All the talk about a last minute deal for falcao do you think there is any chance of it happening I would love to see it but surely it will end up costing too much any thoughts Ed002

Believable15 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid is interested in Falcao who has himself made it clear he does not wish to move to England. I would think it unlikely - and would that push Sturridge out of the team? Falcao is not as adaptable as Suarez and he is very much an out-and-out striker. Personally I don't see it.}

Thank you for the reply ed

He's a one hit wonder and 'Rock Me Amadeus' was rubbish, anyway.

Liverpool are 'hours away' from completing the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song from Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.

According to a newspaper, the Reds have made an offer for Song, who has been told he can leave Barca this summer.

Liverpool would be paying about £8million for the player.

Believable21 Unbelievable74

"Hours away" may also mean 10 thousand hours away.

Maybe Lucas is off to Napoli or Inter

Dear Eds,

I haven't really been the into the transfers this summer. However I've heard a few names buzz around who I thought were our targets. Would you mind updating me on what's happening?

Shaquiri
Icardi
Reus
Balotelli
Pastore
And the two Ukrainian lads we were interested in, in January?

Thanks as always eds, and let's get three points sorted on Sunday! YNWA

Believable14 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Briefly, it sort of looks like:
Shaquiri - Maybe Monaco, unable to agree a move to Italy.
Icardi - Over-priced, grief off the field - will likely stay with Inter.
Reus - Coming back from injury, may get a run out soon. Atleti enquired. I suspect he will stay where he is, but still wants Barcelona move.
Balotelli - Suggested by Macca that LFC might get a loan deal - I commented on this earlier.
Pastore - I provided news from PSG yesterday on the European page - Pastore has been available but offers from Italy were apparently well below PSGs expectations.
It has been suggested that Konoplyanka is an option for this summer. Unless something has changed recently, LFC has not spoken with Dnipro since January, although Roma, Fiorentina, Manchester United and West Ham have. I am not aware of interest in any other Ukrainian for at least a year.}

Really on form today Ed002
Another awesome reply
Thanks a lot

Agree3 Disagree1

The other Ukrainian was 'yarmelenko' couldn't remember his name, anything happening with him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool's interest was long before January and they had a figure in mind for the player which was less than a third of the asking price. Recent months has seen interest from Napoli, Dortmund, Stoke, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City but an offer from Roma, who see the player as an alternative to Douglas Costa and Iturbe, was too low to be accepted. Roma then returned for Iturbe. Could well be available but is the Shakhtar player that Kia Joorabchian is hawking around is Douglas Costa - and Shakhtar won't want to lose both.}

Fair play ed grate job always give the top info

Morning all.

As the search for a forward continue's before the transfer window closes I was wondering if we had shown any interest in Mattia Destro?

At 23 years of age is young enough to fit FSG's transfer policy and although spent some of last season injured managed to score 13 goals in 20 appearances.

Falcao and Cavanni look way off for us so could this guy be a suitable alternative?

Just asking if there has been any interest shown by LFC because IMO could be player to finish off an amazing transfer window for us.

Believable10 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - No, but Spurs have been trying to buy Destro most of the summer.}

He is at a similar level to Borini; the player everyone wants to get rid off from LFC.

Roma won't sell him IMO.

Over the last few windows we have been linked to Susaeta. Does anyone know if we have looked at him this window. He looks a very classy footballer with pace, technical ability and an eye for goal. The kind of player BR likes

Believable5 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - Aside from being the kind of player Liverpool are not short of, interest from Liverpool predates Rodgers.}

15 Aug 2014 17:54:23
Ed002! When you have the time, could I bother you for an updated shortlist of the current players Liverpool FC are looking at? I have RTFP and UTSF, but things seem to be changing quickly - for instance, your note about Lavezzi was huge news to me, and it was only found somewhere among the replies I think. I will be very grateful, cheers

Believable15 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - I understand that others are suggesting that a goalkeeper and two forwards in Konoplyanka and perhaps Bony are the targets but I can't help with these at all. Certainly Bony would make some sense but is there a starting position for him? The club seem to have gone cold on Huntelaar who is available at a good price, and he would offer significant Champions League experience. Eto'o would do the same. Lavezzi will be sold and is one of the three players that the club was willing to let go of to help fund two significant purchases. But as I said PSG have no offers at this time. Liverpool and AC Milan are known to be interested and have been given a price. Juventus, Arsenal, Fiorentina and now Inter are seen as other candidate destinations. Rodgers is intent on bringing someone else in, I hope it is someone who can provide options to the club rather than buying a player to appease the fans. I understand that Macca has suggested that Balotelli on loan might be an option - sounds like an expensive deal just to appease the fans to me - but he would bring something additional to the club - and he does have a ridiculous haircut, which is what Rodgers may be looking for in a player.}

Ed but are Milan open to a loan move for Balotelli?
I mean it was reported they are willing to sell him but LOAN!
Doesnt make sense on their part

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Loaning players can be profitable for a club if there are no takers for a sale. Milan are certainly willing to let him go but he would not be cheap in transfer fee nor wages. Perhaps they would be willing to consider a loan - they have no shortage of forwards in a squad they need to trim.}

16 Aug 2014 08:55:43
Between Bony, Balotelli and Lavezzi, I think Lavezzi will offer something different that Sturridge or Lambert cannot offer.

I would try a short term deal for Lavezzi.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - PSG need to sell and I would not think there is any chance of a loan.}

Thanks a million ed! Your efforts are greatly appreciated by us fans!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Post of the day.}

No Ed. Post of the day is "he has a ridiculous haircut which may be what Rodgers is looking for in a player" - had me rolling round the floor! Nice one!

Agree2 Disagree2

He has got a crazy hair do Ed and does have anger in him, like most of us I suppose. Would you be happy with him in our team? Is he looking more viable than Bony or just another option at this stage?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - As long as Rodgers looks to him as a good addition to the squad that can bring something that is not there right now - then yes. If it is a "big name" or "marquee" signing just because he promised one, then I would look to remove responsibility from him for transfers in the future. His track record is generally poor and the club has already acted to support him with the "transfer committee" but they need to protect themselves as well - particularly financially.}

I think Lavezzi is considered too old and I don't think he would be able to play on his own upfront if Sturridge got injured.
Balotelli would be perfect short term, if anyone can change him Rodgers could be the man.

Agree0 Disagree1

Any opinion on who, if anyone, would fit what we need best Ed? Whilst you don't always share them, they are very insightful and informative when you do.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - An enquiry was made for Huntelaar but it seems to have gone nowhere. He was 31 a few days ago and could offer a really good-value deal to Liverpool for a couple of years. He has an excellent goal-scoring record and works hard for the team. He wants to challenge himself in a new league and could bring very valuable European experience whilst the younger players get a firm footing. Language is not an issue, nor is temperament. So there is a lot going for him.}

16 Aug 2014 12:00:56
Ed002, is higuain available for sale?
I would imagine he would cost the near same amount as bony and kono would in terms of overall cost and wages (I could be so wrong on this, but just a suggestion)
I have always admired him, and he would be a great compliment to Daniel sturridge, while playing a front two,
In my opinion.

This would mean playing a system without wingers, with sterling just in behind the two, .
Once again its only a suggestion, but I think this could be more viable than targeting both targets Macca has mentioned.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I think it unlikely that he will move and the fee Napoli would look to would be outrageous.}

Thanks for the reply Ed002. Maybe a permanent deal but with something like a 2 year contract.

Agree0 Disagree1

Thanks for reply mate. I'm liking the idea of getting him by the minute lol. Intact think I would prefer him to Bony.

Agree0 Disagree1

Thanks for that ed. It's not often that men get to gaze upon he thoughts of a diety, if just for a moment.
