Hi Eds

Various reports in Italian media just appearing online of reported interest in Sturridge from Napoli for €25m.

Surely we are not going to sell now after all the drama of his injuries and recovery times?

would the club be open to offers or will Liverpool wrap him in a bubble for the summer
(hopefully he gets through the Euros)

Or is this complete tripe?

Personally really hope it's just made up nonsense.

Believable1 Unbelievable27

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach by Napoli.}

15 Mar 2016 23:31:29
Has anyone shown interest in Sturridge ed?

Agree0 Disagree14

{Ed002's Note - No Sturridge has been sidelined with a lengthy injury problem.}

16 Mar 2016 07:43:49
I think if the asking price was that low a couple of people would be interested if he stayed fit until the end of the season.

16 Mar 2016 10:59:19
Who said what the asking price was?

Agree2 Disagree12

16 Mar 2016 12:49:29
Well EdFar seeing as you decided to be anal about it:

'They are interested in signing at x price' indicates that they believe they can sign at x price. It would therefore follow that they believe that x price is the asking price.

Should this not be the logical following then the core of the statement becomes absolutely meaningless - y team want to sign z player at x price is even more of a non-report than it already is for good players because of the ability to sub prices in and out at will e. g. Barnet FC are interested in signing Messi for £500 - maybe true, but it's also nonsense.

The exception to this is when the 'report' goes on to state that this is short of the valuation of the player by their current club (or states an alternative valuation)

We good here?

😂😂😂😂😂😂

That about sums it all up, well done mate on that ever extremely detailed answer. 👍🏻

You may have an apprentice who may be of interest to you here.

Reply of the year contender in my opinion.

Don't forget to close that tiny box you just put him into.

😁.

Hey hjikle for someone who obviously regards him, her or itself as something of a logician you might want to try the first sentence again .

" They are interested in signing at x price' indicates that they believe they can sign at x price. It would therefore follow that they believe that x price is the asking price. "

You are, of course, making an assumption that there actually is an asking price (and you were going so well until the last bit. Why because somebody may want to buy something do you automatically assume that the current owner wants to sell it? As you say, if you don't accept the assumption or the assumption is false then the rest is just meaningless word play.

Whilst it is very refreshing to find somebody who believes press reports I think I'd have to disagree with your evaluation of the current situation.

However, let's accept your assumption as being true . I'm going to make an assumption that you may never have been involved in [ I'll be kind and say 'complex '] financial negotiations - if the assumption is erroneous then do please accept my humble apologies - but to assume that an opening bid matches the seller's expectation is, to be kind, quite naive. Rather (if the selle is any good) it sets the field for the seller to announce their (much higher) price. I believe that this opens the door to what is called negotiation or 'bargaining'

Of course it is also quite possible that a mischievous little imp has let slip a figure to various members of the fourth estate to 'test the waters' so to speak, perhaps to draw Sturridge's agent out into the open. That again would suggest that the assertion that it would "therefore follow" that the figure mentioned was the "asking price" was slightly wide of the mark

So I'll ask you specifically - how do you know there is an asking price for Sturridge and, if there is, how do you know what it is?

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - obviously, for all your attempt at being clever, this is going over your head. No one has said it was the asking price, what was said is that if it was that low there would be no shortage of offers. You are so busy trying to pretend to be clever you are making a fool of yourself.}

Hi Eds, enjoying the craic on here and providing some much needed entertainment whilst in hospital.
Now my questions are are follows. Is it likely that Benteke will be sold in the summer? Also have we looked at rusnãk or Keita Balde
Cheers guys come on boys let's smash it on Thursday.

Believable0 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - I think it is certainly possible that Benteke will be sold in the summer but it is not certain. Lazio will sell Keita Balde if Atletico Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen (or any other interested parties) match their asking price. Interest from Rennes has gone.

Southampton may look again to Groningen's Albert Rusnak knowing that other sides are paying attention with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and RBS having watched him. Chances of a return to Manchester City have faded and prior interest of West Ham has gone.

Liverpool has not shown interest in either. Hope you are soon up and about Hutch.}

15 Mar 2016 16:20:13
Thanks very much Eds, well I'm now into my third week and still haven't found what's the matter, though the doctor did drop the Big C bomb this morning just waiting now on the results.

Jerome Sinclair has agreed a pre-contract agreement with Watford. Watford will have to pay Liverpool a developmental fee which will be decided at a tribunal. Jerome Sinclair is the youngest ever player to play for the Reds and was tipped as a future superstar, unfortunately a lack of opportunities and a rumoured bad attitude have stalled his growth. Sinclair is still young and could turn into a top class player but he will not have it easy breaking into Watfords starting 11 with Troy Deeney and Idion Ighalo both in fantastic form this year.

Believable3 Unbelievable12

15 Mar 2016 14:20:33
Good luck to the lad. Hope he gets his opportunities and never scores against us.

Agree17 Disagree9

15 Mar 2016 14:36:04
Can he sign a pre contract agreement with an english club, didn't think players in the same league could until their contract expires.

Agree5 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - No.}

15 Mar 2016 15:28:46
It'll be a while before he's challenging Watford's first team and I'm pretty sure they see him as one for the future. Their robust forwards are their biggest asset and physically, Sinclair is nowhere near ready for the Premier League. Maybe they want to pair him with young Oulare and bring them through together. That could work.
It is a pity he didn't have more patience to continue his progress with us. But, I don't think he'll be missed and I doubt if he'll find the grass greener somewhere else.

But, sure. Good luck to him.

I guess the money being decided by tribunal means it won't be included in 15/ 16's finances, eh Ed?

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed002's Note - He won't be joining them in 15/16 so no.}

15 Mar 2016 16:07:12
think it was fifa he signed the pre contract?

16 Mar 2016 00:19:13
Watford could likely be selling ighalo then.

Hi eds has Liverpool or any other EPL team looked at tadic has an excellent left foot and he's good at set plays just asking.

Believable1 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool were interested in the summer of 2013 and in the summer of 2014 his agent said that Liverpool had rekindled their interest from last summer - but that was far from the truth and wrapped up in another matter. There are no premier league sides showing any interest in Tadic right now.}

15 Mar 2016 19:20:28
Just another quick question. With Danny ings making good progress do u see him playing again this season.

Agree0 Disagree10

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps a cameo but I do not expect the club to take any risks at all.}

15 Mar 2016 10:24:26
Not sure if this has been answered already or not but was/ is there any genuine interest from us in Charlton's Ademola Lookman? I remember hearing through the grapevine of a rumour we and some other PL sides were interested but I don't know anything about him.
