Liverpool are still interested in, Konoplyanka.

Cheers

Macca

Believable11 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Wolfsburg, Napoli, Roma, Sevilla, West Ham, Spurs, Shakhtar and Bayer Leverkusen have shown recent interest in Konoplyanka who is able to sign a pre-contract with any non Ukrainian side. Sevilla, Spurs, Napoli and Roma have put the most effort in to trying to put a deal in place for the summer and his representatives have rejected an offer from West Ham, telling them his preferred destination is Arsenal. If Liverpool are going to look to the player again (and I don't know that they are), then it would be perhaps to replace Sterling. Dnipro have additionally offered him a new contract.}

Thanks very much macca & ed, though I still think salah would be a better buy if we could persuade him.

Salah would cost!!! Konoplyanka was superb last night

15 May 2015 08:51:42
Kono sure was great last night!

15 May 2015 08:51:53
Well that can't be true, Rodgers said himself that we had plenty of wingers hence we weren´t intrested in Depay.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 09:06:42
Mmmm, cause it's not like Rodgers to fudge himself with his mouth. If true, what a player and he has only improved since we bid around £12m last summer. Better player for free (yes,nothing's free) it's surely a no brainer.
Can he not play up front? Or a front four or Sterling Coutinho Ibe and Kono all swapping wings and central. Defenders nightmare.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 May 2015 10:36:46
Rodgers categorically denied ballotelli

Agree0 Disagree1

15 May 2015 11:03:17
I know, I was being ironically. To be honest we have plenty of players in this position. I know he is free, but bringing this guy in would mean that £20 million Markovic won´t be used. Furthermore, the likes of Ojo, Teixeira, Kent and Wilson will get fewer chances to break into the 1st team.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 11:11:50
The four you mention are not ready. We need proven quality for once.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 11:38:14
Complete no brainer if he's on a free. Very clever player who always asks questions of defences. If we're getting £30-40m for Sterling and Kono for free I'll be well made up.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 11:59:43
Ed would he still be instead of sterling like you mentioned?also would he come if he gets into champs league

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed as far as I know.}

15 May 2015 12:46:34
As back up to Lallana, coutinho, sterling, markovic and Ibe? Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 15:47:50
None of the above are true wide players, which konoplyanka is. I also believe he is better than all of the above. bar coutinho who isn't a wide player

Been told today that our beloved club are looking at Fonte to shore up our leaky defence. Can you shed anymore light on whether or not this transfer rumour gas any legs or is it just more gutter journalism to sell papers

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - lots of clubs have looked at Fonte, but his age has ruled out a move as Southampton aren't willing to sell and no one will pay the price they are asking for someone of his age.}

SUMMARY!!!!

Ings - every chance this will go through

Vietto - talking to Atletico Madrid regarding replacing Griezmann

Heung Min Son (I suspect it would be very difficult to make happen as he seems very happy where he is and will be playing in the Champions League)

Carlos Vela (looked at recently but nothing more)

Aubameyang (looked at and there may be interest from Liverpool - he is keen on a move to Italy but the most interested side, Juventus, are now out of the running)

Gameiro (his stock is on the rise but Liverpool have had no recent contact (according to a representative of another interested club))

Baez (an update from last night - Liverpool have been told to say if they are still interested in Baez or not - and if they are to make an offer which is much improved over that offered to Juventud previously as there is growing interest from other clubs and they need to make their mind up)

Kishna (all English interest has gone or never materialised according to De Boer)

Lacazette (another English side met with Lyon about Lacazette and a number of other issues on April 9 and any move this summer, particularly to England, is not viable right now)

Firmino (he will most probably move to another English side who have had discussions with his club and put a couple of offers on the table)
Depay (moving elsewhere)

Bakkali (interest will have gone)

Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return)

Walcott (if Sterling were to leave then a move for Walcott may be considered)

Cheryshev (if Sterling were to leave then a move for Cheryshev may be considered)

I would not be surprised if Liverpool looked at Higuain if he became available at the right price. Jese may well be available on loan - perhaps he could be considered?

Begovic (There is interest in Begovic from elsewhere but not at this time from Liverpool.)

Alvarado Arbeloa (There is no interest right now, so no.)

Aleksandar Mitrović (Offers everything Liverpool are missing - There is interest in Anderlecht's Aleksandar Mitrović from Manchester United, Swansea, Dortmund, Newcastle and Eintracht Frankfurt. The interest of Leicester and Bayern Munich seems to have gone, but Arsenal may just look again at the player - depending on which direction they wish to go given their first choice as opted to moved elsewhere. The interest from Manchester United is recent and ramping up I am told. Newcastle are likely not an option.)

Christian Benteke (I am not sure, I know we had interest in the past, before his injuries, I really hope we don't but it wouldn't surprise me if we had interest in a player so unsuited to our play.)

Iker Casillas ( I would doubt it but Casillas might yet be an expensive option for Arsenal or Liverpool, but he is certainly very keen on a move to England. Real Madrid will offer him an extension if they cannot bring in the goalkeeper they desire.)

Matteo Darmian (Interest, but not from Liverpool.)

Kovacic (As for Kovacic as I explained last week, Piero Ausilio, Inter's Sporting Director who was just entering a restaurant to discuss the transfer of the player, told a Spanish journalist that Liverpool had made a "funny little joke" with a €10M offer.)

Arda Turan (Ahmet Bulut continues to whip things up, but this time he is correct that Arda Turan will very probably be available to move in the summer - however it will take a bid of around €40M for any sort of deal to happen - plus very significant wages and plus Champions League football. Atletico Madrid have twice rejected offers from Schalke but the only club that has shown any real interest at this time is Galatasaray, and the cost would be an issue. Don't rule out interest from Bayern Munich or Manchester United at some point. Bulut has spoken with a number of sides about the player - and there remains aslim chance that Atrsenal could turn to Arda. Atletico will negotiate as they need the money for the summer with bids for Cavani and Vietto coming)

Milner ( I really don't know what Milner wants but he will look to his options. Liverpool remain very keen although it would not be a surprise if his wage demands were an issue.)

Hernanes (A little bit of a wild card, but here goes. Talks with Barcelona over Kovacic have not really come to any useful conclusion and no one seems interested in putting any sort of acceptable offer on the table for him Inter need to sell a couple of midfield players to bring in the replacements they want - like Liverpool they are constrained by previous spending and the FFP rules. So, Inter now say they will keep Kovacic as no deal seems possible, and will make another player available - so I will throw the name of Brazilian Hernanes in to the ring as a player Liverpool might well consider. I appreciate that at 30 he is far from young, but he would be a very worthy free kick taking, goal scoring central midfield addition to the squad - and one to ably replace Gerrard. He is available and will be at a price that would suit Liverpool.)

Matthew Ryan (last I heard, despite his desperation to get a move to Liverpool, it was not happening.)

And here is where we do believe there is interest:

GK: Patricio, Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed to some extent as Atalanta and the player heard about the interest from an Italian journalist), Romero, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.

RB: I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that Manquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority.

LB: Sam Byram has been watched.

CB: A new deal has been offered to Toure and he will be considering his options. I doubt a CB is a priority - at least not before the club clear out some of those already on the books (Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Ilori, Coates, Paez, Lloyd Jones and Kolo Touré).

MF: I understand from an ex-German international that Liverpool have watched Lars Stindl on more than one occasion this season but he has decided to reject the interest of Liverpool and will move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer.

Would that be a good window?

If I just could eds, an update regarding interest in
- Inigo Martinez?
- Petr Cech?
- Kasper Smeichel?
- Timo Horn?

Tried to find anything "new" when making the summary, but didn't find anything that would have satisfied the readers. ;-)

Have a great day every ed on here.

Ed am i right in thinking our interest for attacking options is in
heung min son(very difficult)
Aubameyang
Ings(lots of clubs too choose from)
Vela
Lacazette is going nowhere and vietto is wanted by too many big clubs.

14 May 2015 19:09:05
Ed O2 you mentioned jese do you mean are real Madrid? Don't know much about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Jese Rodriguez is again going to seek assurances about playing time that I am not so sure Real Madrid will agree to. On the basis of this he has said he may be forced to leave the club. Completely recovered from his crutiate injury Lazio, Inter, Milan and Bayer Leverkusen have made clear their interest in signing the player and Aston Villa, Napoli, Malaga, West Ham United and Everton have all shown an interest in taking him on loan - which will be more palatable to Real Madrid as they are moving in to a potentially difficult period regarding transfers (with a possible ban looming). Interest from Chelsea is dependent upon what happens elsewhere with interest in players.}

14 May 2015 19:12:31
Ed do you think Napoli would be willing to sell Higuain?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - PSG may look to Higuain if Cavani is sold and Benzema not available. Arsenal may turn to Higuain as an option if they cannot bring in their first choice. And Manchester United may consider Higuain again. If Liverpool had achieved Champions League football he may have been a player they would look to - and perhaps they could still. It is not out of the question that he could stay at Napoli to see how he gets on post Benitez.}

A question for Ed001 if possible. I know you were a fan of Gary medel, as I am, is there any hope of us going for him? He seems ideal for us in that DM role, a total bull of a player, I can't really understand why we haven't busted a gut to get him.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - no sorry, we had a chance to get him in the summer but didn't want to know. I believe that to be a major mistake.}

14 May 2015 12:20:18
Hi eds, was just wondering if the interest that we held in Matthew Ryan still stands. from what i have seen looks a good keeper and would either push migs for first team spot or just knock migs clean out the way, he has been interviewed and said that a move to Anfield would be a move he is interested in.

thanks

Hi Eds, reading today that Stoke are willing to let Begovic go this summer and they're listen to offers around 8m, would we be interested?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Begovic from elsewhere but not at this time from Liverpool.}

14 May 2015 06:41:30
Hi ed002 I've got a couple of questions, hope you can answer them.

1. You seem to know the Webster ruling well so can I ask if there are limitations such as age of player and length of contract. Specifically I'm thinking about Walcott - age 26, 1 year left on contract. Could he buy out his final year and become a free agent?

2. Last season the majority of posters (myself included) favoured signing Moreno as a shiny new left back whereas you suggested Bertrand would be a better option. No question as to who's had the better season! With that in mind who should we aim for at right back or should we persevere with Manquillo/Wisdom or even Randall until Flanagan is fit.

Btw great insight about Hernanes; a cracking player who would be a great buy.

Thanks in advance if you have the time to answer.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - 1. On January 19, 2016 TW would be able to buy out the remainder of his contract (6 month) out - being under 28 and having signed it three years before (over 28 the rule is that a player can buy the remainder of the contract out two years after they signed the deal). Walcott won't; and at that time he could be talking with other clubs outside of the EPL if he wanted to.

2. I think much of the issue surrounding the right back will dependent on whatever system the manager wants to play next season. If it is Rodgers and the preference for three centre backs and wing backs then I would think there might be a chance that Ibe is tried at right wing back. I mentioned a while ago that Darmain is a right back to look out for, but I don't see a move to Liverpool happening. Certainly Liverpool have looked at Byram who may be an option, and a while back Cancelo - but nothing will happen with him. If it were my choice and a right back was needed, I would suggest someone take a close look at Brugge's Thomas Meunier - he has a growing reputation and is certainly one for the future.}

14 May 2015 17:20:59
Cant remember what ed it was but they suggested that the club should go all out to sign Moreno so there must b a reason. I wasnt blown away by the performances this season to be fair, but he will need time.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I made the situation with Moreno crystal clear - stay away.}

14 May 2015 20:29:29
Cheers Ed002, didn't mean to point the finger or generalise, just can't remember what ed said it

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - nobody said we should go all out for him. I said he was the best we were interested in as he was good going forward but had reservations over his defensive awareness. I hoped they could be sorted with good coaching though.}
