Hey Eds any chance of us signing Yilmaz from Gala or Jackson Martinez?
Both are quality strikers and could be affordable I think
Cheers, Zincho {Ed002's Note - Burak Yilmaz has attracted interest in the past year from Sevilla, Spurs, Fulham, Dortmund, Beyer Leverkusen and Newcastle. There are also unconfirmed rumours of interest from Liverpool dating from as long ago as early June last year. Lazio and Lokomotiv Moscow have both spoken with the player after the clubs agreed that they would meet the asking price from Galatasaray - but I would think that has now risen with his recent performances. Atletico Madrid are very keen to discuss a move for the player.

Jackson Martinez only recently moved to Porto but they are prepared to cash in on him with interest from Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona. Porto will seek his full release clause of 40M euro but would likely need to settle for less. Atletico Madrid are seeking further talks and te others seem to have baulked at the cost.}

Hi Eds, thanks for this great site. Was wondering that as BR has said he is looking on bringing in 3 or 4 quality players what you think of Kelly or Wisdom playing next season at Centre Back? Carragher started as right back and progressed to Centre and these two seem to be similar to me. I'm sure a quality CB is needed to replace Carragher & Skrtl but could Kelly/Wisdom be third choice? Also as BR has said 4 quality players what positions do you think these are? Goalkeeper, CB and. ? LB and. ? {Ed002's Note - I think they stand a very good chance of being defenders who can be used flexibly like JC. Pushed for four, a GK, a CB, a MF and a wide player with perhaps a second younger CB to replace Coates. Anything else will likely be driven by sales.}

So eds your saying we have the ability to sign 4 players for those positions without having to sell first? {Ed002's Note - I don't think you will find I said that. CBs are being looked at because it is likely folks are leaving. Don't complicate something that is pretty simple.}

CB to replace Skrtel - Stefan de Vrij £8m
CB/RB/DM to replace Carragher - Carlos Zambrano £5m
CB/RB to replace Coates - (which we have in kelly)
DM to replace Spearing - Manuel Iturra (free agent)
LW to replace Assaidi - Marco Rojas £1m (compensation)
ST to replace Carroll - Kevin Gameiro £6m

The rest in
Goal keeper - Ochoa (free agent)
Left Back - Cheikh M'Bengue £5m
Creative Mid - Christian Eriksen £16m
Wide player - Hatem Ben Arfa £18m

others out
pacheco
ngoo
wilson
gulacsi

£60m to be spent on players
£40m+ gained from players sold

Eds, there seems to be some hype surrounding this Sofiane Feghouli of a player. Are these links to Liverpool really true? What do you think about his abilities? {Ed002's Note - Whilst Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli was stalling on signing a new contract in January, his agents were scurrying around looking for interest in the player as leverage or as an alternative to Valencia should he be sold. A number of high-profile clubs were approached to see if they would be interested in the player but it would be nothing but speculation on my part to suggest serious interest of not. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool and Southampton (and probably others) were invited to take a look at the player but he was to depart for the ACON. However, Paris Saint-Germain has made more than one approach for the player but were told that he is not available. Since then a new contract has been agreed with Valencia and if they were to sell in the summer because of financial difficulties then they would look for a couple of teams to be keen enough to push up the price - otherwise they will look to hold on to the player.}

Any chance of Schalke's Julian Draxler ed's? I've liked the look of him for a while and he was unplayable at times last night. Cheers.

Harty {Ed002's Note - Both Milan clubs, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea have enquired at one level or another abour Draxler - each has met a "not for sale" barrier.}

Ed could you just briefly say why you expect Reina to leave. He wants to leave, Loss of form, money, all three?
Or do you see us bringing in another GK for a season to compete with him? and as a long term replacement.
It's just that reading onhere it looks like he is certain to leave. {Ed002's Note - "Why" is not a question that is worth trying to answer. Clearly there is interest in him from elsewhere and clearly Liverpool has been looking at other goalkeepers. Whether he actually goes in the summer or not we will need to wait and see as further information becomes available.}

Cheers Ed, I remember he nearly left fr I think it was the Gunners? But I always had the feeling It was because he believed other clubs would offer him more chance of success at the time. I guess I just wanted to know if it's him that's keen on a move or the club want rid? {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to get in to such discussions, but as I have said there will be lots of goalkeepers switching clubs this summer and there is a good chance Reina will be one. Begovic will be off, Valdes, ter Stegen and no doubt others. Atletico has shown an interest in Reina but would prefer another year loan for Courtois. Arsenal are interested in Valdes but likely still maintain an interest in Reina.}

Hi,

Glad someone has finally asked this question. I personally cannot see him going to arsenal, maybe he will go back to Spain if anywhere.

I've got a feeling he will stay, even though there is plenty of evidence to the contrary. Reina and his young family are settled in Liverpool, therefore I can't see him wanting to up routes and leave lpool.

Hi Eds,

Can you shed any light on the rumour news last night and this morning that we have an agreement to sign Manuel Iturra in the summer.

Do you believe this is correct.

Also he is a midfielder, does this mean that either Henderson and Shelvey are leaving in the summer or going on loan?

Or is he a replacement for Spearing?

Thanks,

The Red Indian {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of a pre-contract being signed, but he is available in the summer and is able to sign a pre-contract now. I don't know much of him but he plays in a similar role to Lucas.}

Every time I've seen him he has been a hatchet man, reminds me of Poulson, maybe slightly better tho

hye eds,
any chance Liverpool will sign lazar markovic in the summer?
thank you. {Ed002's Note - I would very much doubt it at this time.}

I think the 2 Milan clubs are paying very close attention to him, I'd expect him to sign for Inter - it's a pity because he looks like he will be a star.

SMc {Ed002's Note - I wouldn't hold your breath. There are ongoing discussions with his new agent and two clubs - neither are Italian.}

He is not good enough for Liverpool and he is injury prone in Serbian league. What is five times easier to play than Premier league. Maybe after a few years in Italy he could reach the level needed to play for Liverpool. Serbian red

Hi eds.
Ed2 has mentioned that a few clubs will/may be clearing some of their players over the summer. Can I ask which clubs you believe these to be? I have seen you mention Bayern as perhaps one.
Would these players move for a a slashed fee or not? i. e. would Mario Gomez (who you've said will move on) be attainable for Liverpool perhaps?
Also do you think Liverpool could maybe look to some of these players, if interest exists of course or do you imagine wages would prove a problem?
Appreciate all the word you're doing, keep it up!
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I think you perhaps misunderstand what has been said about the coming season. Certainly don't expect transfer fees to be "slashed". Bayern Munich will be making significant changes this summer with the likes of Gomez moving on. Gomez wants to move to England, as do a number of other German and Germany-based players. Wages are negotiable and players know when they move it does not mean they will be able to get the same or better deal. In order for clubs to make the changes they want they have to create space in the squad and to raise funds. Although Spain is suffering financially, the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are continuing to look at an ever more expensive market and need to sell or trade to buy. Atletico are in a position where this is more difficult due to a high third party ownership quota amongst the squad. In England Chelsea will be looking to complete the rebuild of the squad by moving players on and buying a couple or so and bringing others back from loan. Juventus have targets and need to free up space. Inter has set more austere targets.}

What does austere mean? {Ed002's Note - They are going to be very, very careful with their spending, so have set lower-profile targets for the summer than some clubs.}

Gomez wants to come to England?!

The same Gomez who so nearly signed with us on loan during the awful Hodgson era? Who at the time was happy to be linked with Liverpool?

If we broke the bank for him - Gomez, Suarez, Sturridge - wow that would be amazing.

Douglas contract expires this summer any chance of signing him with the expected centre back departures?

Would be a good addition as he is free, very strong and good in the air and would be good as 1st team player alongside Agger or as back up. {Ed002's Note - Reading, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Rubin Kazan and Ajax have all shown interest in Twente's Douglas in the recent past but Inter would like to take him for defensive cover.}

Liverpool are set to hand a contract to young Hungarian defender, Kristof Polgar, according to the Express.

This is true. I'm from Hungary and was at yesterdays U18 international match when one member of the coaching staff told me this like a fact.

Tony Barrett said Liverpool are looking at Ben Arfa, Markovic, Eriksen, Martins-Indi and DeVrij as potential moves for next summer window. With Ashley Williams also being strongly linked with a move as a long term replacement for both Carra and Skrtel.

Tony Barett uses a Ouija board or twitter gossip, whichever is less reliable, instead of a keyboard these days. He's just taking shots in the dark until he can get a decent source inside LFC to talk to him again.

SpudRed

Wow, Ashley Williams must be some player if he's replacing 2 players: let's hope he isn't another sicknote!
