ever play for Mourinho again.}

There is not a chance mourinho would let ramos go.

Rewflo

Mourinho again? when did he play for mourinho? {Ed009's Note - At Chelsea.}

Ramos = no thanks

If Glen's off to Real, can we just ask for Arbeloa back? he was, and still is, quality. {Ed001's Note - why? He wanted to return to Spain, he only stayed an extra year because Rafa asked him to, he was never settled in the UK.}

Hey ED sorry to give you more work to do but do you think we will get a much-needed player with flair (e.g. Mata , Silva , Eriksen , Honda etc) in January?
cheers
luissuarez7. {Ed001's Note - I think it is more likely that a player like that will be the target for next summer.}

Sorry again ED but what positions do you think we will want to fill in January?
cheers.
luissuarez7. {Ed001's Note - right wing and striker.}

Ed (i) do you think we are after Keisuke Honda ?
(ii) do you think we will get him ?
and (iii) Who would he replace in the team ?

Cheers mate.
LFC Til' I Die. {Ed001's Note - I don't think we are, but it is difficult to be sure, we don't need to scout him so it will only be if we catch wind of negotiations we will know for sure. I am quite sure we could get him as he is available. I don't see him as a replacement, we have gaps in our squad he could fill.}

Liverpool are preparing a bid for Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda. Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with the 25-year old in the past, but the Anfield club are believed to now be in pole position for Honda's signature.

One of a new generation of false number nines', Honda has been compared to David Silva and Lionel Messi for the way he operates in the liminal space between midfield and attack. The CSKA Moscow forward, known as Emperor Keisuke to Japanese fans, is renowned for his creativity and dead-ball expertise.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish had been mulling over a move for unsettled Barcelona striker David Villa, but with the European champions' £35 million asking price beyond anything owner John Henry is willing to pay, the Liverpool manager has turned his attentions to Honda who, with an estimated value of £10 million, is a far cheaper and younger alternative.

Sorry for the copy and paste Ed just wanted to inform fellow Reds what I have found .
Cheers mate.

Clearlyt a position we need.
For years we have been crying out for the pace on the flanks - we have addressed this with Downing and Bellamy (all be it short term with the latter).
But if 1 thing the Norwich and Swansea games has shown is that we are desperate for a bit of "magic" in midfield.
Of the - silva, mata, messi, role.
Havent seen much of Honda, but he is very highly talked up.....

You can't say that about the Norwich game - we played the best football we have played for years in the first 25 minutes of that game and we had 10 shots on target against Swansea as well. We need someone to put the thing in the net, pure and simple.

TSP

Suarez can put it in the back of the net, we just need someone to feed him more often, without gerrard i cant see him getting too much chances so we need a sneaky player who can just find space and create chances like silva, mata, messi

Why not swap villa for Carrol

This same article also reported that he made his name playing for Gamba Osaka when he actually never played a game for the before signing for VVV another typical football blog article by someone whose source is most likely of the tomato variety

At the moment I what we need is a right-winger, striker, CB and a creative midfielder who plays in the hole to add a bit more creativity and flair to the side as well as shoring up our defense.

My ideal (and realistic, i think) choices as to who these players would be are as follows:

Right wing: A. Johson - I know he has attitude problems, but I think that is just to do with being at Man City and with Mancini.

CB: Musacchio - Promising young player who is proven in La Liga and fits in with our policy. Could come in if a CB goes.

Striker: Luke de Jong - Looks like a really good young player and as the eds say, we are looking at him as a replacement for Kuyt.

Creative Midfielder: Gaston Ramirez - Looks a fantastic player, already great friends with Suarez and Coates and will no doubt get along well with his other South American counterparts.

I agree with you in the case of a right midfielder who has creativity in him and possibly a striker if he comes at the right price (10 mil max.). We don't need a CB at the moment with Agger, Skrtl, Coates, Carra even Kelly when in need. As for RW, Suarez can play that role if we ever went 3 up top. I think we need a powerhouse CM in the mold of the Essien of old or Yaya Toure. Sissoko could be the one. All in all another 40 million might need to spent in January. I know that sounds crazy, but if we don't spend the cash now everything will be more expensive come the summer.

CB - vertonghen
RW - ganston ramirez
ST - abel hernandez

we need in jan

{Ed001's Note - yes he has said it numerous times now.}

Rumoured interest in Villa is true, seen as a replacement for Torres...

RM

One upon a time liverpool spent 35m on a young fella/bloke called andy carroll...

Firstly - I'm a long time reader, but first time poster. Love the site so thanks for the info/insights.

My question is in relation to Nolan Roux....I know there were rumours linking us to him last window. I'm just wondering if you have any views as to whether that interest was genuine and if we have any remaining interest. I don't know too much about him but only really ask because I got him in my FIFA ultimate team and it made me think of him our link to him and the talk that we were linked to an unnamed french striker on deadline day. Can you shed any light on Nolan and any previous/current interest? Cheers
MD4 {Ed001's Note - we have had him extensively scouted, or at least it is believed we were looking at him when we had his team watched multiple times. Personally I feel he is seen as a back up option in case the first choice is not able to be brought in.}

First choice being? thanks {Ed001's Note - not sure, seems to be Luuk De Jong at the forefront though.}

Montolivo has been linked with a move out of Fiorentina this summer after talks over a new contract stalled, leaving him free to leave the club on the Bosman ruling if he does not pen an extension by the end of the season.
Sportmediaset reports that AC Milan hope to buy the 26-year-old for a cut-price 3million deal.
However, it is understood that Fiorentina will not sell the former Atalanta midfielder for anything below 5million.

MAKE A BID LIVERPOOL £5M MAY BE HAPPEN FOR US.

I'm not quite sure what Johnson/Musacchio/de Jong have to do with Montolivo. However I will say that the Italian midfielder was scouted several times by Arsenal only for Wenger to baulk at making an offer as he did not believe that Montolivo has the physical capability to stand up to the rigours of the Premiership. A bit like Aquilani really.

Hi eds,
Yesterday you metioned that we're scouting the russian league. Does it means that there will be more interest in Keisuke Honda? {Ed001's Note - there will no doubt be lots of stories regarding him in the media, but I think it unlikely we will move for him as it stands. We could have had him last January, if we wanted him, I hope we just didn't get the chance to do the deal because of the Torres situation, but it is just hope.}

Hope we not looking at Aiden mcgeady. He just not good enough

ed do u know if we inserted a buy back clause for FC Twente GK Nikolay Mihaylov, we sold him last year after he had a succesful loan spell there, i belive we sold him as we couldnt get a work permit for him ? ?

BigD {Ed001's Note - his agent certainly said there was one, so I would have to accept his word for that.}

----------------------------------------------------

sori to b a pain ed, do u know how much for? and do u fink we will buy him bk as he is earning rave reviews from europe and im certain totenham have had him watched regarding a summer move, or do u fink we will stick with gulaisc as pepe understoody? BigD {Ed001's Note - all I know is what his agent said, that there is a buyback clause, nothing more sorry. It makes little difference as he won't be coming back while Reina is at the club.}

Wasn't it him who said liverpool havea buyback option if they wish. after he went on about riena and having the same manager {Ed001's Note - yes he did make public comments about it as well.}

Considering that we allowed him to stay at FC Twente for 3 years on loan, I seriously doubt that he will move back to Anfield as a no.2 keeper. He certainly has enough tattoos to fit in well at the club though.

wat r the chances of ketia

Good player. last year he was regular this year droped for Fabrigus and thiago been so many match.

ed any chance of getting Cavani in Jan/Summer, if were guna spend £25m+ on Villa(as reported on various sites) then surely there is a possibility? {Ed001's Note - do we have to keep answering this question all the time? I don't believe he is at all likely as it stands. As for Villa, that is pure speculation because he has fallen out with Messi.}

Hi ed's, I used to think the Daily Mirror was reliable to some extent with their transfer news, but they claim we are close to signing Nicholas Hunziker from FC Basle. Is there any truth to this?

Cheers, LuisG. {Ed001's Note - they are not reliable to any extent! I have no idea about this time though, I don't know anything regarding the player at all.}

12 Nov 2011 08:03:28
Eds any chance of us bringing in Lasandro Lopez in January? {Ed001's Note - not that I know of, I have not heard of any interest in bringing him in this January.}

12 Nov 2011 04:17:12
Ed's you've said before that we had previous interest in Christian Eriksen, any chance of us acting on it in january? Or do we have interest in any other creative midfielder? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. Back in mid July someone from the Milan Press Office said he had heard of interest from Manchester United - but I am not aware of any confirmation of that interest. I doubt that January is an option for a move to Liverpool, but perhaps the summer. The player himself has said he wants to move to Barcelona.}
