Reading reports Swansea rejected a bid for Ben Davies

Believable46 Unbelievable38

15 Jul 2014 23:10:17
I think he'd be a decent if not spectacular option for us. He's pretty solid, a bit lazy defensively at times when tracking back , but I think his stats for last season surpassed Luke Shaw in almost every department (as a comparison).

Agree6 Disagree3

I think we can do better. But Bertrand is not better.

Agree7 Disagree0

Not really the kind of player promised and 4th choice opition left back too! This could get worrying with the class of players the other top 4 clubs a buying.

Agree2 Disagree0

I can't understand the point of buying a 21 year old LB when we have a 20 year old LB in Smith when the major difference between the two in my opinion is simply experience, which Smith will never get if we bring in Davies.

Agree4 Disagree1

A bid from Spurs last week.

Agree1 Disagree0

Lets hope Brad Smith shows BR something to consider in the pre-season. Unless the sale of Jose Enrique is confirmed, I don't see a reason to buy a left back with Enrique, Smith and even Flannagan who can play left back.

Liverpool have officially announced Markovic signing

Believable101 Unbelievable25

15 Jul 2014 19:22:45
Brilliant signing! From what I've seen of him he looks very skillful, highly talented and speedy. Should fit right in.

I'd rather have the 4 players we've signed so far than Suarez, Cissokho and Moses.

Agree11 Disagree6

For sure I am with you! I think we have signed really good players so far! Can, Marcovic could well prove great signings for us and still so young!

Agree11 Disagree0

Really happy with this one.

Agree1 Disagree0

Could be the new McManaman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris, I hope not otherwise he will blow FSG's good sell on value principle right out of the window.!

Ed002, maybe this post will soon be dated, but why has the Markovic deal not yet been announced as official? Is there a problem? You gave a unique insight on why Chelsea withdrew from the Moreno deal, and I'm sure most of us wouldn't have known that if you didn't provide that information. Is there anything sinister about Markovic and this Liverpool deal?
Thanks

Believable18 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - The deal will be announced once the transfer has been processed and he receives international clearance - perhaps tomorrow.}

Hi eds.
Don't you get fed up answering the same questions over and over again? I certainly get fed up reading them.
I also think that people who claim to use the "search function", but couldn't "find anything" are telling porkies and just could be bothered to look.
By the way, any news if we are interested in huntilaar? I couldn't find anything on the search function. . Only joking.

Agree1 Disagree0

Benfica told the stock market they hav
have sold him to us. apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is of zero relevance until his transfer is processed and he is given international clearance.}

Benfica have confirmed it.

Although the amounts paid vary all over the place, but they have OFFICIALLY confirmed they have sold him to us.

{Ed002's Note - See my previous answer. Benfica has confirmed that they have sold their 50% of his rights to Liverpool. Liverpool need to wait until, and this is the bit people seem to be struggling with, the FA confirm his registration and his international clearance.}

Liverpool have confirmed it now 😀

Agree1 Disagree0

Talk about impatient! vast difference between a player at melwood having his medical and Moreno who's clubs haven't even agreed a fee!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2014 07:24:56
There is no variation; Benfica have confirmed they will receive 12.5 million Euros foe 50% of the rights they owned.

Assuming the other 50% to the 3rd part owned by Mendes and Zahavi had to be paid off at the same price as Benfica, that will make his transfer fee 25 million Euros.

Do I assume correctly Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not really, Liverpool now own 100% of the player.}

15 Jul 2014 16:21:44
Whats up Eds hows thing, Could it be a possibility that Liverpool sign Aguire for RB and Richards if he'll take a wage cut and off load Johnson and have Flanagan play Lb with Enrique competing for no1 spot? IMO I think it would be a lot better business than what's currently being reported?

Believable8 Unbelievable16

{Ed008's Note - You mean Serge Aurier? No interest from Liverpool in the player aswell as Micah Richards who has problems himself.

15 Jul 2014 13:45:02
Edds is Jackson Martinez a viable option for Liverpool and what sort of figure would he command? He seems like a real cracking player who I think would fit perfectly into are system

Believable12 Unbelievable26

{Ed002's Note - No I wouldn't think so.}

I agree with you. He'd be a very good partner for Sturridge and Sterling I would think. Would hold up the ball well, but can also produce fantastic goals and is quite fast actually.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any more news on Martinez? Have read more articles this morning suggesting he may be with us soon? This presumably as a result of an apparent twitter post mentioning Liverpool? Thanks!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Don't bring things from Twitter here please.}

As a first time poster, I apologise for not knowing this, this was a genuine question so thanks for the answer and the friendly welcome! I think you guys are fantastic for news and I read the page avidly on an almost hourly basis to scour for news, its a shame that my first question has been shot down!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That's fine, I figured it was the case. There are thousands of people spouting nonsense on Twitter and only a few of us to spout nonsense on here. I certainly don't have the time to answer questions about their posts.}

Good afternoon Eds

Has there been any further developments or communications in regrads to a possible transfer between agents / reps of QPR, LFC and Glen Jonhnson?

Or has any other club registered interest in the player at all?

Thanks in advance

Believable5 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything happening right now. Sorry.}

15 Jul 2014 12:51:56
Marco Reus would have been the perfect rebound after Suarez.But I know the chances of that happening are close to nil.

What Liverpool need is a player who can chance the games in a moment of magic and is an established player.Our squad looks desperately short of champions league experience.Do u think any of the following are viable options?
1.Klaas Jan Huntelaar
2.Mathieu Valbuena
3.Javier Pastore
4.Marek Hamsik
5.Javi Martinez

All are affordable.What do you think ed?

{Ed008's Note - Use the search function as I've just done now to get this info for you in future it's very easy.
{Ed002's Note -Huntelaar has a year remaining on his contract and is keen to play for another top flight team that gives him the chance of a league title. CSKA, Galatasaray and Liverpool have shown some level of recent interest in Huntelaar - although the word of interest from Liverpool came from an Arsenal scout when he was asked about any interest from Arsenal. The player himself could opt to sign a new one year deal which Schalke want, sign a pre-contract with a non-German side in January or run down his contract and seek a hefty signing on fee next summer.}
Fiorentina, Seville, Zenit, Arsenal and Newcastle have enquired about Valbuena's availability but it is Fiorentina and Valencia who have made offers for the player and a chance remains of a player-exchange with Valencia. Marseille are willing to sell this summer and have Batshuayi as a replacement. Marseille have not been approached by West Ham at this time but Marseille are available of interest.}
If Pastore were to leave he would likely go back to Italy.
If Hamsik were to move then the EPL might well be an option. But for now that does not look like the case.}
Javi Martinez is of interest to Napoli and Barcelona.

I wouldn't say Javi Martinez or Hamsik are affordable both would cost big fees for their clubs to sell.

15 Jul 2014 14:59:50
valbuena has moved/moving to Dynamo Moscow I believe. also apart from Huntelaar (who is a great finisher but doesn't really provide "magic") the rest are all midfielders not forwards.althought the same could be argued about Reus.

Is there any substance in the Giovinco to Gala rumours?

have we ever shown any interest in him? I remember Ed002 saying that when Juventus were looking at putting a package together for Suarez last year Giovinco was a possible player they would include

Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - Giovinco is of interest to Galatasaray as Juve try to raise funding. He has been offered to Liverpool in the past but the club has not shown an interest.}

Hello most glorious ed! Hope you are in a good mood!

A quick question: you mentioned a few days ago that Lacazette might be an option if Origi goes back to Lille on loan; after using the searching function, I discovered a post where you list Lacazette, Tadic, Son, Fisher and Huntelaar as players that "have been looked at" in the past few months.
The question is: are you aware if the Origi deal will include him going back on loan (since this is what Lille want), and if "yes", do you know if the club has identified additional offensive targets, since most of the players on the previous list have either switched clubs (Tadic), or been deemed not ready (Son, Fisher)

Cheers!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - There is no Origi deal at this time. I have said where I know interest to be.}

Bizarre post, references to rumours months ago but no interest in all the ones posted in the last 24 hours answering that exact question.

Hey Eds!
Not Liverpool related but I am just wondering about Kevin Du Bruyne. From my perspective it was a huge mistake by Chelsea to sell him. He was maybe Begiums best player in the WC. How long do you recon he'll stay at Wolfsburg? Any clubs keeping an eye on him?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Liverpool set their sights on £16m Alexandre Lacazette as interest in Wilfried Bony cools

It was thought the Reds were keen on taking Bony to Anfield, but after repeated claims from Swansea that no offer has arrived for the striker, it appears their interest has cooled.

And now, reports in France are claiming that Brendan Rodgers is looking to Lacazette as a replacement for Luis Suarez.

Believable15 Unbelievable14

Now that would be pretty exciting. Bout as likely as Griezmann, however.

Agree2 Disagree0

One of either Griezmann or Lacazette would be great and not entirely unrealistic IMO

Loic Remy, decent striker and wouldn't cost us much because of his clause which means he would cost a champions league team a lot less, he would be good back up to Sturridge.
I see Lambert as a good player, but say Sturridge got injured (hopefully he won't) Remy would be more similar to Sturridge, pace up front sometimes is vital and if we had to rely on just Lambert as out striker then we could struggle
Any chance of Remy to Liverpool then Ed's? Or is there no chance.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

{Ed008's Note - {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool making any efforts to sign Remy.} From the search function.

I would be distraught if we signed Remy! Nothing to do with his ability, it is more to do with his attitude. Given the fact he refused to play for Newcastle against us in the last game of the season because he didn't want to risk getting injured before the World Cup! That is a horrible attitude to have and not one I'd like to think BR would welcome, accept or tolerate at the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

I did not know that, fair comment though, was just thinking about our forwards and how we will need another player

Liverpool Echo claims: "Bony is one of a number of strikers that Liverpool are running the rule over at the moment.

"With four competitions to play in next season Brendan Rodgers is going to need strength and depth in all areas."

Hi Eds, read this morning that Liverpool are interested in signing Lukaku? Is this likely?

Believable10 Unbelievable33

{Ed008's Note - No interest from Liverpool.

I'm absolutely shocked by the amount of Liverpool fans who believe what they read in newspapers after what the ENTIRE British media printed about Hillsborough. Liars and spin doctors employed to sell papers with no regards for who they're ****ting on. The S*n might be the worst, but If I was trapped in a cave up North freezing to death, I wouldn't even trust a newspaper to burn properly.

21 years old soon and I have never bought a single newspaper. I intend to keep it that way until the day I die (Echo excluded).

Also do you know whether Toni Kroos is going to stay or leave bayern? not really Liverpool related but I heard he was going to madrid? Thanks a lot keep up the good work!

Believable8 Unbelievable10

Hi Eds,

Quite reaching here and hoping these may come to us but could you give us an update please?

- Marco Reus - Surely rubbish about a 44 million bid?

- Torres? - Are we or any other club interested?

- Ross Barkley - Showed interest before is he likely to move anywhere this summer?

Thanks Eds

Believable2 Unbelievable13

{Ed008's Note - Need to RTP in future, Reus their is no interest from Liverpool, Torres is avaiable for transfer maybe interest in Spain Atletico maybe and Barkley to Liverpool is not happening, Chelsea are interested in Barkley whether a move happens this summer I'd say unlikely.

Nice reports this morning linking us with Marco Reus although the guy is in love with Dortmund,

Would love to see Rodgers go and put 50 mill down in front of them mind - Absolutely love the kid,

Whats our thoughts guys?

I would love him to join. I rate him higher than Kroos.

{Ed008's Note - But their 2 different types of players?

Good player but I'd rather bony at half the price and strengthen elsewhere in the squad. Don't think we need to be spending 50mil on one player. Massive risk attached with that.

I have been told that we have made discreet inquires about spending some of the Suarez cash on Arturo Vidal.

I think I'd cry. Vidal is probably in the top 5 box to box midfielders in the world. Yaya and Kroos are the only better box to box midfielders I can think of. Although having said that, Gabi is bloody under rated!

Aspas has joined Sevilla on a season long loan with an option to join on a permanent basis.

Red Rum

Believable60 Unbelievable6

I don't understand our club at times, we loan to many players out with option to buy that we then get played hard ball over.

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes, I know what you mean. Aspas is almost 27 and will be almost 28 when his loan deal expires. What if they don't take up the option to make his stay permanent? Surely his value will have decreased by then?

Maybe it was the only viable way to get the Moreno deal done and dusted early on.

Anyway, I am sure he will do well in the Spanish league as he did for Celta Vigo. Good luck to him.

Red Rum

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree with Baz - we have again let a player leave on loan with an option to buy, how many times do we need to put our hands in the fire to understand that it burns?

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The trick is not to spend some £20M plus buying players that are not going to play more than a handful of games in total.}

Have to agree with the Ed on this one. Stop buying players that aren't going to play and the problem solves itself.

Agree1 Disagree0

Can see him doing well with Sevilla. He was great with Celta Vigo, don't think he suits us or the Prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

The trick is not to spend 20 million plus on players who do not play. It is difficult though to get it right every time. We could be doing a spurs, but we could also be said to be doing a Liverpool 88 of Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge. Very few winners in the modern game, but many now are cast as villains even before failure. Liverpool have impressed on many fronts in the last few years. There will always be a few steps back, like losing Suarez. The important theme is that we continue to make more steps forward and move towards being a permanent champions league club genuinely challenging for the top honours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fancy seeing you here Miike. ;) Although you probably have no idea who I am.

Agree0 Disagree1

Red_Rum

He's not going to get a game at Liverpool, so why would his value decrease if he's getting game time at a big club like Sevilla? Surely it's a good way to put him in the shop window, with a possible deal with Sevilla at the end of it and, if not, perhaps another club who has seen him play more than 5 matches in a season?

Anyway, good luck to him, shame it never worked out. He always looked desperate to play when you saw him on the bench at the start of the season, but I suppose it's hard to go all season without getting a sniff.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a fair shout ed, Liverpool have been profligate in their transfers and as such are reaping the consequences. Wish we'd take a firmer stance on loans though, have we actually loaned a player out with the option to buy that hasn't backfired on us?

Ed's, its been a bit of a roller coaster ride with respect to suso. It seemed like he was going to get a chance to make his way into the team next season then it looked like he had burned all his bridges, now he seems determined to fight for a spot. I personally think he has loads of potential and would love to get hi. Game time. And with the amount t of competitions we have he should get a chance. However, a loan may provide the most opportunities. Where do you see suso ending up? And what about the likes of yesil, assaidi, tiexiera, and Ibe? Will they be loaned, sold, reserves, or fighting for first team?

Believable5 Unbelievable1
