Fox sports US reprting Dempsy deal done. 11M euros. {Ed028's Note - euros? fulham are a british club so why would they pay in euros and fox sports is american? ME NO UNDERSTAND}

No they're not. I'm in Florida right now and there's nothing.

Eds. why does BBC World service always quote $US ? {Ed002's Note - It is a common currency for many nations. The value is understood against the local currency.}

Could be one of two things... 1. Fulham asked for the money in euros so they could use them to pay for some one and avoid changing money themselves and it's associated fees. Or 2. The Americans are confused as to why we don't use the euro so they just assume we do. {Ed002's Note - If Fox gave a figure in a newscast in the US it would be in US$ nothing else. There is no convaluted answer to this matter.}

Ed02 is correct. Although euros are also easy to understand as they're worthless ;-)

Fox news have reported many more ridiculous things....

Evening Eds and fellow Reds fans,

Im in portugal on holiday and ive heard about Andy Carrolls possible/potential move away from Liverpool.

The RUMOUR here is that Cavani or Rondon will replace him if Liverpool can get cash (not a loan) move for him.

Obviously this is a rumour from a HANDFUL of Liverpool fans here and just coz im in Portugal is of no relevance, however, I wanted to know what the likelihood of this outcome is........Eds???

Thanks

Kam {Ed028's Note - i wouldnt see cavani making his way to liverpool anytime soon}

I would love that rumour to be true but if Cavani moves this summer it will be after the Olympics and to Spain after Real Madrid ships out Higuain or Benzema to make way for him.

ED02 can i clear up this Carrol story

Liverpool want to sell him rather then loan him

Newcastle approached us over a loan move today with an option to buy

But we are likely to reject it you expect Newcastle to make another bid and a player may be included BA maybe

Fulham also are interested and maybe wanted him in a deal for Dempsey

Is this correct are there any more clubs who may want him?

RED91

{Ed002's Note - I suspect Liverpool would rather sell than loan Carroll. The rest is correct as far as I know. Have you signed up for the Ed002 Appreciation Society at: tinyurl.com/7fbgecd }

Ed do you think ben arfa may be offered in part exchange as i know they are willing to sell him? {Ed002's Note - Probably not.}

The way Andy Carroll is being treated is a disgrace and the club should be ashamed of themselves. This is NOT the Liverpool way.

Pushing this appreciation site ain't ya...?

Rob

There is no way that Ben Arfa would be part of any deal, unless LFC are willing to pay £20 million PLUS Carroll. As for Ba being part of the deal, the release clause in his contract is for Champions League teams only, any other club have to pay the market price (Carroll PLUS £4 million should do it).

DearEd002 , are you kinda trying to market yourself :P {Ed002's Note - We are having a bit of a boost at the moment.}

To the reply that reckons £20 million plus Carroll for Ben Arfa, are u a mad man, so, going on your reply, you have Ben Arfa's price at £35-£40 million, absolute utter tosh, you obviously have no clue on what these players values are.... DELUDED...

STEVE
RED4LIFE

What?? 20 million plus Andy Carroll for Ben Afra-season?? Hilarious. Another Geordie drunk trolling the LFC rumours site.

I just hope this is all some elaborate ploy to build up Andy's confidence by seeing how many other teams want him - and for how much. But somehow I doubt it......

Have you signed up for the Ed002 Appreciation Society at: tinyurl.com/7fbgecd }

No, I signed up to the Ed209 appreciation society by mistake. You have 20 seconds to comply !

And they still hit the believable and unbelievable buttons, how many of u persons out there?!!!

15 Jul 2012 21:49:26
Okay im sitting here trying to think of likely players liverpool are going to sign and seeing as you eds look at things from anbetter point of view and have more inside info than i do myself can you please just tell me who liverpool are close to signing or are deeply interested in with bids, enquirees etc.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Dempsey seems close. Have you signed up for the Ed002 Appreciation Society at: tinyurl.com/7fbgecd }

Dempsey is BR choise or fsg choise? What do you think ed

Reports from America states that Dempsey has agreed to join Liverpool and that he will be announced during the tour? Do you know if that is true? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed028's Note - I think it would be publicized before they go on tour...excites the fans more}

Just dempsey? I guess we are going to make more bids and enquirees once we return from our US tour

15 Jul 2012 21:47:53
ian abrahams from talksport saying that clint dempsey close to joining. And that alonso may return now that modric appears to be off to real. Then again he was sure Klopp would be our manager so..

If he told me the date, I'd still check a calendar. He knows nothing. Don't believe him.

The moose is a grade a dingo. The cheeky girls know more about the transfer market than him.

15 Jul 2012 21:25:26
Are the Walcott rumours true? I personally think he could be a good coup, many exclaim he doesn't have an end product but he proved at the euros he does! Jimo

So now you want to suggest we buy a player based on tournament displays, whilst stating it proves he does have an end product, despite consistantly proving he doesn't over several seasons.

You obviously don't remember the likes of Diao and Babb.

I'd have him and play him as a right sided striker, he's shown he can finish and has great pace. Not a winger for me though.

Mark the Selby Red

Yes he did indeed. One goal from outside the box which he himself was surprised/astonished at.
RedRay

15 Jul 2012 21:20:26
£9m fee agreed for Walcott, signing to be complete by Wednesday as personal terms have already been done

At that price would be worth it. But cant see it happening.

This would be the exciting player rodgers was talking about

No it has not.
walcott will not be moving to liverpool,thank christ.

red jay

Walcott at £9M? In our dreams. At least £20M and then wouldn't fit with the model as he'd want £100k plus a week.

SuperDuperSuarez

If we sign him then we will be just as flat up front as last year. He is a very fast player but awful infront of goal.

Gaz1975.

Hes poo, pace and nothing else although you cant defend pace but he doesnt use it at the right times, he could cross his legs or even pass you the salt. I would fully support him in a lfc shirt but think he is overated and not a player i would want to see in a red shirt

£20 million. He has 1 year left on his contract and he's a headless chicken. Even £9 million is too much.

He's in last year of contract so no way would he be £20 mill....wouldn't want him anyway

I for one think Walcott could be a great buy
Rik int wirral {Ed016's Note - Only at a good price. We can't afford to pay big on him. He isn't worth 20 million unless he was a year into a 4 or 5 year contract. Considering he is entering his last year he would be cheaper. But isn't the stumbling block with Arsenal about his wages? surely it would be an issue for Liverpool also.}

Red jay and Gaz1975 are totally wrong of course. Walcott would be a great signing. He'd do brilliant at LFC but I can't see it happening but I hope it does just to show what a pair stupid brainless muppets red jay and Gaz1975 really are :)

Walcott only 9mil? I'd bite their hand off if true

20 mil is more of a fifa transfer he isnt used at arsenal so he will be sold cheaply

I dunno, Walcott could be a shrewd bit of business for that kind of money. I would say 9 is a bit cheap. Reckon Arse would want closer to 12 or 13 personally. Forget about end product. He's still young and can be 'coached' into him. Would be happy with this signing. Just cant see them selling him to us tho as we're direct rivals.

Thats funny you said that because walcott scored 11 goals last season (which is 2 more than carroll) and he a winger. BR get walcott in if you have the chance!

Yeah get him we need speed down that right wing, imagine johnson and wallcott would give any left back nightmares and him a liverpool fan.

I dont beleive this as he hasnt agreed anything yet

Downing was entering the final year of his contract and you still payed 20 mill for him!not saying walcott is worth that but he's definetly better than downing!therefor arsenal should look for as much as they can seeing as liverpool love wasting money on english players

Bbc reporting Liverpool have turned down the loan bid from Toon. Pops

Can anyone believe carroll is earning 80,000 a week, what has he done to deserve that? RedTurk

Hope this is true! I hope Rodgers is true to his word regards giving everybody a chance and assessing their capabilities and suitability over the pre-season - including Carroll.

I can see what a loan deal would achieve - if Rodgers doesn't see Andy as "fitting in" then surely he has to sell him. I personally think if Carroll is sold it will be more a case of Rodgers selling to raise cash for other players as opposed to Andy not really "fitting in" ..."that wheelbarrow of cash" has a deflating tyre me thinks.

Glad to see we're playing hardball on this, Ashley did it to us when he sold him. Newcastle have the cash and players to buy him, a loan is to their advantage not ours. We should play them off against Fulham.

He only turned it down because they are looking to move him on a permanent basis.

If we are going to cut our losses on him then fine, but let's hope we have learned from the Aquilani fiasco.

Sell him, make a loss and get some money back in, rather than loan him out, get messed about, loan him out again and end up with nothing.

Hopefully the new owners will stand up for LFC and not roll over.

Gaz1975.

They won't be able to play Newcastle off against Fulham as that Ashley is a ruthless so and so ,he'll just walk away from the table .

Santi Cazorla and Isco been put up for sale at Malaga to cover debts. Owners don't want to shell out for it. Any chance eds? {Ed002's Note - I would not think so. It is going to be a very long summer if the question is going to be asked of every player.}

Ed I would of thought debt would not be a problem for Malaga as am I right in saying they are owned by the same people as PSG, City etc.?? (arabs)

Zero {Ed002's Note - When you say the same "people", do you mean people of the same culture and traditions? In which case, yes. Else no.}

How on earth are the eds supposed to know the comings and goings of every player in the world. It's ridiculous.

Sorry ed I did mean the exact same people or family, my mistake. But are they not very rich like City or PSG?

Thanks and sorry if my comment came about wrong.

Zero

Malaga covering debts? wow... tune in mate. However, save this message, because in about 2 years or so, when their owners decide to bail, Malaga will be up s**t creek along with City and PSG.

Madrid are apparently plotting a move for both Cazorla and Isco for 20m Euros. If it is true, BR should try and at least ask Malaga for the situation.

What's this sudden rumour about Strootman from PSV - any truth? {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at KevinStrootman earlier in the season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His recent performances have attracted further interest from AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg but it is AC Milan and, in particular, Valencia who are doing their best to persuade PSV to sell. I would expect plenty of interest if he does become available.}

This rumour has come from the same fake twitter account as the 'Mertens fee agreed' rumour today.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

His recent performances?????....... The dutch league seasons be over for the last 2 months..... slightly above average player at best..... not in the Dutch 1st 11 midfield nuff said for me!! away with ya to the mancs

Evening All. Not saying anything is true or not. But I've had a text saying with Carroll going we MAY be interested in a lad called HOROU (spelling) from a team in France. Just wndering if Ed002 has any knowledge of this? Like I say, a text out of the blue, not an imminent signing, not in the know. A rumour text.

Many Thanks as always Eds

Tom {Ed002's Note - Guillaume Hoarau has interested Liverpool in the past but I have heard nothing since lat summer.}

He is a 6ft plus striker similar model to Carroll if Carroll doenst fit the managers plans Hoarau wont neither

Can't see us going for Hoarau now tbh. Would seem a bit redundant to me.

15 Jul 2012 20:17:12
hey eds do u have any info on Andre Schurrle and liverpool links {Ed002's Note - No. Chelsea have had an interest in Schurrle for a year and having lost Anelka, Drogba and Kalou, and with Malouda and Sturridge not certain on staying, are continiung to look to strengthen attacking options. An offer was made and rejected - although it was much less than reported. The club will likely go back with another offer but will not be held to ransom.}

Ed Two I see your true BLUE colors shining through, and that's why I pity you ;) azkop {Ed002's Note - So would you rather I lie?}

15 Jul 2012 19:39:46
hi eds if carroll does leave who do you think will replace him

{Ed006's Note - Who knows, I think we would be looking for a winger rather than a striker though.}

Hi eds is it possible munian could be looked at? Would be a perfect fit? {Ed002's Note - I have given an opinion on Muniain - I don't think so.}

15 Jul 2012 19:22:15
Hi Ed002 alot of rumours in the past couple of hours about Carroll to Newcastle .. Do you know of any truth to this mate?
also would you expect a new signing this week?
Regarding Carroll.. if we get rid I think it'd be fantastic, he's simply not good enough for Liverpool. {Ed002's Note - I rather thought Newcastle would first offer a player plus cash deal, but they are certainly interested. I think there is a good chance of a signing soon.}

Do you know what player newcastle would offer us ed ? {Ed002's Note - No, but I suspect Ba may be an option.}

Guarantee if we signed Ba he would ruin his knee in his first game.

I really hope all this talk of Carroll leaving is just that ... talk. I believe there are two camps within the fan-base and I'm in the 'For Carroll' camp. I believe he should be given another season at least. He got that position in the England 2012 squad on merit for what he had done to the end of last season.
I think that if he left, especially to Newcastle, not only would we be making a substantial loss on him but I think it will come back to haunt us.

Thanks for the reply ed mate, im hoping a player and cash option will happen, would love to see somebody especially like ba and cash replace the... well.. carroll :)

Carroll is a lot better player than Demba Ba. Ba is terrible.

Y can't we give this lad a proper chance? I've always liked him and backed him (andy) yeah he struggled but he comin
good, great target man will give us a platform for the midfield and wingers to play off, y get rid? His wages aren't that high r they? At least give him till January, think it would be a massive mistake to get rid

Carrol is way better than ba,carroll is young and has bags of potential,he can only get better and was fantastic in the later half of the season for us,it would be financial suiside to sell him now at such a huge loss,

I am in the For Corrol camp too,
i think he will be a bright player next season if given the chance.
At only 21-22 he needed some to adapt to such a price tag and playing for liverpool, but i think we give him a season we would be able to sell him for around the price we paid for him, but if he is given a chance i think we would stay with him cos he will prove him self.
Join the DONT SELL CARROL page on Facebook

Would there be any option in which Cisse was offered up ed002?
Cheers
KiwiRed {Ed002's Note - I really don't know - it would be guesswork.}

15 Jul 2012 19:06:23
how can Newcastle justify a loan w/option to buy as a legitimate proposal? I'd always assumed the loan with purchase option was so the club had sufficient time to assess the players performance... As Newcastle were the club he came from, surely they know how he will perform!

Took the words right out of my mouth mate they no the player better then we do

Well said!

We should only consider a sale to Newcastle with a minimum of £20M. We don't need another 'loan to buy' scheme where we just get screwed!

Geoff

Spot on we would be total mugs to agree to a loan deal. Pay the cash or let's sell to someone else!

Certainly if its got to be a loan then not to newcastle there taking the pee also milan as well after the screwed us on aqua loan,surely someone willimg to pay 15mil for him in the right team he will be very effective-come barca u need someone good in air to break down the chelss formation 9-0-1

15 Jul 2012 21:42:56
We should start taking deposits on players we loan out so that if they become w****** like the two Italian clubs have done, we still have their money. Or better yet take one of their sons as hostage to be returned on receiving the money. Simples
Jolly Red

We should not let him go on loan. Either they buy him or don't. They know what kind of a player he is as we signed him from them!

Gaz1975.

15 Jul 2012 18:41:48
Newcstle have made an offer to take Andy Carroll on season long loan with view to a permanent move.

If this goes through surely we must be looking to sign a world class striker!

Hope it doesn't to be honest.
Do you think Liverpool would agree to this Ed002?

Red Lee {Ed002's Note - I would expect Liverpool to be far more interested in a sale which would provide welcome funds. Seems like a worst case option for the club. Expect Newcastle to through up another option or two in coming days.}

I can't see a loan making much sense financially. I don't think Andy is on huge wages by any means, so the club would gain very little with this sort of an arrangement and it would seem far better to use him as an impact sub and/or starter.

We should let them have him and charge them £673k a week.

I have always been a fan of big Andy, and would prefer him to stay, but neither him or BR have come out and put the speculation of a move to bed. Therfore it looks to me that a move is imminent. If he does leave we should be looking for a proven goalscorer sooner rather than later!

Red Lee

I heard Newcastle will offer an initial four packs of pork scratchings and a tin of condensed milk with possible add-ons. It's thought Liverpool want close to double that amount.

Disney!

Its a joke 35m at 23 years old and then on you go in under a year,LOAN LOAN LOAN,we never make any money on player's sold as of late,jay essex red for life red till dead.....GUTTED {Ed002's Note - 18 months Jay and Liverpool have done very well out of transfers.}

I hope we say no to any loan deals for Carroll I wud like to keep him but if he is to go sell him only learn from the whole aqualani episode that's costing us millions

It also doesn't make sense as they are competing the same places in the league, surely this will only help them

Think there testing the water? Agree with ed2 don't be surprised if other clubs now show their hand and offer a permanent deal. The more interested parties the better?
kidmillions

So we loan him,get no transfer fee,still pay part of his wages,and need to sign another striker.Yeah that makes all kinds of sense doesn't it?

He isnt well liked though by all newcastle fans,he wont go back there ,my money is on arsenal or ac milan.i dont think he will go personally

Hi ed2, totally agree. would be totally nonsensical for us to lose a player without gaining funds. as you say they're bound to come back with more offers cos their fans would love him back. couple of questions: 1, what do you think would be a min offer we'd accept havin spent 35mil a year ago? but mainly, im not sure, but they seem to have too many strikers who would all want a first team place, do you think there could be potential for either cisse or ba in the deal? pretty much a straight swap for one of them, i think cisse would fit in with 'the BR style' very well? what do you think? thanks ed. {Ed002's Note - I would not want to suggest a minimum figure but it has absolutely nothing to do with the money paid for the kid. Cisse is pissed with Newcastle but they don't want to sell. Ba would possibly be available, but I am not so sure Liverpool would want him.}

I reckon its all BS, Newcastle trying to up their profile,and MA just trying to look like mr Big, they dont even need him..
Lee73

Sorry ed that makes all the odd's ,ok its 18 still makes it a joke,just gutted,jay essex red {Ed002's Note - The problem is not the sale value it is the purchase value Jay. It would have been pretty naive to come in to this summer window expecting everything to be rosy with Dalglish, Suarez and Carroll staying and Levezzi and Cavani being added. But that is what many folks expected. Feel free to carry on complaining about Liverpool.}

Ed2, how much do they not want to sell cisse? because it may be that they might think it a good idea to see an unhappy striker to replce him with another striker who the manager loves and to be fair carroll did look world classwhen he played at newcastle. personally id love a straight swap, carrol for cisse with no money involved, and i just think that could suit both teams and please bpoth sets of fans?what do you think ? {Ed002's Note - I don't know how to measure how much Newcastle "no not want to sell" Cisse. I would suggest not clutching at straws just yet. See what happens over the next day or two.}

What a f***in joke !! loaning a 35m striker out to one of our main 4th place chasing rivals is totally beyond me WTF is goin on ? we gonna get weaker and have less options in attack...... i only hope BR knows what he's doing.also i hope we sign a right winger b4 any other position since maxi has gone

Ed what's Cabaye's situation. I'd rather have him as opposed to Ciise or Ba. Just an idea, but I totally agree a loan makes no sense. A permanent deal is far better whatever the loss. {Ed002's Note - You are moving in to a fantasy world right now. If Cabaye moves it will not be to Liverpool.}

Ed can u tell us y cissie is pissed off at newcastle thanks {Ed002's Note - They would not let him go to the Olympics.}

What/whom tells you cisse is pissed at Newcastle Ed? Cheers {Ed002's Note - You mean "what is my source"?}

Looks like we are a club that has to sell as we buy, cannot see the point in selling Carroll, if he goes and I will say it now I don't see these owners taking us anywhere. Clubs below and around us will improve and spend while we wheel and deal by selling our better players tofund buys of averge ones, we are in a vortex of rebuild every single season.

Newcastle fan here, I am sure that there is a sell on clause with Carroll is there not ed, somehtinglike 25%? If that is the case maybe 13.5 mil would be about an 18 mil bid which Liverpool would take from anyone else.

Also, I would love to see the big man back, he is class and for some reason Liverpool fans are making him a scape goat for an all round poor team performance in the league.

Andy can score goal if he is provided with quality crosses - HBA, Jonas, Santon and hopefully Debuchey can give the big man all of the ammo he needs... HWTL

Toonal

Ben Arfa plus 17m? Player plus cash deal would suit much more!

I know Andys purchase was a panic measure but surely the reason Kenny was able to pay 15Mill over the odds was because we got 15Mill over the odds for Torres.I think Andys true price/value was 20 mill. Some would say still to much but he could still prove to be 20Mill player given the chance.

Toonal, No one has blamed AC for our performances. The whole team take responsibility for the performances. It is more like the media piled a huge amount of pressure on the big man for his price tag. He is only young and will come good if he is given the chance at Liverpool!

If liverpool have definately decided to sell him and Newcastle really want him back then i feel nothing less than £20m+Demba Ba would be sufficient!

Red Lee

Sad really when the most sensible post comes from a Toon fan
CR

Toonal......You have just summed up why BR will want to sell him! "Andy can score a goal if he is provided with quality crosses" under his new style of play theres hardly any balls crossed from out wide for a player to attack, its more about working the ball through channels around the oppositions area! Thats why I cant see the obsession with him.

But lfc have rejected a bid for newcastle . andy carroll wouldnt go back there would he?

What are you trying to say ed002, do you think we will reject the offer or only let him go on a perminant basis for a large fee? {Ed002's Note - I don't see a loan as being a solution that the club would be keen on.}

15 Jul 2012 18:35:43
hi eds, newcastle have submitted a request to load andy carroll for the season. with the hope to signed him permanently at the end of the loan deal. sly {Ed002's Note - You will find that Newcastle will look to several options to instigate a return, perhaps providing a viable consideration for the player.}

15 Jul 2012 18:33:05
SSN reporting that Newcastle have offered a loan deal for Andy Carroll, with view to making it permanent...

Stone YNWA.

Dont understand why he would go on loan to newcastle, if he thinks he will start games at newcastle he is wrong, surely he would be better going on loan to someone like west ham!!

15 Jul 2012 18:30:17
Any interest in Stuart Holden, looked promising before his injury {Ed002's Note - I would very much doubt it.}

15 Jul 2012 18:09:09
Ed is there any chance of us signing pedro from barca? they have tello,villa,sanchez etc so maybe they would consider selling him {Ed002's Note - I don't see Pedro moving to Liverpool this summer. Villa is one they would be happy to let go in a sale or trade; but I would think getting the player to leave Spain may be real tough.}

You've openened a can of worms now ed. I guarantee that in 5 hours your words of Barca being willing to let him go will provoke questions of

"Ed002 when are we signing Villa you said earlier that we were in for him."

Nevada

15 Jul 2012 17:43:49
hey eds,

is there any LFC interest in Kevin strootman... back in march there were some rumours... but nothing now... And i will request you to tell me one more thing...after Dempsey, according to you all.. who might be our next signing ?
Grt site! :) addictive rather!

YNWA! {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at KevinStrootman earlier in the season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His recent performances have attracted further interest from AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg but it is AC Milan and, in particular, Valencia who are doing their best to persuade PSV to sell. I would expect plenty of interest if he does become available.

I cannot speculate on who may be next but Macca suggested interest in Joe Allen.}

15 Jul 2012 17:28:33
From what I gather from a Liverpool fanpage on twitter the Dries Martens rumour was made up by a 'troll' who also falsely made a link with Ganso and Arsenal. The Martens rumours are just yet another product of Twitter.... {Ed002's Note - Another lesson learned? Probably not.}

15 Jul 2012 17:24:35
To Ed002, re: Valbuena. How could you possibly say so categorically "There is no interest from Liverpool" about Valbuena, or anyone really? you seem to copy and paste a lot of answers given a lot of players get asked about a lot. Okay, fair enough. But given that pretty much the entire scouting and managerial staff has changed, is it fair to say that there is "no interest" from Liverpool when the very people who would or would not be interested have changed? maybe Kenny's staff weren't interested, but how can you be so sure BR's staff aren't? {Ed002's Note - In terms of Valbuena, he is a Marseille player and I can say with absolute certainty that as of this time Liverpool have not had any contact regarding him. None whatsoever, nada. If that changes I will tell you.}

I guess the point is that it is crazy to say there is no interest when we don't even know who is scouting right now. There may or may not be but it seems you're basing your conclusion on the lack of interest of people who aren't even at the club any more. Maybe "there was no interest under Dalglish, but who knows about what is going on now" would be a more accurate answer.

Your a disgrace to this site. it is people like you who are ruining it for all. the eds copy and paste answers because t***s like you dont read other posts or us the search function because the likelihood is that the question has been asked 100 times. now i have 2 questions for you.
1. would you rather the ed didn't answer your questions?
2. of all of the players that ed02 has said there is no interest in, how many have signed?
derryred

{Ed002's Note - The previous respondee is completely incorrect - I can guarantee that Liverpool have not as of this time made any contact with Marseille regarding Valbuena. None.}

15 Jul 2012 16:36:53
Would Cavani become a realistic option if we sold Andy Carroll?

Lewis the Red {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why would one of the best strikers in the world move to liverpool?

LIVERPOOL'S American owners have given the nod for boss Brendan Rodgers to swoop for Clint Dempsey.
John W Henry and Tom Werner would love Rodgers to add Texas-born Dempsey to a revamped attacking set-up “ alongside Luis Suarez and new £10.5m hitman Fabio Borini.
And that means the end at Anfield for £35m hitman Andy Carroll “ who will discover he has no Kop future in a face-to-face meeting with Rodgers.

So prior to Carroll bein told he has no future, ur in the know and youve a source to confirm this?lol

Copied and pasted from where? Some lying scrote writing for a Manc newspaper!

Dempsey for Carroll if true we have lost the plot.

Total tosh and taken from the Mirror I believe. Why would a manager of BR's stature decide as such on a player of Carroll's importance without even having seen him play in the system yet?

If we sign Dempsey and move Carroll, I don't know why you lot would be crying and moaning. I will stand behind either of them or both of them but my gut tells me, Dempsey will score at least twice as many goals as Carroll over the course of the next three seasons at which ever clubs they end up at. Dempsey can move, stand upright, has two feet, more skill and control, more pace, better fitness, more football intelligence, and a better work ethic. Andy is only taller, heavier and thereby stronger. He's young and English and still overrated despite what everyone has seen over the last 18 months.

This makes me fear Rogers.....Carroll has a great future .... a player who will terrify defenders and score goals! Yet he seems to be surplus to requirements without a ball being kicked! Has Rogers got a plan if tic tac football doesn't work? Carroll has the talent to fulfill any roll! He has the 1st touch (better than Rooney) yet it seems Rogers has already sold!! I find it all a bit norrow minded and I fear this single mindedness might be our undoing!.....Dempsey a better option? I'm not convinced

I hate persons like you who word paragraphs to say something else. We all know we like Dempsey and Carroll may not have a future. But don't word as if you are more in the know when your not.

My brain rather than my gut tells me Dempsey is almost 30 and won't be around much longer and since you say Carroll's rubbish he won't be with us soon so why worry about the next 2 years.Any chance of you posting on here next year to apologise if by some miracle you're wrong and Carroll scores a mittful?

I think Carroll will give us another option if the tiki taka system BR wants to employ does not work. Also all the top teams have at least 4 forwards, so if AC goes and CD comes in, that leaves us with 3 forwards. If one of them gets injured, then we are buggered, especially looking at the system BR wants to use. Personally, I think AC deserves to get at least another season based on how he played at the end of last season and his performance in the Euros!

Carroll scores a mittful isn't that just 5? I know he scored 5 last season but 5 again? No! get rid not good enough too slow, all round game not enough.
kidmillions

Is carroll a foward and dempsey a midfielder.if liverpool need a midfielder why not ask newcastle for a straight swap for cabaye.that will c newcastle crawl back into the hole they poped outa

Fid you say swoop?
That indicates a swift move out of nowhere.
Not 5 weeks of transfer rumours

Is there any truth in Amadou Diallo being offered a contract at Liverpool?

Gav the Red {Ed002's Note - I think he is a free agent after leaving Monaco - of interest to Liverpool? I really don't know.}

What kind of player is he (position, flair/strength etc.) Sorry but I haven't heard of him before so could someone give a quick summary of him? Thanks in advance. {Ed002's Note - No idea, he is only 18 and may have played a few games in the French second division.}

He has not been offered a contract, but has been given a trial.

Hi Eds, what is the latest on Skrtel? All the talk was of a bid from Citeh, but talk seems to have gone quiet lately. Also is there any firm interest in another striker now Borini has signed and it being apparent that Carroll doesn't seem to fit the style that BR wants to play? Cheers all have a good day. {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of a bid from Manchester City. As far as I know he is staying at Anfield.}

Maybe it has gone quiet because Skrtel has mentioned that he is happy where he is and looking forward to working under Brendan?

Hi Ed's,

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, so I apologise if it has:

Are Liverpool interested in Dries Mertens of PSV?

JMS
{Ed002's Note - No problem, it has been posted several times over the past few minutes. I don't know of a bid. Where is this coming from?}

It has come from someone called Arnaldo Ferreira who is a journalist for lancenet.com.br, he put it on Twitter that Liverpool have had a 14m bid accepted, no idea who he is though...

JMS

He was linked in the winter window from what i remember think he got watched by scouts aswell when the scouts were watching that gronigen player

Was mentioned by Eurobot, thus the incoming questions.

It is a fake account. Don't trust twitter.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

This rumour was posted on Twitter, and has subsequently been rubbished. The account was set up to troll arsenal fans & they have had a pop at winding us up. Absolutely no truth in us bidding for the guy.

Belgian Mertens is now on the radar.

Fulham close to completing a deal for Jordan Rhodes, who will replace Dempsey.

15 Jul 2012 16:11:18
No Dempsey in Fulham Squad for friendly, eds is this suggesting his departure is imminent?

Thanks as always

Jamie {Ed002's Note - There is no question he is departing.}

I know that , However, I asked if this would suggest the departure is "imminent"?

Thanks again

Jamie {Ed002's Note - "Imminent" in the big scheme of things is a subjective term. Is Tuesday imminent? Probably not if you are a fruit fly.}

Would be funny if he signs for arsenal or totenham.i dont rate him at all,hes a good player for a team like fulham ect,should stay with them ,if he comes liverpool he will be as bad as downing

Dempsey is an excellent player and would do well at LFC, so you're "I don't rate him" is pure stupidity.

It's not stupidity really, he's looking at the bigger picture.

When you see rival teams making signings like Hazard, Podolski and Kagawa then you see us being linked with Dempsey, it is kind of depressing to see how far behind financially and competitively we are.

I'd love to see us signing the likes of Cavani, Pastore and Oscar, but I know it's just not going to happen.

The names you mention are yet to prove anything in the Premiership, a league in which many big names have floundered. Dempsey annoys me as a person (not sure why, just a face I'd like to smack!) but he has certainly shown he can compete at this level and scored more than most of our team put together last season. We may have to expect for a year or two that the big name signings aren't going to happen, but be realistic in our reach and buy wisely from this point on. If Rogers can get us playing as a team again, with confidence, than any player will fit the mould and succeed, not just primadona big euro names!

15 Jul 2012 16:09:59
Hello Ed002,
did LFC make a bit for Dries Mertens from PSV?
thanks {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware and I don't see Mertens moving to LIverpool - if he moves this summer I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich although there is interest from Lazio.}

Bayern Munich have robben, ribery,muller and xhaqiri, would they really be in the market for another? And martens is far to good for lazio(pub team) {Ed002's Note - They have been looking, yes. The feeling is one of the others will leave - not to Liverpool before you ask.}

15 Jul 2012 16:09:11
Hi Eds, is there any chance of signing Marek Hamsik? Possibly around the 20m mark {Ed002's Note - No.}

Please mate ur your head.
a) he is not hearly worth 20 million
b) who will he replace; gerrard, lucas or hendo (who BR praised midweek). Then of course allen can arrive.
derryred

15 Jul 2012 15:58:54
Liverpool have bid for Dempsey. The bid was 4 million; Liverpool have been asked to return with an offer of around 10 million. Negotiations will take place early next week-- a deal of around 7/8 million is the likely outcome. Although there's no way of saying confidently what date this deal will be struck, I'd say that by late next week, early the week after that, Dempsey will be a Liverpool player.

In realistic terms Dempsey is only worth about 6-7million not a penny more or a penny less.you can buy really good young players with 10million id rather that then dempsey

15 Jul 2012 15:47:05
Alberto Aquilani is linked with a shock move back to AS Roma - I think Aquilani is a very talented player shame he didn't get more of a look in, we could have done with him last season as our offensive options from centre midfield didn't look particularly threatening to oppositions ie Charlie Adam & Jordan Henderson.

I hope this isn't true heard Luis Suarez is in talks with Juventus over a possible cash plus player deal Krasic moving to Liverpool, not a huge fan of Krasic looked good at CSKA since he made his move to Juve has shown very little of his ability inconsistent player.

Also expect Brendan Rodgers to place bids in for Demba Ba & Jakub Blaszczykowski - Ba is a good hold up man good in the air and on the floor would fit into Rodgers style of play, I saw Blaszczykowski play for Poland in the Euros he's a good passer of the ball he also has good movement I would love to see these both at Anfield. Y.N.W.A

Oh God not the "Suarez is off to...." story again!Also Ba is quoted in the morning papers as saying he's happy where he is and is going nowhere.Another rumour with no truth at all is posted.

Suarez is going nowhere, and Demba Ba is awful.

Ba is good in the air and a good hold up player.....Haven't we already got one of those? Andy Bloody Carroll?!!!! Yet Ba fits the Rogers way? Am I missing something? Please please please let me know!!!!!!

I think your living in a dream land, we don't have Champions League football and we don't look like we can challenge for the title atm, also Demba Ba might have quoted in the paper saying he doesn't want to leave but didn't we hear the same quote from a certain Fernando Torres a few seasons ago.

Aquilani would probably get more of a look in if he didn't constantly pitch up to Anfield "injured". It gets a bit tedious the way he pulls a hamstring coming throught the airport.

The post itself lacks any credibility, starting with the Suarez in talks part and then continuing with the assessment of Demba Ba. Do you really believe that "a good hold up man, good in the air" really typifies the way that BR's teams play? Is that why he may be prepared to let Andy Carroll go out on loan?

Clearly any player can say he's happy and then ask for a transfer.Theoretically Stevie Gee could do that next week though it isn't likely.Why though would Ba be lying about being happy at Newcastle and wanting to stay there.We can't give him CL football nor would he be likely to get a huge wage increase or is this all part of a secret plot? If he did want a move he could just come out and say it.

I'd take hendo over aqua any day of the week
derryred

Juve can't afford Suarez and Dortmund have told everyone who's enquired about Blaszczykowski 'to do one'.

15 Jul 2012 15:43:32
Joe Allen will hopefully be signed before we go to America. Bellamy should complete a move to Cardiff this week.

Plz don't be true we ar turning into swansea an average team.

Joe Allen is not an adverage player! Brendan Rogers not an average manager! So negative, spoilt brat, want it all straight away it's going to be a process!!

U call swansea average but they gave us a slap last season and Allen is 1 of there key players that never gives the ball away he'd be great 4 us

"Plz don't be true we ar turning into swansea an average team."

You're an person! Go and support City is if all you want is immediate glory you moron.

hey eds i have no source or anything, im just hearing from aload of mates, that liverpool might turn there attention to owen to bring back on pay as u play deal but owen is concernd on what sort of reception he would get from our fans, i personly would lik to see him back even duh he played for man u but thats football lik he did alot for our club we should support him on what he did for us and not where he went after us, wat do ye wrekn eds

thank great site i am on it 2 r 3 times a day but hardly ever post but heard this and would just like to know what every1 thinks

abbey red

Can't see him coming back. Can see him playing for a newly promoted club.... Probably Reading depending on Defoe deal or maybe West Ham could afford his wages.
FowlerGod.

Not going to happen, and wouldn't want him anyway. Not as good as any of the options we have, including the likes of Adam Morgan and Suso, who are already better strikers.

Michael Owen is off to Everton.

Verdad

I think Owen will re join this summer would be a good signing although he is injury prone he has a good goal scoring record, would be replacement for Bellamy who looks likely to leave with Cardiff or Q.P.R the likley suitors, whether fans would welcome him back is another question I personally would as he gave us many years of quality service Y.N.W.A.

It wont happen but owen was a great soldier for the club and im sure liverpool fans have to much class to treat him with disrespect

We should be looking forward not back
had owen stayed instead of going to warm real madrids bench he might have been better looked after and he may have extended his international career and become the all time england goal scorer that he should have been

Owen is gonna do the unthinkable and unforgiveable and sign for the toffees .....its all about money to him

I read today that Owen has issued a "come and get me" notice to any club that might interest HIM! Not clubs that might be interested in signing him but aren't good enough for him to join.His arrogance is amazing considering how badly he's collapsed in playing terms.No we don't want him back!

We don't want Owen, nor do we want Torres or any other ex Liverpool player bar Alonso! Come on people get a grip time to move forward!

Red Lee

As much as hes owen is a nice man,i wouldnt welcome him back at anfeild,he just has money eyes and is only intrested in his horses now,and yes he will most probly sign for wome1 like everton ,stoke,wigan ec 1 of the teams in northwest i think as thats were he is based

Who Owen is, what he has done and who he has played for in the past is irrelevant here. The question is whether or not he is good enough and can he improve the team in any way. The answer is he cant. He hasn't played enough games in recent years due to injury and is nowhere near the level ability and fitness that would improve the team. Thats the main point

He is awful. He's signing for the small club across the park anyway.

Abbey red - you need to go back to school and learn how to spell.

Owen did a great job for LFC in the past and should be remembered with respect. He did not want to leave LFC Rafa sold him! He had no choice in the matter.

Uruguay have been training at melwood and we have been speaking to cavani and ramirez about a transfer. Koptalk announced our bid two weeks ago and still ed 2 says no bid {Ed002's Note - I cannot answer for why Koptalk have announced any bids for Cavani and Ramirez - but I will stick with my no bid position. As for the training at Melwood it was called off after they kept bumping in to the Liverpool players and they have returned to Uruguay where they will play Panama later today.}

The training got "called off because they kept bumping into the Liverpool players" lol Uruguayans must b really serious about the training

Cavani !!! he wouldnt join a middle table team , deluaded u my friend

Another person's money wasted on Koptalk! You poor man paying that fake membership money - do you not realise it's all made up!

Uruguay haven't been training at Melwood, more nonsense being posted, they played a warm up game against Liverpool FC, the Uruguayian team and suddenly people have been saying they were in Liverpool UK. Do some research before posting crap

If you believe anything Koptalk says then you are a complete fool. They link us/announce an imminent signing/give the latest on talks for transfers on players who the fans want, for a fee. There is no substance to anything they say. Ramirez and Cavani? Come on mate don't be a nugget

SMc

Sorry but Koptalk has not announced anything of the sort, they announced that we can offer the 15m Bologna want but GR agent is touting him to city, juventus etc.

If liverpool have been in discussions wit cavani that would mean a bid has been accepted by napoli for him.i believe he would cost around the 40 mill mark so this rumour is complete bulls***.first liverpool dont have that type of cash and second cavani wouldnt join a mid table team

There had defo not bin any bids for cavani or ramirez

Hello Eds, Any news on Christian Tello? {Ed002's Note - No.}

15 Jul 2012 11:42:17
hi eds, What are the chances of us picking Nuri Sahin up? Rodgers and Moutinho are good mates so i dont see why we couldnt get him for around the 15m mark? also what is your opinion on him?
Thanks! {Ed002's Note - Sahin has had injury problems this year but rumours do persist about his long term future. If he were to leave I would very much suspect a move to Italy (possibly with AC Milan) or a return to Germany (with Bayern Munich) would come before any thoughts of a move to England. Malaga also spoke to Madrid about the possibility of a loan and Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey.

There is nothing to be made of Mourinho and Rodgers knowing each other.}

Why?would he not give him preference to young players knowing they will be developed well under rodgers or certain things of that nature p.s i know nothing of the inner workings of football clubs so i wasnt condescending!

15 Jul 2012 11:04:39
Hi Eds, Is there any possibility of signing Valbuena? {Ed002's Note - Valbuena was for sale over the summer last year and there was interest from several clubs, with Arsenal showing some interest the previous year - due to a enquiry via Jose Anigo that was pushed back at the time. There was also speculation in France that Arsenal would make an approach to Marseille to take Valbuena as a replacement for Nasri but that never happened. Right now the player is not looking to move and Marseille are not looking to sell unless a significant offer were made to tempt them. There is no interest from Liverpool.}

Fantastic player valbuena.love to see him in a red shirt.

Hi eds just a quick question do you think it's out of the question that we could make a bid for tevez 22 million is a reasonable price I think probably just his wages would put us of {Ed002's Note - Yes, I think it out of the question.}

Why would we want him? An absolute disgrace to football.

Ginerbolox

Can't we put the Tevez nonsense to bed once and for all.Too expensive,over paid,and despite his talent a disruptive influence we don't need.

Agree with the second reply, no way do I want him here and anyway, thought he'd said he wanted to stay at City now or was that bull**it?

Keith

Liverpool would want him because if he signed he would become the clubs best player.simple as

15 Jul 2012 10:25:02
Hi Ed, Whats the situation with our back up keepers? Will Doni move on and someone else brought in? {Ed002's Note - There was talk of Doni moving to Santos in January when Rafael was attracting the attention from several clubs - and don't be surprised to hear more of Rafael in the future as Chris in Tamworth is a great fan of his. Brad Jones has had personal problems and right now I really don't know what is planned. Gulacsi has returned from his loan.}

I can't believe no prem team has snapped up Alan MacGregor yet. He is class and free. Would be a good backup who could push for first team football. Better than Doni or Jones. {Ed002's Note - I guess one concern McGregor would have is the loss of first team football. Is supect he would look for a move where he was number one goalkeeper.}

15 Jul 2012 08:50:45
hello ed's and fellow diciples of this website. ok so clint dempsey? i really dont get this one at all. the guy is american and we have yonks as bosses but he's 29 and not really a prospect with a big resell value. im over here in holland and i know he's name has been mentioned more than once but honestly the future in an attacking midfielder is cristian erikksen from ajax. i believe although he has a long contract he would be avaliable at the right price and he is the sort of fabregas player weve been craving to back up our strikers in a long time. i belive him and say adam johnson form man s**ty would really be heading in the right direction for OUR future! what's your opinion's on this ed's. all the best fantastic site. van shep {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past few months. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. The Milan Press Office are convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expect a bid to be made by for Eriksen who remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for two more years before moving to Spain. Expect AC Milan and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United.}

Think Dempsey would be great signing for immediate impact on the team not in 2/3yrs from now but now right away.
kidmillions

Why call them 'yonks'? Sounds a bit disrespectful considering they have pulled the club back from the financial brink

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - It is considerably more respectful than "yanks" which is term overused by the ignorant and disrespectful.}

Erikkson goin united , wen will people realise we cnt compete at the top end ov market we are just an average team nowadays

Anyone watch the euros? he was rubbish. Of course its hard to base it off three games but regardless he got out classed. It's simple, dempsey scored 17 goals last year in the EPL while Erikkson plays in a 5th rate league. I know which one makes sense to me.

Not sure why people keep harping on Dempsey's age. Admittedly he'd be unlikely to have a huge resale value, but he's only a little over a year older than Downing and almost three years younger than Gerrard.

Think he would be a brilliant signing for the right price, personally, as he would add another element of scrappiness and ability to get on the end of balls into the box that we were largely devoid of last year.

RDL

Dempsey would be a good signing and would help the team straight away. If he keeps fit as we all know he does could help us and the youth over the next 4 years by then Adam Morgan should have broken through into the first team. Its no good paying top dollar for other peoples youth its time for us to create our own and as far as I can see over the next few years we will.

I really wish we could refrain from using terms like Yonks or Yanks. In addition to making us sound a bit stupid it could be insulting for an American to be referred to as a 'Yank' since this is generally used to describe people hailing from the northern states (new england I think). If you were from the north of england would you like to be referred to as a cockney? It's every bit as stupid as that.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - Exactly.}

Santos willing to sell Ganso. Spurs and Arsenal in running. Any news if Liverpool are interested?
KBT {Ed002's Note - No, there will be no interest from Liverpool.}

Hi ed002

I've heard from my brother who works in the editing department of the Liverpool echo and he says word is lfc were interested in Dempsey but have been put off by the 9 million asking price as they were looking on the region of 6-7 million.

U are usually spot on so I wanted to ask u I'd u have heard anything else
And to say well done u r the best editor by far.

Thanks

Mo {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Liverpool are looking to Dempsey and will look to see what can be done over the coming days. I think the side depart for their tour on Wednesday and perhaps something could even be resolved by then.}

I think I can see why it is your brother who works in the editing department and not you.

I believe they are going on Monday, unless Raheem has got his days mixed up! Think it's Suso that goes on Weds due to the Euro U19 final. If I am wrong, then blame Sterling on twitter, and get ready for a story about him turning up at the airport two days early!
RedAnt

Liverpool website has been saying they depart on Monday. Been watching it like a hawk to find out who travels as my 7 year old son is a mascot in the Toronto game.

Milan have offered 18m euros for Dzeko. Looks like Andys not in their plans. Yet. {Ed002's Note - I really don't see him moving abroad.}

I seriously doubt andy is interested in moving abroad.

No matter. Carroll will got to Fulham & we can have Dempsey.

I am hearing a strong rumour that Allens agent has recommended he put in a transfer request. He will lose his bonus but the feeling is this will be easily made up for with a signing bonus and better wage at a bigger club! From what I heard this will hit the news sometime around wednesday or thursday next week. Hopefully if this is true BR can use his connections and pick up the player as I think he is quality!

Quality player but gerrard, hendo and lucas are better. where will he fit in?

15 Jul 2012 01:27:12
Hey eds, love this site! Any chance of signing Brek Shae? He looks like a very promising young player and would tie in perfectly with our need for some wing players and our American influence from FSG :)
AKhan {Ed002's Note - Whilst he maybe a pretty boy like me, I am not convinced he is yet ready for the EPL.}

I think we should snap him up before people realise his potential and his price tag gets too high! Bleach reporter put him in their 10 future world football studs recently

Wasn't he training at Arsenal or some such recently?

I know there are many people called A kahn.....but one A Kahn is getting knocked out tonight :)

Red Lee

Cmon ed002 let be realistic here, you are 10x better looking then Brek Shea

Ed002 I still don't buy this rubbish that you're male...someone as moody as you has got to be a woman! Period! (as they say across the pond)

TAYPOT {Ed002's Note - All man.}

Where does this daft idea that since we're owned by Americans we must sign an American player or two come from? The Mancs are owned by Yonks and ole whisky breath buys the players he wants not American citizens.We should look for the best signings and forget the stars and stripes boys unless they're genuinely world class which few if any are. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United are owned by Americans, not Yonks.}

Aaaah....When did you become a boy ED002 ?
