Ed is stirling contract near signed cheers.MATTYLFC {Ed001's Note - I thought it was signed earlier today, but I don't see an official announcement, which is surprising. Mind the club have not been quick with announcements in recent years, sometimes we have to wait months for them to confirm news!}

13 Dec 2012 23:56:06
maybe they didn't wanna steal jones' thunder.

Absolutely brilliant news if its true.

You'd of thought they'd be sining about sterling signing if he had already...hmm !

Sturridge deal has hit a hitch the player wants at least 90,000 per week and chelsea want £15m we only want to give £10m. Ince is a target though that is all on sterlings contract agreement, saturday sterling is to be dropped to bench shelvey suarez sahin to start

SO sahin is vocal of his preferered position being deep and we start him up top! Bull

I wonder what drives people to come up with this kind of rubbish.

Ok then mate, we shall see. Shelvey up top suarez and gerrard supporting we shall see get back with the feedback saturday, and on sturridge wait to see the papers over the weekend...

I hope Sahin does start I want to see what he can do... In the position he is best in though!

Dan.

A transfer hitch for lfc? nooooo surely not!

The players agent rubbished reports as absured that Sturridge has demanded a central role and that he has demanded £80,000k a week

Professional players shouldn't demand what position are they playing in.

If the gaffer thinks you can play in a particular position, which means he have faith in you performing there. So why don't you just play there? It's like working in the office. You boss just gave you extra work to do, that just mean that he have faith in you doing the work. So, why not just do the job?

I think it's very unprofessional for the players to demand what position they want to play in.

On sterlings contract agreement it says buy ince back?

I want to see sahin next to lucas

Fellow reds and eds

Just want to share with you some information.

Ince is not coming back

Shelvey will start ahead of Sterling against Villa.

Sturridge the only signing in January

Rubbish that Shelvey will start ahead of Sterling against villa theyll both play. Believe the rest

Really? Source would be good?

Trust me on that one. Sterling to be rested

This is the 'bib' theory, in training photos on Lfc site sterling is wearing a different colour bib than the rest of the regular first team.

Wow you used the bib theory from the pictures today congrats

I'm expecting more than sturridge and we certainly need more even with borini returning. especially if downing, danny and joe cole leave as rumoured, our squads thin enough as it is.

re: shelvey for sterling on saturday agreed going on the bib theory.

Wooow the bib theory

Suarez dosent even have a bib on... must mean he hasent even made the team.

Danny Wilson was already loaned out. Ya, Sterling needs a rest.

Lie to me Eds and tell me that we are one of the clubs looking at robert lewandowski. He's young. Deadly. And plays in a boring league all be it for the German champions. I've heard they may cash in on him as he's got 1 and a half years left on contract. DBOL {Ed002's Note - Dortmund's Lewandowski was watched last year by Liverpool, PSG, Real Madrid, Rubin Kazan, Manchester United, Spartak Moscow (who were concerned about losing Welliton), Juventus and Lille. I very much suspect Bayern Munich would be top of the list with a cheque in hand should he not agree an extension at Dortmund, but Dortmund certainly do not want to sell him to BM. The other more viable options are Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus (albeit he is now far from first choice for them as they are closing in elsewhere). Chelsea have considered Lewandowski but I don't know of any bid being made and there would not have been a bid anywhere close to the 35M euro Dortmund valued him at. At present Dortmund and the player have been unable to reach agreement over a new deal but that does not mean that they won't. There is no agreement in place for him to join any other club.}

What an insult to call the Bundesliga a boring league!

AZ

How is the german league boring? its a great league to watch and dortmund are 1 of the best sides in europe i fancy them to win the champions league,mark

Thanks for the reply Ed002. I'm well aware Brendan would have a job on his hands convincing him to sign for us but if he did fancy a move to the prem I could only see Liverpool and Arsenal chasing him due to everyone else already having 3 or 4 strikers {Ed002's Note - You are very welcome. I rather think the Old Trafford telescope is pointing in his direction.}

It would be a shame to see this Dortmund team broken up. They have done an amazing job. On another note how many strikers do man utd need? as a liverrpool fan I'd be extremely happy to take any of them
Sam

If he was going to come to the premier league wouldn't he be more likely to join chelsea or city over united, united have RVP, Rooney, Super-sub Hernandez and Wellbeck, City would only have Ageuro in front of him as first choice and Chelsea no one

So who are Juve looking at?? {Ed002's Note - Juventus are looking for two forwards and have been in discussion with Bilbao over Llorente and Sassuolo in respect to Domenico Berardi. They also have shown an interest in Lewandowski, Walcott, Huntelaar, Rodrigo, Lopez and Damiao. A bid was rejected for Dzeko in the summer.}

I'm not in the know.. But why the hell does everyone believe this 35% sell on clause we have on Ince?

Ince left on a free transfer, because his contract ran out. His dad wanted him on first team wages, when he was still 19 years old, playing reserve team football.
Due to him being under 23 (i think that is the cut off point? Eds may be able to clarify) we received a compensation fee. I beleive this fee was around £57,000 if memory serves me correctly?

But he was not sold, we did not let him go due to lack of talent, and there cannot therefore be a sell on clause?

If i'm wrong about anything above, one of the Eds please say, and I'll apologise in advance.

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - Your memory serves you well about the compensation fee and the transaction Adam.}

....Yet on LFCtv yesterday (interview with Steve Staunton and Neil Mellor) it was accepted that we could have him back for next to nothing and he'd probably jump at the chance.
Personally, I wouldn't want the lad back as I've never liked his dad and, as they say....like father like son!

Ed002 there are reports in spain that isaac cuenca may be loaned out in jan, as he is just coming back from injury. Do you think he could come to us on loan for the rest of the season? alternative to jeffren on loan {Ed002's Note - I would think it unlikely.}

13 Dec 2012 14:21:18
Hi Ed's,

Just a quick question, I know this name popped up a few times before but I have heard that Demba Ba is to leave Newcastle. Can any of the Ed's or even Macca confirm if he is possibly Liverpool bound as a backup to failed bids for anybody that would be top of Liverpools list for the January transfer window. I know he has not been playing as well as previous seasons but a change of club can be very good for players from time to time and his style would suit the way we play at the moment.

Irishblog {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, there is no chance he is coming here, though it does seem he is going to end up moving soon. I would expect it to be in the summer though, rather than January.}

I believe Raheem Sterling has today signed a new 4 year contract with the club which will announced today or tomorrow. TonyL

I believe u have got Raheem mixed up with Brad! Who it has just been announced has signed a new deal!

Let's hope this is true

13 Dec 2012 19:55:40
Coz Its very easy to confuse the two, leem

Being reported in the wider media now.... remember where you heard the news guys.... TonyL

13 Dec 2012 13:54:39
Just heard on all RSS sites that Criatian Tello has signed a contract extension with Barca.

However interesting news is that his buy out clause is 10m Euros or £8.1m.

Eds - Are Liverpool still interested in Tello, as 8m for someone who was a star at La Masia and did very well in Barca first team last season and is still very young at 21. {Ed001's Note - I don't know if we still hold interest in him, we haven't had him scouted recently, that I know of, but we would have a very full dossier on him already. Makes it difficult to know, but I would expect we are keeping tabs on him and, if that price is correct, that would have to make him a possible option.}

13 Dec 2012 13:41:21
Ed's, thanks for all your hard work, interesting info. and good sense of humour. Just wondering if Isaac Cuenca of Barcelona could be a realistic loan-target for LFC in January. He seems gifted, hard-working and able to score goals, and he knows how to play the system.

Do you know if BR have any interest in this player?

Rob D {Ed001's Note - Borrell and Segura both recommended the club look at him, he has been looked at, but we have never been able to get a deal made for him to join. I doubt there is any interest in getting him on loan though.}

13 Dec 2012 13:02:32
Hello Eds.
I m tired of all these rumour of cavani lorenta and marque signing. I knw there is very small budget. So lfc nt in position to sign big player. Expect sturidge ince arrive for 18m and jeffern sanchez on loan. Thats the busines lfc will do in jan.
Thanx.

Ahhh good old Jeffren Sanchez

13 Dec 2012 13:50:11
18M is still a very decent January budget but the Football Manager generation don't always seem to understand that.

If you are really tired pls have some rest...

Alexis sanchez wouldn't be a 'big' enough player for you?

I think he meant Jeffren or Sanchez.

Unfortunately none of those players improve us.

Jeff Sanchez, Ken Aguero whos next Deidre Rashid?

So we have 18m ? Not me, you or any liverpool fan know what the budget is. And we as fans have absolutely no control of who the club bring in. We just all gotta trust BR and get behind whoever he gets. We ain't getting Sanchez pal we haven't got a prayer in that 1

13 Dec 2012 11:56:07
hi eds, when do you think is the best time for lfc to make a bid for Xabi Alonso? {Ed002's Note - I am not convinced it would happen but look to a pre-contract in January 2014.}

Im sick of this crap, typical liverpool fans looking back and not forward. Get your head out of the past, we want young talented players not 30+ ones.

January transfer window 2013 {Ed002's Note - In which case I suspect money will be an issue.}

Well its the "Beckham rule" at play here....

Alonso doesnt want to renew his contract bcoz he may allegedly be paying less tax than he would have to if he signs a new contract.....But again I am not sure if this would apply to him bcoz he is a Spanish citizen...

Probably the same reason why Ronaldo is sad

13 Dec 2012 11:29:13
Hey Eds. Really appreciated the great job you're all doing. Was just wondering, what are the chances of something unexpected happening in regards to players brought in next month? Thanks a lot {Ed002's Note - Expect the unexpected.}

Do you mean unexpected as in we sign a massive sought after striker instead of Sturridge!!

"what are the chances of something unexpected happening" this is best thing I've read on this site so far!

My guess is on one of three outcomes: 1) We buy some overated underachieving completely inept player(s) for way over their real value; 2) We miss out on some wow factor players because we arent prepared to up our valuation by an extra £1m, or; 3) FSG continue to keep their hands firmly entrenched within their shallow pockets and consider that we already have a great sqquad who can not only rise to a late challenge for the top 4, but also dark horse outsiders to win the league.

Hate to be negative and will be glad to be wrong.

Doesn't that depend on what you are expecting?

Dont lie, you love to be negative

But if we expect the unexpected does this not then become the expected, probably making the thing that we initially expected then unexpected. Making the people who think Cavani, Falcao and Messi to swoop in like three avenging angels right in the first place?

I'm really not expecting much and Ed's have suggested a number of players we have looked at and are possibly interested in. So the unexpected would be an unlikely name. Do the owners have the capacity to surprise us?

I am not expecting us to sign the hulk - however the avenger is available on a free. The only stumbling block might be the cost of replacement kit every time he gets angry.

13 Dec 2012 11:23:30
I don't get much real info but one of my old colleagues gets solid info from Old Trafford - he reckons that Liverpool have made a second approach to Barca trying to prise Alexis Sanchez out on loan and that Man U, Arsenal and Tottenham have all asked to be informed if the player does become available.

KH

Exact the same words as the newspapers. Maybe he got his info from there.

13 Dec 2012 11:17:33
Hi Ed's,

Question if I may...

Are you aware of us being interested in any players (apart from Sturridge and walcott) that are out of contract; playing in Europe who we could sign n a pre-contract but would wait for to the summer to sign (and obviously have a good chance of them agreeing to join us)?
Thanks

Hoola {Ed002's Note - Sturridge will not be out of contract. There are obviously lots of players who are out of contract this summer and several who are high profile (Llorente, Huntelaar are the two obvious ones) and, yes, interest was shown in Huntelaar.}

13 Dec 2012 11:16:18
Is there a chance of getting Jesus Navas ? I think this guy is the real deal
El Capitano {Ed002's Note - No.}

If i remember correctly, this guy suffers from bad homesickness

Yes, he will never leave Sevilla. He is so homesick by reports that he has been comforted by Ramos and others on trips with the national team.

13 Dec 2012 11:05:04
eds is there a possibility of a xabi alonson return i know there has been rumors but can this happen?
thanks,cant stay off this site lol CHEERS {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath for a return in January.}

Alonso is no the Alonso of 2005 and I cant see him coming into this Liverpool side and making a massive impact. I would love to see him at Anfield but for nostalgia reasons but we need long term squad investments and to stop living in a bygone era, have faith in the youn players coming through!

13 Dec 2012 10:05:29
Is Kevin Gameiro of PSG a suitable option? good striker, who is obviously not going to get in front of Ibrahimovic, I think we should snap him up before Everton do, face it if we bought either Jelavic or Mirralas before they did we wouldnt be in this postition. {Ed002's Note - There has been long term interest in Gameiro from Lille and both Everton and Kuban Krasnodar are showing interest in the player.}

13 Dec 2012 09:58:28
Hi Eds,

Any chance Suso will go on loan in jan or summer?

a year of 1st team football could be just what he needs.

Dr. Sanchez {Ed002's Note - I don't know. If BR decides he does not need him as cover then perhaps. However, he would also need to be aware that he could be leaving the squad a little thin.}

13 Dec 2012 09:46:06
Ed...
any chance of antonio Di natale?
the guy is quality..
since udineese is doing horrible...
can we snatch him?? {Ed002's Note - No.}

The guy is 35...

Erik Oslo

He is 45 already....

Do you know anything about football

He is 35...he can be a aquad player..
huntelar is 29, so was bellammy and gerrard..
ridiculous...did u see him play against us?? he is quality, if he is 23 or 36..
its better to buy quality than someone like caroll...

Buddy the man is that old he farts cobwebs when gassy...if you are more than 12 shame on you sir

Eds, I was just wondering if you could perhaps tell us has anyone ever shown an interest in Di Natale? Curiosity also brings to ask, why has no top club snapped him up? He's such a class act even at 35 years of age and spent most of his career at Udinese. {Ed019's Note - He's loyal to his club}

13 Dec 2012 08:53:31
I don't think Huntelaar and Walcott will be moving anywhere in Jan. It will make more sense to both to leave when their contracts run out in the summer, and receive a pay out. Plus at the end of the season the champ league teams are decided. I would be very surprised if any one of them left.

PS- heres to us spending decent money on a decent partner for Suarez and not...well Sturridge

Outtheloop {Ed002's Note - Signing on fees can still be paid for a move in January - but they would be less than if there was no transfer fee to be paid.}

13 Dec 2012 06:57:59
Is Dries Mertens available? If yes , for how much ? I'd rather take him than sturridge and ince {Ed002's Note - I don't see Mertens moving to LIverpool in January. If he moves next summer I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich although there remains serious interest from Lazio.}

13 Dec 2012 05:12:56
i was told couple days ago in monaco, by norwegian ex scout tor-kristian karlsen that liverpool is negotiating with santos for a transfer of young midfielder felipe anderson, and that he expected that it was a close to done deal.
ive never watched brazilian league before, could anyone tell me what kind of player he is? offensive, defensive, pacy, skillfull?
any reply would be appreciated

cheers

Would love if was true he is a wonderful young talent but somehow doubt it as would cost big investment, money we don't have...

I'm waiting for a punch line.. ' I was in FRANCE with a NORWEIGAN talking about a BRAZILIAN... ' Really?? {Ed002's Note - France was not mentioned.}

Ed my friend I'm sure Monaco is in France? Ha {Ed002's Note - Somehow that doesn't surprise me that you think it is France. Given I lived there for many, many years, you would think I would have known that.}

Monaco isnt France? have you been outside of the brittish islands, or studied geography in school? {Ed002's Note - "Brittish" islands, eh?}

The Ed is right, Monaco is its own country, yes it borders France but not in France! Ought to check yourself before handing out abuse to the eds maybe? :|

Well Monaco is a country just outside France, even if AS Monaco plays in Ligue 2. And if your wondering Tor Kristian Karlsen is the CEO of AS Monaco.

So I guess Ed002 has been ou of the Brittish islands..... knobheads!

Norwegian Blob

Wow......................just wow

Mr T

Monaco is a principality not a country

Monaco is the second smallest country in the world. Fact. Nobody cares. But fact.

Anyway is there any chance of Benzema signing for Liverpool or is he more likely to end up in Monaco ? {Ed002's Note - I would doubt January will see Benzema playing for either club. Monaco did manage to lure Lucas Ocampos in the summer.}

13 Dec 2012 04:53:11
Hi Eds, Joe Cole and Downing had been featured in the first team over recent games. Will they still be sold in January? {Ed002's Note - I suspect that they will be available to be sold.}

12 Dec 2012 23:15:09
Eds, any legs in this Villareal's Matteo Musachio story? Do you rate him? How much is he going for?

Noski {Ed001's Note - we did have an interest a few years back, since then he has suffered a bit with injuries, so I have a feeling this is just a revival of an old story. As for rating him, I do like him, but he seems fragile, quick though.}

Id rather go for inigo martinez, one of the most promising cb in a long time, and surerly he gotta have higher ambitions than sociedad.
