Do you see a centre back coming in beforethe Arsenal game? My preference would be Cahill he would also add goals to us as well a quality defender. Please post.

For £15 million we should go for godin instead the guy is quality, with proven experience in top competitions.RedTurk

Godin has never played prem football , g cahill is the bes, Cahill all the way

CAHILL to LFC (£12-14m plus N'gog)
MERTESACKER to ARSE/SPURS
DANN to BWFC or EVERTON
JAGIELKA to ARSE/SPURS
KYRGIAKOS to ATHENS
WILSON to loan @ RANGERS
AYALA to NORWICH C.
WISDOM to be mucho back-up
CARRAGHER to take his coaching badges
KELLY to partner AGGER and CAHILL @CB
Late bid for a DEF.MID. (Sissokho or J.Martinez?) and Park Chu Young (MON) as a striker will conclude business.
I could pretend I know what's going on behind the scenes but I don't.
The above is wishful-thinking and (I genuinely do know) not a million miles from what the staff wanted a couple of months ago
Since May/June the transfer targets have changed quite a lot. The pre-season games showed up some areas we need to improve in. Left-Back wasn't really a top priority (despite the fans' concerns) but Insua's tubbiness, Aurelio's un-fitness, Johnson's injuries and Robinson's pre-pubescence have led to a re-think (hence the signing of Enrique).
Centre-back was always a must but who to get rid of? Kyrgiakos has contributed something since he joined but he's a cumbersome Greek lump of stone and older than Demis Roussos.
Skirtel has some sell-on value but not much...so, is he worth keeping?
Ayala will recoup £500,000, Wisdom can deputise and a fit Kelly will represent England sooner rather than later.
I'm most concerned about our defence so I'll end my post here, without mentioning the need for a DM or a back-up striker/RW.
ANFIELDPETE

P.S. I truly believe in the current regime. I love the KK/SC/DC team and the owners are a breath of fresh air. I'm excited about the new signings and I can't wait for Arsenal away.
Win, lose or draw it's an exciting future for the club and we'll put the fear of God into most of the teams we play this season.
ANFIELDPETE

Cahill would not add goals. Youve seen him score yesterday and think he's the ew Hyypia Let me tell you he isnt.

Cahill would add goals.. he scores an average of 1 goal every 10 games if you look at his scoring record, way more than skrtel (avg. 1 a season), carragher (0 attempts on goal last season) and agger (barely ever fit), an extra 4 goals a season wouldn't go amiss

i believe there is too much talk of cahill for there not to be serious interest from DC and KK,i know you like to sit on the fence but do you think we will sign Gary Cahill,if yes,when? {Ed001's Note - no I don't think we will get him, Bolton have already rejected City and Arsenal's attempts to sign him. They are proving extremely difficult to deal with, partly due to a large sell on clause with Villa.}

See what you mean,but surely cahill would want to join the mighty red men {Ed001's Note - no idea, I have never spoken to the lad to know if he would be keen or not. He might be happy to stay where he is for all I know.}

Bolton are desperate for Striker options, so the deal to involve Ngog might be more appealing to OC. He has probably accepted that Cahill will leave andmight want to bring in a striker plus cash.....Heres hoping ;)

Ed 001,
Would you care to hazard a guess as to who, if anyone, is likely to sign?

Redjinal {Ed001's Note - I had always thought Dann seems the obvious choice, his club do need to sell players, so he would be fairly cheap, he is a Scouser who supports Liverpool and he showed last season that he is an excellent Prem level defender. But we have made no offer for him. That suggests someone else is in mind or we are waiting for him to prove his fitness. I just can't see it being anyone but him or Cahill unless we have a sudden rash of sales.}

Bolton are mid-table at best,cahill has been speculated for a few seasons now so he must be getting sick of it,he is not getting younger now so i reckon he would snap your hand off at a chance to come to the biggest club of all time,just my opinion

He will get u 10 goals a season from set play

Ed no offense but WTF are you on about rejected arsenal and city what have u been reading :L the words from owen coyle "no one has come in for Cahill, there is been speculation and enquirers an till a serious bid comes in he will be a Bolton player" so can u tell me when this transfer window they have rejected bids ...? {Ed001's Note - did I say anything about bids? Just like when Oyston was saying there had been no bid from Liverpool for Charlie Adam, Coyle is not giving the full story. City have tried to discuss a move for Cahill with Bolton, who continually messed them around and they gave up. Arsenal have also been trying to get a deal done but Bolton are refusing to listen to offers. I haven't been reading anything, I have been speaking to someone directly involved in it. If I had read it I would have said I had read it, but I haven't read anything which confirms or denies anything I have been told.}

Sadly think true.really really rate cahill

N'gog 2 Bolton
reported 2 be around £3m

What we pay them 3 million?

Reported where ? Why do people say things liek "Reported" ? You have no idea mate really do you ?

Is it really that hard to type 'to'?

13 Aug 2011 19:01:18
please post,has there even been a discussion about cahill between coyle and kenny cheers {Ed001's Note - it was mentioned during discussions over Ngog's availability, whether it was a serious offer or if Kenny was just tongue in cheek asking about Cahill I have no idea. It is not easy to tell with Kenny, he is very straight-faced and people often assume he is being serious when he is winding them up. Remember the supposed Ian Rush quote about living in Italy being like living in a different country? Dalglish actually said that to a reporter as a wind up and it has become accepted as a true quotation now!}

Let them have carrol i am better than him and i am 61 , any one on the pitch for 90 minutes can do more than him , didnt we learn with this type of player when we had peter crouch , you need versatile players who can do things on their own to win games not ones where we have had to buy half a team to give him service,also up set with kk he is suppossed to know what he is doing.
i know what i am talking about , been there since person white was captain

Ok, mate, you get out the old leather football and continue to tell everyone how old you are and be careful not to fall down them stairs after you attempt to touch the 'this is anfield' sign without pulling a muscle in your back. P.s I expect you not to cheer when he scores for fear of increasing that blood pressure.

Wheres the 5 - 5.30pm announcment of the Cahil signing ? (Earlier post)
I think there is a possibility of us signing him, but your better off not taking any notice of trash bulls**t posts and wait for news from the EDS, if they don't know, then no one else does

Great site BTW

Hi eds just read this, and having heard the rumours of cahill, what do u reckon of:
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is set to step up his pursuit of a centre back and has made a move for Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Dalglish has been one of the busiest Premier League managers during the summer transfer window and has already brought in the likes of, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Doni, Charlie Adam and Jose Enquire on top of January signings Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.

However it doesn't seem like Liverpool's spending spree has finished for this transfer window and during pre season it has been highlighted the Reds are in need of a top centre half and Dalglish has set his sights on Shawcross.

The Potters defender has been in impressive form over the past couple of seasons and his performances last season were an important factor in Stoke getting to the FA Cup final and a place in this seasons Europa League.

Kop boss Dalglish is keen to acquire the 23-year-old, former Manchester United player and it is believed Liverpool are preparing a bid of around £10million.

It is however believed that Stoke manager Tony Pulis and the board value one of their prized assets at £18m.

Last season the England Under 21 international made 44 appearances for Stoke in all competitions and scored two goals.
Me personally would rather have cahill, but who ever KK and DC decide, I will trust there knowledge over mine anyday, thank's ED's. DHH L20 kopite {Ed001's Note - as soon as I saw it was in the Fail I stopped reading, they have no sources at Anfield since they employed McKenzie.}

It was in the mail, so probably mince. so they can have a headline saying "liverpool fail in bid" etc etc. the worst paper around, i heard an advert saying gary neville is writing a column on sundays ? sums them up really

Hope everyone is now boycotting the mail.
remember mckenzie was the one who edited the scum back then and let the filth out. the mail should be avoided every bit as much as the sun now.

Rumour that a bid has been accepted for Gary Cahill of £12m + n'gog and then one of either Danny Wilson or Jonjo Shelvey on loan. Apparently gary said his goodbyes to the bolton staff yesterday.

Even though hes playing today and scored

You can accept a bid for a player and still play them. today was his last game for Bolton. personal terms will be agreed this week.

Love to know why anyone believes this, why would a player say his goodbyes to a team the day before he goes back to the same team to play a match, at least think about your post before you actually post it

Liverpool to offer Ngog plus £10.5m and Wilson on loan for Cahill.

13 Aug 2011 12:37:51
Hi Ed(s).
Sky Bet have reported the following:
'We've seen a fair bit of money overnight for Gary Cahill to Liverpool. We've now cut the Bolton man to 11/8 from 6/5 to go to Anfield'

I know it doesn't mean it's going to happen but the bookies are rarely wrong. There's a sniff of a chance me thinks - what do you reckon Ed?

Roll on 3.00pm - through the wind and rain lads

The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed001's Note - rarely wrong? They had Mata odds on to join City, Liverpool and Arsenal this summer, so they will have to, at the very least, be wrong 2 in 3. They often reduce the price on a transfer they know has no chance of happening just to stir up bets.}

I've explained this a couple of times. If there are a flurry of bets on something to happen, especially if the odds are quite high, the bookies will fabricate new odds to cover their backs if it comes true whilst the bookies themselves bet on it to happen with other companies. The reduced odds encourage more people to bet on it, thus covering the companies when they bet between each other.

It is all about covering of backs.

TSP

It says it in what you wrote ' A fair bit of money overnight '
Meaning it is only because people are betting on it happening, not anything to do with new developments.
I'm sure the same happened with phill jones, in fact they suspended the betting as so many people bet he would join us and look how that turned out.

I'm not saying he won't at all, I hope he does but reading into gambling is not the best way to judge if/when it will happen.

Reports about a bid of 12mil plus ngog seem to be true but there hasnt been anything about bolton accepting it yet. would expect them to demand more money but if we can bring him in then he will be a gd signing and push us into top 4 and possible title challenge {Ed001's Note - it must be remembered that it is unlikely due to there being a sell on clause in his contract. Bolton would get very little from a deal involving a part-ex.}

11/8 from 6/5 is drifting in the betting

Is 6/5 not longer than 11/8 ? or am i just being daft ?

What we need now is a tic tac Man?

13 Aug 2011 12:12:59
Haven't posted in awhile but always check site and I can see a lot of hype around this cahill/ngog thing... Any truth eds? Thanks 2-0 to the pool today and andy carroll to get both I hope as want to see him score goals as I am a bit on the fence with him and his hefty price {Ed002's Note - It is a possibility that has been discussed at length.}

just heard from former reserve player, whos father works with the kids in kirkby pavluchenko may come in as arry wants cash for falcoe

Pretty sure falcao just signed an extended contaract so lies i think.....
Coops

Falcao signed new deal with porto

Why dont WE break the bank,and sign falcao ourselves ?

Think he would be quality back-up myself Think it's unlikely he'll sign though.
Skurks

Reports in london are that daniel levy has flown out to portugal for talks with a player? So it could have legs but i doubt it as pavlyuchenko has expressed his love of tottenham and desire to stay, did hear dempsey

Pavlyuchenko is out to Anzhi in january.

hi Ed's

Any truth in these Cahill bid accepted rumours

atlfc70 {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, only a suggestion was made, no solid bid has been placed as such.}

Hi ed
You say "no solid bid has been placed as such"What do you mean by this?
AL {Ed001's Note - I mean no formal bid has been made as far as I am aware, though a transfer can be done without a formal bid ever being submitted so that means little really.}

13 Aug 2011 10:49:19
The local Bolton newspaper reports that no bids have been made for Cahill, who travelled with the rest of the squad for today's game.

Cahil deal imminent

13 Aug 2011 10:17:00
Word on the street is that Bolton have accepted a bid for Cahill and it will be anounced after the game today? Any thruth in this eds? You have been spot on with everything else so your word is gospel Great site {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware nothing has been done just a suggestion made with regards to the Ngog deal. Bolton have been extremely reluctant to listen to any offers for Cahill, already City and Arsenal have tried and failed to get him. So nothing is definite.}

I suspect aqualani will be moving although I would like to give him atleast 1 season after spending £20m and see how he does. So if he goes it will be around 7-10m as Liverpool will want to recap as much money as possible while not causing other clubs to lose interest. However I can see with the imminent arrival of Cahill and departure of n'gog, KK will want to also give aqualani a run out but have to opt out and sell in order to clear space in midfield and sign park chu-young. What do you think?

Hope what u say happens

Since when has anything on Twitter been official?

No chance............

This isn't the official twitter account of LFC.

I see you never left your name so you won't be shot at when 5 or 5:30pm comes and nothing happens? I think the Ed's would of known something by now if it was true mate {Ed001's Note - he is only repeating the Twitter post to show us isn't he? So it really matters little who s/he is, it is the Twitter account that is giving the info.}

Since when have bids been announced at anfield? what if he fails a medical?

Complete and utter bullrubbish .

AC Milan preparing 7.5 million pound bid for Aquilani.

Why don't we pay them?

"Why Don't we pay them?" Why on earth would we pay them to take a top quality creative midfielder off our hands?

Aquilani to stay FTW. He's had a rough time under Hodgson & Benitez but this could be his time and I say give him a full season and let's see what he can do for us.

Id rather sell Meireles than Aquilani Fair enough Meireles is stronger but he still backs out of tackles and Aqua is the definition of technical excellence. My favourite player by miles with him in the side theres nothing we cant achieve

Aquilini will not be sold for that price

7.5 m yer right keep him i say.if are boy has a good year then sell him for 15m plus.

13 Aug 2011 01:03:02
Is there any truth in the bid for Ryan Shawcross? Mail reporting that we have him as an alternative to Cahill if we cant get Bolton to drop the 17 million price tag. Dann and Godin also still in the frame.
The Poacher

The Mail get their stories from this board.lol

I post this rumour two weeks ago although i did get it wrong in that my sources said he was due to sign last week - Deal for £11m has been agreed but a few issues around wages plus, Stoke had been pushing to get Joe Cole on loan as part of the deal (but we only want to sell) - It will happen

Liverpool FC table £12million offer for Bolton's Gary Cahill

by Richard Buxton, Published Sat 13 Aug 2011 00:25, Last updated: 2011-08-13

Liverpool have reportedly tabled a deal worth £12million to Bolton for Gary Cahill.

The 25-year-old has been tracked by the Reds for several months as Kenny Dalglish looks to bolster his defence before the close of the transfer window on August 31.

Jose Enrique arrived at Anfield yesterday, on the eve of the new Premier League season, and centre-back Cahill is expected to be the final piece of Dalglish's defensive jigsaw.

Back-up striker David Ngog is alleged to have been offered as a makeweight in the deal for the England international, with the Trotters previously said to be keen on his services.

Owen Coyle has previously conceded that Cahill, who enters the final year of his contract at the Reebok Stadium, will only be sold for what he described as "the right fee".

Liverpool had previously considered offering Birmingham defender Scott Dann a return to his home town club but the Championship club's high valuation put paid to their interest.

A move for Ryan Shawcross was also mooted but appeared unlikely with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson understood to be guaranteed first refusal on the Stoke City captain.

Hearing 12 million plus N'gog, all over twitter and been "confirmed" by an ESPN journo, make of it what you will. Don't think its been accepted as of yet

Also eds I was wondering, as everyone keeps going on about perhaps a backup striker, what about Alberto Gilardino, we were linked with him a while back, back when Rafa was here, I know hes old at 29 but hes a proven goal scorer and would surely be a decent buy even just as backup?

RedMog {Ed001's Note - I think it would be a waste of money personally.}

Fair enough Cheers for replying though Just wondering how much he would cost us if you were to hazard a guess... {Ed001's Note - I haven't a clue sorry, I just don't rate him as a player, hence why I feel it would be a waste.}

13 Aug 2011 00:23:34
Liverpool have made a cash + player offer for Gary Cahill

Can you confirm this ed?

Come on man, we all know the eds source is sky sports news. When that yellow bar starts rolling with breaking news on it, that's when they start typing sharpish.

cahill 12m plus ngog - Bolton mulling over but offer is genuine by LFC.

expect this to go through. still backup striker to arrive end of window. Adam Johnson still dependent on nasri to MCFC

13 Aug 2011 00:12:14
EDS have liverpool offered N'gog plus 12 million for Gary Cahill? {Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out there is the possibility but it is not necessarily about a bid for Cahill. Just like the Henderson deal wasn't Ngog + money, it is them bidding for Ngog and us offering them another option.}

12 Aug 2011 23:50:38
Just Heard that LFC has agreed a deal with Bolton Wanderers for Gary Cahill with David Ngog as part of the deal. It should be confirmed after the sunderland game tommorrow.

Nnam

Where did you get this from?

As of now, there is no 'agreement'. The rumour is one of a bid, but this has more to do with their interest in N'Gog and the follow on from that negotiation into another deal/option, 'possibly' involving Cahill. Not much more to it than that at this moment in time.

I think even if the rumour has legs we wont know till monday
